The restaurant is large and has different areas to sit. If you want to sit at a bar, you can. If you want a table, you can have one. There are booths and chairs. Our waiter was fast and friendly and provided refills throughout the meal. As an appetizer, we requested corn fritters that were served with a sauce. The fritters and sauce were very good. For dinner, I requested shrimp and chicken curry with noodles and vegetables. The food was prepared quickly and delivered to our table. My curry was delicious and it had a small amount of spice. The waiter explained the various levels of heat available in the food. My wife requested level two and I wondered why, since level one was already spicy. My wife likes a touch of spice in her food on occasion. Overall, everyone enjoyed their meals. I would like to visit again to try the pad Thai. Good meal. Good service. read more

I was super excited to enjoy a meal with my mother at this stylish downtown Thai restaurant. The service was impeccable. The food was delicious. And the menu was clearly marked for all allergies. I really appreciate when restaurants don't make me beg to keep myself safe. My mom really likes spice. And she doesn't like to be second-guess about whether she can handle it. When she asked for a level of spice that seemed kind of high no one questioned her. When she got her food, even the highest level spice was still not high enough when she asked if she could have a few more spices, our waitress brought over a spice station. She LOVED that. Excellent Thai food meal here before a recent concert, and within easy walking distance. Space is open, airy and bright. Server was cordial but service was on the slow side. Thai spiced had lots of veggies and chicken and shrimp but level three spice was too hot for me and I like spice. The restaurant has a big bar, multiple spaces perfect for big parties/events, and sushi bar. Sushi was pretty disappointing. It tasted dry, not the freshest catch. It did not taste like restaurant quality meal. Sake was good and offered by local distributor. The space is very humble in terms of ambiance. The restaurant is conveniently located in downtown Akron. We went in for some classic Thai noodle dishes and they were excellent - fresh, flavorful, steaming hot. I like that they tailor the spice level consistently based on your 1-to-5 preference. Start of the show: Duck Curry and Lychee Martini - this savory sweet pairing stole the night. All the ingredients were fresh and delicious. The duck skin was crisp and the meat was tender. I got mine on a 2 spice although next time I'll go for a 3 or 4. Honorable mention: spicy muscles- for the price you get a good amount and they are cooked with spicy mayo- they have a full body flavor and a great light appetizer. Martinis: The Pomegranate Blueberry tasted like perfume, it was not ideal to get my buzz on. The lychee martini was amazing, great subtle flavor. Disappointing: the mango sticky rice- they rice was stale and the mango was not ripe at all. You can skip it. Went to Cilantro last night for a double date, and this place did not disappoint! We decided to split a sushi boat for two among four people, and it was more than enough food. Of course, we ordered a few extra items on the side, and everything was absolutely awesome. The service was great--attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home. We requested a table towards the back, which was perfect for a more relaxed atmosphere. The front of the restaurant feels a bit like you're on display, and sitting further back gave us the space we were hoping for. WOW! I cannot stop talking about this place, this was the best thai food I have ever had. This was an unplanned visit and just stopped in for some dinner and it was EXCEPTIONAL. the starters were incredible. order the thai garlic wings and the beef salad and you will not be dissapointed. there was SO much flavor it was incredible. the thai beef noodle soup was something like I have never had before. the broth and everything in it was unbeatable, and i left the place planning my next visit just so i could have it again. the cilantro garlic house special stirfry was amazing, all the veggies were still crunchy and not soggy from sauce. so flavorful. the black pepper chicken sauce dish was incredible as well. everything was just so delicious. the staff was so friendly and there was a lot of seating and the place was beautifully decorated. I WILL be back here the next time I am craving some thai food or honestly just want a flavorful meal. I have told lots of friends and family members about this place since my visit. just know that street parking may be required since it is located right off a busy street, but definitely worth finding a spot and walking a couple minutes if needed :) read more

