There truly aren't enough words to express how grateful we are to the team at Cinema Veterinary Center. They saved our dog's life, and we will never forget it. While we were traveling, our 6-pound Maltese suffered a severe anaphylactic reaction after a bee sting. Within minutes he was vomiting, had lost control of his bowels, was breathing rapidly, became weak and disoriented, and looked like he was slipping away. It was one of the most terrifying experiences our family has ever faced. The moment we arrived, panicked and desperate, although they are not an emergency clinic, they helped us. After the Dr. said he could see our dog, everyone acted immediately. Our dog was taken back without time wasted, and the entire team worked quickly while keeping us informed every step of the way. Dr. Moran was calm, compassionate, incredibly knowledgeable, and took the time to explain everything clearly. His confidence and expertise gave us hope when we needed it most. The veterinary nurses and staff were wonderful--kind, attentive, and excellent at communicating throughout the entire process. The front desk team was equally amazing, showing genuine compassion and making an incredibly stressful situation a little easier. The care didn't end when we left the office. Receiving a personal phone call a few days later to check on our little guy and make sure he was continuing to recover meant so much to our family. That level of kindness and dedication is something you rarely experience, and it speaks volumes about how much they truly care about their patients. Because of the incredible care we received, our beloved dog is still with us today. I would give this place zero stars if I could! I thought this place would be a good option given the positive reviews but when I walked into the office it was anything but. For starters, when the vet tech asked me to place my dog on the scale I noticed that there was a huge puddle of urine on it. Yuck! I asked her to clean it up before I'd place my dog on that scale. That's beyond unsanitary! Then when we got to the exam room, that also looked unsanitary! The mat on the exam table had what looked like dried urine stains and nothing smelled clean or sanitized. Really gross and now I'm worried that my dog could have been exposed to something since it's likely nothing in that exam room had been cleaned. I should have left right then and there, and wish I had because things didn't get any better. The vet took forever to come into the room. I was only there to get my dog vaccine boosters but felt they were trying to evaluate and look for random diagnosis. They also were pushy about heart worm testing and charged an arm and a leg for core vaccines. Much more than any place I've ever been. It felt very scammy. And when checking out and paying the hefty bill the receptionists weren't very friendly. Honestly, the whole place just had a bad vibe. I wish I never took my pet here. I don't plan on bringing my pet here ever again and I feel very upset that I trusted bringing her here in the first place. I can't understand how anyone gives this place a positive review. We still love and appreciate Cinema after 6 years with them. The positivity from my last review holds strong. Cinema continues to be great with our pets (and us). Between our four pets we see both Dr. Ronchetto and Dr. Wheelbarger. Both are very informative while being very patient and gentle with our dogs and cats. I never feel like visits are rushed. They are great about giving clear recommendations, but also sharing options. I've never felt pressured in decision making, just supported. We've never had an assistant/tech our pets didn't like, but special shout out to Alison and Caitlyn for always taking extra care and time with our very anxious pup. Just some FYI's, Cinema has you wait in your car and techs will escort you in with your pet for visits with the doctors. I personally really prefer this, it's less stressful all around than sitting in a waiting room with other animals. When it's a tech visit, a tech will usually just pick up your pet and then bring them right back. Also, they are popular, so routine appointments can book out a couple weeks at times. They have always been really good about getting us in for anything urgent though. Sherri and Aisha at the front desk are organized and always helpful. read more

We were clients of Dr. Ronchetto with our dog who passed away years ago. During this visit, we received care from Dr. Villarreal and her staff (including Katelyn, Kristin, Alex, Sherry and Angel). The staff is professional and efficient. Sadly, we received some devastating news about the health of our pet and had to say good bye to her. Cinema Vet walked beside us with so much kindness and compassion. They were absolutely amazing in the way they helped us say good bye to our precious cat. They only knew our pet for 48 hours, but did everything they could to support our family. We cannot recommend them enough. read more

