For: Alyssa at Chromatique Salon Yesterday, I had one of the most incredible and unexpected experiences. My husband and I were on our way to a wedding on Whidbey Island and had just missed the ferry we were hoping to catch. The silver lining was that it gave me a little extra time to finish my hair, which I had been hoping to do before we left home. I wanted to recreate the style I had worn for our own wedding--a middle part pulled back into a sleek, low bun. So there I was, standing outside our car in the ferry line, using the reflection in the car window as my mirror and attempting to make it happen with all the tools and supplies I had brought along. After a good 20 minutes, I finally gave up and decided I would just have to hope no one noticed the million bobby pins and elastic bands holding everything together. As a woman waiting in the car beside us walked by, I impulsively asked if she wouldn't mind telling me whether my hair looked alright--woman to woman! To my surprise, she told me she was actually a hairstylist and generously offered to take it apart and restyle it after I showed her a photo of what I was trying to achieve. I couldn't believe my luck. At that point, I probably would have accepted help from anyone, but what were the chances I happened to ask someone with 18 years of experience in the hair industry?! As she quickly and effortlessly worked on my hair, we started chatting and discovered even more coincidences: we were both named Alyssa (spelled the same way!), were the same age, and she worked at Chromatique in Gilman Village in Issaquah--a salon I've walked by hundreds of times. About 10 minutes later, my hair was pulled back into the most perfect, beautifully executed bun--honestly, even better than I had professionally done on my own wedding day! I offered to pay her or give her any of the food and drinks we had brought with us, but she politely declined and simply said she was happy to help. My hair stayed perfectly in place the entire night, and I received so many compliments. If this is the level of care and generosity Alyssa was willing to give a complete stranger, at a moment's notice and for nothing in return, I can only imagine the kind of service she provides her clients at Chromatique and the standards they have set as a salon. Life can be pretty incredible, and sometimes a completely unexpected encounter reminds you just how kind people can be. Thank you so much, Alyssa--not only for making my hair absolutely perfect for the wedding, but for reminding me how wonderful it is when a stranger goes out of their way to help someone simply because they can. I've been seeing Alyssa for 2 years now and truly cannot say enough good things about her. From cuts and color to giving honest, professional advice about my hair health, she always listens and keeps my long-term hair goals in mind so we're achieving the results I want while keeping my hair healthy. Don't go here. They do the haircut while your hair is dry, then wash and style it. I asked my stylist not to use thinning shears so she decided a dull razor was a good idea instead (see photos for result). Then continued to use the razor on the rest of the cut. She gave me a shag- it was HORRIBLE. My stylist was over half an hour late to the appointment and then at the end, tried to charge me an additional $65 for it because the "extra time" she needed to finish my cut went into the next appointment. She then used the excuse "you have really thick hair and it took more time to cut" for reason to charge me. After I asked her to clarify her reasoning when my appointment was scheduled for 60 minutes and only lasted 60 minutes, she changed the excuse to "well, we used special products on your hair." I don't trust people who change their stories to cover their tracks. Some people post negative reviews being overdramatic about small, picky details after one bad experience, just to convince you not to go somewhere - but even my mom went here, saw a different stylist than I did, and left upset with her cut. 3 months after her haircut, her hair ends were so dead and dry. Please trust me when I say this place is NOT worth your business. Go to Gene Juarez instead- you actually get what you ask/pay for and the grow out compliments the cut. read more

I wanted to love this local salon but it's a miss for me. Stylist was running 30 minutes late with no urgency to make up time. Wanted expert opinion on cut/color but she was very new and didn't give any tips/ideas. Took over 3 hours to foil. Had to go back to the sink bowl 3x because stylist wasn't used to the shampoo bowl and left product in my hair causing scalp irritation and redness. Only had time for quick trim because everything else took way too long. No place to put my bag so it just sat on the floor. I asked to have my root touch up match the color currently in my hair....a light brown. Instead I got orange roots. Nowhere in my hair are there any highlights or otherwise that is orange. When they asked me to rate them via email I gave them a low score and explained why. No one contacted or seem to care at all that my hair sucks. My bad experience happened twice in Bellevue location . (But these stylists go to both locations). I had huge mess up only within months of each other where I had to come in redo appt. If you get anything under the highest level stylist be very warned. They are not trained well. Not like I don't like color more .... like burn scalp and make shades off desired look. My hair was strawberry blonde. I did not want changes other than gray roots. She colored my roots black and had spots of vibrant fire red. She took 3 hrs to ruin my roots. She had plenty of co workers she could have ask opinion. Bit instead she guessed. She had chair turned so I couldn't see myself until last 3 mins . Then for the redo appt she asked mentor for guidance on her own which was great. She semi fixed hair but burned scalp in process. The stylist was very apologetic and nice. Im more upset for salon. Train ppl better. And when theres a mistake have salon actually contact you. And let u have a choice of original stylist with mentor/ or a new person. Feels very sad when u get no acknowledgement from them at all. Or any compensation for time and money. I spent hundred + to spend 7 hrs on so so fixed hair with burned scalp. read more

