We had my sister's bridal shower here at The Gathering Hall and it was perfect! We had access to the kitchen, fridge, and there were quite a few plates and drink containers available for us as well as tables, chairs, and linens! It was in August and incredibly hot outside, but it was so nice inside and we had a great view of the farm in the back! Lots of room to fit 35 people comfortably and it would be even more beautiful with more space in cooler weather! Staff was INCREDIBLY sweet, informative, and helpful!! read more

If you're out near Bernie Texas, definitely make time to check out the Cibilo nature center. They have a visitor center that is free and has various trails going along the Greenbelt near Cibilo in Boerne. It's a great place to visit if you're spending the day near Bernie they even have a gift shop but keep in mind that it is only open certain days during the week. read more

Cibolo Nature Center is the brainchild of Carolyn Chipman Evans who in 1988 envisioned a place where people could connect with nature. Over time the center has expanded to include Nest Nature School, Herff Farm with a weekly farmer's market, and miles of water and wildlife conservation. The hiking areas go along the creek and offer really beautiful classic hill country scenery. The area is a popular spot for professional photos with affordable permits from $25-50. For hiking the trails are available 8AM to dusk seven days per week. The center is free for hiking. Parking is a bit limited, arriving early is beneficial. read more

I first stopped at the Visitor Center to get a map and some recommendations. The person at the center was so friendly and nice. Dogs are allowed in the park and there's plenty of doggie bags and trashcans around. The center area has some parking, a pavilion, restrooms and a gift shop. The hiking loop is about 2 miles and can be longer, depending on if you decide to take smaller trails around. However, everything is basically a loop so you won't get lost too easily. You might end up spending a lot of time just enjoying the view and watching the creek! Although I visited during the fall/winter time, there's still much to see. We saw deer drinking from the creek, stumbled on two armadillos and countless wren and birds in the trees. I'm sure the view in the spring and summer is even more gorgeous. Know that there's many areas without shade so it could get very hot. Near the creek has plenty of shade but the trails are more narrow. And, lots of exposed tree roots that may stumble and unwary hiker. read more

Very pretty place to get away from the hustle and bustle of down town. Lots of trails, paved and unpaved. We really enjoyed just walking around and seeing where we end up. I will say though, the trails aren't marked very well. We would assume we were going one direction but we actually weren't. A lot of the trails seemed "sketch" too like it wasn't actually trail but us just trailing through the woods. read more

A nice little area adjacent to the city park. Has some very easy loop trails and some trails that run right along the creek. Dogs are allowed on a leash and the trails are well used and easy for animals. Facilities left a little to be desired but they did have open bathrooms which was nice. Fairly large parking area really close to the trailhead. Also looked like a nice area to take some family pictures or other formal pics. Looked like some engagement photos were being taken when we were out there. read more

Outstanding place just around the corner from the house. If you're looking for a quick hike or just to spend some time outdoors learning about nature then this place is for you. In fact, this place is for everyone! My son and I usually walk from the house and go along the Old Number 9 trail which will leads to the city park. It's a great place! read more

An old art teacher used to make us go here in groups, it's not well kept and the bathrooms are atrocious. Outdated for sure. Probably good for people with dogs, but the water is nasty, not great for artists. read more

I love this place. We chose Boerne for the hiking options. This place did not let us down. My hubby and I hiked for about 4 miles and stopped so many times to ooh and aah over the beautiful Bald Cypress trees. We stopped at the buildings and watched birds in the bird feeders and other critters running around. Very nice place. Yay! read more

