This business scammed me by charging me for an unauthorized service and then demanded payment for work that I never gave the okay for. They also never asked me what the issue was that I was having and assumed very incorrectly about prior damage that had occurred more than a year prior. My computers worked perfectly after those spills because I was able to do a cleaning of them all those months ago. Their forced cleaning of my computers didn't resolve my issue at all because my actual issue was electrical issues we had been having in our home, and if they had asked me what problem I was having with them in the first place they would have known this and could have earned their money legitimately instead of scamming me for it. I ended up having to pay them $150 just to get my computers back with the same exact problem. The issue wasn't with them at all but was with the monitors. If they had spoken with me we could have figured this out before this unneeded cleaning service was forced upon me to pay for. I signed up for a free diagnostic and then he called to tell me I owe $69.99 per computer. What a scam! The front desk gentleman is very nice, but the actual repairman is a scammer. They also won't refund me the money! So now I have to buy new monitors which is more than $150 on top of the forced cleaning fees! Unbelievable! This is shady business and they shouldn't be allowed to keep scamming people. At first I gave him the benefit of the doubt and thought this was only a misunderstanding, I reached out very kindly to explain all of this and ask for my money back. I accidentally damaged my phone screen and needed to get it fixed. The guy working at ProTechs was super nice and reliable. It only took about an hour to completely replace my damaged phone screen, and everything works perfectly! The price was very reasonable. Overall I'm happy with the customer service and quick repair of my phone. If I ever damage my phone or run into other issues with technology I will 100% go to ProTechs again. Who knew that I'd find better tech service in Ohio than in the Silicon Valley?! ProTechs has fantastic service and totally reasonable prices. I took my macbook air with a broken charger port to a place in SF where they kept it for 3(!) weeks, jiggled it around until it temporarily worked, and told me it would be upwards of $250 to completely replace the port. No surprise - it broke again within a few weeks. ProTechs repaired the port in 30 minutes while I waited, replacing it entirely for $89. They were super friendly, and the waiting area has free WiFi. Street parking really shouldn't be an issue here unless you aren't used to leaving the suburbs (so much confusion at the review that complains about "sprinting across Central Parkway." I needed a Mac power charger for about five minutes to get a file off my computer for work, and I wasn't anywhere near my own power charger or an Apple store. I went in to get my screen fixed. The guys were nice and got it done pretty quick and the price was definitely lower than I was expecting. BUT then I got home and my phone wouldn't charge. When I called to let them know they were very rude and said fixing the screen shouldn't effect the battery. Which it shouldn't have and that was the problem. I went in the next day and he charged me $20 to fix my battery. Now everything is fine but I'm not sure if I'd spend anymore money there. read more

I had two laptop computers, both a mess with viruses and malware issues. I asked a friend at church and he said his wife (who works in the corporate computer industry) recommends these guys. WARNING! This is not a Corporate environment where a lot of money is spent making the front office look impressive! So, don't go in with that expectation. But, there is a vibe on Central Parkway that new start-ups are opening for business, and Pro Techs is right in the thick of it. Their location is centrally located and easy to find (it is 9 minutes from my Northern KY home). Cleo and his staff are knowledgeable, as they all bring years of experience, not only servicing computers, but working in the changing PC industry throughout the region. Ask them about their background, as they have been doing this awhile. They will get your PC fixed quickly, and are available to answer your questions repeatedly to get you up and running. There are not a bunch of layers of people to speak to, so that your computer gets lost for a week or more. They beat the big box store tech departments because they work at solving your specific problem. They are not into offering the special of the month whether it applies to your PC or not. If you want your PC or Mac, or dropped Iphone repaired, this is the place to get it done! read more

