My 18 yr old daughter was admitted to Christus Hospital Tuesday Feb 7 2023 to have her kidney removed, a major surgery! Everyone in surgery was extremely nice helpful! But when we was waiting in her room on Ornealus Tower fifth floor for her to be transported to her room 2 nurses and the idiot transporter basically dropped my daughter on the bed when they were supposed to slide her over. He let her go and she fell right where she just had surgery!!!!! I was in shock and couldn't believe what just happened the nurses never said a word not sorry nor anything! Ok that was that day she was in the hospital for 3 nights and 4 days Friday today she was given her release papers at 12:30 pm I waited in the front of the hospital with my car for an hour My daughter WALKED TO THE CAR!!!She wasn't transported by wheelchair! Matter of fact the nurse told my daughter she couldn't find a wheelchair seriously in a hospital full of wheelchairs so she walked my daughter halfway out. No the nurse didn't even walk her to the car. Really this is how yall treat y'all's patients really !!!My daughter had a major surgery and this is how she was treated!! This was BS and I want answers why my baby was done this way. My family will never go to this BS hospital ever again. The nursing staff needs to take a course in patient care and compassion for patients. But all this hospital cares about is money now. read more

Good Doctors, Nursing and Health Care Staff. Terrible Business department. I had a procedure that is paid at 100% by my insurance if filed correctly. Christus filed it incorrectly and stated to appeal it to my insurance company. I appealed it. BCBS said to take it up with Christus and have them file correctly. Christus has refused to refile insisting they filed insurance correctly even after being sent the letter BCBS sent me informing me of their error. After 5 months, Christus has not refiled it and is threatening to turn it over to collect. Furthermore, Christus charged me a $40.00 copay at the time of the visit which I did not owe for that visit. In summary, Christus owes me $40.00 and they are blackmailing me for $309 instead. read more

Most frustrating experience we have ever had. Did not run the correct tests for a cardiac emergency costing us thousands of dollars on the back end because someone with a near syncopal event did not even have a troponin or 12 lead ekg. Ended up seeing a cardiologist and found out he had a cardiac episode. Missed by both christus EMS and the ER. We wanted to go to a different hospital but EMS refused. Next time I'll just take him in my own car because he'd be in better hands then he was with them. I'm in healthcare so I know the challenges but this is completely unacceptable care by an arrogant doctor and incompetent staff. Billing was a whole other nightmare. They filed with the wrong insurance three times causing us to pay out of network costs for ems. It's been a complete disaster from start to finish. read more

Never made it past the ER on April 15 2002 went there for a miscarriage was there 12 hours (first pregnancy freaking out teenager) we left & went home.. the next morning I started to hemroge we then rushed to ETMC they got me in asap & said had TMF seen me the day before & did a DNC this could have been prevented.. Took years to give them a second chance in 2015 I had the flu couldn't keep anything down I was 5 months pregnant & my OB wanted me to go to Longview to GSMC where I would later deliver my daughter but I didn't want to make that drive so I went to TMF ER 6 hours later I drove to Longview like I should have in the first place because I never got called at TMF & the waiting room was almost empty the whole time! You are better off staying at home & letting what ever is wrong with you kill you than to go sit in that ER FOREVER FOR NO REASON! read more

From an old ER nurse the ER is not the place for minor health issues. Please use your family physician or one of the many walk in clinics available in Tyler. There is always a possibility of hugh emergencies which require life saving help. That puts your flu symptoms at the back of the waiting list. Every patient is triage by an RN and only urgent emergent patients go in immediately. It is NEVER first come first serve. You are actually causing more harm to the patients that need to have life saving treatment. Let's hope you are never faced with that in your family, but if you are you will appreciate the quick response from the ER team. Mothers is an excellent hospital. read more

I give this place an A+++++ .This is our second visit here, both times called the day I needed my daughter seen and was able to get her seen. On both visits we waited 5-10 mins before we were taken back, after the nurse took her back and left the room the doctor was in the room within 5 mins or less. Dr. Nixon took his time with my daughter answered all my questions and had the best patient care of any doctor I've take my daughter to. I can't say enough good things about this office. From the time you walk in the door until the time you leave you care treat with care and compassion. read more

I like my doctor. I have a $5 copay. I went in for my regular biannual appointment to have my prescriptions refilled. I was sent a bill for over $100 "for the balance that the insurance didn't cover". Never happened before. So, I've been in contact with everyone involved. I know it's wrong. My insurance company knows it's wrong, but can only pay as they are billed. The people working at the clinic know it's wrong, but Christus/Trinity refuses to admit it is wrong and correct it. They only send past due notices. I have no choice but to pay it. Again, I like my doctor, but it looks like I will have to change to a doctor not affiliated to Christus. I'm disabled and can't afford to pay over $100 for a simple office visit/consult now. read more

