I hate that I have to spend extra time to write a review on my experience, but evidently the office staff did not think it was important enough to try and help the experience. Our family has been going to this location for many years and we had insurance to cover our treatment without any out of pocket, but things happen and our current insurance was no longer on their preferred network. So with this unknown status my son goes to his annual cleaning and then told his insurance may not cover all the cost and that he would have to pay out of pocket for his services. We live over 1 hour away in Willits, CA and he did not know he would have to pay out of pocket until that day. I always try to guide my kids to call me directly if they feel like they don't know how to make a good decisions without my presence, but he thought he would be taken care of as he has with every visit. Then the office asked if he wanted fluoride treatment and X-rays and most people without insurance would most likely opt out of this unless it's free or minimal cost so he did it with good faith that it would be covered by insurance for some of it. In the end he had to pay out of pocket over $234 for everything and for a young college student working part-time that is sad to have been taken advantage of like that. I then called and spoke with Noelle the office Manager who claims she had something come up and that was the reason she did not return my calls as requested last week. Claims that she spoke with the dentist and just danced around my request for some type of credit back for the misfortune with my son's experience. So now I have to write this bad experience review and it all could have been resolved if they just treated my family like a valued customer, but instead I have to chase them for a call back and turn to Yelp to share our experience. I am reconsidering moving to another dentist due to insurance. i Neglected my teeth when I was youngerng, sought out western dental who wanted to pull 3 teeth, it was a Saturday. I left and said no thank you. It was random how I found Chun family dentistry, I literally. looked up dentist in Windsor. I Did NOT need several teeth pulled, only a root canal and 2 crowns. That was 20 years ago, his whole team maintains his skill and standards. It is a craft. A gift. i still have those same crowns, his work have never had go be redone. Why do things twice? all dentist can do work, but not all actually perform to the level of his perfection. read more

I hate the fact that I have to write this. I have been a patient for serval years now. Up until 2 years ago the everything was fine. The first issue was they asked me about what filling I wanted porcelain or gold and I said whichever one is better covered by my insurance, the dentist said we will use gold, well it turns out gold is NOT covered...strike one....second issue, they had me come in November for a teeth cleaning, no issues until I got the bill and nothing was covered, I asked and they said I used up all my insurance, I said I could have waited for January for my insurance to restart, but I guess they don't tell patients when there insurance runs out, I will take partial blame for that one...Last issue was twofold I was told the end of last year that I may need a crown on a tooth, but then he said he thinks we can fill it instead. This appointment is the Wednesday Jan 15th. I called last week to see how much I would have to sped out-of-pocket. She said she would call my insurance and get back to me that day or at the latest the next day, I waited 3 days and I called back, she said she was having issues still getting a hold of my insurance...they called back finally today (over a week later) and gave me a break down of my insurance...no big surprises there, but she also went over the work and for reason I now need 1 crown and 2 fillings and that was all news to me! Not only that but the tooth that has been giving me the most troubles was NOT one of the 3 teeth they were going to work on....The girl who was giving me this info was getting a little pissy once I started questioning why we are working on teeth I had no clue were in bad shape. Obviously, I cancelled the appointment and found a new dentist, I am going to have them do an assessment and go from there. The reason this I hate that I have to write this is the dentist there was always very nice to me and I had no issues up until 2 years ago.....frustrating.... read more

My husband and I both are patients of Dr. Tedmund Chun. My husband raved about the care he received and the expertise of Dr. Chun. On his recommendation I decided to call and schedule an appointment. I am so happy that I did. Dr. Chun did an exam and explained his recommendation for a treatment plan. He asked questions and listened to what I wanted as well. We agreed on a plan. Not happy about my first appointment there. I sent my xrays over from another dentist. Theu continued to try to do another set of xrays even after i said no. The Dr briefly looked at my teeth then said to come back for xrays and a consult. I feel like my time was wasted. Im hoping my next visit is better. Dr Chun is a top-notch dentist and professional with a gentle chair-side manner. His work is as good as it gets and I have never had a problem with dental work failing, breaking or getting infected. He is pricey though, and I cannot afford to get done all of the work I need. So I do what is most urgent. His front desk staff can be a little discombobulated so it's up to the patient to communicate clearly and sometimes repeatedly what you need. Also, due to staffing shortages that have lingered at this office for over a year, appts are typically months out. read more

