The internet service has been so inconsistent. First they said that it was just bad wifi signal in the house so they gave me a second google wifi puck, no improvement other than the one device that I plugged into it. Then they said I didn't have enough bandwidth for all my devices so I got the 1gig package, somewhat better but still inconsistent. I called and tech support finally does more troubleshooting and had me run tests on my computer and then send the results to their engineering team. Supposedly the engineers were working on it and never got back to me. I couldn't call and contact anyone directly from engineering. Finally they sent a tech out (mind you this was all over the course of about 2 months and obviously I don't have time every day to test things and call) a tech comes and just totally makes things worse. They send a guy the next day after offering me $130 credit which is my normal monthly bill becuase I was really not even going to be bothered with another appointment. For now the service seems to be working as it should have been this entire time but get this they send me the bill without a credit, so I sent an email and they act like they don't know what I'm talking about. I explained and asked them to check the notes or listen to the call and they "kindly updated my account with a $75 credit" why after over a year of me paying for my service would they be sooooo cheap and difficult. So anyway I'm shopping for new service from a company that hopefully has some better customer service, some competent technicians, and maybe aren't bold face lairs. read more

Worst company on the face of the earth. Horrible customer service and clearly hire people that could care less about your issue. Even the supervisor was awful and could barely speak English. Have to wait a week and a half for A service tech to come out. CEO should be fired from this company because he certainly isn't doing his job and keeping his customers happy. Was on the phone for over 22 minutes repeating the same thing over and over that I did not have a dialtone. When I ask for a different department I was given the wrong phone number and had to start all over again. They're just awful. Really considering getting rid of my landline because of them. Had five days of no internet with Zoomtown. Told them the problems were not in my home, since nothing was damaged or changed. Called on a Monday, was told no appointments were available until Friday morning. When the technician showed up, he informed us the problem was at the station. Was promised a refund for the five days. Next bill was for one full month. Hard to call and talk to them. Long waits and very poor english and noisy phone centers. Cancelled and went with a cable modem. 30 X as fast, for not much more money. Glad to be done with CBT and zoomtown. read more

i just spent 40 min. getting a new service special, advertised on the website for $65. to include a phone, 500 mbp?? speed and 190 channels. add my 2 boxes, no modem and my $65.00 website special became $135.00 a month, e bill and auto payment. i am so angry, that is false advertising, bait and switch, you name it . i was furious that taxes ran $30.00 more a month. that i did not want a phone, but was gonna take it to get the deal. what a sham. they should be reported to the bbb or state business for such a flim flam way to do business. it has been crap in the past, has not changed a bit. read more

Try doing business with "tech"" help from the Philippines. No easy feat. It's so totally ridiculous that when you have problems and make a call you are speaking with someone in another country. Most of the time you have to ask repeatedly what they said. In the end, problem not solved and eventually.....and I do mean EVENTUALLY you will get an appointment with a real live tech to actually come to your home and solve the problem. I live in an apartment complex and have no choice as to whom I deal with as the complex has a contract with Fioptics. I would much prefer Time Warner! read more

been with Cincinnati bell now for over a year. service drops a lot but figured i would try and upgrade to fioptics to see if that helps with service connectivity. and between a tech to come out and get it all to work and fees they want an additional 150 dollars. this is some serious crappy customer service. everything should be waved especially since im an ongoing customer with issues already. will see how service is and may have to use their 30 day money back they offer because if i dont see serious improvements over what i have already then yea not worth it. and i have very little hope for them at this point. read more