This is by far the worst patient care I have ever received. I am in from out of town and 38 weeks pregnant and just wanted to make sure everything was ok. First all of all once I get back to Triage the RN doesn't even tell me her name. She lets me talk for a brief minute and stops me mid sentence with an attitude I might add that this wasn't the place for me to be...hmmm this is a hospital right? But I shrug it off. She hooks me up to the monitors and of course she doesn't explain what she is doing nor does she tell me my vitals or my baby's heart beat. Bad bad patient care. It's nerve wrecking being in the hospital so the least a nurse can do is be compassionate. She did not ask me for my history and I told her I was a high risk patient but she didn't ask why. I don't know if she is just over worked, hates her job or maybe just isn't feeling great today but as someone who works in healthcare compassion and simply listening can go along way. I'm pretty easy going so I'm thinking once the dr gets in the room my visit will be better. Well boy was I wrong. He was more of a jerk than she was. Again he did not ask me my history, he simply told me I wasn't in the right place and to pretty much go back to my physician ((which is 2 hours away)) to be evaluated. Again my concern this is a hospital I simply want to get checked out to make sure everything is ok for me to travel to the 2 hours back home. I can understand people's frustration when they come in for "non emergent" situations but I'm not a physician, I was simply told to go get checked out by my regular OB to return home. I've met my Out of pocket and deductible for my insurance. The hospital and the staff is getting paid. If you ever run into Dr ROBERT Darrow, MD or Angela ((RN)) in OB run the other way. There was a time when I'd have given TMF 5 stars, but that ceased after my father passed away at their facility. Last January, my father was taken there in an ambulance and after some tests, it was decided that he would be admitted to ICU. Before that happened, they were going to take him to get a CT-Scan and told me to wait for him. I did and about 5 minutes later, a gurney came rolling down the hall with my father on it. There was a guy on top of him giving him CPR and many others around him. I was told he went into cardiac arrest. They worked on him for 20 minutes and finally called it. A few weeks after his passing, I decided to look over his records to see what happened. I tried to log into his account and it had been disabled. I called their tech support and was told this happens when a patient dies. I asked them to send me his records and was told that I would have to come in and there would be a charge. What??? These are his records and now they should be his family's. I argued, but got no where and was told this was a state requirement. Well, if that's the case there are other facilities and insurance companies that don't follow this. There are other online records of his that are still available, as of this date. it's a matter of money. TMF has received ten of thousands of dollars from my parents over the years and now they want to squeeze a little more out of them. It's either that, or maybe there's something they don't want us to know about the day he died. read more

My wife and I have been using this network for approximately 15 years, mainly Canton and Tyler. Recently, we were both diagnosed with Covid, and unfortunately my wife ended up hospitalized in Kaufman (only hospital the ambulance would take her to) due to complications. Upon discharge on Wednesday, November 18th, the hospital informed us they had left a message with Dr. Kevin Nixon's nurse about scheduling a follow up before Thanksgiving. We never heard back from the nurse, so I emailed Dr. Nixon and called to attempt to schedule an appointment. I continued to call and email and was finally able to speak with the nurse on Thursday, November 19th. She stated Dr. Nixon would only be available on Monday and Tuesday but couldn't schedule an appointment until February. She told me she would see what she could do and get back with me that day. I never heard back from her, so I have continued to email and call to no avail. I know we are limited with doctor options when you live a distance from a larger city, but this is deplorable that when you need to receive care you are unable to with a doctor you have been a patient of for years. This last occurrence was my breaking point to post a review since this is the third time, we have experienced an incident like this within the last year between the two of us trying to receive follow up care based on the discharging doctor's orders after hospitalization. read more

