Where Sugardough stands up is through the consistency and crunch of their breads. They don't over produce, so you won't be getting left over stock at the end of the day. They also do great (and consistently so) coffee, cakes, pizza slices and have some of the best pies in Melbourne. Th dish was also served with some kidney beans and corn. My friend and I couldn't believe how good they were. They're not crispy but more like soft cutlets. The baked eggs dish include three slices of buttered sourdough bread which was quite crunchy and difficult to cut into. The baked eggs were well favoured and included two baked eggs in a bed of tomato sauce with chickpeas and eggplant and topped with some delicious soft cheese. Service is quick. Meals are delicious. I came along for the yelp cafe smart fundraiser. Huge open layout with high ceilings and lots of well designed furniture. I really liked their range of coffee brewing equipment for sale which unlike some other cafés around town these guys actually use them all (I'm talking to you sensory lab!). The all important coffee test was a thumbs up - quite nice. I also got a espresso brownie to share and while it was nice found it a little dry and could not taste any coffee. Still the open kitchen was really nice and I would definitely consider coming back for a bite to eat and a coffee. It's a nice place to relax with a book or newspaper and large enough to not feel very crowded or cramped. I like it.

Lovely timber throughout with copper highlights on the kickboards and under the white marble bar top, with a shiny La Marzocco linea on top. Contrasted with some lovely French Victorian tessellated tiles, all of which is designed to reflect the buildings heritage. The designer did an amazing job. Everything else is the usual Market Lane high quality. Coffee is a little more consistent then some of the other stores I've noticed. Treats by the incredibly delicious Beatrix. There's not a great deal of seating inside, and outside is not covered so takeaway is your best option unless your not there during a rush or it's nice weather.

They offer espresso and pour overs, and have a range of home brewing equipment for sale (particularly the Kalita brand). I just popped in for coffee, but food wise they offer great brunch fare. If you're a fan of waffles, you're in luck because they have a dedicated waffle section, as well as some other very tempting items like 5 and dime bagels. All very bread/carb heavy so if it's not your bag, you might not find something you're after. I'd definitely come back for the coffee or a waffle if I was feeling less virtuous than my last visit!
