Dr Wheeler confirmed that the office is going through some changes and that she merged with a larger company. I guess patients have noticed a change. Tais the hygienist is great. But the important concern is the billing that makes me skeptical about this place. It's been months after my appointment, called three times, spoke to three different people, and each time getting no help. Be cautious about their cost and how they bill your insurance. This place is a joke--clean, but still a joke. We were charged at the end of our appointments, but when our insurance sent us the breakdown of what was covered and what we actually owed, the numbers didn't match what Summit charged us. Then, we received yet another bill. When my husband asked for clarification, they said they would send an itemized receipt--but we never received it. I'm pretty disappointed with my experience with this dental practice. Which honestly surprised me because of how many amazing reviews this place has. To me as a new potential patient calling in for the first time for a new patient exam everything was okay on the first call. I scheduled my appointment for an exam & a cleaning WEEKS in advance. I had asked them to get my X-rays from my previous dentist. I received multiple calls in those weeks leading up to my appointment. Each phone call I checked to see if they had my X-rays. Each person I spoke with sounded like they had no idea those had been requested yet nor did they know I wanted to use my X-rays from a few months ago from my prior dentist. Today I get a call asking if I wanted to schedule my appointments back to back instead of having to come back. (There was never a point I was told prior that I had split appointment times) by now I just feel like these ladies in this office have NO CLUE what is going on. I was already concerned about coming here when I had 3 phone calls come to my phone from them and each time they dropped the ball with getting what they needed to prepare for my appointment. Honestly how many times do you need to call a patient before your very first visit? But to be not knowing when I'm scheduled is crazy to me. She just made a mistake and didn't read the schedule right to see I was already booked back to back. Your office is supposed to be professional and on top of everything. I can't babysit my dentist office and have to give repeated reminders about my X-rays or remind you when my appointments are. Any sliver of confidence I had in this place just went out the window after today. Please do better and get it together. read more

My husband, Son and I have been going to Summit dental for about 4 years. We have always been happy with our service and everyone that works there. I called today because they billed us $300 for missing our appointment, which I called the day before because we were sick to tell them we couldn't make it. I was told it was their policy if you don't call 48 hours in advance. I told the woman, I guess we should have come anyways and got them sick. She reiterated that is their policy and there is nothing that could be done. And I responded with that's fine. You just lost three patients. I got a new night guard and found it difficult to sleep b/c I couldn't close my mouth anymore, and kept waking up thru the night with dry mouth, having to take sips of water. I called Summit Dental and got in quickly. Lisette shaved the night guard down so that I can now close my mouth, which makes for a much more restful night!!! Good job! read more

I have been here several times now for a number of procedures. I am an old man and I've been to lots of dentists but I have never been to a better one. I have been consistently impressed by the professionalism and skill of Dr. Wheeler and her entire staff as well as the array of technology used. Sitting in the dentist chair as I'm typing this review. The hygienist was extremely gentle and patient with my super sensitive teeth!! The genuine care they offer is all around from the front to the back office. Having moved here from Orange County, I had high expectations as my previous dentist was absolutely wonderful. The bar was set really high. I'm confident I've found my new local office here with Summit Dental. Although Dr. Wheeler has always been a very good dentist and very fair. We have previously never had a problem with her staff. I cannot go to a place where my husband was treated so poorly, by office manager Melinda or Belinda. He called about an issue that showed our adult children on our account. When numerous times they have been told to have just my husband and myself on our account, and the adult child should be separated. She cut him off every time he tried to say anything, refused to let him have any word in ( I heard all of this as he was on speaker phone). He asked to speak to the Dr. and she said that could not happen. So he goes down to the office to speak with Dr. Wheeler, Belinda refused to get the doctor. She told him she would call the police and he told her to go ahead. Dr. Wheeler did come out to tell the police this was not a problem, but even at that point, Melinda/Belinda refused to listen to her own boss continuing to try to escalate the issue. This woman should not be dealing with the public in any office. I canceled my upcoming appointment at the end of this month. And as long as Belinda is in that office, I don't see myself going back. Sorry, Dr Wheeler, but when your office staff (Melinda/Belinda) was not only is rude, condescending and refuses to let my husband see you and then calls the police on him when she was the one who assaulted him in your office. She should have been walked out of your office that day,and if that was done, I would be happy to make my appointment for the near future. She is just lucky my husband did not press charges. Again, this complaint is about just one person, Belinda, not you or your other office staff. You are innocent victims in this. Like I said, if she were gone I would come back and be happy to remove this review. read more