I asked for the number of the corporate office after 7 multi-hour phone calls, I was then told that in today's age of technology that I can only write to a P.O. box. I asked to have someone in the corporate office contact me, that was a week ago! This is nothing less than unavailability to their customers, this shows a lack of duty of care. My bill has doubled, internet speeds are less than half of what they promote (when working), and a dissatisfied customer means nothing to them as a company. Very disappointed in Cincinnati Bell. I recently took over Operations for a local business that uses CB for phone and internet. We will be doing some construction in the offices and I wanted to forward calls to another phone number while the office with the phone jack was being worked on. I tried customer service. They told me all I had to do was dial *72. When I dial *72 I hear, "Sorry, your request cannot be accepted." So I told them, and the gal on the other end of the customer service went away to talk to someone for 3 minutes, then came back and said, "i'm going to reposition your call forwarding option. It's after 4pm (it was 4:40pm) so try again this time tomorrow and hopefully it will be working." I don't understand... I can see on my account, and it was confirmed by the rep on the phone that I have call forwarding options as part of my package. So why the heck can't I use it/do it? I can't hold off construction for this, it's already started. I also wanted to add that, after logging in to my account on the CB website, when I try to search for something, such as call forwarding, I keep getting taken to a page that says the page no longer exists. Is this a legitimate company? What the heck? I cannot and will not recommend Cincinnati Bell to anyone. read more

Horrible. The rep who sold me my service last year lied, lied, lied. He called and called until I finally answered and listened to his sales pitch. My rate continues to go up, up, up. He assured me if I had a question I would be talking to someone in the USA. That was a lie. That was one of the reasons I choose them over TWC as well as they had awesome packages (at that time as well). My bill is over 200 per month. It started out just last year at 158. WTH? Called Monday May 22nd to get service set up in my new apartment, move in date was scheduled for Sunday May 28th...they told me they couldn't get anyone out to hook up internet until June 5th!!! Really?! Two whole weeks?! I've never used Cincinnati Bell since I just moved here from out of state but I don't imagine they get a lot of new business if they can't connect would-be new customers for TWO whole weeks! Un frigging believable. Obviously you need to hire more service techs. I mean, there are several colleges and businesses in the area so I imagine theres a large volume to service but how can you claim to be the "leader" in the market in this area and the "fastest" internet in the area...but you can't get new clients hooked up anytime before two weeks in today's days world?! Ridiculous. I'll have to find another provider now. Until you guys can get new customers hooked up in a timely manner you are just going to continue to loose out on business. read more

In summary, if you have any choices for communication services...say "no" to Cincinnati Bell. At this point, I would recommend carrier pigeons because at least they might be reliable. I have had Cincinnati Bell service for 2 1/2 years...during that time there have been intermittent problems with the outside line and the service from customer service over the phone has been substandard but the technicians that have come to install and repair have been great (the only reason they even rate one star. This time a tree on a neighbor's property fell on the line 2 1/2 days ago...the first customer rep insisted it was a problem in the line inside the house and insisted I perform a reset and check the box outside the house before she would schedule a visit..the information that it is inside the house is apparently still part of the notes. A great technician came out a day later and actually figured out the issue but couldn't make the repair. Since then despite multiple calls...all I get are lies and runaround just to get me off the phone. I can't get any idea when the repair is scheduled and it may be a full 7 days without service. Spectrum is looking pretty good right now. read more

Worst internet provider i ever had. 1) I had been on the phone with customer service for about 45 minutes, half of it on hold, and they transferred me to over 5 different people who could not help me at all. I had called last month, they said that they will resolve it by this month and now they saying they will resolve it by the next month again 2) They had "upgraded" me to 20 m from 10m without asking me if i wanted and not.( and 20 m is coast 10$ more, also i didn't see any differences between 10 and 20m ) well ok i can go with that. But my bill grow up from 35$ to 55$, its not 10$ its 20 $ different. And what i found out today is I actually had 10m all this time, but they were saying that i had 20m and charging me for 20. 3) And today i asked them to fix my bill, they said that i will see it on my next billing cycle. Guess that will happen next month, same thing. So i'm not gonna wait for it, going to transfer to some thing else, it might cost a little more but its worth it. read more

