Overall, a fun stop. The cherries and nuts are great. My only complaint is that they were running a special where if you bought $100 you got a free product. I was at $91 and the cashier alerted me to the special so I bought more to get the special. I drove the 50 mins back to Yakima only to find that the special product was not put in the bag. Who doesn't love Chukar Cherries? I've been a fan of Chukar Cherries after trying them for the first time at Pike Place Market, so it was pretty cool to learn that their headquarters is in Prosser, just down the street from where we were staying for a night. We had to check it out before heading west/home. We visited Chukar Cherries on a Monday late morning and since this is where the products are made, the place is massive. However, the store is not too big, but offers a lot of different products to shop for. The employee who was working the day we visited was super helpful. Since we had our dog with us, we sat outside where there were tables and chairs and she put in small containers different cherries for us to try even though we were outside, which was very thoughtful. We had about eight different cherries to try and learn about, which was great especially since Pike Place Market gets so busy that the staff there doesn't really have as much time to tell you about the products. But the employee here learned that we're dark chocolate fans, so only gave us a tasting of dark chocolate products and told us of the different varieties. Of the bunch, I liked the dark chocolate rainier and cabernet cherries. But we also went home with a bag of the dusted chocolate honey pecans and bing cherries. Chukar Cherries never uses preservatives and doesn't add any extra sugar. It's quality products, using local cherries that are beloved in eastern Washington and beyond. Went to chakar cherries in prosser April 11. My son was SO excited to go as this would be our first time going as we are not from prosser. Was greeted by a very nice lady atbthe front desk that was helping us. Experience was good... until this lady came out from the back wearing a headset and a high ponytail. She immediately started harping on the front lady about stalking supplies. Saying she left these out for a reason. The lady at the front desk said she didn't know. I told the nasty lady that she was busy helping us. The nasty lady said we'll this was before! I straight up told her she should probably rethink being nasty towards her coworkers in front of customers. Even while the nasty lady was being mean to the kind lady at the front, the kind lady kept a smile on her face. I would have left without buying anything because of how that nasty lady was acting, but my son wanted yo go there really bad. Shame on that nasty lady for how she was acting, especially in front of customers. That speaks volumes on how she is. They have a tasting room that is open daily with multiple different varieties of cherries and chocolate dipped combinations that you can try. I could've spent an hour there eating just the samples and trying out the different flavors. I ended up going with a melody of four different Chocolate dipped cherries. They have two different kinds of cherries with four different types of chocolate coating. The show room and shop is a small little area, but it is in front of the location where they actually have the warehouse that are dipping the cherries. The cherry orchard is local to the area so they do not travel very far before getting their sweet coating of chocolate. You can also order these online and have them shipped anywhere in the world. Dad jokes aside, I enjoy coming here on a quarterly basis to get some of the finest chocolate covered cherries to gift and ship to friends and family. The staff are very friendly and will be inquisitive to your tastes and needs to help you make an informed purchase. The cherry blossoms are my favorite, but they have a wide variety of chocolates, wine, nuts, and jams. Their pricing structure is set where if you buy more you'll save a bit more or get a free item. If you want the most bang for your buck you can get their cheap mixed bag which houses a lot of different flavors but didn't pass the visual "quality check." I will never forget my first package that I purchased when on a camping trip in Mt Rainer National park. I have been hooked and have visited every location so far. We stopped in to Chukkar Cherries Friday 10/22/21 and they are allowing tasting now. The specialties include chocolate and strawberry coated cherries and nuts in various varieties. Once you sample them you will immediately want to take some home. My favorite was the milk chocolate honey pecans which are honey roasted pralines dipped in chocolate and coated in powder sugar. Unbelievably tasty, but so is everything else. The only downside to all this is the price. A 6.75 oz. bag of chocolates is about $13.50. The packaging is very attractive though and these are perfect gifts that as pointed out by the server can be ordered online and sent anywhere. These folks sent me a catalog a month or two ago. I'm not sure how they got my name and address, but I love dark chocolate and cherries separately, so the combination sounded perfect for me. After a few weeks contemplation I ordered a jar of dark chocolate covered cherries and a tin of mixed dried cherries and nuts. Because I ordered a certain amount they gave me a small package of what they call cherry blossoms, probably milk chocolate mixed w/ cherries. I'm not sure. The package arrived today. I just tried a couple of the cherry blossoms, which were OK. I tried one of the dark chocolate cherries, which I liked better. I opened the nuts and cherries later. What passed for candy in my family when I was a child was a mixture of walnuts and raisins. This felt comfortable and familiar, though the basic ingredients were slightly different. Sadly, I looked at their paper catalogue and really wanted to buy some of these. Their photographs looked so tasty! We've had many of their cherry based goodies over the years, but they were always purchased by our elderly relative