In this time, Dr. Sakamoto and his staff have been courteous, professional, and caring. There has never been a time when his staff did not conduct the different eye tests efficiently. Dr. Sakamoto listens and answer my questions thoroughly. He is busy, but the office staff has been able to fit us in to see him for emergencies. They submit my claims to insurance accurately, which is a lifesaver if you have ever had to deal with discrepancies with a health insurer.

This charge was paid entirely at my own expense, since this service was considered non-medical essential and not covered by medical insurance. The surgery on my left eye did not go well. Dr. Goldberg left big pieces of cataract fragments floating around in my eye. As a result, my left eye developed a secondary infection and I was required to have a Vitrectomy surgery with Dr. Gasperini at South Coast Retina Center, on July 17th 2024, which was a very invasive surgery. Before that procedure was done, I was not able to see with my left eye. At the end of September, I was informed by Torrance Surgery Center, a refund of $1,427.24 would be credited back to me due to the fact that doctor Goldberg did not put a Toric IOL lens in my left eye, instead he inserted a standard PIECE lens, without my knowledge and my consent. This standard PIECE lens does not correct astigmatism! Dr. Goldberg's office never informed me that a standard PIECE lens had been inserted in my left eye rather than the Toric IOL lens until I confronted him with the knowledge I learned from Torrance Surgery Center in October, which is 4 months after my surgery date. The fact that Dr. Goldberg did not inform me of this is highly unprofessional and should be considered as medical fraud. Upon confrontation, Dr. Goldberg only offered me reimbursement of a fraction of the $3,700 I paid for the premium Toric IOL lens conditioned on me signing a release for all claims which I did not accept. I am requesting that Dr. Goldberg reimburse me the $3,700 for the Toric IOL lens I did not receive, until today, I still haven't got any reimbursement at all. I want to warn the other patients such despicable practice can exist in a seemingly reputable ophthalmologist such as Dr.Damien Goldberg.

Long and truthful review incoming: The staff is not welcoming and warm like an eye doctor's office staff should be. If you have plans later that day, do not go to your appointment or you will miss your plans. They leave you in the waiting room for over an hour and say nothing to you until you get up and ask. Then you sit in a second waiting room where the same thing happens and the lady who sits at the desk next to the second waiting room is rude. I went in for a pterygium removal surgery. Joshi messed up my surgery causing scarring and an issue causing so much discomfort that I had to come back 3 days after my surgery for him to fix it. First off they did not even give me pain medication for recovery. They told me to go home and take tylenol and advil and no I am not embellishing. Anyways, He then had me sit in the chair to try and fix his mistake and used metal tweezers in my eye trying to grab and unfold the graft that he had messed up while I was under no medication. This caused me excruciating pain and it was like he did not care. He has ZERO bedside manner as a doctor and acts like you're a burden for having made an appointment, he is not thorough in his explanations and he rushes through everything. The surgery he did on my eye was so bad I had to go to a second doctor to fix the surgery and even that doctor said how poor a job Joshi did on my surgery. It cost $1700 for the surgery which I paid out of pocket. Then over the next two months I was sent a $505.50 bill for anesthesia, a $526.50 bill for cost of surgery, a $250.00 bill for being a new patient, and a $95.00 bill for...who even knows. If you care about your eyes, please do not let this doctor operate on you. Go see someone else and you will thank me later.

I first saw Dr. Gallemore for a detached retina and he saw me immediately and did a great job…read morerepairing it. But .... he continued to have me come back for recheck after recheck for YEARS and each time made a new diagnosis, did a new procedure or test. He diagnosed macular degeneration and sold me his vitamins. He did umpteen fluorescent dye tests. He laser zapped what he said were minor detachments umpteen times. He had me on drops for unresolved inflammation of my retina for years. When I finally trusted my gut and saw a new retinologist he confirmed I don't have macular degeneration and there was no inflammation. And the drops weren't even meant to treat inflammation. It's been years and I've never needed a dye test or laser zap again so all that testing and treatment was undoubtedly just padding the medicare bill. And his office is a mill - appointments are meaningless and each visit is hours of wait time for a flash bang visit with him. Worse than all that, my husband made an appointment to see Gallemore and without notice was given some new guy. He literally wouldn't hear the history - "I just need to look at your eyes". And he sent him home failing to diagnose ocular stroke which could have killed him. The new Retinologist sent my husband from his office directly to the ER for a stroke workup. Bottom line is I think Gallemore is smart and competent but his penchant for making up problems and doing treatments and tests that are not without risk makes him a danger.

She is very methodical, caring and happy to answer your questions. The whole cataract surgery was quick and easy. As a dentist my vision is critical so I thoroughly researched him and found that he truly is the best in Southern California. My vision is too important to me to trust to anyone else.

I've had disabling double vision for a decade due to a neuromuscular issue. I've had the big names…read morein neuro-ophthalmology tell me surgery wouldn't help because of my diagnosis. I had surgery a few years ago at UCLA that failed and they didn't seem to care about that at all. A few opthamologists recommended Dr Wright and he fixed me! I see some reviews here that I can't comprehend. My experience has been great from day one. His staff are fantastic- always kind and always providing me information immediately. Dr Wright is certainly a different kind of human being- maybe even on the spectrum- which could explain some folks being put off by his demeanor. (I found him to be delightful, but I get that not everyone has the same experience.) Or maybe they got him on a bad day? It just doesn't seem possible that he mistreated anyone. My experience was wonderful every time I went to the office and after my surgery. Dr Wright was always kind, funny, and engaged and I could tell he wanted to fix my double vision because he loves helping people. After surgery he called me at home to make sure I was ok. I have never had a surgeon do that. He's definitely different; but in my experience he's different in a wonderful and refreshing way. I've never had a surgeon spend so much time talking to me. (And sadly, I've had many surgeries). But enough about his personality... the bottom line is that HE FIXED ME. If you have a difficult case, you have to see this Dr. He's brilliant and he literally wrote the book on eye muscle surgery. He fixed my vision and changed my life and many other Drs said they couldn't help me.
