I first saw Dr. Gallemore for a detached retina and he saw me immediately and did a great job repairing it. But .... he continued to have me come back for recheck after recheck for YEARS and each time made a new diagnosis, did a new procedure or test. He diagnosed macular degeneration and sold me his vitamins. He did umpteen fluorescent dye tests. He laser zapped what he said were minor detachments umpteen times. He had me on drops for unresolved inflammation of my retina for years. When I finally trusted my gut and saw a new retinologist he confirmed I don't have macular degeneration and there was no inflammation. And the drops weren't even meant to treat inflammation. It's been years and I've never needed a dye test or laser zap again so all that testing and treatment was undoubtedly just padding the medicare bill. And his office is a mill - appointments are meaningless and each visit is hours of wait time for a flash bang visit with him. Worse than all that, my husband made an appointment to see Gallemore and without notice was given some new guy. He literally wouldn't hear the history - "I just need to look at your eyes". And he sent him home failing to diagnose ocular stroke which could have killed him. The new Retinologist sent my husband from his office directly to the ER for a stroke workup. Bottom line is I think Gallemore is smart and competent but his penchant for making up problems and doing treatments and tests that are not without risk makes him a danger. read more

Wait time can be three hours but he is doing emergencies at times. Finally got two other Doctors on staff. Parking building you pay. Suggestion book 8AM appointment. Ps I felt some tests unnecessary and Medicare build up 1000 or so. We pay for the machine. Note my regular eye Dr stopped one of Rons meds for me which was off label and taken for years and very publicly expensive. Four Stars since he gave me his cell for emergencies and he saved my sight. Agree with all the folks who mentioned the inexcusable wait times, overcrowded waiting rooms, and an extremely arrogant manner. My mother has had to have her procedure done in his office because the place was too packed. His "God Bless" is dismissive and offensive. I think he is the God he has in mind when he says it. And are those horrible pictures of his children still up? He's a good doctor in terms of his knowledge and skill, but he needs to work on his assholishness, poor business practices, and patient comfort. read more

Dr. Gallemore has been taking care of my eyes for over 15 years. I truly respect his knowledge, expertise, and decision-making process. Through a series of eye injections and surgeries, he has protected and improved my vision for which I will be eternally grateful. Front office staff is rude and waiting room is always packed. You get an appointment and wait up to 1 to 2 hours just to be called to sit in another waiting room to see the doctor. After 3 hours of waiting, the doctor finally comes in and doesn't acknowledge you, just reviews the computer chart and talks to his MA. Then leaves. Maybe 3 minute tops. What a joke! read more

Agree with other reviewers here that Dr Gallemore is arrogant and dismissive. I gave him a fair shot, around 6 visits, wanting desperately to find a good Optho in the area to get me back on track and take care of my eye disease. I tried to overlook his extremely long wait times and bedside manner- and would gladly do so if I felt progress was being made. Sadly it felt like an assembly line every time compounded with the Dr extremely quick to dismiss and even bad talk prior diagnosis made by Opthamologist's at UCLA and San Francisco Eye Institute. With no alternative solutions that helped my discomfort. Please care about your patients, their history and their time and above all try to help them solve the issue at hand. read more

There's not a more qualified nor dedicated Retina specialist out there! Dr. Gallemore fit me into his schedule right before New Year's a few years ago. Every other eye specialist in the Los Angeles, including the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA, was closed for the holidays. (Dr. Gallemore's staff has many stories of his treating patients at all hours of the day and on holidays). Thanks to Dr. Gallemore's incredible work ethic and his dedication to serve patients, he saved my eyesight with emergency laser surgery! When my husband recently noticed floaters and flashing in one of his eyes, I immediately called Dr. Gallemore's office. As was my experience, my husband was fit into Dr. Gallemore's already packed schedule! That examination revealed not only a retinal tear that required surgery in the eye of concern, but Dr. Gallemore diagnosed a much more extensive tear behind the other eye as well- One that if ignored would have definitely resulted in a complete detachment! While there may be other retinologists that are equally experienced, I am certain that they are non-equal in dedication and commitment to patients! read more

Dr. Gallemore is definitely running an assembly line operation. His waiting room is always full & my visits ranged from 2.5 - 3 hrs. When he'd finally arrive to the exam room, he would not even acknowledge me, or make eye contact. He'd walk directly to the charts on the wall. While he was cold and calculating, he managed to throw out a "God bless" as he rushed out to see the next patient. He was highly insensitive in delivering terrible news to me, even in the presence of my 11 year old daughter. After 3 months he finally figured out what my problem was. I was medically fine, but going through the experience with him as my doctor was emotionally stressful and honestly, traumatic. read more

