I think the restaurant portion of this place gets about a 1-2 star but the market portion was actually pretty nice with fresh produce, fruits and unexpired snacks, desserts, dry goods. So my food experience was probably more of a 1 but if you get to stop by their market, I was happy with the goodies and groceries I found. Like a couple of people said, this place was haphazardly run for sure. There was only one worker for the market and the restaurant. Even though there was only 1 other table of people plus my party (4 people), it seemed to be too much to handle for the 1 worker. Service was super slow, he couldn't really answer any questions and nothing really met expectations. The menu was the worst one I had ever seen in terms of misspellings and wrong pictures and inaccuracies and I'm comparing it to other Asian menus that tend to get some typos every once in a while. This menu never had one complete line without a couple of typos...which, you know, if the description and picture were accurate enough, it still wouldn't have mattered. There were multiple pictures of their pad thai dish that looked like a thin eggy crepe on top of stir fried noodles--extremely appetizing. Server said off the bat that nope, the dish does not look like that at all. Okay...fine but then please get a different picture. I ordered the Egg Noodles soup that clearly listed: Egg noodles with scallion, carrot, cilantro, mushroom, ground chicken, ground pork and ground beef. Literally none of those items were in my dish except for a few strips of carrot. The "egg noodles" were the cheap vermicelli clear noodles, no ground beef but really stringy, tough pieces of leftover beef and only celery pieces instead of mushrooms, cilantro, scallions. It was completely different. Server offered no explanation to the differences nor a discount or anything... Someone ordered the baso (basil) fried rice and it looked amazing. The other 2 in my party ordered chicken pad thai which looked really corn starchy and pink instead of the more natural brown sauce I'm used to at better Thai restaurants. Horrible experience overall. We went in about 2pm on a Sunday when a lot of other restaurants were closed and there were 2 other tables in there. That's it. It looked half closed inside and was a bit in disarray. We honestly should have just left. Took forever to get a drink order placed and once we did took even longer to get it. I noticed that everyone around us got everything they ordered really haphazardly. Tables got nothing together. One person would get a drink. One person would get an appetizer. Once person would get a set of utensils. Nothing was organized. Again. Should have left. We placed our orders for 2 entrees and a sushi roll to be eaten as an appetizer along with egg rolls. Quite some time later one entree came out. No utensils, no soy sauce, no eggs rolls, no sushi. Then 5 minutes later another entree. Same issue. Then 5 minutes later the eggs rolls. Still no sushi (which was asked to be an appetizer). Finally the sushi. Still no chopsticks and no soy sauce for the sushi. Husband took ONE BITE of the sushi and realized it was bad. He sent it back. I mean, it was really bad. Rancid. They said they'd remake it. We said no. It was supposed to be an appetizer anyways and we had lost all desire to eat there now and we also didn't trust their kitchen after rancid sushi, so please refund it. They agreed. They gave us the wrong check. A cheaper one for a different table. I was trying to be honest so I told them. They got mad at me. The owner started yelling at me. Literally yelling at me. What the heck?!? For being honest?!? When she finally gave me the correct receipt she refused to take off the sushi. I reminded her we sent it back because it was absolutely rancid. She started yelling louder. Screaming so loud someone who was there placing a to go order said "if you're going to treat your customers like this I'm leaving" and he left without his order. Then, this woman, the owner, has the audacity to say to me that she did not want to "serve (my) kind" (someone disabled) at her restaurant. She said disabled people were not welcome at her restaurant. (I have a service dog so it's obvious I have a disability!) I just about lost my mind when she said this. I was totally shocked by this comment. She still wanted to charge me for the rancid sushi we sent back. I refused to do so and told her that if she was going to discriminate against me I'm going to have no choice but to dispute it with my credit card because I will NOT be accused of stealing, or dine and dash, from someone who is so discriminatory, and I will NOT be charged for food that was rancid which we sent back after one bite. I stood my ground. Finally she took off the