Two stars only for the good care from the nurses actually in the ER room I was in, but would give no stars for the admittance staff and the ER resident who "examined" me. To be honest, I have very little to no recollection of most of the day as I was experiencing an apparent Transient Ischemic Attack. But noticing dramatic changes in me, my wife rushed me to our Trinity Mother Frances health care provider, whos very good. After an initial evaluation, she said we needed to get our hinnies to ER at the Trinity Mother Frances hospital in Tyler, and that she would call ahead so that they would be prepared for me. Well, once there, we were told to have a seat and wait our turn. My wife said the doctor had called ahead but was told, "that doesn't guarantee you anything." So, we sit there for 2 and a half hours, with me having an apparent TIA which could have easily got much more serious, while they are calling back people with sore throats!!! Finally, we are called back. Blood is finally drawn, a urine sample is collected, and a resident who doesn't shave yet sees me. He orders up an EKG and CT scan of my brain, and then we await the results. While we are waiting, the ER nurses tell us to get prepared for me to be admitted for overnight observation. Around 5:30 pm, the fog lifts over me and I finally become aware of my surroundings. A few minutes later, the young resident comes in, says that he can find nothing and is sending me home. And this decision was made without knowing whether I was now coherent or not!! He marks the diagnosis as "transient alteration of awareness" which is medical speak for "we ain't got a f**king clue." So, you don't have a f**king clue so you just send your patient home? Luckily, the situation had already gotten better on its own, but this was ridiculous. Now, my primary care provider has ordered up more tests, but I have already told her I am going to Dallas with the results. I wouldn't go back to Trinity Mother Frances Hospital if I was right across the street and suffering from a gunshot to the head and a stab wound in the gut!! read more

Horrible. I can't even begin to express my anger right now. And I'm not a very picky person. I'm in a TON of pain and have an infection in my mouth can't eat or drink, and they REFUSED to see me.. What hospital refuses to see a patient?! I barely can talk right now, and in so much pain I'm in shock that they would not see me. This isn't the first time I've had a horrible experience here.. One Time I was having what I now know to be vertigo migraines and almost passed out 3 times waiting to be put in a room for 4 hours..I will NEVER be coming to this hospital ever again. Been in ER for 12 hours. I am allergic to morphine and they Dr put on my sheet for pain and they have had to call him back everytime to get something different after I tell them nurse again that I am allergic. Worst ER I have been to. Would not have come if they would have told them truth instead of saying that they had a bed available. I can assure you that I will avoid you from now forward. read more

Horrible horrible place. I took my 9 year son here when he stopped walking! I took him to two christus medical facilities and they both told me sprained ankle. But by day 3 he was running fever and almost inconsolable. I took my son here thinking this place would find what was wrong. Im a nurse of 15 years and knew something else was wrong. They would not rexray his leg or get a pediatrician to see him. I asked for a MRI and said that weren't done at that location. They sent us home and a day later i'm rushing him to plano. Come to find out he had osteomyelitis in his left leg. The FNP flat out refused to listen and the hospital says they did everything they were supposed to do. Yet im the one picking up the tab for their negligence. Do not stop here. The christus system is a joke. If you have minor medical issues, then maybe this is for you. Let me start off by saying I loved the night shift nurses. I had my baby here. But, if you are going to have your baby here, you are better off at ETMC. My nurses during delivery were rude and snarky. I had not ate or slept in 24 hours and my daughter would not come out when I was pushing. I bawled the whole time. All the nurses could tell me to do was, "stop crying and just push" and roll their eyes at me. If I was not a good person I would of cussed all of them out. Maternity floor- nobody helps with your baby that much or watches them after delivery so you can get some rest. Nice rooms and food, but rude and stuck up staff. read more

This place is nothing short of a fraud & a scam. I went in with health insurance around March for upper left forearm elbow discomfort from a bike incident . They took my vitals, a few X-rays, & they told me I had a hairline fracture. A week or so rolls by & I received the bill and it was nearly a $1,000 after deductibles. A thousand cash for 3 X rays & for the Dr. to tell me I fractured it. NO STARS if I had the option. They don't care about their patients. This is a hard review my mother loves the facility and treatment she receives she would love for me to give 10 stars when only five is available. Everyone who grew up in Tyler knows this is the place to be for all your medical needs. I have to say that my experience in the ER was different the nurses and non MD staff were warm and nice in the but the ER doc seemed overly busy I have to give creds for trying to keep up on the weekend maybe my body just picked the wrong time to start having severe heart pains he spoke really fast and tried to get to the next patient as fast as he could and overlooked many critical points due to lack of time that I hope do not cost me a heart attack later as no scans or tests other than a 20 second EKG was done and waiting until my heart hurt again to put pressure on it which really hurt. I would suggest putting more doctors on staff in the ER and after reading other comments have a heart specialist available in the ER as that seems to be whats lacking from my experience and other comments I read all else is five stars he may have been a great doctor in all other fields but I left the ER with continuing heart pains that are still on and off. read more