iLeah is quite literally my new favorite person. She is incredible!! For reference the last photo (long curled hair) was my original hair. I grew it out for 1.5 years and was ready for a cut and color. I wanted to go a little lighter and keep some length. I wanted layers and face framing. I went to another salon in Issaquah and had a terrible experience. The hair stylist completely butchered my layers and ruined my color. She gave me orange highlights. The first photo was the stylists attempt at "fixing" my color. It resulted in choppy layers, clumpy highlights, and red/orange hair (first photo). I was incredibly upset with such a bad job. The next morning I found this salon and iLeah had an opening. She called me and I told her everything. She was incredibly nice and assured me she could fix it. She had extra time and invited me in earlier than my appointment. She walked me through all options of color and cut. After we decided on an action plan we started. She talked me through everything she was doing, which made me feel so much better. She is sweet, friendly, and obviously talented!! The second photo was what I left with. Layers were blended and beautiful. The color was perfect and even better in the light. I left so happy she was able to fix my hair. Went in for the Keratin treatment (anti-frizz treatment) and was extremely disappointed. I spent close to 400$ and my hair did not show any improvement at all. It's a scam. When I reached out to them, they admitted they used an outdated product! They offered me a re-do but made me wait weeks, offered to do it at a different location (that is 20 miles away from where I stay) and gave me only 2 slots a month out from then to choose from - neither of them would work for me. When I asked for alternate slots, they made me feel like they are doing me a huge favor and their whole attitude was patronizing. I absolutely love the people here! Everyone was so kind and energetic to each other, their clients and even other people's clients. I came in as a walk in & the woman at the front desk said they could see me right away! I waited 7-10mins for a stylist to set up and then had a 5min consultation. I have long hair that nearly touches my behind, and I wanted a trim about 1/2inch and some curtain bangs.i was quoted $85. I had my hair brushed, shampooed, and a SLIGHT blowout because my hair would not dry. I was okay with this & told the stylist it's no problem as it was currently raining. Once my hair was dried she cut my bangs. I spend a total of $100 including a tip, and nearly 2 hours of my time to cut 1/2inch and bangs. Along with shampooing & styling. Now, I do know they price hair cuts according to the length of the clients hair, but holy shit. I came out of the salon 2hrs later with clean hair, 1/2inch shorter and $100 gone. Now, I will admit- I WAS TOLD BEFORE payment that it would be $85 and I AGREED. So my pockets hurting is my fault, 100%. It just feels like I tossed my money for absolutely nothing. Just know if you come into the salon& have "medium/long hair" you WILL spend a good chunk of change. So you better get something that is WORTH $85.anyways. I will put this in my bucket of stupid transactions I've made in my 20's and never come back. read more

I was searching for special occasion hair and makeup services when I came across all the positive reviews for Chromatique Salon. I was able to conveniently make an appointment online and ended up booking time with Gabriele. For first time visitors, the Issaquah salon is located inside Gilman Village to the left. Parking is available in the Village's private parking lot. As this was my first time getting my hair and makeup done professionally, I went in without any ideas or expectations. Gabriele, the stylist that I had made the appointment with, was very friendly and helpful right off the bat. After getting me settled in with a cup of coffee, she made some great suggestions for what she could do with my hair and makeup. I settled with trying a "sloppy bun" and some matte eye makeup with fake lashes. The whole appointment took about an hour and a half. Higher prices match the high-end salon, with my hair and makeup (with lashes) session ending up at around $160 including tip. Definitely pricier, but I loved the pampering, great customer service and overall end look. I felt pretty and dolled up after my session, and my makeup and hair were perfect through the afternoon and evening. Chromatique Salon definitely lives up to its positive reviews. :) read more