Make sure you don't come to this vet when you actually need help. I called them for assistance of one my dogs since I'm out on vacation, and asked for advice and something to stop my dog from throwing up. My pet sitter wasn't going to be able to take them to a vet until the next day and it's Friday so I asked for something to help my Pup stop throwing up until I could get home but refused to help since the newest doctor there that replaced Dr. Ronchetto has never met brilla, she can't provide anything to help her with her nausea until I could get home. I specifically asked if Dr, Ronchetto had been there and since she had provided care to my dog before then she'd be able to at least have something to give my pup to stop the nausea until I could get home and they said yes. But since it's a new doctor now their hands are tired. It's very unfortunate that due to their staffing changes, my pups care is now compromised. I'm very disappointed in this clinic and now know I cannot trust them in their care. I was really hoping that they would be able to help my pup while I could get home as I've been taking my 3 dogs to them for the last few years but no all they can say is "good luck" with her. I don't recommend this vet and neither should anyone especially when you're away from home in some way. read more

After trying two other vet offices in SCV, I FINALLY feel like my lil pup's problems are not just being attended to immediately, but also in the long run. Our dog has been having tummy flare ups on and off for almost two years, with no long-term plan for quite sometime. I explained our situation of previous vet visits and lack of treatment/long term care and I can tell both the assistant (I think her name is Cate) and the vet Dr. Hancock really LISTENED. Both were so kind and helpful -- Dr. Hancock even calls her patients "kids" and I absolutely love it. We actually have a diagnosis for the first time of this going on. Previous vets have told us "he's just stressed" and send us home because it's "not that bad." Today we agreed on a path to solve his problem ASAP and talked about preventatives, what to do when it happens again, and if it doesn't get better, some next steps down the road. She reassured my very stressed feelings but also explained how his issue isn't anywhere near what it could be (ultrasounds, scopes, etc.) -- so nice to hear from a professional that what I'm imagining as the worst case scenario is not happening, and even though his issue isn't an emergency, I could tell she wanted him to get better urgently and that it is an issue that needs to be solved. The meds they gave me were for two weeks but they helped me get the prescription for a year if we need it. There was no judgement, no pushing treatments or meds that weren't necessary at the moment. Just professionalism and kindness. My dog was anxious and loud the entire time and they were SO accommodating to him. The rooms are very clean! There is no waiting room and you just call in when you arrive; they come and grab you when a room is available--I prefer this method SO much since I know my dog would just go nuts seeing other animals. I thought it was all very reasonably priced -- especially after recently spending nearly a thousand at another office for care that made him worse. I hope we don't have to go back in anytime soon but if we do, I know he'll be treated so well. We're going to bring our sweet kitty here now as well. Thank you, Cinema!!! read more

This post is long overdue! I don't often leave Yelp reviews but these ladies are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I'm just so sorry it took me so long to take the time to write a review. I have been coming to Cinema Veterinary Centre since Dr. Ronchetto opened in 2012. I followed her from Happy Vets. Quite simply I have always received the very best care from her and her amazing staff. Over the past 10 years we have had many visits for many pets from dogs, cats and Guinea pigs and we have always received top notch care! I have also seen Dr. Wheelbarger and she's equally knowledgeable and wonderful. I have cried with these ladies after the loss of very elderly pets and laughed together when I ask to pick their brains about animal care. I truly love all the ladies in this practice. My review wouldn't be complete without a shout out to Krysti & Sherri. These ladies are always so kind and caring. Over the years I have been lucky enough to deal with them and they are always so helpful. I believe the Doctors that run this practice make sure they employ the very best kind of people who care and love animals. This review is long overdue and has sat in my drafts for a year as we put our sweet boy down last year and finishing this was too hard. Cinema Vet provided excellent care and compassion for Cooper and our family through the entire process. After Cooper's passing the team sent a very kind card and the office donates a tree in your pet's memory. We were so touched by the gesture and it brought comfort in a very difficult time. We have been taking our sweet boy Cooper here for a few years now and have been very pleased with every aspect. The staff has always been so sweet and helpful, and Dr. Ronchetto is great. We never feel rushed or pressured into expensive unnecessary treatments, Dr. Ronchetto's direction is compassionate while still being pragmatic. Yes, they're busy, but they're busy for a reason. Cinema is by far the best vet we've found in LA. Dr. Ronchetto and Dr. Wheelbarger are kind, compassionate, very knowledgeable, and listen when you express concerns or wishes for your pet. They understood that my dog had lived a long life and had been through a lot. They tried everything they could to keep our little pup healthy and comfortable without subjecting her to endless invasive tests or procedures, which was appreciated because we didn't think she could handle those things at this point in her life. Their staff has always been very friendly and accommodating. At the end, our dog was on a rotation of seven medications, and they were wonderful about making sure that she had enough. When it came time to say goodbye to our dog, Dr. Wheelbarger took the time to commiserate and listen to our concerns, as did Dr. Ronchetto, who, along with Alison (tech), provided a supportive and caring environment for Coop's last moments. This is the first time we've been to this veterinarian and I must say we are totally impressed! Our cats stayed calm for the entire visit which they have NEVER done at vet! Kristi (the doctors assistant) has great animal skills and you can tell she loves her job! The vet we had was Jaime Ronchettto and her people and animal skills are a 10! Astronomical prescription prices. I get it that COVID has made things difficult, but I'm really starting to wonder about Cinema Vet. We take both our dogs in at the same time, or we did. The practice now insists that our older dog doesn't need his yearly exam until the fall. OK, he's young an healthy, he'll be fine, except we now have to divide the heartworm pills between them (same prescription). Not the end of the world, but two vet check trips instead of one. At the time of the one's appointment we paid the "prescription fee" for the heartworm meds. I always though it disingenuous to pay a fee for a prescription, why would this not be part of any medical exam. Our fault, we lost the paper prescription. So I called to order the pills from Cinema. I figured, support local business. I was shocked today when I picked up a year's supply of heartworm pills for the one (to get us through 6 months for the two) and was charged $181. Frankly, I feel ripped off. Trying to support local business, sure, but this is three times the price of going to Costco or Sam's club. I won't get fooled again. read more