charge that she told me she'd take off always. She's a horrible business owner. She's a rude and disrespectful person and the food is disgusting. A little gem in the middle of nowhere. On our way to Stan Hywet Manor in Akron, Ohio. We stopped at this restaurant. Decor is simple, the restaurant is quiet so you can have a conversation. Best Thai in the area, by far. Authentic, delicious and reasonably priced. My favorite dishes here are the Pad See Ew, tea leaf salad (hard to find tea leaf items on menus in general) , tom yum soup and veg fried rice. Normally I wouldn't even bother with fried rice at a Thai spot, defaulting to more flavorful choices but this fried rice is the best I've had anywhere. Drinks are great too. Lyeh is one of the more underrated Thai spots in Akron. Cilantro and Lyeh are my go to's for take out. They have a very well priced menu and a great array of thai dishes. Each dish has an amazing mix of flavors and you can tell they put in effort on each dish to make it fresh and presentable. They also do a good job with the spice if you ask for it. If you can't handle much spice definitely ask for mild or no spice. I will keep returning as long as I'm in the area. The staff are very kind and always make sure to make things right. There are a couple tables and I'd definitely feel comfortable eating here. It was all really really good, but I may have been expecting too much. I think the pad Thai was above average. I really liked it with the hint of lime squeezed on there. The drunken noddles were fine, but a little dry. Maybe if I'd had eaten them there or quickly it would have been better. I've been wanting to try Lyeh for a few months now. I noticed them when going to spaghetti night at the Italian Center across the street. After reading reviews, I really wanted to go. Well, tonight I have no kids and hubby is on the road. I stopped on my way home from work and ordered the Pad Thai with pork and a couple egg rolls. I'm pretty picky about my egg rolls. These were ok but not outstanding. The Pad Thai was the best I've had in the area! The portion size was large, but don't think I didn't finish every single bite. Next, I want to try the Pho. While I was waiting for my order to be cooked, I looked around at the store next door. I'll definitely be back and it'll probably be this week. Good Thai is so hard to come by in CLE. I agree with prior reviewers - hands down the most authentic one I have been to in the area. The Tom Kha Gai (coconut milk chicken soup) is as close as we have gotten to the ones we've had in Thailand. The Tom Yum Soup was also seasoned perfectly. The Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles were flavorful and approved by all (including the 3 year old). The green curry w shrimp was excellent and as described by others. The most authentic Thai and Burmese cuisine you'll ever find in Akron/cleveland area. I ordered Burmese tea leaf salad and fried tilapia with sour and spicy sauce. omg it was like I was eating back in my country. My boyfriend ordered green curry and strawberry bubble tea. He said it's one of the best he's ever eaten. The bubble tea seems to have some condensed milk (classic Burmese smoothie style) and my boyfriend was kept saying 'it was f**king amazing!' Lol! Real gem of a Thai restaurant, with some great, unexpected offerings. I've eaten Thai around the country, this is probably the best I've had in Ohio at the price point. Atmosphere and service were fine, but the food was the star. The husband and wife cook team do magic in the back. Easy to find and park. Clean, spacious, and quiet atmosphere. The menu is pretty traditional, but the food has such strong, well-balanced flavors! They will also make things "thai hot" spicy. I have a high heat tolerance, usually order spicy/ extra spicy. Medium here is hot. Ingredients were fresh and cooked properly. Portions are generous. I ordered: dumplings (7.5/10, i love gyoza/dumplings, these were hot, fresh, no surprises), tea leaf salad (8.7/10, excited to see this super flavorful Burmese dish offered, well executed, never had with tomatoes), chicken larb (8.5/10, again amazing flavor, great citrus savory balance), beef pho (7.4/10, not a pho place, but was happy to see it), green curry (9.2/10, everything Thai curry should be, so good), Pad Woo Sen (9.1/10, rich, complex, savory, really satisfying, didn't expect this to be a good as it was), Pad Thai (8/10, well executed, traditional). The decor is also very pleasant and would be ideal for a quiet romantic meal or larger gatherings (birthdays, etc.). We had lunch there recently for my husband's birthday and noticed there were few customers. They do a larger take-out business, but I'm writing this review in hopes that folks in the