I was originally sent to Dr. Gallemore as an emergency, 4 years ago for white lazer flashes coming from the side of my right eye. I went in on a Monday am and had immediate lazer surgery, saved my vision. I had to follow up every six months, but got lazy and miss a year and half of appointments. I now have a hole in the retina to be fixed and scar tissue removal on Monday at Good Samaritan. Don't blow your appointments. This whole thing started cause from multiple head injuries over the years, now it just age. His office is fast paced, highly professional, professional staff, but busy as hell. Dr G and his team are very kind and understanding with my handicapped, artistic, deaf mute brother. He has had to have multiple laser treatments due to his diabetes. Dr G really stays on top of my brothers eye care. He has also saved the sight in my left eye when I had s retinal detachment. It is very caring that they have coffee and cookies available in the darkened room as you wait for your eyes to dilate. I don't trust anyone else with my families eyes! read more

I have been here several times. The assistants are professional and friendly. But their admin is terrible. when I got referral from my optometry, they lost the fax that was sent from the office multiple times claiming they never got them. I finally decided to obtain a hard copy of the letter and bring it in person for the first appointment. Then the wait is usually very long. 2-3 hours to get your 3min check-up from a good looking Dr. who hangs his own portrait photography in the waiting room. Oh and every time they send me a bill, there is a mistake. I suppose the doc might be a good retina specialist, but try to avoid here unless you really serous condition that require a surgery or so. read more

I brought my grandmother to Dr. Gallemore due to Macular degeneration. Not only was the front desk EXTREMELY helpful when I called but they were very helpful when we arrived. We did have a small wait but I can't remember the last time I didn't have a wait for a superb doctor. Once we were in the room we had an assistant help us right away. They were very helpful and ran tests. We didn't wait too long for the tests and then the Doctor came in and was very informative. He even did other tests and gave us so much information. I have recommended people to him and his offices. I think he is fantastic and I would continue to drive from Santa Monica to see the best. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr. Gallemore!!! read more

i waited for more than 2 hours for doctor and he came only for 5 mins. he checked my eyes very quickly and didn't listen my queries. He just recorded his observation in computer and i got printout of his recorded results. That it and they asked me to come back after 2-3 months for more test. Beware the office is unorganized. You will be there a minimum of 3hrs to see the Dr. for 30 secs. He is rude, arrogant, and confused due to trying to see so many patients in one day. People everywhere. He missed diagnosed me and I almost lost my vision. He is in such a rush that he did not read my chart to see a certain medication I should have stopped taking. I have seen Dr Gallemore for the past 5 years for a detached retina. Under his care he used laser and cold welding to securely reattach it. I get regular 6 month checkups to track for any changes. He has an extremely busy office which may take some a little getting used to. Prior to him seeing me his office staff does regular testing before he comes to my office seat. When he gets to me checks my eyes and looks at my retina photos I believe I am getting the best care possible for my eyes. He is extremely diligent and caring. There are reviews on Yelp about him that worried me at first. After being treated by Dr Gallemore I realized that these are bogus hateful comments that are unwarranted. He is a great Dr and am thankful he is taking care of me. read more

Just to clear up some previous reviews: 1. Dr. Gallemore's assistants are college graduates interested in going to medical school. They are insanely busy but not scared of the doctor. Additionally, they are personable and confirming what the computer file says. Yes, they do ask questions. Good! 2. Assistants are required to run tests, put on drops, update files , etc., because Dr. Gallemore sees an incredible number of patients. Your time is brief with him But he is thorough , careful. And considerate. Go prepared with your questions and you will get answers . The best patient is a prepared patient. 3. I was sent by an optometrist very quickly after he saw something in one eye he was worried about. I got an appointment immediately but yes it took a long time because a lazer procedure needed done immediately . Yes it was a lot of waiting but worth the proactive and capable treatment. 4. Run as fast as you can in the opposite direction. Charming and Charismatic does not a Good Doctor Make. The 8x10 Color Glossy Brochure of Dr. Gallemore is highly impressive; much like a menu at a sub-level restaurant, you know, the kind with pictures... Dr. Gallemore promised the world and delivered nothing. He claimed affiliations with the most highly-credentialed Universities in Southern California and, in fact, there is no documentable affiliation. Going to a football game does not constitute an affiliation. Dr. Gallemore claimed that he would treat my family member and make certain that all was going to be just fine. Instead... his team intentionally misplaced pertinent samples from a vitrectomy that rendered the samples un-readable. They personally told me that they did not send the samples for 4+ months because "that is a big university and they can lose things there". When questioned further, they did not advise anyone of their decision, they just made a rogue decision and stopped the process from moving forward. Many months later, we are at the "Big University" which the "self-modeled, self-entitled, semi-famous Dr. Gallemore" claims to have an affiliation with, and my family member has full-blown CNS Lymphoma. Symptoms to the casual observer were prevalent two years ago. At present, our family has run, as fas as we could in the opposite direction once we realized the highest level of incompetency within Dr. Gallemore (and I use the term Dr. here quite lightly) and his supporting teams. If you care about your family members and you suspect that there might be something serious going on, seek help elsewhere. Go to Kaiser. Go to UCLA. Jules Stein Eye Institute is amazing, has highly credentialed specialists for all eye problems, and it is not too far away. They will certainly help you and I hope that this review will help you question whether you are being drawn in by a self-entitled, charismatic man without a conscience or maybe you should get a second opinion.
