No good. My mom and dad were there last month to put their 17 year old Maltese to sleep. They gave him the first shot which was supposed to sedate him but did not. Slugger began screaming, making sounds never heard before and LOUD while extending one of his back leg's out in a contorted manner, apparently going into convulsions. My mom began crying and yelled for the doctor. "What is happening...I didn't want him to suffer, please----". When asked what was given to Slugger to relax him before euthanizing him, the assistant said, "I don't know. I haven't seen his chart." Euthanizing your pet is painful on its own, but after experiencing what my parents have compels me to warn other people about euthanizing their pet and to ask questions. I have read other yep reviews and, after doing so, it appears that this vet may use other concoctions for euthanization purposes because he "runs out of medications." We got our 2 babies spayed and neutered here. I have mixed feelings but overall it was a very pleasant experience and they performed a good surgery. The front desk ladies were so kind during check in, they also were amazing and quick with getting meds for our little boy who got a slight UTI after Surgery. They were very quick to help and we are very grateful to them. We were hoping to have to pay several hundred dollars at another vet just to get him uti meds...now onto the good and bad The good! -Nurses up front and during initial exam were so kind and friendly. Really tried to make me feel better since I was clearly so nervous -Making an appt was easy -They called immediately after surgery to let us know they were out of surgery and did great -Very clean incision on our female, stitches were on the inside and they used medical glue to close the outside so minimal scarring or stitches for her to pick at -Initial price was affordable....but then they don't tell you about all the add ons when you arrive...that brings me to the slightly bad ....... -We paid half at the time of appt and the rest at service. However they don't tell you about the add ons that are honestly pretty necessary.....(each dog) Hydration/IV $85 + Blood Work $90. So at the end of it all, we ended up paying much more than expected ($800+ for 2 dogs) but it is what it is for needed services. -Dr. Cisneros wasnt AS friendly as I would have hoped being he works with animals. He didn't really try and socialize or introduce himself to them before he started poking and proding the babies. Wasnt any calming talk just kind of got in and out, which idk, this is their first procedure and he wasn't trying to put ANY of us at ease. Lol -Lastly, the facility waiting & exam rooms need some LOVE and updating. A little outdated & felt a bit dingy and dirty. All in all, they did a great procedure. Our babies have bounced back very quickly and had minimal down time. So they definetly performed a great procedure, and took care of our little ones. I was looking for an established vet for our little boston terrier, Dumpling. VIP checked all of the boxes and we scheduled a visit. We met with Dr. Roberts and she was absolutely wonderful. My dog got excited when she entered the exam room and Dr Roberts sat on the floor with Dumpling so they can get to know each other. She examined Dumpling for allergy issues and gave us a prescription. The whole staff was so sweet and accommodating! We just took Dumpling back to VIP yesterday to get spayed and met with Dr. Cisneros. He was very nice and did his pre-surgery exam on Dumpling and took her to the back. Not ideal for us (or perhaps birds in general), but there were good things, too! I'm sure Dr. Cisneros at VIP is a caring and skilled provider. I've heard so from multiple cat and dog owners. He was polite with me, and I appreciated that VIP could get us in within a few days (when our usual vet at Cinema was unavailable). Beyond that, we had a challenging experience - maybe because the approach is so different than what we're used to. We felt our bird was handled a bit roughly (and seemed distressed as a result). We were surprised by a few other things, too, such as a fairly large human clipper being used and his head being covered. Our bird also bled a tiny bit after, which was missed until I got to the car. We talked briefly about an issue of concern, and didn't realize we'd be charged for the full exam fee on top of the trim. (The total was over $65 for about 10 minutes, including the trim.) I now understand that's their policy whenever you meet with a doctor -- just sharing in case others could use a heads up. Our bird seemed shaken afterwards but seems fine now. We're grateful for Dr. C's time, to have shorter nails on our relatively new bird and for the friendliness of the staff. We're also grateful that he performed the trim with us in the room. For in-depth avian care or a gentler approach, we recommend an avian specialist. read more

Dr Cisneros is everything !! He literally saved my dog's life . He was the 5th vet I took my dog to because his head kept swelling up big on one side . Other vets charged a lot of $ to drain it but did little to discover the underlying cause . Dr Cisneros was able to figure it out after a few weeks of treating him and he recovered perfectly once given the right meds . Even more importantly, my dog never got nervous in his office . He normally would shake uncontrollably upon entering a vet office and would often poop in the waiting area due to nerves . I brought in a young male cat that needed to be neutered, as he was fighting with every single cat on our street. He was somewhat feral, but the neighbors all feed him. We didn't want to take him to the shelter, because most black cats are not adopted and ultimately get euthanized. VIP performed his surgery and he received the basic vaccinations. I found a stray cat and it seemed to adopt me so after a few weeks, I took it to the vet to have her checked out and to see if she had been already micro chipped, which she was not. I had such a terrible experience with this vet clinic. Was my first and the last time I took my pet there. First impression, so dirty there and non organize. I came there with my senior/16 y.o. cat because he has problem with his joints. During our appointment with Dr. Gisneros, I asked to give me prescription for medication that will reduce inflammation and pain, and my cat will not suffer. He said that the best to do monthly SQ injections of medication called Solensor so widely used. I refused because of so many side effects of this drug and my cat is too old to do any experiments, and I would like to try different less complicated treatment. Doctor did not like my idea, probably, because will not have customer that will pay every month. He told its need to be draw blood in order to prescribe medication (so strange he did not ask to do any labs or X-Rays to start treatment with more dangerous drug). But, he did not know we had laboratory test results that were done not a long time ago in different vet clinic. Anyway, he refused to give me prescription saying that he is busy. In addition, I was charged for this visit. Please, think before you follow nonsense recommendations even though its veterinarian saying and make sure bring your loved pet by yourself if they are doing such injections that you know exactly it was done. read more