I give this vet a zero and this is why. I went to her for the 1st time and was clear I was looking for a good vet in this area and still haven't found one. I brought both my boxers in for exams and my Buddy had a growth - MCT by his arm pit. They took his blood and never said anything to me about how bad it was nor did they call to go over it. They wanted to remove the mass but I thought about it and I use Tagemrnt and Benedryl for MCT and it always dissolves them plus works on the insides. Meanwhile, I was focusing on that and still never heard about his blood work and I called. They sent me the file and I looked at it and saw red red red - high high high low low and I got very concerned and worried , I called her and I ASKED her " What is wrong with my dog" the DR said " I DONT KNOW, let's get rid of the mass and go from there !! SO THATS WHAT I DID'!! Months went by without thinking anything else could be wrong with him and how wrong I was! She thought it was cushings, or the mass, or ...and never told me when I clearly asked OR even suggested we should do further testing etc He wound up getting very sick 1st week of March and was scrambling at vets for 3 weeks. He fell over in my backyard and died 1 hour later!!!! Every vet that looked at his blood panel said" that's his liver" and definitely says I had a horrible experience and she should of absolutely of ordered testing, ultrasound and gotten to the bottom of it . Especially since she knew I was treating my dog myself . Just ignoring him is what happened and he suffered !!!! I'm beyond devastated and PISSED because I took him to find a good doctor to help him in his senior years !!! He was 10 and died 11. Not at all what he deserved or what I went there for !! I really wanted to like this place. Some of the staff is very kind and caring. However, this place is not only overpriced, but ineffective. I would pay the ridiculous prices if the treatments worked, but they don't. I have two dogs I have brought in since about May (6-7 months). One of my dogs is highly prone to ear infections. My vets in the past have treated him with no problems. After 3 cycles of treatments, hundreds spent on visits, he still had a severe ear infection. None of the treatments worked and they had me redo his labs multiple times which cost hundreds. Their next recommendation was to do more labs to determine allergies (something we have already done before and have changed his diet accordingly). Not only that, but they could not find any of my vet records for my second dog even though we have multiple emails sent of his records. If my husband wasn't proactive about making sure my second dog's shots were up to date, he would have missed several vaccines. Missing these types of shots can lead to severe illness and death. The fact that cinema vet didn't follow up several of our calls and visits is ridiculous considering they have charged us well over 2-3x what other vets charge. I will never subject any animal to this type of care. I switched vets and within 3 days of a treatment my poor dog's ear is already looking great! My other dog has all his shots up to date as well. Overall, we paid less than HALF the price for both dogs at the new vet, than we did for one dog at cinema vet. I deeply regret ever coming here! read more