Beautiful trails with so many choices. Walk through the woods on a wide dirt trail, walk along bridges to the large park nearby or walk a thin tree-lined trail right along the river (more ducking below trees and balancing on rocks but quite fun). This park is perfect for pictures - the day we went, numerous families were having portraits taken (which made crossing the bridge a nuisance since it was blocked with people and photographers equipment). Also, certain parts of the river were "off limits" due to photographers using the space. No problem to us at all but other families were bothered. Lol There is a great peaceful park near the trails for kids to play on but a newer, larger playground near the playing fields as well. Also, an area where a band was playing near the parking lot. There really is a lot to do! I would have definitely given 5 stars if there was more parking offered for the trails. All the (small) lots were crammed full and we had to park pretty far to get there. It was fine upon arriving but after hiking for two hours, the walk back to the car wasn't as fun. Still... A super day!! read more

The Cibolo Nature Center is located just east of Boerne, off SH46, on City Park Rd. It's day-use only (no campsites), but has rental facilities for weddings, parties, art events, etc., complete with kitchen. A trail from these facilities runs back to Cibolo Creek (future plans have the trail going into town, all the way to the Main Plaza Park). Huge cypress trees line both side of the creek, offering plenty of shade and some amazing photo ops. The Center is mere minutes from Boerne, with its many shops and eateries, and once you get on I-10, it's just a short drive to San Antonio. read more

Drive up to entrance & drop stuff off (ex folding chairs, cooler, etc) then go park. Food truck varies. $10/person kids 12 & under get in free. I remember the early years of the Center, mainly just a few unpaved roads to make your way down to the creek. Those roads are now hiking trails; they're not strenuous and easily doable by most folks. On the other end of the Center, there's another trail. My wife was in a wheelchair but we found we could navigate this trail with little difficulty. Throughout the years there are various programs and, at least when I lived in Boerne, they were well-attended. So pack up the kids and hit the trails! Visited November 2016 read more

This was a gorgeous nature preserve, with plenty of acreage to take dogs on a walk or let kids play. They had a small playground for the kids, my dogs played in the water, it wasn't overly crowded, and was very serene. read more

I must say, you can't beat free. This is a great place for children to explore marshes, wetlands, creeks, and nature at its best. There bathrooms are very clean and neat. It is also a great place for a birthday party. There is a small pavilion covered with picnic tables. It is overall a place for all ages. You can even have a romantic stroll down one of their many paths. This is a non-profit organization so I recommend checking out there gift shop and showing your support. read more

Went here to take our engagement photos and they turned out gorgeous. It's a beautiful place to take pictures! There were a lot of other people there with photographers as well - it seems pretty popular. Take an extra pair of shoes if you go after it rains - it does get pretty muddy! read more

This place was Great. My daughter's class had a field trip here to look at the different types of birds. I went with my daughters class not knowing what to expect and I will have to say that I should have worn different clothing. If you like nature trails this is a good place to go. They have a small creek where you can go down and see also part of the trail is covered with tall trees that provide shade while you walk. I spent all day there and walk about 4 miles total, by the end of the day I realized I brought the wrong shoes and the wrong clothing. I was super tired however I really enjoyed myself the best part of this was it didn't cost a dime. I also think it is a great place to take the kids and show them a little bit of nature in a short bit of time. read more

Great location for pictures! My husband finds poke stops here. My son loves the preserved dinosaur tracks. My favorite spot is the swamp terrain especially at dusk you can hear the bull frogs echoing and the turtles begin to surface. read more

This is a WONDERFUL place to visit on a weekday by oneself, very quiet and relaxing. The walk through the nature center paths isn't all the long, but you still feel like you've really gotten away from it all when you're walking along the river. The ladies that work the front of it are very friendly and will give you a nice little map to follow. You can walk through the paths and right to the duck pond of downtown Boerne if you're so inclined. It makes for a perfect day away from the city. There's also dinosaur tracks in the front of it to take a look at for the young and the young at heart. :) read more

This is a great little place to get your hike on. There are plenty of trails and paths to explore with the kids and the wildlife viewing is ample for them too. If you are a serious hiker, then this might not be for you. But Cibolo Nature Center is a great way to get the kids back in touch with nature. read more