I had to run my laptop down there after picking up one of those pesky viruses, bleh. Prior to taking it in they told me what it would cost, and I was pleasantly surprised. It actually was less, very friendly , and professional . Beware of hidden fees, I checked their website before taking my PS4 in to have the HDMI port replaced. I knew before even stepping foot in the store this was the problem, I took it into the shop explained what I had seen, my PS4 would boot up, there would be a signal sent to the tv showing it was trying to read, then I had no signal. After looking at the HDMI port with a flashlight, I could see it was damaged. I took it in and explained all of this to the person at the counter. They told me the repair would be $129, not too concerned about it but I mentioned that on the website it said that HDMI replacement was $119 they looked it up and honored the price. I was quoted it would be 7-10 business days for it to be repaired, After not hearing anything from them after 10 business days, I contacted them on day 11 and was told the tech would call me back when they returned from lunch. After about 2 1/2 hours of waiting for the return call I got the call back that it was ready to go. I picked it up the next day to find out they were charging me a total of over $160 for a $119 repair because they still charged me for diagnostics even though I told them exactly what was wrong with it when I stepped into the office. At the end of the day I have my PS4 back but if I knew they were going to try to bleed me dry I defiantly would have gone elsewhere. Oh and on a side note, I build my own PCs, so I am very familiar with tech, just not so great with soldering. That's literally the only reason I took it to them, so If they're willing to screw over someone who actually knows what they're doing, I would never recommend this place to someone who has a mid to low understanding of tech. I took my Macbook here to have a cracked screen replaced. I was told that the new screen would require that the entire top panel be replaced. It was going to be replaced with a used screen, so I was told there may be some scratches on the top of the case, but everything else should be fine. I waited several weeks without receiving a phone call. I then called them to see if it was ready. It was ready, apparently, they just hadn't called me. I went to pick it up and noticed that the "new" screen had dead pixels everywhere. It also has a broken camera. I asked that they replace it. At first, I was told that they wouldn't do this. Then they told me they would, but that they would need to order the new screen, so I should just hold on to my computer until the new part came in. I went home and waited a week. No call. I called several times, at one point speaking to the owner, Cleo who told me the part was on its way. After calling every week for a couple months and not receiving any callbacks, I gave up. I tried to cancel it via my credit card but it didn't work, so I'm out $300 and I now have faulty screen and a broken camera that still needs to be fixed. read more

My 5 year old Macbook Air had several faulty keys and a malfunctioning trackpad. Protechs diagnosed the problem (water damage) and replaced both my keyboard and trackpad for a total $170, which included a 6 month warranty. I thought the price was very reasonable and my laptop works good as new! They were also quite friendly and had a professional demeanor. The turnaround time was 5 weeks, but I was told up front the repair time would be a few weeks due to an increase in their workload during the pandemic, and I did not opt for expedited repair. Cleo from PROTECHS thoroughly inspected my 65' curved Samsung and diagnosed its issues. It was damaged from an overseas shipment, and sustained internal damage that was not repairable. PROTECHS wrote up a comprehensive diagnostics report that I submitted to the insurance/shipping company for reimbursement; they did not want to reimburse me the market value of the TV, and disputed the value with PROTECHS. Cleo explained to them the difference between a lower grade flat model versus the upper grade curved model that I had. If Cleo hadn't explained the technical differences to the shipping company, I would have been reimbursed only half the value of the TV that I paid for. Cleo had extra time during his inspection (I paid for an hour of labor), so he even went the extra mile and quickly diagnosed and fixed my oven range, which was mysteriously turning itself on and off. Count me as another fan of ProTechs. When my husband's 10-year-old desktop finally bit the dust, I searched for someplace closer to us than MicroCenter who would be able to help. Wow I am a dumby! Not a complete dumby, but a dumb nonetheless. Why do I say this about myself? I believed in the kid at the Geek Squad booth. Over a year ago, my laptop decided to all of the sudden turn off and I went to Geek Squad to figure out why. The kid told me that it is probably a memory board surge and it will cost over $500 to fix it. He even asked if I wanted them to take it to recycle. So glad I didn't! i kept it to take it to another place for another opinion. See.... not a complete dumby. It only took me a year to finally get that opinion, though. Anyway... I saw this repair biz on yelp and saw great reviews so I thought I would give them a try. They actually do free diagnostics on laptops anytime, you don't need to check in to get that deal.It's only for TVs. Well, Tim was very helpful with my computer and seemed intrigue with it since he has never seen one like mine. ha ha Kind of made me nervous but he reassured me everything will be ok and will give me a call once they know what is going on. That day came the next day! Not a few days, not a week or two, THE NEXT DAY!! I was surprised to hear back so soon and heard some awesome news. My computer just had a fried chip and can be replaced that very day! REALLY??? That's it? lol I was excited, relieved, and then mad because I almost listened to that kid!!! whew! Another awesome thing was that the part was cheap!! Man, these guys are awesome! If my TV or computer ever goes bad or one of my friends do, I am going here! I am using it as I write. Don't bother with these guys, find a better repair shop... You ever take your car in for repair and they tell you it's one thing then that's repaired and they tell you it's another issue that's gonna cost you more for the complete repair? Information they knew when they found the first problem but chose not to tell you until later?? That plus poor communication and poor customer service is why I will never be back and recommend you staying away as well. I had both my monitor and iPhone "repaired", monitor still isn't fixed to satisfactory and I was told I was "just being picky" for wanting quality work done (the glass on my monitor wasn't seated correctly after their repair, glass sticking past the frame so it wasn't flush with the edge) and while the front glass on my iPhone is no longer broken, force touch no longer works properly. I regrets everything about my experience here, the worse communication ever. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for your repair needs. Update: And just like that after a few short weeks my iPhone screen repaired by these guys is dead. And I know it's the screen for sure because the phone still works, calls come in, it vibrates when put on silent, literally just a dead faulty blank screen. No longer in the area so now I'm dealing with Apple... As I said before, save yourself the hassle and money and find a better shop for your repair needs. read more

