The nature center is an extension of the Boerne City Park. Admission is free but donations are encouraged. I'm encouraging you as well. These folks put their hearts and souls into conserving nature...& it's not free to do so. There's a visitor center, gift shop, and walking trails. Spring-fed marsh, wildflowers, wooded areas, tall-grass, and so on. You can sometimes spot an armadillo or two scurrying about (along with other critters). There's a Monarch Butterfly research field to check out too. They have learning center and auditorium too. Really beautiful way to spend a day in nature. read more

We had my sister's bridal shower here at The Gathering Hall and it was perfect! We had access to the kitchen, fridge, and there were quite a few plates and drink containers available for us as well as tables, chairs, and linens! It was in August and incredibly hot outside, but it was so nice inside and we had a great view of the farm in the back! Lots of room to fit 35 people comfortably and it would be even more beautiful with more space in cooler weather! Staff was INCREDIBLY sweet, informative, and helpful!! read more

If you're out near Bernie Texas, definitely make time to check out the Cibilo nature center. They have a visitor center that is free and has various trails going along the Greenbelt near Cibilo in Boerne. It's a great place to visit if you're spending the day near Bernie they even have a gift shop but keep in mind that it is only open certain days during the week. read more

Cibolo Nature Center is the brainchild of Carolyn Chipman Evans who in 1988 envisioned a place where people could connect with nature. Over time the center has expanded to include Nest Nature School, Herff Farm with a weekly farmer's market, and miles of water and wildlife conservation. The hiking areas go along the creek and offer really beautiful classic hill country scenery. The area is a popular spot for professional photos with affordable permits from $25-50. For hiking the trails are available 8AM to dusk seven days per week. The center is free for hiking. Parking is a bit limited, arriving early is beneficial. read more

I first stopped at the Visitor Center to get a map and some recommendations. The person at the center was so friendly and nice. Dogs are allowed in the park and there's plenty of doggie bags and trashcans around. The center area has some parking, a pavilion, restrooms and a gift shop. The hiking loop is about 2 miles and can be longer, depending on if you decide to take smaller trails around. However, everything is basically a loop so you won't get lost too easily. You might end up spending a lot of time just enjoying the view and watching the creek! Although I visited during the fall/winter time, there's still much to see. We saw deer drinking from the creek, stumbled on two armadillos and countless wren and birds in the trees. I'm sure the view in the spring and summer is even more gorgeous. Know that there's many areas without shade so it could get very hot. Near the creek has plenty of shade but the trails are more narrow. And, lots of exposed tree roots that may stumble and unwary hiker. read more

Well marked, easy to hike trails. We went on the weekend, so the visitors center wasn't open unfortunately. The area by the creek was beautiful. We saw deer, and lots of species of birds. read more

Came early on a Saturday and I was surprised as to why I've never been here. Being a trail and hike lover this place is absolutely beautiful to explore. Very pretty place to get away from the hustle and bustle of down town. Lots of trails, paved and unpaved. We really enjoyed just walking around and seeing where we end up. I will say though, the trails aren't marked very well. We would assume we were going one direction but we actually weren't. A lot of the trails seemed "sketch" too like it wasn't actually trail but us just trailing through the woods. read more

A nice little area adjacent to the city park. Has some very easy loop trails and some trails that run right along the creek. Dogs are allowed on a leash and the trails are well used and easy for animals. Facilities left a little to be desired but they did have open bathrooms which was nice. Fairly large parking area really close to the trailhead. Also looked like a nice area to take some family pictures or other formal pics. Looked like some engagement photos were being taken when we were out there. read more

I love this place. We chose Boerne for the hiking options. This place did not let us down. My hubby and I hiked for about 4 miles and stopped so many times to ooh and aah over the beautiful Bald Cypress trees. We stopped at the buildings and watched birds in the bird feeders and other critters running around. Very nice place. Yay! read more

Beautiful trails with so many choices. Walk through the woods on a wide dirt trail, walk along bridges to the large park nearby or walk a thin tree-lined trail right along the river (more ducking below trees and balancing on rocks but quite fun). This park is perfect for pictures - the day we went, numerous families were having portraits taken (which made crossing the bridge a nuisance since it was blocked with people and photographers equipment). Also, certain parts of the river were "off limits" due to photographers using the space. No problem to us at all but other families were bothered. Lol There is a great peaceful park near the trails for kids to play on but a newer, larger playground near the playing fields as well. Also, an area where a band was playing near the parking lot. There really is a lot to do! I would have definitely given 5 stars if there was more parking offered for the trails. All the (small) lots were crammed full and we had to park pretty far to get there. It was fine upon arriving but after hiking for two hours, the walk back to the car wasn't as fun. Still... A super day!! read more

The Cibolo Nature Center is located just east of Boerne, off SH46, on City Park Rd. It's day-use only (no campsites), but has rental facilities for weddings, parties, art events, etc., complete with kitchen. A trail from these facilities runs back to Cibolo Creek (future plans have the trail going into town, all the way to the Main Plaza Park). Huge cypress trees line both side of the creek, offering plenty of shade and some amazing photo ops. The Center is mere minutes from Boerne, with its many shops and eateries, and once you get on I-10, it's just a short drive to San Antonio. read more

This was a gorgeous nature preserve, with plenty of acreage to take dogs on a walk or let kids play. They had a small playground for the kids, my dogs played in the water, it wasn't overly crowded, and was very serene. read more

I remember the early years of the Center, mainly just a few unpaved roads to make your way down to the creek. Those roads are now hiking trails; they're not strenuous and easily doable by most folks. On the other end of the Center, there's another trail. My wife was in a wheelchair but we found we could navigate this trail with little difficulty. Throughout the years there are various programs and, at least when I lived in Boerne, they were well-attended. So pack up the kids and hit the trails! Visited November 2016 read more

I must say, you can't beat free. This is a great place for children to explore marshes, wetlands, creeks, and nature at its best. There bathrooms are very clean and neat. It is also a great place for a birthday party. There is a small pavilion covered with picnic tables. It is overall a place for all ages. You can even have a romantic stroll down one of their many paths. This is a non-profit organization so I recommend checking out there gift shop and showing your support. read more

Went here to take our engagement photos and they turned out gorgeous. It's a beautiful place to take pictures! There were a lot of other people there with photographers as well - it seems pretty popular. Take an extra pair of shoes if you go after it rains - it does get pretty muddy! read more

This place was Great. My daughter's class had a field trip here to look at the different types of birds. I went with my daughters class not knowing what to expect and I will have to say that I should have worn different clothing. If you like nature trails this is a good place to go. They have a small creek where you can go down and see also part of the trail is covered with tall trees that provide shade while you walk. I spent all day there and walk about 4 miles total, by the end of the day I realized I brought the wrong shoes and the wrong clothing. I was super tired however I really enjoyed myself the best part of this was it didn't cost a dime. I also think it is a great place to take the kids and show them a little bit of nature in a short bit of time. read more

This is a WONDERFUL place to visit on a weekday by oneself, very quiet and relaxing. The walk through the nature center paths isn't all the long, but you still feel like you've really gotten away from it all when you're walking along the river. The ladies that work the front of it are very friendly and will give you a nice little map to follow. You can walk through the paths and right to the duck pond of downtown Boerne if you're so inclined. It makes for a perfect day away from the city. There's also dinosaur tracks in the front of it to take a look at for the young and the young at heart. :) read more

If you are a serious hiker, then this might not be for you. But Cibolo Nature Center is a great way to get the kids back in touch with nature. read more
