I want to share the excellent experience I had with Dr.Jonathan Downing at SanPedro eye. I was count fingers with cataracts on both eyes. Dr Downing did the dropless surgery, now my vision is perfect in both eyes. I had no pain or discomfort during or after the procedure. My surgery was done 2 weeks apart for both eyes. Prior to coming to NVision, I had consultations at two other eye centers. I have a high prescription of -7 in my right eye and -8 in my left eye, along with significant astigmatism. Both centers informed me that I wasn't eligible for LASIK due to my high prescription and that my only options were PRK or ICL. PRK involves a longer recovery time, which would be challenging for me as I have a toddler to take care of. A friend recommended NVision, where she had LASIK a few years ago. Although it's an hour away from my home, I decided to schedule a consultation at their Torrance location. To my surprise, the doctor told me I was eligible for LASIK! I was so happy to hear that. I had my LASIK surgery at their Fullerton location, and the experience was excellent. Dr. Arakaki explained everything thoroughly during the consultation and answered all of my questions. During the surgery itself, Dr. Lusby talked me through every step of the process, which made me feel at ease. I wasn't nervous at all because I knew I was in good hands. The procedure was very quick, and while I did feel some pressure on my eyes, it was completely painless. After the surgery, I went home and rested. When I woke up the next morning, I could already see clearly with perfect vision! The recovery process was very fast, and I didn't experience any pain. In fact, I was able to attend a dinner appointment the day after my surgery. While I did notice some glare around lights at night, it wasn't painful, just a little uncomfortable. During the first week of recovery, I resumed my normal activities, including working on my computer, without experiencing dryness. However, I did notice a slight stinging sensation in my eyes at the end of the day when I was tired, but it was manageable. Now I'm 2 months post op, and I don't feel any discomfort or dryness at all, and I'm not using eye drops anymore. One downside of my experience was the long wait times at the Fullerton location. During my pre-op checkup, I was told it would take about an hour, but it ended up being three hours. I also waited for about 40 minutes in the room before seeing the doctor. The Torrance location has shorter wait times. After wearing glasses for over 30 years, I am beyond thrilled to finally be free of them--and contacts too! Summary: Opportunity for some improvement, but staff are friendly. Doctors are professional and curteous. I am satisfied with my results. What follows are the frustrations that I experienced: - I never received initial drops instructions after booking my procedure appointment with Briana. I asked about them via email and didn't hear back. Generally, responsiveness and communication could be better. - The day before the procedure, I got an email with my consent forms and no chance to review the with the doctor beforehand. They were supposed to be delivered a week before the procedure, but weren't. When filling the forms out, I wasn't even clear who my doctor was going to be for the procedure or pre/post-op. - The consent forms have no option to opt out of PRK, so just make sure to let them know if you don't want to do that in the event that LASIK isn't an option. - When getting prepped for my procedure, I was told I'd be taking a sleeping pill after I got home and to take it after eating a "comfort meal". I hadn't prepared to have food before bed, so that would have been nice to know in advance. - The text message received on the day of procedure said to arrive an hour early, but that wasn't necessary. We arrived at 3:30pm for a 4pm appointment, but the procedure actually happened at 6pm. - The sleeping pill didn't knock me out (not a complaint, just a note). - When being prepped for the procedure, I was told that if I wake up in the middle of the night I should take melatonin or Nyquil, but that wasn't mentioned prior (and thus I didn't have either of those if they were needed). - The price here is higher than any of the other places I got an estimate from, but they do have discounts during the holidays and a "lifetime guarantee". The Contoura software is an extra $700. - The documents with the eye drop regiment "no caffeine on the day of", but the text message on the day of the appointment said no caffeine 4 hours prior. It's unclear if others have had similar difficulties with their experience, but they are all things that can be addressed. The important bit is the surgery has been successful, and the follow-ups have been thorough and positive. If you're interested in doing LASIK, I'd recommend it, and if you are in the South Bay it's probably the best and closest option around. It may not be the cheapest, but it should still be worth it. read more

Having Laser Eye surgery was the best decision I made in my life and I wish I had done it sooner! I had 4 consultations. I went with the consultations from lists of best doctors in LA, some friend recommendations, and recommendations from my optometrist. I did a ton of research and read everything and talked to everyone and ultimately went with NVISION for many reasons. I liked the lifetime guarantee, I liked their outcomes, the cost and Dr. Lusby's track record. I originally had Lindsay as my liaison and she was nice but left but then put me in the great hands of Courtney. I asked Courtney so many questions, I also asked her questions after my other consults. She explained things very well. I also enjoyed all the discounts (healthcare worker, friend referral, VSP insurance, paying with my HSA, etc). The only negatives were my first appointment. I wasn't super impressed with the office staff, friendliness and wait time. I let Courtney know and the next time I went the service was excellent (not just for me but for everyone). Another thing that annoyed me is that since I work in healthcare I had more drops to do and I specifically bought them from the clinic for $100 so that I could get the combo drops. But I didn't realize they didn't even give me the combo drops because "they were out of it". I felt