I've used these guys twice. All around, they're nice and provide good services. It's been a catch 22 though. The first time I used them, my phone not only had a cracked and completely broken screen, but a cracked motherboard too. I wasn't aware of the damage to the motherboard until afterwards. They were nice enough to rig something up so that I could get by with no additional charge, along with completely replacing the screen. The second time, however was somewhat difficult. I had a cracked screen and they repaired it. Upon pick-up, I guess there was some sort of miscommunication, because the repair technician was under the impression that my phone didn't come in with a SIM card, SD Card or card tray. They were able to retrieve all three pieces. I also noticed that my phone's microphone no longer works. I'm guessing the ribbon isn't connected to the motherboard or it was left out by mistake. I understand that these do happen when working with electronics, but when I'm paying $200, I do expect things like that to not happen. While I do appreciate their work, I'll be doing that fix on my own. If you aren't mechanically inclined, I do recommend them, as they do good and timely work and provide explanations on what the issues might be. However, if you took my route and just didn't feel like dealing with heat guns and small parts and wanted someone else to fix it -- just go ahead and do it yourself. read more

This place is the best and was a lifesaver for me and our company when in a bind. We found them on Yelp when in OH for a convention and our laptop stopped working. They we super nice and efficient. They checked over our laptop and quickly determined we needed a part which needed to be ordered. They then offered to rent us a computer for 3 days of our convention at a very reasonable price. They also offered it to us for sale if we wanted to keep it at the end of the 3 days and they would just charge our card the difference. It was such a great deal on the price of the computer that we bought it from them. They did not charge us a diagnostic fee to look at our computer either. My 9 year old daughter cracked the screen on her ipod touch 5th gen, but it still worked perfectly. We decided to have screen replaced at Pro Techs. I called and was told it would take a day or two to get parts and a day or two for repairs. After 4 days, I called for an update. I was told they still hadn't gotten the new parts in, but they would call me in a couple days. I didn't get any calls and had to call again. The part came in, was installed, but the ipod wouldn't power up. They ordered another new screen and would call me in a couple days. Guess what? Never got a call. I called again. The 2nd set of parts still hadn't come it, but I was never updated. After a week, I called back. The part came in, and was installed, but the ipod still wouldn't power up. They never called at all to give any updates. They were supposed to have an "ipod guy" take a look at it and "get back to me". Keep in mind, all the while, I'm telling my 9 year old that her ipod will be back, good as new in a couple days. After I never got an update from ProTechs, I called back in a few days. I was told there was nothing they could do and that the ipod was "shot". They said I could come and pick it up. Now keep in mind, when I brought it in, it still worked perfectly. The only problem was a cracked screen. Of course, I was given a bunch of excuses as to why it didn't work. I'm sure all were just for CYA. The thing that pissed me off most was the complete lack of communication and customer service that was provided. I will never go to or recommend ProTechs ever again. read more
