The Alpineer is the place to go to buy ski equipment and rentals. Their staff are awesome, especially Hunter. He has been super helpful in educating me on different types of AT skis and guiding me to those options which will work best. I have rented a couple times to get a feel for the different skis and the process is simple and great. Hunter also did a great job with my AT boot adjustment and my super wide feet. 10 points for him! And they have a great selection of clothes and gear for all the activities. read more

Small shop with a great selection of alpine touring gear, some cool Alpineer branded hats, water bottles, etc. I didn't see many split boards but it was also late in the season. Definitely geared towards the higher end on outerwear but a really nice selection for men and women. I'd go back for sure! read more

My wife and I were in crested Butte for a weekend trip. We rented bikes from the Alpineer prior to our trip. On the day of our rental I was able to upgrade my bike with no fuss. The guy at the bike rental was super helpful and pleasant. Unfortunately did not catch his name. Hunter also helped out tremendously by loaning us his tailgate cover to transport the bikes free of charge. He also gave us some excellent advice on where to ride in the crested Butte area. This included the Strand ride which did not disappoint. Would absolutely rent from these guys again. read more

Amazing bike selection! Pretty sad customer service. Can anyone in this shop pretend to be happy to have customers? I rented 3 demo bikes for 6 days. A big ticket. And we had to return 2 times for pieces falling off bikes while we were riding . A little "sorry about that" would go a long way. Plus when I was on top of mountain and ready to head down another black, a patrol guy asked me to wait while he screwed the tube back on so that I didn't die while jumping. He took a picture of it to share with the shop cuz it could have been a really big deal if this had this come apart while I was landing. So again, amazing bikes. Let's get some basic customer service training going, and check the bikes for safety before sending out. I give it a 4 stars cuz the bikes are awesome! Btw.the fellas at Flat Iron get 4 stars. Stopped by at Alpineer in a desperate hope to get my aluminum snowboard binding plate, that got bent the previous day, straightened up (somewhat at least) to make it rideable. Guys at Alpineer did not turn me away (unlike other shops in town) and put their best to help me out. On my first morning of skiing in CB my boot broke. I guess I was shredding too hard, you know how it is. I was recommended to go to the Alpineer by the shop at the base of the resort because they were likely the only shop to carry boots for pin-style bindings. I went to the Alpineer and within 10 minutes I was fitted with rental boots and back on the mountain. They even called my boot manufacturer for me to get info on getting my boot fixed. They were extremely helpful and efficient. I would highly recommend them if you are in CB. read more

The guys in the service shop are awesome. Had an issue with my Touring setup and they were able to check me out same day and made some adjustments to my bindings. But more importantly, they talked me through the specifics on the issues I was having with some potential on-slope adjustments I can make if it continues to happen. I had a pretty awful chain come off about 3 miles out on a trail. Kelly, the manager, drove out with new chains and got the bike fixed for me. Then he didn't feel like it was working great still, so he followed me back and put me in a brand new bike. The guy was absolutely great, highly recommend this place. read more

I rented a full suspension mtn bike from this cool little bike shop on my first trip to CB. I had an excellent experience overall and would highly recommend this shop for all of your CB mountain bike and outdoor adventure needs. I came to CB to ride this legendary area for the first time and had little idea of what to expect, but the guys and gals at the Alpineer really helped to make my trip super fun and easy. Kole in the shop's rental dept was friendly and knowledgeable, setting me up with an excellent bike and suggesting several super fun trails well suited to my skill level. Kelly and the other guys in the repair area were patient, kind and technically savvy, making personalized adjustments to my top of the line full suspension rental bike that worked absolutely flawlessly on the trails. Kelly was very knowledgeable and could articulate a fix for the discomfort in my boots. I'm avid skier so I've been exposed to many ski shops across the Rockies. I would rate Kelly among my top 2 boot fitters in my travels. (Jackson Hole, Big Sky, Snowbird, Vail, etc) I thought I was going to have to buy new boots but KELLY was able to reshape my liner and foot bed which solved the problem. Alpine has all the tools to fix boot discomfort. HIGHLY recommend them. read more

My partner and I had a great experience when we rented e-mountain bikes for a day in June. The guys at Alpineer were accommodating and friendly and helped us pick a route to take the bikes on. After we'd ridden miles from town one of our chains broke. My partner biked back to where he could get cell phone reception and called the shop. They said they'd send someone out right away, and they really did. Kelly showed up very quickly and offered to take either the bike and us back to the shop, or to try and repair it right where we were. We chose the second option, and after some work Kelly had us riding again so we could complete the day on bikes. Everyone we encountered gave great customer service and was a pleasure to deal with. We'd rent from Alpineer again any time. read more

Went back (grudgingly) in 2011 to get bikes and was happy and relieved to have a much better customer-service experience. The staff was friendly and helpful, and we did not have all the problems with bike rentals that had plagued us the year previous. Both trips happened over the busy July Fourth weekend, so I don't think it was a matter of having more time for customers this year. They just did a better job. Hope this continues. read more

We went in on 6/16 for some rentals and souvenirs. The girl working up front was making anti gay jokes to her co-workers loud enough for everyone to hear & cracking herself up. I live in CB and went here for the first time to get a mountain bike wheel trued and a spoke replaced. Cost $30, which seemed high but ok, it's a resort town. Had 8 rides on the wheel and a spoke had fallen out, half of the spokes were loose. Went back, seemed like they were going to chalk it up to a bad true and fix it (their mistake) - I should have explicitly asked if this was the case. Went back a week later and they said 8 rides was typical for needing a wheel true/spoke replacement, charged me $40 this time. Lesson learned, won't be going to them for any bike repairs again. read more

They switched out pedals for us and we were set up with spare tubes and pumps, etc. in case we had issues on the trail (which we didn't).