I recently switched from Directv to Cincinnati Bell FiOptics and I've had to contact customer service a couple times already. First off, the internet is fast and there's no problem there. The WHOLE HOME DVR is pathetic. I have the base unit downstairs in the living room and a smaller remote unit upstairs in our bedroom. The remote unit WILL NOT PAUSE LIVE TV, you cannot schedule any recordings (must be done from the main unit) and if you have one (1) recording starting on the main unit...... you have to watch it or it will delete. HORRIBLE!!! Directv's whole home DVR service was amazing. I contacted customer service twice to clarify what I should be able to do with the remote unit. PAUSE LIVE TV? They say yes - just like the website. Tech said no on both visits. WATCH ANOTHER PROGRAM WHILE ONE (1) IS RECORDING? They say yes just like the website. Tech said no. I finally talked them into giving me two (2) separate DVRs so I don't have to deal with this crappy whole home thing. The tech says the remote unit does nothing and he's not sure why people get it since you're not saving much money from the cost of two (2) DVRs. They better watch out. I may cancel. All my Directv and CenturyLink stuff is still here and ready to ship back. I may have to get it back out. read more

Horrible customer service and technicians. I took off work to have them come install my internet. The tech never showed but said he called and rang my doorbell (which i don't even have). Also, he never called, but I did get the call that he should arrive and x time (machine operator) and another call asking if I was happy with my service (also a machine operator) within 30 minutes of each other. After wasting my time sitting around here waiting, I spent another hour trying to cancel the service with the customer rep who suggested rescheduling but didn't even have the courtesy of even suggesting that they would waive the $30 installation fee. I only went with Cincinnati Bell because TWC service was down more than it was up last time I had them, but at least they show up for installations. So, guess I'll be going back to TWC and praying the Internet doesn't drop in the middle of my conference call. read more

Had to cancel my installation. When I did they said they were having technical difficulties and the wait would be 4-5 minutes. Hung up and called back to try again. This time i was transferred twice. We had Cincinnati Bell for years but switched to Time Warner/Spectrum as we added devices to our network. The Spectrum service wasn't as consistent but it was consistently faster than Bell's which we needed as we added phones, computers, etc as my kids got older. When we received a flyer in the mail saying Cincinnati Bell's service had been upgraded in our area, we called to inquire and were told yes we would receive faster speeds. The tech came out and said that our speed was unchanged since we receive service from "the node" via copper wire. Although we were upset about the blatant lies from the sales person, we went ahead with the install. Bad move. Once COVID hit and we all had to video conference from home, the service became unusable. When I canceled, I was told I had to return all my equipment to the store under their normal timeframe without any regard to extending for the pandemic. I unhooked and returned all the equipment I had and was told at the store that I was all set. I should have compared my receipt to what was returned because I received a surprise in the form of a $192.88 bill for not returning all my equipment despite having returned every piece of equipment I have. I called to let them know, but they said unless I could prove I turned in the cable box they show wasn't turned in, I have to pay the balance or be turned over to a collection agency. How do I prove I don't have something that I don't have? Thanks Cincinnati Bell - must be nice to be in the position of having a duopoly so you can treat customers this way. read more

I'm unable to express my frustration with cincinnati bell. I have been highly inconvenienced and this has been by far the worst service provider I have ever encountered. From day 1 I always had problems with the TV box and it took 5 months before those guys could replace it. I hardly was able to watch TV. Post that I have been highly charged on my bills, contradictory to the reason I was pushed into leaving time warner, claiming that they would reduce my bill amount but no it was much higher. And then with all that frustration I decided to close my account and I had scheduled it to close out on march 9th but theyt one week earlier and made me wait all day for the assistant to come home to fix it. they made me stay at home all day without internet and the guy comes at 8pm to tell me that they cut it out early and the only way I can get back internet is to open a new account. I had to stay at home without wifi when I had an international travel coming up. And then I spend 2 hours hearing promises about not charging me for the month of march and guess what. While I'm traveling I see a bill of $88 , completely charging me for the month of march. I call them and they have no account of the previous discussions. It's a disgrace that they run their company so pathetically making life a living hell for people who take their services.I will need help spreading the word on what a worthless provider they are. I was way better off with time warner than getting conned by these ridiculous people. read more