Such a horrible experience here. The techs are really really great but after you get in there ands meet with the veterinarians its not that great. I took my dog in for an ear infection and they wanted to charge me over $150 because he had to scrape something out of the ear and put it in the microscope. Thankfully, I didn't fall for that and just asked for the medication that cost around $25. I put drops in my dogs ear twice a day and look it magically worked (insert eye roll) He was better in 2 days. each time I go in there I can't walk out for less than $150 this place really nickels and dimes. You be very very careful if you come here. What's more disappointing as my dog was misdiagnosed sitting area conjunctivitis ended up giving him drops for two weeks just to come to find out that he's still have the same problems. The vet asked what I thought it was and I said allergies and then she's gonna say oh yeah that's what I think too and then send them home with drops. Come on I'm paying every time I come in there just to get it exam and you're asking me what's wrong with my dog?? What was the icing on the cake for me was that I was not told that I was going to be charged a cancellation fee and when I went to go check out they try to smack me with a $30 cancellation fee. I didn't have the funds to pay for that and the medication so I had to put the medication for my dog back and they were gonna let me walk out the door with that solution. Not until I got really upset and stated that I was going to leave a negative review did they say OK well waive it for you!!! how horrible they lost two pets and I will never ever recommend them. The best bird care! We first found Dr. Wheelbarger when our nanday conure suddenly started plucking, largely due to hormone issues. Because of the gentle care and expert insights we received, she was better able to thrive until an illness took her in her senior years. Thanks to all we learned about parrot care, we decided to adopt another. We've since taken our rescued green cheek conure to Dr. Wheelbarger and have had equally wonderful experiences. She and her whole team (techs and front desk staff) are compassionate, professional, knowledgable and helpful. I called 14 local veterinarians today because we woke to find my daughter's hamster in obvious distress. As a pet owner, I feel it is my duty to keep a pet from undue suffering and pain, whether it be a horse or hamster. The vast majority of vets I called wouldn't even see a hamster, and the three I found that treat "pocket pets" either weren't taking new "exotic" clients or were booked out for six weeks. I was getting worried, thinking we'd have to watch Autumn continue to suffer, maybe for weeks, if we couldn't get an appointment anywhere. Even though Cinema was booked when I called in the morning, they had a spot open up and actually called me back that afternoon. They treated our sweet, tiny hammie with care, and walked us through several reasonable options. I am so relieved she was able to experience pain-free euthanasia with a caring vet rather than suffer a slow death from cancer. The receptionist, tech, and vet I interacted with were all incredibly compassionate and thorough on the phone, and the COVID precautions were excellent! I felt very safe, and I knew our pet was in capable, caring hands. Ultimately, I am so happy to have found a compassionate vet willing to give serious care to even the tiniest furry friends. "Pocket pets" are pets, too! I will now be bringing my dogs and cats here for future visits. Pricing was also fair, lower than I'd been quoted from another office that same day. read more

It is difficult to find a vet who is knowledgeable/experienced with hamsters, and provides education/advocacy for proper hamster care. We went in for a routine/first check up with dr. Ronchetto. She was pleasant, and professional, and was able to provide a good basic check-up on our dwarf hamster (we were unable to be present in the examination room due to Covid precautions). However, I was really disappointed when she complimented us on the beautiful home we had for our dwarf hamster- which was a tiny crittertrail (168 measly sq. inches, with 3 in. bedding and 1 hide) that we were using purely for her travel carrier (we've since also gotten a better carrier). I do not want to put my trust in a vet who is praising for below-standard care. We were newer hamster owners at the time, and asked other standard care questions, and were dissatisfied by her answers (our dwarf hamster's species was "dwarf hamster", as well as recommendations for sugary or nutrient-limited food.). I believe she is probably a wonderful vet to other animals, and am speaking only from the perspective of a hamster owner. read more

