I work at Chromatics so my review is somewhat biased :). I am mostly posting in regards to one of the other reviews here. We DO NOT offer darkrooms for rent. While we do have one customer darkroom it is only equipped for film loading and unloading. If you have art that needs to be scanned for reproduction or archiving be sure to check out our Cruse Scanner. We are lucky to have this type of scanner in our area. The results are amazing. If your are a photographer who is looking for acrylic face-mounting we are THE place to come. We take finishing very seriously. read more

Chromatics will develop slides in about two hours, probably the fastest time in town. You can pick whether you want them mounted or not, and it's a lot cheaper if you mount them yourself, but hey, I'm no good at doing it, so I have them do it. I love the smell of this place. It smells like such a photography place and those yummy chemicals that can kill you. When I haven't had access to a darkroom, I've taken black and white negatives here and the staff will personally hand print them, including adding any cropping and dodging and burning you need. Obviously this is not cheap, but the product is impeccable. There are also private darkrooms here that you can rent. I'm not sure of the prices, but the rooms themselves are nicely equipped. They also have digital equipment available. I've been going to Chromatics for years and never received anything but the best. read more

Vicki at Chromatics printed a very special picture for me and did a great job- I provided the dimensions and yet the picture came out much larger than I had imagined (my own fault) so she very kindly printed a smaller copy for me when I mentioned that.. much to my delight and appreciation! We used their LARGE flatbed scanner to digitize a rare poster for historical preservation and student projects. We had them print a copy and the detail was.... WOW!! Chromatics can do good work on photos, but one of their employees literally stole a large, beautiful frame from me a few years ago that had been in my family for more than a century. The portrait inside the frame was so old that I took the framed portrait to the store and dropped it off because I didn't want the picture to fall apart, so I didn't try to remove it from the frame myself. When I returned to pick up the restored photo, the lady returned the old photo to me, along with the new, restored one, but not my original frame. When I asked her where the frame was, she tried to pretend like I had not dropped it off originally with the portrait of my relative. She never returned my frame to me. I'm very saddened by the whole thing. read more