Just got off the phone with CB Fioptics and as is typical it ended in frustration. They market themselves as a "hometown provider" but they are no different than any provider. To start with they refuse to help you if you don't give them your 13 digit account number. Interesting they can record your phone number for marketing reasons but not to ID you. Indicative of their technology I guess. So just like Spectrum they jack up your rate every year and cut back on service. So you have to go through the hassle of calling annually to fight not to get totally gouged after the introductory period. I just got through doing this to match competitors service; only one problem the speed promised does not match speed delivered. Then after 48 hours of troubleshooting on the phone and emailing diagnostics to their engineers, they want you to pay for a technician visit. They schedule a visit for 12-4 window and I get a call at 4:05 from the technician they are finishing up a job and are nearly an hour a way. Had a conflict so couldn't wait but they don't even bother to call to reschedule. When I call they won't address the issue because I don't have my 13 digit account number with me and they have no alternative method to verify. HOMETOWN? Really. Stay away. I will be looking to get best alternative service. read more

DON'T BUY INTO THE FAST INTERNET. If there was a way to give them a negative I would. I have had them for the last 3 months and the internet is out more then I get to use it. When you call you get someone that you can barely understand and then they ask you to go through the same steps every time. Then when that doesn't work they send out a tech that says nothing is wrong and leaves. When you ask if there is anything that they can do they say we can give you $20 off your $70 dollar bill even thought you have spent more time without internet then you have had it. I suggest this service to nobody (0 people anywhere ever). They are alright when we needed assistance with wifi or cable after a power outage; HOWEVER, I have attempted to cancel cable 10000000000000000000 times and each time I say "I'd like to cancel our cable services and keep internet," they respond with something like "so you'd like to increase your cable package?" Are you kidding? It also costs more to have 100 meg internet and no cable than it does to have a basic cable package and 100 meg internet, which is BS. After 2 years, I am THRILLED to be able to escape this hellhole some may call my Cincinnati Bell account. I have to pay an extra month upon cancellation ('standard procedure') and they don't come to pick up the equipment- you have to drive to the customer service-radiating Cincinnati Bell store and drop it all off. I probably sound like the fat lady holding up the Walmart customer service line, but I am ok with that and it is an appropriate situation-rather than my child's fidget spinner getting lost somewhere under in my body folds. I've send dozens of emails, Facebook messages, called, asked for several managers to return my calls which none have, gone to locations. Beyond Frustrating! Over the weekend I called to get pricing for 3 TVs on fioptics with whole home DVR and Premier channel lineup, keep my landline and upgrade internet to 500 mbps. I was quoted a monthly fee of 165.38. Seemed like a good deal so I scheduled installation for tomorrow, 9/6. Tonight I received a call to confirm the install and was told the monthly price would be 175/mo. When I stated the discrepancy I was essentially told I was lying and that price wasn't correct. I requested the install to be cancelled but she wouldn't do that and instead said she would transfer me to customer service. 40 minutes later still no answer from Customer Service so I called on another phone and only had to wait 20 minutes for someone to answer and went through the ordeal yet again only to be told several times to hold while they look something up. 15 minutes and another person later I was finally able to get the price I was quoted. I know Time Warner / Spectrum is just the same...if DirectTV offered internet I'd be long gone! read more

If your considering joining Cincy Bell I would think twice about it. I have been a customer of Cincy Bell for nearly two decades and will be having TWC/Spectrum installed in about 10 days. I will finally be free from the worst customer service experiences I have ever dealt with in the last two weeks of being a customer with Cincy Bell. When a company makes a guaranteed appointment time and doesn't show up, and then I call to inquire about said appointment time and they want to reschedule that appointment for 48 hours later. I say bull crap to this. Cincinnati Bell says they "Know the Nati". BS. Two days on the phone dealing with an internet issue for over 5 hours and a missed appointment time plus the sorry a$$ excuse you can't even squeeze me on the day you were supposed to be there has finally made me realize it's time to break our nearly 20 year marriage.. To top it off they send an email survey to see how my experience was... Just listen to your recordings with me for the last two days and you be able to answer that survey on your own. read more