I am writing this now, as I happened across these yelp reviews and felt compelled to share our very serious problem which occurred in 2008. I know that's a long time, but this was a life threatening and life changing experience, My Mom went to TMF Tyler for a non-emergent Heart Cath with possible Ablation after having repeated unexplained heart palpations. She was only 66 years old, still worked when she wanted to, and drove herself to the hospital that day. During the Cath procedure, the physician punctured the heart wall with the catheter advancer, which caused a condition called Cardiac Tamponade. Tamponade is when the blood from inside the heart chambers leaks out into the bag surrounding the heart, filling it and squeezing the heart more and more until the heart is no longer able to beat effectively, much like a blood pressure cuff squeezes your arm. Since the heart can no longer beat, it can no longer circulate blood to your body, brain, lungs, and coronary arteries. Mom had to be revived on the OR table several times, and ended up with an Anoxic Brain Injury. The doctor who was performing the cath could not place the life saving pericardial drain, and the Head of Thoracic surgery Iwho saved her life) at the time had to be paged to place it, wasting precious time, and therefore precious brain cells. The cath surgeon was negligent when he punctured her heart, and also negligent in not being proficient in placement in the pericardial drain. After all this, I had to request repeatedly from ICU staff that a Neurology consult be ordered for her very obvious neurological deficits, and was only granted one after finally demanding that the House Supervisor come see my Mom. Be VERY careful if you go to this hospital. After causing my mother these grievous injuries, and brain injuries which will never heal, they never even apologized, and had the nerve to bill her for 'care': brain damage. read more

My husband went in and had to have his toe amputated. The staff was unbelievably kind and sympathetic. We can not thank them enough for their kindness. We went in thru the ER. We waited about 30 min (they were packed) and within an hour he was being wheeled to a room. The care was great. read more

My family has had numerous positive dealings with Mother Francis Hospital in the past, but last night the emergency room moved them from a very capable, caring hospital, to the top of my do not use list. Last night my wife commuted from 45 miles away to bring our 24 year old son to what we believed to be a very caring and concerned hospital, and boy were we proved wrong. My wife arrived with our son and when brought back to see an ER doctor was met by a very unconcerned physician. They explained all his symptoms, which were all the type A (h1n1) flu symptoms to be told that he did not meet the CDC requirements because he was not under 2 years of age, a pregnant female, or over 60. My wife then asked the physician if he was even going to do a swab test and he stated no I think he just has the regular flu. Then my wife asked if they were going to prescribe him something to fight it? She was again told no, he does not meet the CDC requirements, so he could not prescribe him any Tamiflu. My wife went to question him again and he told her there was no need to get angry and turned and walked out. My son then returned back home to get up the next morning, thank God, to go to our family doctor. He was running a 101+ fever, they did a swab test on him and guess what? Type A influenza, you know the one that has been killing and hospitalizing a lot of people between the ages 20 and 50, not saying there has not been other age groups effected but the majority has been in the 20 to 50. I was really in disbelief of Mother Francis' ER lack of concern about my son well being. I will not return back to this hospital for anything as little as a splinter if their attitude toward our love ones don't change drastically. I really thought it was the h1n1 that was killing people, but if ER's everywhere are turning people away that don't meet the CDC requirements we have a long and sad flu season ahead of us. May God be with the families that have already lost love ones because of doctors like this particular Mother Francis' ER doctor. read more

I have been going to the Canton Clinic for at least 10 years. I experienced a large number of losses in my immediate family and had to be hospitalized for Severe Anxiety and Depressive disorder. I asked the PA. at the clinic if he could prescribe my meds so I didn't have to go to Greenville and he said yes. I later went to the clinic and my Dr. informs me I've been shopping my meds which was not true at all. When he asked who was prescribing them I had to tell him, his own PA was, It really unnerved me to be accused of this. I have continued to have problems at home since I have lost everyone close to me and am still dealing with a lot. I could not make an appointment because my dog passed away and now I am being told they can't schedule an appointment for me and a letter is coming. Unfortunately there are some things we can't control and the last thing you need is to be turned away by your Dr. The Dr. took me off my diabetic med over month ago because it appeared it was making me sick, so now Im on nothing and can't get an appointment. The clinic is getting so structured they don't have people for patients. and you darn well better have something wrong that will fit into one of their slots. Im talking about people that sometimes have a lot of things going on in their own lives too and need a Dr. they can count on. I have left messages in the past on the nurse line and have been ignored. I feel like it is very important to TRUST your Dr. above all, I've lost that TRUST., I'll find someone else read more
