Long story short, their was a delay in completing the job. Wrong color of fence arrived, deck finished late in the summer and I decided to wait until spring of 2020. As soon as we were allowed out of quarantine I called Tholens in Kankakee to get a completed estimate and arrange for work to begin. I stopped by to speak with Steve, a gentleman went to get him and 30 minutes later, I am still waiting and no Steve. Even the girl at the counter seemed clueless but didn't offer to remind him I was waiting. I called for an appointment and was told I didn't need one, he was there 6 days a week. So I dropped by as suggested and spoke to his wife, went through the plans and discussed color. Steve was to return my call with the estimate. Didn't hear from him and called the following Monday. Still no estimate (even though the design was complete dimensions and all). I have done similar estimates, just sit down for 30 minutes with a pencil and calculator. I was told they were very busy, I asked should I call the following Monday(week later) and was told yes. I called 3 more times and was pretty much ghosted. I feel like they were trying to humiliate me, because that's how I feel. I don't need to be told yes, I just want the truth. A good business design: don't tell people you are too busy it's insulting. call back so they can move on, let the customers know you can't do the work this season or ever for that matter and you won't get a bad review on yelp. ps....this was a significant job

I began working with Hansen's shortly after the company came under new ownership in April 2025, and unfortunately, my experience has been nothing short of disastrous. What should have been an exciting, high-end drapery project quickly turned into months of repeated errors, mismanagement, and ultimately, broken trust. Here are just a few of the issues I encountered: * Repeated mistakes in estimates: Incorrect ring counts, wrong finishes, wrong hardware colors, and even a nearly 3-inch measurement error that would have ruined the finished drapes. I repeatedly had to catch these mistakes myself and go directly to the manufacturer to confirm details. * Lack of accountability: Instead of taking responsibility, the designer consistently guessed at specifications, leaving me to act as project manager to prevent costly errors. * Pricing games: When ownership finally stepped in, they presented me with new "corrected" estimates -- but nearly every item had mysteriously gone up in price compared to earlier quotes. The supposed 10% "discount" they offered me was effectively wiped out by those upcharges, which felt deceptive and insulting. * Bronze Age surcharge: Despite written documentation from the manufacturer showing my finish choice was valid through early August with no surcharge, Hansen's tried to force nearly an $800 "custom finish" fee on me. Even after I provided proof of my April and July commitments, ownership refused to honor it. At the end of the day, Hansen's proved themselves to be dishonest, unethical, and more concerned with the bottom line than with integrity or customer trust. The only reason this project didn't go completely off the rails is because I was diligent enough to catch their errors -- errors that could have cost both me and Hansen's thousands of dollars. I gave Hansen's every chance to make this right. Instead, they doubled down and left me no choice but to walk away. After this experience, I cannot recommend Hansen's to anyone seeking high-end custom work. If you value honesty, accuracy, and professionalism, look elsewhere.

They did the job, and we put them in place. Since we don't use the love seat often, it was several weeks later when we realized that two of the cushions were not quite as firm as the other one. I felt bad waiting so long and felt I was making a big deal about it. They didn't see it that way. They redid all three cushions and had them ready the next day. They are perfect. They are worthy of their good reputation.
