I had to cancel my appointment and gave almost 48 hours of notice because I found out my mother only hours or days to live. Sabina had 0 compassion - none, whatsoever! She actually stated that she had four kids and had to go in to work because she didn't get my message. She also questioned my integrity by asking "Why are you calling now if you left a message?" I called again to make sure she received the message. It is not my fault that she doesn't have a higher level of technology to receive messages or have a competent staff. This is supposed to be an "Affluent" establishment and have the best of the best of everything. Their prices most certainly are the highest. I will not ever go there again! They are there to pamper and give great customer service and instead they are dispassionate. read more

I've been going here since the old location (about 10 years). Best facials in Houston. I have had them from everyone - Sabina, Claudia, Linda and Liliana - they seriously know their stuff. They will help you with whatever your particular issues are and will customize your facial accordingly. They also have tremendous expertise with regard to products and carry all the best lines. I am disappointed to have to lower my previous rating. Since Chrysalis has moved to the new location, I have noticed a change in Sabina. I feel I am treated like just another person to push procedures and products on. The hugs that used to be given with warmth feel stilted and forced. I have had facials all over Houston. After six months of stellar care from the fabulous professionals at Chrysalis, my search has ended. Owner Sabina Benavides is passionate about her client's skin. She has an incredibly intuitive nature that gets to the heart of the matter, resolving issues that contribute to one's lackluster/problematic complexion. My initial visits were with Sabina but I have since learned that her staff is just as capable due to her wonderful management and leadership. The facials are customized and effective. I have experienced major changes in both the tone and texture of my skin. Chrysalis has an incredible collection of skin care products (only select products from select lines, carefully chosen by Sabina). They recommend specific products for very targeted results. I have loved the way my skin has responded to the products by Eminence (which I had never heard of, and I'm a product junkie) as well as the new VitaminC serum product from SkinCeuticals as well as several of the Obagi products - all specifically recommended for my particular issues. I also had a light chemical peel, which was definitely beneficial. I look forward to experiencing more of what they have to offer (for my whole body!). I called on the morning of Valentine's Day because I had a sinus headache and I was looking for a sinus massage. I was able to get an appointment within about an hour or so. I arrived for my appointment at 10:30am with Michelle. Everyone was really nice and the sinus massage was great. I think it runs about 30 minutes or so. My sinuses was extra clogged and I am trying to live a life that doesn't depend on OTC meds to deal with sinus issues. Not too long after the massage, my sinuses had begun to drain down the back of my throat, which, if you have these issues you know, is not pleasant. But the drainage/movement at all is better than just having the sinuses clogged and causing pain/pressure. By the end of the massage, I felt some pretty immediate relief that lasted most of the day. I continued to do regular flushes every few hours with my neti pot as well and I was ultimately able to enjoy my Saturday. By Sunday night, I was even more improved. Normally, sinus headaches can run 3-4 days with me. With the sinus massage, my neti pot, and a decent amount of water (not as much as I should have had, that's for sure), I was feeling better in a reduced amount of time. It was $45 and there was a bit of an issue when I asked them to add the tip to the amount instead of running it twice. She thought I was leaving a $55 tip instead of asking her to run the total for $55, so they had to issue a refund. Not a big deal because stuff happens, but it's a lesson in phrasing for everyone. read more

Anca is simply amazing!!!!! She really listened and understood my skin issues. I am very picky about facials due to my sensitive skin and I must say, she really nailed it! They use eminence products and dermalogica, which I love. The place is sparkling clean and very relaxing. They recently started to carry some jewelry which is very nice. Came in here on a whim to get my eyebrows waxed and I'm glad I did. They use hard wax rather than strip wax. I've never experienced hard "European" wax before, but it was softer on my skin and didn't pull as much as strip wax does. I left and you could hardly tell I got my eyebrows done today. It was also not as expensive as I thought it would be. To get my eyebrows waxed, I was charged $20. Not too bad when the Benefit Brow Bar also charges the same price. The ambiance is really nice too. I don't think I've ever been so relaxed while getting my eyebrows waxed. I took away one star because I think it's pretty expensive for all their other services. I would come back for waxing or a manicure/pedicure, but I'm not sure I would come for a massage. read more

When I arrive for my appointment, she is there at the front desk to greet me. Her room is relaxing with beautiful "Linda" touches. My skin is super sensitive and I am reluctant to try new things. Chrysalis is by far one of the nicest spas I've ever been to. Their facilities are immaculate and their staff are helpful and down-to-earth. I received an amazing and super relaxing facial from Kellie. She did microdermabrasion, massage, extractions, and even used some kind of space-age blue light to speed healing. It's been rare in my experience to get a facial that is both effective and enjoyable but Kellie made it happen! On my way home I even got carded at the grocery store and I'm way over 21. I'm at Chrysalis at least once a month and I love it. The atmosphere is quiet and calming but not stuffy. I see Flower once a month for a spa chair pedicure. All the most current polish choices and individualized, relaxing care. Flower knows my feet like the back of her hand and takes great care of them! My choice for aestheticians is Linda Bordwell. She's provided my facials, microdermabrasions and microneedling treatments with professionalism and perfection. My favorite treatment is the microneedling. So great for lines, pores and scars! Linda has delicate hands and knows when to be gentle and when to get a little more aggressive. She's always given me great advice regarding skin care products but never subjects me to a hard sell. Really appreciate that. I already have my next two appointments booked! Love these two! read more

I only have a phone call to base this review, but decided not to book my appointment based on that experience. I requested an appointment time that was an hour away, as my afternoon unexpectedly freed up. The receptionist offered me a couple of different avaulable times. I have been to many spas and salons over my lifetime and understand that it is common policy to request a credit card to reserve your appointment, but typically the front desk staff will go ahead and book the appointment and allow you to call back with the number. I didn't have my wallet close by at the time and asked to call back with the number, but the receptionist said no. That she couldn't book the appointment and that I would have to call back to book. Now this may not have been as big of an issue to me or I would have understood the business stressing the need of the cc#, if there was a wait list of people trying to get into the spa or I was trying to book an appointment much further out, but I was booking an appointment that was an hour away with an esthetician that clearly had availability, and the only response from the receptionist was, "well, that's our policy." To me this is just as silly as a business with a 24 hour cancellation policy and charging you if you called to reschedule at 23.5 hours. This really created an unwelcoming feeling and I decided not to move forward with booking. There are just too many other nice spas in town. read more

Chrysalis Day Spa is a local neighborhood treasure nestled in a shopping center near Greenway Plaza/Rice Village. The parking lot seems to always be busy and full and that would be my only complaint. The spa itself is all about service, quality, and giving you the whole experience of a relaxing day at the spa. The decor is lovely, has sort of a Moraccan feel to it, and the reception desk and everyone I have dealt with is friendly and attentive. Some spas/salons can act really snooty, but not here. They are all about YOU. I have seen Kellie for facials, waxing, and microdermabrasion, and I followed her from the previous employer/salon to Chrysalis spa. Thank goodness it's still in my neighborhood, though I would drive all the way across town for her! She brings life back to my skin every time I see her, and after just 2 microdermabrasion treatments I noticed a huge improvement in my fine lines and wrinkles, it seems to melt away signs of aging. Kellie always recommends the best skincare products for me, and what i use (compared to drugstore products) makes a big difference. You wear your face EVERY DAY, so it's important to take care of it! Kellie is an expert aesthetician, and she has earned my business for as long as I'm living in Houston. Now that she is at Chrysalis, I will be continuing to go there to see her, and enjoying their serene ambience and all that they have to offer. read more