like they should have had them stocked.... My assessment went well and I loved Dr. Shin. I asked her a lot of questions before and even after my surgery. She was very knowledgable and explained expectations very well. The day of my surgery I met Dr. Shin in person! She was fantastic! Daniella was lovely as well. She took really good care of me before and after my surgery. Dr. Lusby is really personable, kind and funny. He also explained the procedure well. Everyone put me at ease. My partner was also allowed to watch the surgery which was nice. I was surprised how much I had to be involved in the surgery (you have to look at a light). I was nervous I would ruin it somehow but the team was supportive and assured me I was doing a good job. It was very very quick. The team coordinated well with my optometrist for follow-up appointments. They checked in on me after the surgery. I even had a question a month out (i had an allergic reaction unrelated to my surgery, but my eyes got puffy) and they answered my questions as well. They have an on call number! I'm almost a year out from surgery. I see 20/15. Before surgery I was -5 in each eye and my corneas were thin 480. I don't even have night glares anymore which they told me I could possibly have. I got a consultation done at NVISION because they were listed as one of the few LASIK providers my insurance could provide a discount on. I also knew a couple of friends who had gotten their eyes done at NVISION recently and another who had gotten a consultation so I knew generally how much it would cost. So I figured with a discount, why not check it out? Well, for some insane reason, NVISION quoted me about $1500 more for LASIK than any comparable place in the city center of LA. And that discount? Yeah they do everything to inflate your quote with random BS so there is no discount. I ended up getting LASIK done elsewhere and guess what, it was great! And again, cost $1500 less. No idea what NVISION thinks it's doing to justify such a steep cost in comparison, but I would certainly do my research if I were you. read more

Hi, I've never written a review before, but I think that eyes are important, and would like to help others who might be feeling anxious comparing between places. Initially, I went to 4 different Lasik consultations, and wasn't satisfied with the first 3 them. At other places I either felt pressured from their "sales" person, the lasers weren't the most recent, or that they didn't work with my VSP insurance. After deciding on NVISION in Torrance, I asked my eye doc about the procedure and he said he normally referred his patients to NVISION as well. NVISION's staff are courteous and the technicians are quite knowledgeable. I found NVISON to more costly compared to other clinics, but I figured I only have one pair of eyes in this lifetime and it really wasn't something I wanted to take a risk with. I am very pleased with the results of the Contoura Lasik procedure I had done. The surgery lasted only 15 minutes. Apparently, Dr Lusby did such an amazing job, that my post-op doctor said she could barely even tell the procedure had been done the previous day. My vision the next day was 20/15 in my left eye, and 20/20 in my right eye, which has steadily improved to being able to see 20/10 today in left and 20/15 - 20/10 in my right. The only downside so far is intense halos (I had -5.5 in both eyes before) which have steadily improved over the course of the week and have been told will be likely to improve further. Even if they don't, I still think I'd be quite satisfied with the results so far. I highly recommend NVISION. read more

Yes I am another absolutely ecstatic LASIK patient thanks to NVISION Eye Centers in Torrance!!! I thought about getting LASIK for quite a while and decided to finally find out more information when I got an eye exam and realized I either needed to order new contacts or buy new lenses/frames. My optometrist (Del Rey Optometry) referred me to NVISION and I had a consultation with Vanessa on October 7th, 2021. A month later, I scheduled my surgery for the first week in December. Yes, I was nervous (so nervous) but NVISION made me feel comfortable and confident for so many reasons. 1) The consultation was totally risk and commitment free. I actually had to reach back out to NVISION to move things along! They did not pester me to make an appointment or anything like that. 2) When I was there for my consultation, I texted my cousin who has since moved back to New York where he had his eye surgeries while he was living in SoCal. Well, low and behold, as I'm sitting at NVISION, he texts me the contact information for NVISION. #meanttobe 3) The pricing seemed reasonable. I will say that NVISION asked me if I had insurance and what kind I had (and miraculously said some of the surgery is covered) but I think it was just a sales tactic. I was never asked for my insurance card yet still received the "insurance pricing." 4) There was plenty of availability to schedule my surgery and it was convenient even with my fulltime work schedule. 5) Doctor Lusby is very well know, professional, and truly an expert. 6) On the day of the surgery, NVISION will provide some "relaxing" medication(s) to ease your anxiety. It worked. For sure. 7) Recovery time was minimal. 8) UMMM, I CAN SEE!!! I could truly keep going with this list but just know this is truly one of the best decisions I have ever made. I had my custom LASIK procedure yesterday and cannot emphasize enough how impressed I am with the incredible staff, procedures, cleanliness, and results! I started wearing glasses when I was 10 years old and - prior to today - could not remember a time when I could wake up and see without the help of glasses or contacts. For years, I put off considering the procedure because I knew that it would require me to be awake. But, every single member of the NVISION Torrance staff helped me feel relaxed, comfortable, and excited for the results. I had worried over nothing for all that time! All pre-op and post-op procedures were laid out to me in a clear and concise manner, so I knew what was happening and when. When I arrived on the day of the surgery, they showed me a video to walk me through the procedure, provided me with a Xanax to help me relax, then put two kinds of drops