We have been having a problem with our internet and land line everytime it rains for more than 10 years. I have disconnected our land line and have consistently called Cincinnati Bell. There response is to send a technician out - often weekly - who then puts a bandaid on the situation. We have old underground copper wires, Bell refuses to replace . We have 3 junction boxes on our lane that fill with water every time it rains.... One would think we could put in a french drain to allow water to escape the box. ???? Just talked to someone yet again who said just call us weekly and we will send someone out. Really !!! this is how you fix a problem. Customer service needs an upgrade. read more

I added Fioptics internet and tv and my phone service in December 2015. I was promised "up to 1Gps" with reassurance that it would be at least 500mps. The product was great at first, but regular internet drop offs and increasing "buffering" during movies prompted me to look into speed. Bottom line, I was paying for 1,000 mps, but I was typically getting between 200 and 300 with daily interruptions in internet. So....I called customer (dis) Service in December 2016. As background, my experience with the Cinti Bell field techs has been pretty good The last guy was very competent and knowledgeable. But, I never thought that I would utter these words...."Cinti Bell's Customer Service people are considerably worse than Time Warner (Spectrum). Time warner would send out a tech it you requested it. I thought that was baseline performance for a carrier....but no. In contrast, Cinti Bell stonewalled me until my TV service went out completely.....7 months to get a technician to come to my home. And I bought their top internet package! Clearly no sense of responsibility or gratitude on their part. They won't send out a technician unless you can "prove' that there is a "problem." In their view, the customer is the problem, becasue the customer doesn't know what he or she is talking about. Catch 22. You need a tech to make your case for you....but they won't send a tech. When I asked for a tech to come see why my speed was so slow, I was told that: 1) the testing stations on line were inaccurate. 2) Maybe your computer is too slow to measure up to 1 Gbs. In fact, all three of my computers have 1 Gbs.capability 3) Maybe your son can help you. (My son is an experienced software engineer for Microsoft. Ironically it was he who tested my computer and told me that "you are not getting anything near what you are paying for.) They stonewalled him as well. This line of dodging responsibility went on until I gave up in frustration. I had called and emailed. In response to emails....they said "we'll get back to you." That was blatantly false. Fast forward to July 2017. After months of frustrating, embarrassing and deteriorating TV and internet experience, my TV service went out altogether. The fine and caring people at Cinti Bell finally agreed to send a tech out. He quickly deduced that I had a bad modem, that had gotten progressively worse until it died completely. For the last month of its life I had to re-boot the modem daily...sometimes more than once. I can't recall ever being treated so poorly. I'm finally getting what I began paying for 18 months ago. read more

Can I give less than 1 star? I was quoted a "special introductory price" of about $65 a month for basic cable and internet (was receiving less than 60 channels and basic internet speed). Fast forward two months and I get a bill for $138. While calling for an explanation someone I couldn't understand only kept trying to sell MORE services to me. After 33 minutes I got to talk with a "specialist" who informed me my plan had been scrapped. I'm used to introductory prices ending after a year but this is my 3rd bill! I asked for a quote for just internet and they said it's normally $57 for 30mbps but they could give it to me for $47 a month. I said I would consider it if I could get a confirmation email that the price would last 12 months and they couldn't even do that! Unbelievable. Cable companies are notorious for this sort of thing but more than doubling a customer's bill after 3 months without any notification or explanation is downright criminal. Edit: To make matters worse, after cancelling my services through this company effective the 1st of August, I received a new bill for the entire month of August on the 3rd. Incredible read more
