When I asked about it, the staff immediately backed each other up and insisted on the charge. The situation was uncomfortable, and it was clear that arguing further would lead nowhere. I wasn't going to escalate things over $5, but that doesn't mean I was okay with what happened. I left feeling pressured, cornered, and frankly, taken advantage of. It's a real shame, because I never had any complaints about their actual service. The haircuts were fine. But now, their attitude has taken a serious nosedive--from approachable and professional to defensive and dismissive. That shift alone is enough to change how I see the entire business. My hair wasn't unusually long or complicated. The cut took the usual 30 minutes. And on previous visits, with similar hair length, I was never charged extra. Sometimes they even threw in a shampoo at no additional cost. This time, I paid more and got less--with no warning. If there's truly a policy to charge more for longer hair, that's fine. But it should be posted clearly and explained before the haircut begins--not mentioned casually in passing and treated as binding. Customers deserve transparency, not surprises at the register. In the end, this didn't feel like a business operating with integrity. It felt like they were making things up as they went, hoping customers wouldn't question it. I decided to give this place another chance. It turned out to be another disappointing service that left me so pissed that this will be my last visit. Hair was not completely covered. Gray roots still showing. The owner, Jessica, usually does my hair. She consistently colors my roots to match my hair without a written formula like most Salons. But the past several visits have been unsatisfactory and I am being kind. I Sadly, the lack of a written formula and Jessica on vacation resulted in the color disaster of the previous appointment. See previous review. Unfortunately this last experience instead of redemption was the last straw in a string of unsatisfactory service. After services were completed, Jessica offered an insultingly paltry $10 to remove the previous review. It is a paltry amount for discolored hair, I ended up covering up with temporary sprays and color sticks and the extra 1.5 hours in the salon for their attempt to fix it. Some of it shivering while waiting with wet hair. Most Salons would offer a full refund and not make the refund contingent on removing a review. The refund should have been offered at the end of the botched service. Due to the lack of customer service, accountability, and respect, I cannot remove the previous review. One of the stylists who worked on the botched color job upcharged $10 for unknown reasons at the previous visit. This time, I was charged a dollar for using a credit card. Essentially they were offering to refund me the mysterious $10 upcharge of the previous appointment to remove an honest review. Everytime there is an upcharge for something not listed on price sheet to which you are forced to pay. Definitely wouldn't go here for the the vibe. As much as I want to see small businesses succeed cannnot recommend and they have lost a longtime customer. I have left the salon angry and dissapointed too many times. Services have varied from acceptable to a disaster, with red roots and dark brown ends, uneven color with gray showing, abritrary upcharges and disrespect. Any feedback about services is rudely dismissed or turns into an argument This last visit although the color was good, the application was sloppy and the top of my head is showing alot of gray roots. I've only experienced a men's haircut at this salon but the haircuts have always been solid. Place could be a little cleaner but for the great price of ($15) for a men's haircut it's fine to overlook that part. The two asian lady hairstylists there are both great at cutting men's hair. I told her I wanted a number one guard used all the way around my head and a finger length box cut on the top. She proceeded to cut my hair without any guard completely not what I wanted and then used larger guards to cut the rest of my hair give me a round cut instead of a box cut. The woman who cut my hair clearly does not know how to cut hair if she has to use clipper guards Instead of scissors. She then proceeded to tell me that she couldn't give me a box cut because that would be a flat top. The lady does not know how to style hair. I do not recommend this place if you're taking your children and you don't care what their hair looks like and you just want to cut then this would be the idea place, but if you want a hairstyle For men, this is not the place. Moved to Seattle in the summer and have been looking for a good spot for a men's cut. Went to a few before I stumbled upon this spot. Jessica was great taking care to evaluate the cut throughout. My hair is effed up from a big chain salon and Jessica was able to help me out. Even as I was about to walk out, she noticed a small area that needed a tiny fix and she brought be back for a little snip. Even though I live in Seattle, I'll be coming here for my cut. I've been to this salon a few times now and am always pleased with the haircut. The same lady is always working (I'm terrible and don't know her name still) but she always answers the phone and finds time for a last minute appointment/walk-in. A downside of that is that even if you have an "appointment" at 4, she may have accepted someone else as a walk-in earlier and your time slot gets pushed back a bit. However, she is very fast and efficient, and does a good job. Prices are very reasonable and if you don't get your hair washed or styled, the price is less. Depending on how much of a rush I'm in is whether or not I'll ask for her to wash my hair (note: this isn't a high end salon, so the hair wash isn't always as relaxing as if you went somewhere else, so you get what you pay for). Like SK and Andrea, I too felt my cut was uneven. Jessica had a strong accent which made communication tough. I requested "a tiny trim, only enough to ensure my hair stays healthy because I'm growing it out". Prior to the trim she only wet the bottom 3 inches (hair is slightly wavy) and she did not ask where/how I part my hair. During the cut she did not compare pieces from each side to ensure evenness. When finished I politely said it looked uneven (shorter on left side). I think she then said it was supposed to be that way given how it was parted (language barrier). I asked if she could please straighten the ends so that I could see if it looked even that way. After straightening she cut more before handing me the mirror. I told her I thought it still looked uneven but that I would prefer her to not cut more. I said I'd evaluate further later and call if I wanted more trimmed. She seemed receptive to this, welcoming me back if I still found it uneven later. I appreciated her willingness to try to make it right. She then trimmed more, so maybe she did not understand / hear when I said I'd prefer no more cutting. I did not speak up (lesson learned), but it still seemed uneven to me. When leaving I looked at the hair trimmings on the floor and noticed many of them looked to be about 2 inches long, which was far more than I wanted trimmed. I should have been more specific with how little I wanted trimmed (another lesson learned), but the amount still felt excessive given my original request. I prefer stylists to check in before cutting this amount off, especially given I was a new client. I recently moved to the Issaquah area and I was overdue for a haircut. After reading raving reviews on Yelp, I booked an appointment with Christiana. During the consultation, I advised my hair has a natural wave and I use a curling iron 1-2 times a week to polish the waves. Christiana said she would cut my hair so I wouldn't have to use any heat products - perfect! She even showed me a Victoria's Secret catalog to show how my hair would look. I asked for long layers, no shorter than chin-length to frame my face. Here's where it went south, before I knew it, she was cutting a lot of short layers to make my hair curly. After the cut, she scrunched product in it and ran a diffuser to make my hair super curly :( I kept saying my hair was not this curly but what I should have said is I don't like my hair super curly - an error on my part. I'm not sure why Yelp lists 1 $ sign for the price range as I ended up paying $50 for a shampoo and cut when the sign says $30+ in the salon. I understand the up charge for thick hair but I did not expect to pay $20 more. I hate giving bad reviews especially because she was nice. However, for the price I paid, I did not feel satisfied with the outcome.