Riverside is a little older but it doesn't disappoint! Hilltop is a newer camp with nicer amenities but both camps were awesome. I sent my children, one boy, one girl to the second week of camp. My daughter was at Riverside and my son at Hilltop. They separate the camps between boys and girls. I think it gives the kiddos a sense of freedom from having to be around the opposite sex and just focus on sister/brother hood. They do a lot of activities with each other though and each camp visits the other camp quite often. They do dances, plays, competitions! The camp takes photos daily of your kiddos and I lived for them! They uploaded them sometimes by the hour, but usually by the next day! When I would see photos of my son and daughter smiling, laughing and having a great time it really eased this mama's aching and lonely heart. When I picked them up, they both were talking over each other describing how amazing this camp was. I had to make them talk one at a time. Not just from the activities but the counselors who made it amazing! The camp really focuses on ensuring they have quality, caring, professional, compassionate and amazing counselors! These counselors have all been to the camp themselves so they know they have big shoes to fill! They ensure every kid is looked after and ensure each child is cared for. They understand how scary it can be to be away from their family so they make sure every kid is taken care of. They do not tolerate bullying and ensure, if it happens, it stops immediately. No child is ever alone, well except taking a shower and using the restroom. However, they are escorted pretty much everywhere to ensure their security! The entire way home, my kids were sharing with me their wonderful experience, the songs they sung and of course the friends they made during the camp! My kids wanted to go back! So back we went to another week but to Hermann Son's first ever co-ed extended 10-day camp! Boy oh boy! If I missed them for the one week, I definitely missed them more during that long week. However, again, seeing my kid's smiling faces and then coming back to them being so incredibly happy and excited! I'm thinking about sending them several weeks here because it's always different! They are engaged and just had a wonderful time! We will definitely be back again this summer but possibly more weeks! We shall see how this mama does!! You and your kids will NOT be disappointed!! The project manager was rarely present at the job site and typically only appeared after we called or texted to request his presence. The project also took significantly longer than the timeline we were originally given, with little proactive communication regarding delays or revised completion dates. This created unnecessary frustration and uncertainty throughout the construction process. We experienced numerous workmanship issues as well. The plaster was not completed properly, resulting in concerns about the overall quality and finish of the pool. Even more concerning, the tile work and grout are already showing signs of failure after only two months. These problems should not be occurring so soon after completion and raise serious concerns about the quality of the work performed. The subcontractors hired for the project also appeared to do only the bare minimum required, with little attention to detail or pride in workmanship. The quality of the finished product does not reflect the level of investment we made and represented by the designer. Looking back, choosing this company was a mistake. We met with three other pool builders during the selection process, and we now regret not moving forward with one of those companies instead. We placed our trust in this company to deliver a quality product and a professional experience, but unfortunately, they failed to meet reasonable expectations in both areas. Overall, we expected professional project management, quality craftsmanship, and clear communication. Instead, we experienced delays, lack of oversight, questionable workmanship, and ongoing issues that should never occur in a newly completed pool. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend this company.

