He took his time, listened to her concerns, tried multiple options, made adjustments, and never once rushed or brushed her off. What could've been a frustrating experience turned into a confidence-boosting one, and she ended up with boots that fit perfectly and made her day on the mountain so much better. This wasn't just good service--this was exceptional care, knowledge, and patience. Adam genuinely cared about getting it right, not just getting us out the door. Never have we ever been taken such good care of! We took our skis here for a wax Xmas day and they did an excellent job. Wasn't too expensive either! I forgot to bring my daughter's poles and they totally hooked her up for the three days she was skiing! On the third ski day, we couldn't get her boot into her ski, so we went back down to the ski shop and asked for help. The gentleman that helped us was great. Turned out the heel of her boot was just falling apart and had broken beyond repair, and we needed to get her into a pair of rental boots. The whole process was made so easy. Considering all of our gear was our own from home, they didn't have to help us at all! And they did it anyway and we felt very at home and taken care of. Doing a Walk-In Rental was the SLOWEST experience imaginable. There were about 9 people in front of me and the process took well over an hour from start to finish. Their pre-check in even has you put in all sorts of details about your riding style, experience, boot size, etc., which the techs then proceed to ask you all again, saving you no time. It's a very broken process and system and I cannot recommend enough that you don't use their service. read more

Off to a bad start on my vacation. Because Southwest Airlines lost my baggage with all my gear. I was told by a local to come here to rent some gear! I met a nice lady named Jen who was working the front desk. She hooked me up with a jacket, pants, gloves and boots. Everything I needed, and at a great price and super fast. This review is being written specifically regarding the way Christy Sports/Flatiron Sports handled the seasonal locker issue. Having been a long time client of Flatiron Sports, GJ, OZ and their staff have always been the best! Last spring we were told we needed to move all our gear out of the seasonal lockers for a remodel after the ski season. Having been in our locker for over 25 years, the locker rooms needed to be freshened up! We are now hearing through the grapevine that Christy Sports is eliminating the seasonal lockers, we have heard nothing official on this matter from anyone at Christy Sports. With the ski season around the corner it would be nice to know where we stand as lockers are hard to come by in CB! No communication is unacceptable and not the way long term clients should be treated. read more

I was in severe pain from pinching in my boot. I made an appointment for 8 o'clock the next morning. At 8 AM sharp they opened up and invited me in. Very pleasant middle-age man explain to me the issue with my boot and spent about 20 minutes heating it up and working out the area that was pinching me. Also spent the time to instruct me on how I should properly fit the boot to avoid the problem in the future. After all that he only wanted to charge me $10. A real standup guy. Wish I remembered his name. True one on one customer service. read more

My son has rented boots and skis from Flatiron Sport since he was 5. The service we've experienced over that time has been so positive that we went directly to Flatiron to buy his first pair of performance ski boots. Even though we stopped by during the busiest time of year, PJ and Larry took great care of us. Larry assessed my son's feet and skiing ability, and suggested several boots that would fit his feet best. Soon, my son had selected the pair that felt best to him and cooperated while Larry walked him through the custom footbed process. Throughout our visit, we heard lots of tips on how to care for and use the boots - and even about skis that would work best on Colorado and New Hampshire snow! After over a decade away from Crested Butte, I was so pleased to see that Flatiron Sports hasn't changed a bit. Renting with big groups was always a breeze back in the 2000s when I visited with church groups and I crossed my fingers that coming with a small group of friends this winter would be just as great of an experience 11 years later. The staff is friendly and helpful, knowledgable and efficient, with some familiar faces from all those years ago. The best parts of renting from Flatiron are the overnight ski storage (no strapping them on your car or lugging them to the bus to get up to the mountain) and the quarter lockers for shoes/extra layers (not having to be stuck in your boots before and after skiing is a huge plus). The pricing is competitive and the equipment is top notch as well. To the management of Flatiron, keep it up! Don't change a thing. It's a diamond in the rough! read more

Highly recommend! Third time I have used Flat Iron for my ski rentals. Their staff is amazing, so friendly and energetic, they want to make sure you make the most out of you ski trip. They are very knowledge and make sure you rental is on par with your ability. Location is convenient, right by the Red Lady lift. Have lockers to store items and valet to keep your skis on site so you are not carrying them back and forth. I purchased new custom fit boots and custom footbed for $800, maybe not a lot for some but it is for me. Maybe my expectations were too high from everyone's recommendations that I should go this route and enjoy comfortable boots (being 52 I'm more about comfort these days). First time out, pain in both sides of my feet and arch, brought it back in for adjustment. Second time, slightly improved but still NOT noticeably different than rental boots, still a little pain in sides of foot ( metatarsals ?), arch, pain in balls of feet, big toes, and front half of my foot was slipping around. Went in on last day for an adjustment but won't know if it works until next year. So basically used about 4 hours of my vacation trying to get comfortable boots and now left wondering for 9 months how many times it will take to get comfortable boots. read more

Rentals with these guys was a breeze! We are both brand new to snowboarding and they helped us out a lot with how to use the equipment and some snowboarding for beginners tips! All of our gear was great quality! They even helped me switch our my boots the next day when I couldn't get comfortable in the first pair, not a problem at all for them. Even with an appointment, on a slow Thursday morning I received the worst customer service here. The two different associates helping me couldn't sit for more than 2 minutes without hopping up to talk to someone else or each other. Even though I expressed which boots I had tried on in another store and wanted to buy there, they had me try on every other model except the ones I wanted. When you're about to drop $600+ on boots you'd expect at least a few minute of their time. Definitely do not recommend them. read more

I rented the Morning Glory Pintail Demo here... and needless to say I now own one. I was hooked on this board from the very first run. Let me tell you, this baby surely shreds. Matt helped me out when I was selecting a board to rent for the weekend last year and we got to talking and he told me about the Morning Glory Pintail. The board was perfect for ripping up some of the extreme terrain CB has to offer and equally satisfying for carving up some groomers. Aside from the excellent craftsmanship of the board, I really like that Morning Glory is based out of Crested Butte. I used to ride a Burton Custom but I am now all in on the Morning Glory train. They have a beginner model as well. You would be doing yourself an injustice not taking the opportunity to demo a Morning Glory deck. Rip it up!!! read more

Awful service provided by rude employees. We had reservations for and payed for demo but were given the worst equipment. One pair of boots was held together by duck tape and tar. When we came back the next day to exchange for better stuff they were passive aggressive and annoyed that we came back. My rental was fine and the people were nice. My friend rented from Black Tie and a customer from Christy took his board on accident. When my friend called in the mistake to Christy and told them they asked where he was on the mountain. Whike we were eating they then sent the Christy customer up the mountain where the guy took my friends board and didnt bring up the one he had taken by accident. My friend had to use ski patrol to get down the mountain and I had to get his board from Christy because their customer just left his board at the base. When I got to the store the manager only said that it wasnt Christy sports responsibility. They left a guy that had reported an accidental board swap on the mountain without a board. They wouldn't have known where the board was without him calling it in. Pretty pathetic and unethical on Christy Sports part. read more
