I then began calling other various contractors for this repair and was told all kinds of BS, from having to rebuild the chimney chase, having to wait as they were too busy, too cold (it was December) and told to wait until spring, etc. It was a bad leak and causing damage to my home not to mention the stress caused on me being at the mercy of contractors. I spent time with the owner and we agreed I would follow up via phone or email with the base and accessories I wanted. Unfortunately, after calling three times (each time he was unavailable) and emailing with no response, I decided to return in person the following week. The owner wasn't there, and the employee present seemed more interested in closing up for the day than helping me complete the order. He gave multiple excuses for why he couldn't help.