Akron/Cuyahoga Falls/Tallmage/Kent/Fairlawn area will consider enjoying a meal there in person for lunch and/or dinner. The decor may not be much but they make up for it in quality, flavor, portions, and price!!! We both ordered soups and curries and had so much to eat we had to bring half home!! Very pleased we tried Lyeh. Ordered to go and picked it up 30 minutes later. I got two orders of papaya salad, vegetable springrolls, cashew chicken, basil fried rice with chicken, and shrimp pad thai. All of this food was a little over $32. Papaya salad was delicious. The heat and flavors crept up on me and it was thoroughly enjoyable. The pad thai was excellent. Lots of flavor, nice big shrimp, and great noodles. The cashew chicken, which was for my wife, was awesome with a great flavor and bursting with fresh ginger. Basil fried rice was excellent. The only thing I didn't love was the vegetable spring rolls. Maybe I just got a bad batch but they were a bit soggy. Overall the food was excellent and we had enough for a couple more meals!! read more

I should know by now that Yelp won't lead me astray. Today, I had my doubts. I pulled up to the storefront to be greeted by window ads, yellow poles, and other unwelcoming details. (This is a food review, so I'll spare those details.) Walking in the restaurant, I was once again underwhelmed by the surroundings. There were some pictures on the wall, some flowers arranged in a corner, but not much else. A few tables with condiments, but no employees in site. There was, however, a girl on her phone behind the counter. She greeted me softly, and asked what I wanted to eat. The menu was a loosely laminated series of sheets in a binder. Behind the counter were 16 large tiles featuring low-res photos of food and their numbers. DON'T LET ANY OF THIS DISCOURAGE YOU. Do you want ambiance, or do you want really great Thai? (Go for the second option, and trust me on this.) The drunken noodles with shrimp were everything I needed. The sauce had the zing of spice, accented with the sweetness of basil. The shrimp was tender, and the taste of seafood stood out among those other flavors. The egg rolls are crunchy and filled with all kinds of goodness without being excessively greasy. Lyeh isn't going to win any interior decorating prizes or customer service accolades. But the food is remarkable, fresh, and so so satisfying. First rule of any restaurant: Just make good food. This is the best Thai restaurant I've been to in NE Ohio! The food is cheap and it tastes amazing! I got the red curry with Thai tea and the service was extremely fast. The outside of the store might not look the best, but this is a hidden gem in Akron! Will definitely be getting all my Thai food here in the future! I pass by this restaurant often. Sign on the front says "take out" so I wasn't sure if it had inside seating (it does). I actually went in just to get a take out menu. Glad I did. I can't vouch for the authenticity of the food one way or the other as I don't know that much about Thai cuisine, per se. Other reviewers say it's the most authentic Thai food around, so I'll defer to their broader experience. I can vouch for the quality of the food here (though I've just had one meal there...but I'll definitely be returning). I went at lunch and was the only patron. As such, my service was OK but I can imagine it being a bit slow if they got busy. Another reviewer mentioned something of a language barrier and that's probably true. But that's exactly what we're looking for in our food adventures, right? I ordered Red Curry Chicken. It was served quickly and was very good. A bit spicy (which I like) but not overly. We were craving pho and stumbled across Lyeh. We split a bowl of pork and chicken pho and each had an egg roll. I had a few doubts because the initial atmosphere isn't...what you'd expect. Do NOT let that sway you. Seriously. Don't. I can honestly say this was life changing. I've definitely said "this is REALLY the best pho I've ever had before. " but really, really. This is the best pho I've ever had. The broth alone was light yet incredibly flavorful. There was such a huge portion of meat, and it was tender and delicious. The noodles were perfectly cooked. And as for the egg rolls, wow. It was unbelievable how flaky and crisp the outer shell was, and the filling was so flavorful. I was baffled. On top of great food, the employees are all incredibly nice as well. If you're looking for a sit down and be served place to eat, this is not it. This is the real deal! I have been to many cities in Thailand and Myanmar and LOVE the real, local food. I only eat at mom and pop places when I travel because I feel it is a more authentic experience. I had the green curry at Lyeh and it was delicious.
