Jason was offered two opportunities to inspect the attic prior to doing the job, which he refused. A roof nail was driven through a water pipe, which ended up flooding our bathroom, which we are still in the process of repairing. Jason and his office manager have not replied to numerous phone calls, emails, and text messages to pay for the full extent of the damages. We recently brought out another roofer for an inspection, and were alarmed to discover the following defects with his new roof install: 1) Felt paper was bunched up around a couple of the exhaust vents and not sealed properly with daylight showing through; 2) Old shingles, some cracked, in the front of the house were never replaced and were instead spraypainted over; 3) Several instances of old flashing were not replaced, which is apparent because some are rusted; 4) Flashing, counterflashing, and step flashing not installed in several places as needed; 5) Flashing which was installed was not sealed; 6) Debris from the work which fell through the roof and ended up in our attic was not cleaned up This list is not exhaustive and there are even more issues. For anyone considering a new roof, I would very carefully vet any contractor you hire.

I've experienced pretty much all of the scenarios we hear in the all-too-common scare stories: contractors who disappeared in the middle of a job, never to be heard from again. Guys who muck it up or failed to follow specification(s). Guys who underbid & then ask for more money before completion. Guys who flat-out never show up, then call the following week to see if I still want the work done... I could go on, but, you get the idea. This is why I'm still pinching myself for having found a unicorn in the handyman world. Helpful Home Maintenance (HHM) meets or exceeds all the benchmarks of what one wants in a good handyman: - Responds quickly to inquiries (phone call, email, text). - Shows up at the agreed-upon time. - Bids the project accurately & quickly. - (Very) reasonably priced. - Quality work. - Attention to detail. - Does what they say they're going to do. - The guy that starts the job is the one who finishes it. I've employed HHM twice now, & have been delighted by the work they've done. In both instances, the results of the work have turned out even better than what I'd imagined. I don't know what to make of it. The above-mentioned benchmarks seem reasonable (they're the minimum expectation in every other trade), and yet, I've found only one company that hits the bullseye. I would unhesitatingly recommend HHM for any of your home maintenance / handyman needs. They have my highest recommendation.