Big Concerns..... We all need crowns?.... This is an update after nearly 1 year of service from Dr. Bryce Chun I am sad to report that I am withdrawing my five star reviews to only a two star. Why not a 1 star? Because the dental Hygienist that did my teeth cleaning twice over the past year was actually excellent. Problem. On my initial visit with Dr. Bryce Chun I was surprisingly told I would need crown work? This struck me as very odd but I decided he knew better then I and I was leaving for an extensive trip and didn't want problems later. I had the procedure. During my follow up visits / cleanings etc. I complained that the area was still sensitive to chewing. I was told to work with it and I would adjust. During other visits "2nd cleaning" I complained again and was told the same. Mind you one year later and its still a problem, a big problem. Weirdness.... When I first discovered Dr. Chun I was pleased in what I found. A new clinic, modern and clean. Everyone seemed professional and organized etc. I referred several friends / employees. Two scheduled appointments and afterwards they came to see me. They said that Dr. Chun said they each needed "multiple" crowns? But they were not buying into it. I wasn't sure what to say and did find it strange that all of us were told we needed crown work? They both made appointments with two different Dentists. They were both independently told they did NOT need multiple crowns. One of them only needed fillings and the other did in fact need only a single crown but the rest of his teeth either needed no work or basic fillings. A far stretch from multiple teeth needing crowns. If I did not know these people personally I am not sure if I would have believed it. Understandably a doctor may have a different opinion then their peers and in these cases maybe that's just it, a difference of opinion. What is concerning and honestly a nagging feeling in my gut I have had for awhile is that Dr. Bryce is a new dentist... building his client list.... he is also part of a family dentistry in a new building etc...... I cannot say if he is an owner but I assume likely he is a partner with his brother and father both dentist and work there with him, I also assume but cant say for sure that they are paying off there expenses. I will leave the rest to your imagination. I am saddened because I was so hopeful that this was ultimately the best dentist for me, even writing an initial, insanely over the top 5 star review. This is why I am changing my review now based on what I have said here. Today I contacted a new dentist, fingers crossed, lol They needed to contact Dr. Bryce staff and ask for my previous x-ray records and full dental scan etc. They were told all they had was a "paper copy" of my x-rays from my previous dentist in Oregon!!! WTF!!!!? Now that's really messed up because I sure do remember an awful lot of uncomfortable wing X-ray bite pieces! So I am calling that a definite flat out lie... And I will have my bookkeeper pull up my expenses if I need to validate that statement / records. I had personally go over there and demand they send all of my x-rays that I knew as a fact they had taken all while I pointed at the X ray room which I intimately knew... To say that all they had was a piece of paper copy from my old dentist was ridiculous!!! I demanded the return of my property of which I purchased... I signed what needed to be signed and I think they will oblige now? If Dr. Bryce or staff feels I am misleading or do not have the facts straight and would like to dispute this, they know how to reach me. I believe in documentation and facts. There is nothing I hate more then baseless slamming of a business owner they have families to feed also. I also write a number of reviews on yelp. I feel that my personal, honest experiences are my reputation in the yelp community. P.S I have never met either Dr. Chun senior or Bryce's brother. I noticed that some yelp reviews simply refer to Dr. Chun and I think it's somewhat confusing. It's important to distinguish them by their full names to prevent confusion, as they may be exceptional dentist with excellent service. P.S.S Am I the only one that has experienced this? read more

My sister highly recommended Dr. Chun's office because of the excellent service she has received. My first experience with their office was scheduling a new patient cleaning and exam over the phone and it was smooth, informative and very friendly. They sent me an email with all the needed pre-service information and it was detailed and clear. The office uses a professional appointment reminder service that communicated with me so I would not miss the appointment. The day of my appointment I called in from my car and they met me in the lobby, took my temp and asked me the covid questions. The office is very clean and professional. There is plenty of parking and the office is easy to find and nicely located. Jessica cleaned my teeth and she was thorough, gentle, and explained everything very clearly. The Dentist used a camera to review my teeth so he could see them on a big screen and compare them to my X-rays. I was completely satisfied with my new Dentist and will be returning every 6 months. Best dental office ever! We had a friend recommend Chun Family Dentistry 8 years ago and have used them as our family dentist since. They do excellent work and even make time available in emergencies. I'm normally not great at the dentist. I've had some dentists discount my fear and act like I'm a wimp. I thought my situation would seem novel to them. Cosmetic help, cavities, or injuries--if anything is possible in the Russian River area, they have experience seeing almost every possible situation from workers and families bring. They know what are the limitations of dental products and services. I would recommend calling them as soon as possible to give them the maximum lead time in saving your tooth. If it really is an emergency, waiting till morning will not make it better, if it really is an emergency and I was only allowed one phone call for dental help, calling this number would maximize the likelihood of success. Very few dental situations are going to improve on their own. Most of their business appears to be from referrals and repeat business. The office staff seem very understanding of just about any emergency or oops you can imagine. If you are not the world's best brusher, flosser or tongue cleaner, you will like how understanding they are that anything could happen in life because they have seen it all. Every time I got a filling done by the Chuns, it hurt for months afterward, they said that was normal...It is not, i never have any pain at my new dentist. 3 years or so after filling in a few cavities i had, the Chuns told me they all had to be redone...i went straight to another dentist for a second opinion, and was told that there was nothing wrong with the fillings I had, nor did I have any cavities to fill...simply put I would not reccommend them as they are not trustworthy and don't do a good job whatsoever. read more

I took my Mom who is 86 years old who was in a bit of an emergency situation. She had already been to see a local dentist who was no help at all to her situation. We walked into Dr. Chun's office even without an appointment, and they courteously and professionally took care of all of her needs. She gave him a hug and started crying because she was so happy that he helped her!