My wife and I have eaten here a few times now. Let's start with the sushi because the quality of the fish has been the absolute best I've found in the region and at a "good but not expensive" price point. They consistently hit the right notes to be a step ahead for the area even on the basics like a tuna or California roll. That is just the start though. Because they exceed expectations on the complexity they offer as well and bring those presentations off with a conservative mix of surprise and innovation! The other thing I have to mention is the Thai. Authentic enough that they don't mind surprising guests with that cilantro magic and signature uniqueness. They also bring that same consistency from the Sushi Bar with their curries and other Thai staples. Absolutely the best Panang Curry (drizzle some on your California roll!) I've found in the area too. The atmosphere is warm and modern with a tasteful "closet kitschy". Walk in the door and it's the nice enough to be good and humble enough not to break the wallet. First of all, the restaurant is beautiful, light and modern with tasteful decor everywhere you look and pops of orange all around. We went at 4:30 on a Saturday and were seated quickly. By 5 there were at least 6 other parties eating there as well. Our waiter, Bruce, did a great job making sure we were well taken care of. We scanned a QR code to view the menu. Our food came out within what seemed like 10 minutes and it tasted delicious. I inhaled my Thai basil fried rice and my partner enjoyed his Massaman curry too. Both were quite spicy at level 3/5. We've been here before and had a 5 star experience. So we took friends there tonight. It wasn't busy and we had reservations so we were seated immediately. It took a half hour to get our beverages and our waitress hadn't even taken our order! I had to speak to the manager each time we needed our waitress as she was also working the bar and talking with ppl at the bar. Our appetizers did not come out together and my sashimi main course came out well before the hot food of the table. This place exceeded my expectations! The taste, presentation, atmosphere, portions and service were all splendid! Minor recommendations to making this a 5-star experience: -have a comprehensive paper menu. This is one of those "you have to use your phone during dinner" type of restaurants because that's the only way to see the menu. The menu is not all displayed and organized by tiny sections so there is no way to completely see everything that is offered at once. Usability-wise, this is such an inconvenience to seeing something already smaller and squashed on your phone. -speed. We came on a Tuesday night and I suppose it's because there was a musical that night (the reason why we came here...) but clearly there were empty tables but they were not being utilized. We had to wait at the bar for about 15 minutes which ended up being fine but not sure what all the unoccupied tables were being used for... -out of the way bathrooms. You had to go outside the restaurant and downstairs to get to the bathrooms, haha Good stuff: -bartender, hostess, waitress all super friendly, peppy and nice -my ramen bowl and my date's yakisoba were soooo yummy. The chaoshao pork was mmmmm! Excited to try other dishes from their menu! -ambiance, building and decor were all tasteful and nice. It looked a lot like Crave, which was on the same street -FINALLY! My family visited for a birthday, as we have many times over the years because this is a family favorite. We are usually in the front of the restaurant but this time were seated in the drafty back corner of the restaurant, it was chilly enough that a couple people had to leave their coats on. They no longer have paper menus, only the QR codes you scan on your phone, which was very difficult for the vision-challenged people at our table to navigate on tiny screens. The initial water and drink orders were fast, but when our seasonal cocktails arrived, there were elements missing from them due to a "supply issue" - the bartender apologized but we were still charged the full price for the drinks. It took 20 minutes to receive the drinks and order appetizers, another 5 for two of our party to receive their hot tea (Kirkland brand bagged green tea and mugs of hot water) and the waitress didn't come back to take dinner orders until 35 minutes after we were seated. It was the worst service we have ever had there, and because the waitress checked on us so infrequently, every time there were multiple basic requests (silverware, hot water, chopsticks, appetizer plates, straws, etc) that something was always forgotten and the waitress was visibly overwhelmed. We felt bad but those are all very basic things, many of which should have been at the table from the start. At the end of the meal, one of our party had leftover soup and the waitress brought a container that was too small to fit everything and said "this is the only size we