I have nothing good to say about this automotive repair shop. I drove to it, Friday afternoon, a week ago, to inquire about doing a 100,000 mile maintenance on my GMC 2016 pick up--showing Joe a list with items recommended. Joe, the owner, told me that they could, but if I could call on Monday morning to make an apt, which I did. We agreed on Thursday as the day to work on it. I took it over at 6:45 am and left him the keys. At 4:15 pm, I called to see what time I should pick it up. Joe had already left. The man I was speaking too did not initially know what I was talking about and then told me that no one had worked on my pickup. I called at 6:15 am the next morning, last Friday to request to get my keys as I already had plans to go out of town. Picking up the keys, Joe then told me that they did not do the type of maintenance listed on the sheet. What poor customer service. read more

I was a mechanic for many years when I was younger, although now that I'm in my Medicare years, I don't do much wrenching, so I know a thing or two about it, and I know when a shop is "blowing smoke." Joe the owner is as honest as the day is long, I have complete trust in him. He has always done right by me. read more

My car broke down in SLO while I was on vacation. My family is in Bakersfield and told me to have it towed there to Chuck's Automotive. Joe the mechanic was amazing. He checked out my car and once he discovered it was the transmission sent me to AAMCO on White Lane (AAMCO did an amazing job by the way). Joe went above and beyond just checking out my car. He let me leave it on his lot after Triple AAA stood me up on a tow to AAMCO. He didn't charge me for looking at my car once he realized that I needed a transmission specialist. If anything else goes wrong with my car I am definitely bringing it to Joe. His wife is also very lovely and helpful. Thank you to Joe and his lovely wife. read more

Almost 20 years i have been going to this shop. Joe is one of the best mechanics in town. He is definitely on the top of the list for honesty. I have never had a bad experience at this shop. Often i am surprised at how fast and affordable the work is here. I called on Tuesday and was told to drop the car frist rhing in Thursday. So today i took my sons car in to the shop. Joe was there snd friendly as always. Told me he would check out the car and let me know what was going on. A couple hours later i get a call and everything is good to go. I introduced my son to Joe and now he will be a ling time customer. Its incredible what a little customer service and a good attitude can do for you. I have taken my GMC PU to Chuck's two times now and the replacement parts he uses are junk. The prices charged are for quality parts that you don't get. I was later referred to Sam Moore's Automotive and this place has been excellent!!! read more

My truck stopped running on a Saturday in Bakersfield while I was heading to the racetrack. I got ride to track and my friends introduced me to Joe owner of Chucks Automotive. He sad have it towed to his shop on Monday. So Monday truck showed up, I couldn't stay all day so went home to San Pedro, I wouldn't be able to pick truck up till Friday joe said no problem. Friday I showed up truck was finished, at a more than fair price, mechanics were very knowledgeable and friendly,I would recommend his shop to anyone in the Bakersfield area. read more

My power steering belt snapped on Wednesday which also was discovered to have affected my alternator and tensioner. I was expecting to not have a car for the rest of the week, but I was completely wrong! I was able to pay (and for a great price too) and drive my car the very next day. Extremely impressed with Joe and Chuck's automotive. I had an issue with my vehicle. I was recommended to Chuck's. I called and he asked that I bring my car in the next morning so he could take a look. He was up front about what he thought was wrong and the possibilities of cost. I left my vehicle he called within an hour to tell me the diagnosis and cost. I agreed to service. He called again shortly after and my vehicle was finished. Originally I was told it may not be until the next day before closing that I would have my vehicle back. Which I understood, being last minute and a Holiday week. I was shocked at how quickly it was finished. Price wasn't astronomical and service was super! Highly recommend! read more

Best mechanic in town! Honest and professional! I have always been treated well here and would recommend to anyone.

Consider another shop for your repairs. Does not use new parts but charges the price for them using rebuilt parts. Does not give any receipts for his work or a final print out with work done, charges and warranty information. Feel like the owner picks prices off the top of his head and says things are wrong instead, when really something different is wrong. Very dishonest in my book and breaks things you have to fix afterwards. read more

Suckered me 3 times with the same issue. A very VERY expensive lesson learned. Took advantage of my mom and trashed her car. Went in to check possible issues came out with the car vibrating, grinding and making loud terrible sounds read more

If you notice, any negative reviews were a few years ago. We have taken our vehicles to Joe for the last year and the service has been great and very efficient. Definitely recommend them. read more

My truck broke down in Bakersfield and I was repairing it myself but needed a hand separating the water pump from the fan clutch. I walked in and the guys listened to my story and did what I'm needed. Joe the owner said free of charge. I highly recommend them for your automotive needs. read more

Joe and Danny are awesome! My daughter is going to school in Bakersfield 1000 miles away from me and her car had the power steering pump go out and a unfixable radiator leak at the same time. They replaced both and kept me in the loop during the process. A couple months later the new power steering pump was acting up so they replaced it on warranty and got her back on the road the same afternoon she stopped at the shop.