who had them shipped here. She passed away last spring, so we thought we'd order these ourselves. What a surprise I found that their paper catalogue doesn't even list their website nor an online order page. (Who's in charge of their marketing?) I was able to search online and found that they do have a website and that they also sell through Amazon. Hooray! I have Amazon Prime and expected the free shipping. What a downer! Chukar doesn't offer with Prime! I'm expected to pay $12.95 for shipping on a measly $29.95 jar of popcorn? No way! So, I checked their online site to see if the shipping was any less. Guess what? No! Chukar will also charge the $12.95 for shipping. You'd think they could charge less fot small shipments. The result is that we will forgo bothering to order from Chukar and will buy our Christmas snacks elsewhere. I'd heard of chukar cherries and seen them in the airport, but never actually had any until last weekend when I went home to visit. Thought they would be a nice little gift to bring back to CA and give my neighbors who are checking my mail and the friends who are dog-sitting for us. [Products] The store is full of different types of Cherry products, from chocolate to jams/preserves, and even now, trail mix packages. Their most popular are the 6.75 oz. bags of cherries. Currently ranging from $13.50 to 14.50 per bag, with a buy 4, save $5.00. This isn't a bad deal given that these are great evening snacks (with wine pairing), or as gifts. They also have smaller size cherry packets in box size ($10.00/ea), and if you are considering a nice present, larger pre-set gift box ranging around $50 and $90. During the holidays, they have also arranged a pre-packed gift set in a basket for you and if you like what you see, these are the better valued versus buying individual pieces. I recommend Cabernet, Blossom, Raspberry, Truffles, Rainier, Hazelnut and Cocoa Pecan ones. If you're still confused, you can't go wrong w/ the Orchard Medley. If you like a spread, check out the Jubilee or Preserve, both are sweet but not to overpowering. [Parking/Location] Ample parking spots in the front with a large store emblem on the wall letting you know you made it. The Prosser location is more relaxed with all the products available. The Seattle/PikePlace location is a bit smaller (booth) and a lot more crowded as there's more foot traffic going through the Pike Marketplace. I consider these Chukar Cherries somewhat one of Washington's best kept secrets. Before moving here, I found them in the airport on one of my visits and fell in love. They are just a high quality, fabulous tasting, chocolate covered cherry; and it takes off from there. I was finally able to walk into the store in Prosser, and I about passed out from the euphoria of being surrounded by an entire line of tasty products such as nuts, pie filling, marinade, jams, and all different flavors of chocolate covered cherries. Chukkar Cherries, yes please! Whenever I'm driving through Eastern Washington I always make a stop at their store. I've never been able to pass this place up. They have other locations like the one in Pike, but this is the factory. This is where the magic begins. It's not necessarily an outlet though I'm managed to pick up some killer deals on bags of random and seconds. The selection of foods is giant. All the walls are packed with goods. So many chocolates and so many different types of cherry products. I don't think you can leave without finding something you'll like. They have a great mix of everything. Chocolates, jams, and even merch (I may or may not have bought a t-shirt to wear around town.) For some reason I keep buying their cherry decorated ceramic bowls to give as gifts... It's a good place to stop if you need to pick up a gift or ten. They have samples for you to try so don't pass up on that offer. The employees are the nicest people. There are lots of samples, so come after you eat, or gorge on sweet samples, as you wish. We stocked up on gift items, and a few things for us, like the granola! A short trip down the road past Starbucks on exit 80, and the airport. It is easy to find on the right. Staff was very helpful and friendly, just what you want. If your idea of a chocolate indulgence is a $10 jar of M+M's from Costco, you might not fully appreciate the role of Chukar Cherries in the food world. They are serious chocolatiers and sell only fresh, batch made snacks and candies produced from high quality ingredients. I attempt to limit the discretionary calories I consume and am willing to spend more for premium hand made products. I first sampled their chocolate-covered treats at Pike Place Market, and when I saw that my roadtrip route would take me through Yakima Valley, I knew I had to stop in Prosser. The store is small but spacious - it's got a basic square layout with shelves upon shelves of Chukar cherries (of course), nuts, chocolates, and a little shelf dedicated to other goods from local artisans (pasta, salsa, jams, etc.). Feeling indecisive about whether to get the cabernet cherries, truffle cherries, or chocolate-covered pecans? Chukar gives free samples! One of their staff walks around every 5 minutes with a new sample. If there's something that's caught your eye but you haven't sampled, they'll pop a piece right into your hand. Their generosity pays off - there wasn't one thing I tried that I didn't want to get, and I ended up walking out with 6 bags of goodies. The icing on the cake (or, the chocolate covering on the cherry ;)) - Chukar provides ice packs free of charge. The products are nice for gifts. It's a welcome change to Christmas cake for relatives. I do wish gift bags/cards would be made available in the gift shop for customers. I think most buy these very expensive cherries for gifts, so why not make gift bags/mini-cards available to purchase...would be especially handy for people picking up a hostess gift on the way to a party, for example. I know this place will send purchased items to addresses provided, but there is no gift wrap option for those items being sent. Why not offer occasion gift wrap?