in my eyes. The only time I was truly nervous was being called into the operating room, since I thought they would be putting numbing eye drops in prior - but not to worry, that was the first thing they addressed as soon as I laid back on the table. The procedure itself was fast and completely painless. Dr. Lusby talked through every step and let me know where to look and what I would be seeing at any given moment. It helped to have beeping in the background to focus on counting beeps instead of worrying about what was happening or thinking too hard about it. After my procedure, they gave me a second Xanax and sent me home (with my driver) with two sleeping pills. I slept for six hours, woke up to eat, and then fell back asleep with the help of the second pill. In the morning, I woke up with clear vision for the first time in 19 years! I found them to be super professional and skillful the entire time, while also having exceptional customer service and bedside manner. Every staff member and doctor I talked with was so nice and so willing to tell me about their own experiences with the procedure and about everything to be expected along the way. They even have a financing option that a staff member was able to answer all my questions on as well. I've felt super comfortable with my results as the procedure includes a number of follow up visits to check my healing and the results have been perfect--no astigmatism at all and better than 20/20 vision in both eyes! Settled on this office to follow the ophthalmologist who did my cataract surgery. This as the first experience for regular yearly eye exam and glasses. This office has the feel of a factory. They lacked on personalized service and fell flat on information when an eyeglass order arrived damaged and were sent back to be redone. When we called to find out if the glasses had come in only then did we learn that that had gone back to the lab to be done again. They also failed to follow through on providing paperwork for DMV when they said they'd have the papers done. No excuses just that the paperwork wasn't ready and they weren't sure when they'd have it completed. If you have nothing better to do with your time this might be the place for you. We will be looking for a different office for next year. Disappointing!!! read more

Hello world, I can see! For my 600th review, I really wanted to write about something really special. Getting LASIK surgery at Nvision was one of the best decisions I've ever made and was truly a life changing experience. The decision to get LASIK was a long, careful and well thought of one for me. After doing research, talking to coworkers and friends and reading numerous reviews, I has no doubt in my mine that I wanted to get it at Nvision. I wanted only the best (after all we are talking about eyesight here!) Nvision sounded like a great place with great personnel and I soon found out for myself that this was indeed true. I came in first for my free consultation and was well taken care of right from the start. Carole was the patient consultant who took care of me and she gave me a tour of the facilities and explained to me the whole process. At the same consultation, I met Dr. Shin and Dr. Lusby, who were both very kind in answering any questions that I had. It was at this consultation that I got checked to see if I was a good candidate and indeed I was. I set up my appointment the same day. The day of the surgery, was a calm and exciting one for me. I was calm because I knew I was in good hands. Exciting because I knew this would be life changing. Once again, all the Nvision staff was helpful, kind and patient with answering any questions I had. There was a video that I got to watch where Dr. Lusby goes over the whole procedure. After the video Dr. Lusby comes out to personally talk to you if you have any questions or concerns. The actual procedure itself was quick and painless. I think one of the things I was most impressed with was how Dr. Lusby walks you through the whole procedure. For example, he would say "in your right eye right now you will see a green light," or "right eye is almost complete, a couple more seconds." It was amazing how quick it was. The whole surgery was 10-15 minutes. Right after the surgery, I was given shields to wear. I think the hardest part was the light sensitivity I got when I stepped out of the facility and like they will tell you, eyes shut right after the surgery is the best. I went home immediately and slept for a couple hours as recommended. The next day I came in for for the one day post op checkup and I was already seeing 20/20! Today I came back for my one month and now I am seeing 20/15, better than 20/20. I see Dr. Shin for my post ops and like Dr. Lusby, she is wonderful. She answers all my questions and is very nice and knowledgable. Honestly, it's the whole staff at Nvision Torrance that is wonderful. Even a month later after my surgery, I am greeted by name by the receptionist Lorena. Out of all their patients, I thought it was nice that she knew my name and would say hello even before I check in or wrote down that I was there. At Nvision, the staff is friendly and you can tell they care. Sometimes I call if I have concerns and the staff is always great with answering my questions. Coming here for LASIK was truly a wonderful experience. Everyday I am still amazed. There are times when I wake up reaching out for my glasses and then I pleasantly remember I don't need them. As far as side effects, I do have some dry eyes but it is very minor and I barely notice. Fish oil and eye drops are very helpful. As for halos, I don't notice any and driving at night is actually better than ever. Thank you to Nvision for the gift of clear eyesight! My old optometrist was in West Hollywood and unfortunately my awesome doctor who I had been seeing for the last 5 years moved to the OC. I live in the South Bay so there was no longer an incentive for me to drive all the way over there so I found this place! They had glowing reviews so I decided to give it a try. My appointment was 10am and it was super smooth. Reception team was great. Dr. Au was very kind and friendly. Because I hadn't used my contacts in a while, he suggested that I could postpone my examination since my eyes were still the same as last year.