have," instead of just bringing two containers to accommodate the leftovers. A nice place to get Asian food in downtown Akron! Parking is on the street but it's free after 6 pm and we had no issues finding a spot last night. Menus are QR codes on the tables and they have a variety of Asian dishes (Thai, Japanese) and sushi. My sister ordered the cilantro specialty roll and the spicy salmon roll and enjoyed them both...the cilantro roll had such a cute presentation! I ordered the ramen with veggie gyoza and it was a huge portion for $13. Not exactly authentic but it wasn't expecting it to be. The real standout for me was the excellent service! I moved back to Ohio few months ago from Portland, Oregon and Thai being a favorite was excited to experience the food scene in Akron. Coming from a city where the restaurants, their staff and mixologists, (not just bartenders) are treated in high regard as the folks take pride and passion in not just creating amazing food that reaches from street carts and diner foods to upscale restaurants but they care so much for hospitality, quality, warm welcoming atmospheres, service, great customer experience, well respected and well trained staff, and immense pride in what they do and serve, I was shocked at the horrible experience I had from just walking in to sitting at the bar for over 20 minutes with no welcome, no one at the door or hostess stand. 3 people at times walking behind the bar with not one acknowledgement that we were sitting there. Not one eye contact, not one "I'm sorry we're understaffed I will be right with you." I witnessed plenty of chats with friends at end of bar and plenty of walking back and forth in front of the 2 of us with just rudeness. My friend and I both have spent years in restaurant industry as servers, bartenders...tried quiet and patient but after 20 minutes of sitting and still not a glance til we had to interrupt....which resulted in still no service, then more time wasted with nothing we got up and left. I can see the lack of training and frankly simple respect for customers...shocking when the staffs livelihood depends on customer experience. I can't speak to the quality of the food as I was never even served a water. I will never be stepping into this place again nor recommending it. read more

Last time I went to pick up my order, I waited 10 minutes before receiving any assistance/service. The hostess walked right by me when I walked in. She went to sit a customer at a table. But instead of coming back to assist me, she started cleaning empty tables. She saw me waiting but continued to finish wiping all the empty tables before coming back up to the desk. Never have I been to a restaurant where they choose to clean empty tables before greeting customers. It wasn't just her. There were also waiters and waitresses behind the bar just talking. They were doing nothing. I was going to say something to them but it just wasn't worth it. It would have just ruined my dinner even more. We just won't eat there again. read more

So nice to eat at a full-service Thai restaurant vs. the increasingly all too common fast casual or take out Thai places. The ambiance and vibe in there was really cool, and made us all wonder about the origins of the building. We had several great appetizers, some fun drinks, and generous appetizers. They give you the option to choose your heat level, and if you didn't choose spicy enough, they'll even bring the stuff to your table (chili flake and chili oil) to make your food even hotter! The ceilings are high, the lighting isn't too bright and the music was pretty cool. This place felt like you could hang out with a group of your friends or have a nice date here. Service: Kenzie took excellent care of us. She was funny, personable and made sure that we had everything we needed. Food: I'm a huge chicken wing fan so I had to try both the Hot and the Thai Garlic Wings. They were pretty good to be honest! I enjoyed the hot over the other flavor, but both were delightful. I followed those up with a Cilantro Roll which is spicy tuna topped with tuna, crunchy flakes and special sauces. It was fantastic and comes with quite the presentation. I'd definitely get this entire meal again. Value: Pretty good man. I got 12 wings for $14.00 ($7.00 per order of 6) and my roll was $14.00, but the GOOD sushi rolls are never cheap. My gin and tonics were CHEAP though. Lol. $4.75 a piece and Kenzie was hookin' 'em up! In conclusion I liked Cilantro. Love this Thai restaurant! I've had their food multiple times, both dining in and taking out, and it's been delicious each time! If you like a classic Pad Thai, that dish is awesome. The portions are a great size for the prices. I'm not a big sushi fan but my friends say it's very good. Our server was incredibly accommodating and helpful in answering questions and getting us anything we needed so quickly.