Easily 5 stars. Wonderful care. Dr Wheeler's knowledge covers so many more than the usual dental issues and extends, just for example, to sleep issues and jaw pain. So why have I only given three stars? Because Dr Wheeler's office does not accept both types of insurance available to me. Although they could sign up to accept my secondary insurance, they told me they choose not to do so. This forces me to go to a different dentist, to get the work done that my primary insurance doesn't cover, once it maxed out, and rather than pay $$$$$ out of pocket, I'll have to shop for a new dentist. This was Summit's choice, not considering their patient's insurance needs, so for that I have to take off two stars. read more

I sent a request for an emergency appointment through the website. Got a call at 7:30AM. They offered me an appointment at 9:40AM. I believed I was possibly needing a root canal. They took a 3D image of my jaw and sinuses and a few normal X-rays and determined I need a deep scaling and a few old fillings replaced. The specialist in deep scaling works on Mondays only. So my luck held and she was able to do 2 quadrants on the side with the pain. I have scheduled the other side and the filling replacements after the holidays. The amount of knowledge shared was above any dental office I have ever been to previously and I have had a mouth full of work in my many years. The hygienist did not scold me, but talked about the areas I need to improve and how to go about it. And complimented the good work I have done for my health. Oh ya. I'm a client now! read more

Continued care with Dr. Wheeler has literally changed my life from almost unbearable to a million trillion times better. I have a compressed jaw joint that is causing all kinds of symptoms from hay fever, vertigo, foggy brain, headaches, jaw pain, acid reflux, neck pain, vision loss, muscle aches, spine problems including sciatica pain , anxiety and MORE. I couldn't work with all this going on. And I did not know what was causing it until Dr. Wheeler did a CT scan during a follow up visit. The body is always changing and she found my jaw joint on one side improved, while the other side did not. She saw this right away and knew what to do. She gave my TMJ enough space for the artery and nerve to heal and before I even got out of the dentist chair I felt such relief. Next step is a permanent solution, which is braces. I resisted at first, but I trust her and I am convinced she has the skills to get me through it. read more

Dr. Wheeler did my Invisalign and retainers a few years ago. She was very nice, but had absolutely no idea what she was doing. She had to do several molds for my Invisalign that were almost never exact and had to keep remaking them. Eventually, she just put in regular braces for a month because she couldn't get them right. All throughout this process, she continuously shaved my teeth down saying it was necessary because my teeth needed space to move. She shaved off half of one tooth and all my front lower teeth are completely uneven. After my braces were taken out, she incorrectly put in a permanent retainer on my lower teeth. Instead of placing a wire behind my teeth, she just put some cavity filler along the back, causing me to not be able to floss and clean them correctly. After consulting another dentist, I was strongly encouraged to go back to Dr. Wheeler and get my incorrect permanent retainer redone. When I called, the receptionist was very apologetic about the situation and "promised" to call me back the next day. It has been almost 3 years and I still haven't heard back from them. If you value your teeth, do not trust Dr. Wheeler with yours. Go to someone else who actually knows what they are doing. read more

The billing with the insurance company was transparent and seamless, and the office staff deserve great compliments for that! Dr. Wheeler was recommended to me by a co-worker when I moved to Sonoma County and I have been her patient ever since. From day one, I've only had incredibly welcoming and professional interactions at Summit Dental. Dr. Wheeler and her staff make an effort to get to know you personally (without being overbearing) and will know you by name before you even make a return visit into the office. They take the time to explain things thoroughly, whether it be dental advice or the insurance/billing process. The two most impressive points is that their appointment times are realistic/accurate (I've never had to wait long beyond my appointment start time) and they are really careful/gentle throughout the dental work process. Not sure if the new referral incentive still exists, but I know that I received $50 credit for referring friends (and I don't remember if my friends received $50 credit for being a new patient)... Regardless, I would've been more than happy to refer my friends, but I'm not going to complain about the $50 credit either! read more