My dog had a bad cough so they made sure to keep him away from other dogs and disinfected thoroughly to protect other animals. Alex was my tech, she was awesome and very thorough. My pup was having some issues, and we are new to the area, so when we turned to Yelp for recommendations, we saw that this veterinary center is highly-rated, so we made an appointment. Dr. Ronchetto was very kind, and very thorough on both of our appointments to the Centre. The vet techs and vet is very nice. However, what's the point of having an appointment system if the entire ordeal is going to take a minimum of 1-2 hours? We took both of our dogs for ear infections. First appointments take awhile and we had no issue with that. I do take issue with the fact that subsequent follow ups take just as long or longer. They are always running behind and always frazzled. Appointment is at 5pm? Prepare to be there until at least 6:30pm. It's a joke. Also, forget it if your dog gets sick. One of your dogs had an upset tummy and they said they don't have any appointments for two weeks. We ended up taking her to Little Paws and it was SO much better and faster. Less expensive for better service. Work on efficiency. read more

Update 2 - Thank you for verifying that you have seen Vinny over the course several years, and not once did any of your staff notice he may be diabetic. I mentioned his aggression and weight concerns at EVERY APPOINTMENT. I have now received Vinny's records from you, and he was seen at Cinema Vet - 11 different times. Not sure why you only mentioned 3 visits! You recommended overpriced bloodwork for surgery to remove his teeth - after Dr Hancock did not even look in his mouth for more than one second, to actually examine his teeth properly. Dr Hancock never mentioned performing bloodwork to check for diabetes. Dr Hancock did not think there may be any other possibility of what was wrong - just recommended a completely unnecessary major surgery. After that appointment, obviously I did not continue care here - and had him seen & treated elsewhere as stated in my original review. I most definitely did call back, I see you are trying to save yourself here by lying, but I did call back multiple times, and finally spoke with Dr Jaimie Ronchetto on the phone with my concerns. She recommended I come back and pay for another visit even though I had already paid for Vinny to be seen, and now I see he was clearly misdiagnosed. I had a second opinion to see his teeth & was told none need to be removed, he still currently has them all. So continue to argue if you'd like, however the fact of the matter is, your veterinarians and staff are incompetent if you can't see your staff misdiagnosed my pet, and almost had him undergo an unnecessary major surgery. Since you seem to have had no issue finding my information & posting each year Vinny was seen, you most definitely have my phone number! Please feel free to call me if you'd like to discuss further, as it's not a good look as a business to continuously argue under a 1 star review after publicly verifying you in fact did see my dog for years. Update - Jaimie, in response to your comment - I would be happy to provide more information. I do not have my full name on yelp for privacy - my dog's name is Vinny, he is a chihuahua terrier mix. We saw you for years - as soon as I adopted him from Castaic Shelter. He was very small as a puppy and clearly started becoming very bloated - not a normal "overweight problem" along with my concerns of aggression. I then took him to see Dr Hancock which I already called you to complain about after that appointment, we left each other voicemails regarding this. Vinny was seen by 2-3 different veterinarians here, and not one could figure out the idea to test for diabetes. Dr Hancock provided the worst experience, suggesting to remove many of his teeth without even looking inside of his mouth. He had untreated diabetes for years and he is perfectly fine now that I take him elsewhere. Thank goodness I did not take any of your advice! I used to take my dog to Cinema Animal Hospital for years, his entire life actually - but I regret every visit. It's evident that their primary concern is money, not the well-being of the pets they are supposed to care for. My dog has had untreated diabetes his entire life, and despite numerous visits, they never once thought to test for it. He was very obviously "overweight" however, that was not actual weight he had to lose, it was bloating from untreated diabetes. Along with my complaints of aggression, he never actually was aggressive - he was in PAIN. For years, this was mentioned at every visit. Finally, we saw Dr. Laura at Saugus Animal Hospital. She took one look at my dog, and recommend testing. Sure enough, my dog has been on insulin ever since. He is no longer bloated, and no longer "aggressive" in any way. He is a completely different dog now, and able to enjoy his life.. finally. The negligence of Cinema Animal Hospital led to my dog suffering needlessly for years. Additionally, they failed to address other issues my dog was facing. Given that he was appearing "aggressive" - Instead of proper diagnosis and treatment, they suggested drastic measures such as removing most of his teeth without even examining his mouth thoroughly.