But for safety reasons I had to write this one,…read moreand if you don't have time to read it all let me just start by saying please just go literally anywhere else for your child's safety. So first of all, there are 4 larger water slides. And probably 3 or so smaller ones. They have a total of 2 lifeguards on watch. One lifeguard sits at a chair "watching over" the smaller, right side of the park. And the other one switching between the top of the larger water slides every so often depending on which is busier. There are multiple lifeguards but only 2 out on the park floor at a time, all very young teenagers. Not a single adult working there. I think that is a huge problem in itself but let me go on. I watched my 4 yr old like a hawk the whole time we were there because the lifeguards obviously weren't paying attention, lots of older kids running around, etc. I watch my son go down the larger slide. I'm waiting at the bottom for him for 5 minutes. Still hasn't came out. I go to the top to look down the slide where there should've been a lifeguard but no one to be found. I go to the lifeguard sitting in the chair at the front and tell him that my 4 yr old went down and has not came out yet and I think he's stuck in the slide. He ARGUES WITH ME and says "no I've been watching and there's no one in the slide" UMMMM WHAT?!! Obviously realizing they could care less about my child or any children there, and I don't have time to argue because I'm worried about my 4 yr old, I rush back to the top of the slide and go down it and what do u know, my son was stuck in the middle of the pitch black loop of the slide, terrified and crying. This is totally unacceptable, I don't even have words. Hopefully that's enough to let you know this is not the place to go but if not, let me move on to my next complaint. There was a group of older kids constantly trying to climb up the larger water slides in the back that no one can see unless you walk back there. Which in the 3 hours I was there not one lifeguard walked back there or even glanced to check on anything. The first time I notified the lifeguard about the kids going up the slide, she went back there and told them that's not allowed. Then they kept doing it and multiple other parents complained as well. The second time I complained that they were still doing it and almost seriously injured my 4 yr old, the lifeguard said "oh I know I already told them to stop". Ummmm okay??? So you're just going to keep letting them do it putting all the other kids at danger?? At MINIMUM their parent should've been notified but in my opinion they should've been asked to leave after the 3rd complaint/telling them to stop. Honestly I could go on and on but I don't have all day. I truly just hope they increase the amount of lifeguards and hire experienced lifeguards that actually care about children's safety and at minimum have one adult employee on-site.

We had a great time walking next to the Guadalupe River which loops around for miles. Shady areas under the canopy of the trees and lots of picnic areas inside the park. Fishing seems very popular at the park, and you can see the trout swimming around. We walked for 8 miles on Easter Sunday, and the walking paths never seemed crowded. We shared the paths with other walkers, joggers ,runners, and bikes on the path too.

They have a good number of waterslides here as well as having all of them be completely different from the next one definitely the highlight of the slides has to be Thunder Rapids Water Coaster as it's the first of its kind in North America and wow is it fun I've never ridden a slide like this before and I found it to be super fun as well as Wet and totally unique to anything I've ever experienced before as the technology that created this is totally rad and a great way to knock out those huge stair cases! The ground here can get super hot I mean super hot and that's coming from me someone who's always barefoot at waterparks so make sure you bring some sandals or something to keep your feet cool from the burning cement or just try to walk in the shade and water spots to keep them from burning! As anyone who visits waterparks will tell you coming to one can be a great workout as well as a rewarding time as your climbing lots of staircases and getting some swim action in if you choose to do that wile your inside their huge State Of Texas shaped wave pool. The waterpark opened a bit later than the park but it was all good as it was super hot by then and this was much needed the best part about this is that Gold Pass members can get into the Water Park 10 min early so that will definitely save you a bit of time and get you on a few more slides! Overall I really enjoyed my time here at the waterpark as all the slides were fun and I thought it was cool that their wave pool had its unique Texas shape to it as it made for some fun waves and splashes! People leave their stuff all over the tables and then disappear, so you can't sit down anywhere to eat. There is no shade anywhere over water, so you can't wade unless you are directly in the Texas Sun. If you want shade, you have to pay for it by buying lounge chairs or a cabana. The kids waited in line for about 25 minutes for the ride to breakdown; when this happens, they do not accommodate them by fast passing them later or anything like that, they are basically just told tough luck, try again later. A locker big enough to fit a backpack will run you $17.

Everything is super maintained than most parks I've been before! I usually go with my MIL, my baby girl and our dogs to get them some exercise as well and try to do 1-2 miles each time we are here. Depending on what trails you walk/hike on, theres some with shade and some that you will hit up the blazing sun, but with fall upon it hasn't been horrible! Everyone who hikes here are really respectful with the trails/area which is such a pleasant thing as there's usually not a lot of people who do that now a days. Will of course be returning weekly to get our steps in and vitamin D!

Good information about the park too and didn't feel I would get lost either (good flat paths you can take). I barely saw any trash flying around either and could tell they keep this park well kept. I absolutely plan to come back here in the future when I have time. Definitely worth the visit!