I went into Summit Dental for the first time this morning and had the best experience that I've ever had at a dentist! The entire staff was lovely and super welcoming. After filling out my paperwork, they gave me a quick tour of their beautiful facility. I work in the medical field myself, so it was super refreshing to see this awesome patient care. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable and really seemed to enjoy their job. The dentist took her time with me explaining all my options and going into great detail to make sure I understood everything. They rock. I find it very strange that this business has 38 reviews and they are ALL hidden. I can tell you that almost all of them are 4-5 stars. I came to Summit Dental after not going to the dentist for about 7 years. Even though I deserved to be chewed out, they were nice enough not to. I needed a lot of work and Dr. Wheeler made it clear what was going on and why. Unfortunately, I am one of the many people that do not have dental insurance with my work so everything has to be paid out of pocket. As much as I want to stay with Summit Dental, I'm going to have to go to a place that accepts HMO since it is the cheapest one. Overall, I'm very happy with my experience. read more

I am very pleased after my first visit yesterday. From my first phone call to the time I walked out the door, it was a very pleasant experience. Their customer service is definitely one of the best I've received. People who work there are really nice, attentive and patient. I had a check up and cleaning done in one day and it took as long as they told me it would (about 2 hours for my visit). I'm 25 years old and have suffered dental decay for 2 decades. I have been to many dentists and received unpleasant experiences. My teeth are my biggest burden despite dedicating my life to trying to keep them together. A friend recommended me to Dr. Wheeler with really good experiences. You walk in and feel at home. Dr. Wheeler assessed and addressed my teeth, and we started our relationship by removing a bad tooth right then and there, an unknowingly awful infection of a cracked very old repaired root canal. She gently swayed it out in one piece and I had no pain and little swelling the next day. Astonished by her compassionate nature, her honest opinion, and her encouraging support, I trusted her from the start. We bonded over more procedures, like another old cracked root canal extraction, among her openness to fill a really bad cavity that needed root canal therapy that I was unwilling to go through and considered extraction instead. She lasered it while providing treatment to the tooth with success. A creative chance I so greatly appreciate! Summit Dental is a one in a million dental practice. I know how hard it is to find any health care professional that feels like they are there for you, lest the unlucky smile. Give them a chance and enjoy their company, they really aren't that scary. It is also a plus that they accept care credit, because without it, I would not have been able to see a dentist in the first place. They helped walk me through it, which was a breeze. My experiences are not what any young woman or person wants to go through, but their kindness and momentum helped me face reality and feel incredibly safe in their care. This also inspired me to attend CE seminars in dentistry for veterinary technicians and provide better guidance and care for our own patients. This was my first appointment with Dr. Wheeler! I have changed delta dental plans. I had premier and my new ppo plan wasn't going to be fully covered any longer at my former dentist. I read reviews on yelp, called and made an appointment. I needed my annual dentist visit before year end. I was welcomed in, my appointment was short and sweet, I need to have two very old mercury fillings replaced! I'm so glad, they make my teeth look gray.! They have some very fancy new equipment for 3D xrays. Dr Wheeler checked the xrays I had sent from my former dentist, checked my teeth and recommended replacing the two fillings! I asked for an estimate, my deductible has already been met for the year. My appointment is set within a week at my convenience, and the price is very reasonable! I now also have a thank you note from the office! I had a very positive experience, what a cheerful office, right next to Starbucks. read more

She took complete imaging of everything connected to my dental area, and made some "life-changing" suggestions that improved my sleeping greatly. I really love this office. I'm one to avoid the dentist office unless there's pain or discomfort happening. The staff are all so wonderful, nice and sweet. They made me feel comfortable, I was acknowledged right away and taken care of very quickly, I was never left waiting in the dental chair there was always someone there taking care of me. The other thing I really appreciated was that they actually went over my history, they discussed every single little check box I marked and discussed all options with me.