Needed to have our 10 yr old Beagle looked at for a concern of a growth/sore on his backside. Called for appt and was advised to "walk in". We walked in with our dog at 3 PM and by 3:10 we were being seen in a room. The reception girls were very quick and friendly. We had an immediate good feeling about this clinic. Dr Cisneros came in and inspected and treated our dog. He was awesome. Greeted me and my 12 yr old son with a firm friendly handshake and began his treatment. He was very kind, gentle and considerate of our dog. Explained everything he was doing and made us all, including our dog, as comfortable as possible. Updated February 2020: Our second Yelp note regarding VIP. Last month we had our Chocolate Lab "Kodiak" in for neutering. He is a big lovable 18 month old beast. Took us a year to convince ourselves getting "fixed" was the right thing to do. We brought him in for his scheduled surgery. VIP explained the procedure and told us he'd be ready for pick up at 4 PM. We arrived at 4 PM. He was ready. The staff explained that everything went well, that he'd be goofy and maybe vomit from the anesthesia. Also to mind his activity etc for at least two weeks. He was in fact goofy and a little sick to his stomach that first night. By morning, he was nearly back to 100% normal, bounding around happily and in great spirits. No pain and hardly bothered by his sutures and fresh surgery area. By the way, his incision and area of surgery was very tidy and clean and to the untrained eye, very professional and carefully done. Over the next two weeks his wounds healed quickly and nicely and despite our concerns, he remains a rambunctious and spirited big brown beast. The reason for my note is not just last months procedure, but yesterday, without an appointment, we brought him back due to a likely allergic reaction to a bee sting or something. The staff saw him quickly, was kind and considerate as they treated him and put our minds at ease. Once again, 24 hours later, he is running amok as usual (the way we like it). Both the scheduled surgery and the emergency visit were quoted a certain, reasonable price, and we were happy to pay for the excellent service and care. This is not some new, fancy, Santa Clarita flashy vet office. It's a bit older , and we are good with that. The office staff is friendly and nice. I took my budgie in for splayed legs. I wanted to know if they could be fixed. The vet took her into a different room, and we heard my bird SCREAMING for five minutes straight. When they came back into the room, we saw that he had taped her legs together He put her down, and she fell flat on her face. Next, when he remove the tape, he RIPPED most of her leg feathers off. Her poor legs were red, and she screamed. Then he told us that her legs couldn't be fixed. And he charged us 40 dollars, after he hurt our bird. And here's the sad part: She still won't really let anyone touch her now, because she thinks that they are going to hurt her again. She gets spooked more easily, and takes off flying at the slightest noise. I would not reccommend this vet, at least for birds. read more

Update - our beagle is walking really nicely now post-surgery (luxated patella). The included physical therapy really seemed to help. She improved after each session. After surgery, the vet kept her there and monitored her for several days at no charge (to prevent injury), then provided after treatment and physical therapy in the all-in-one quote. She favored her leg the first few weeks post-op (which is normal we were told) and now she's feeling great. Hopefully she doesn't dislocate her other leg now but if she does, we will be back! Our experience was way better than expected and I couldn't recommend them enough. read more

Avoid at all costs. They are running a classic BAIT AND SWITCH. My wife was phone quoted $195-$205 for teeth cleaning. (Small dog.) We spent 30 minutes on site and were presented with an estimate for $563-$683 with all kinds of charges that were NEVER mentioned on the phone, but that were only related to teeth cleaning. (See photo.) We refused the service and our dog was essentially held hostage for a $28 exam fee which we will now have to dispute with our credit card company. I was referred to Dr. Cisneros for TPLO/MPL Right Rear Orthopedic Surgery after my 70lb staffordshire terrier completely tore her ACL, in addition to having a luxating patella in the same leg. I researched many surgeons in the LA area prior to scheduling and felt confident with Dr. Cisneros, especially since he was so highly recommended by my primary vet. I did read all Yelp and Google reviews regarding VIP Vet Services prior to scheduling, and can't speak to the other vets or individual experiences from other Yelp-ers, but my experience throughout the entire process has been pleasant and professional. It did take a few weeks to get surgery scheduled, but 6 other surgeons I called in the area were booked out even longer. During the initial consult with Dr. Cisneros, he took his time and was very thorough in describing the issues, what surgery would consist of and correct, and what after surgery recovery would involve. Most of the information was not new to me, as I had known the past two years that surgery would be needed at some point for her luxating patella, and joined a FaceBook group that consists of thousands of members that have gone through TPLO surgery to obtain resources and research what that process would involve after she tore her ACL. Dr. Cisneros provided a quote for the surgery including labs, X-rays, a 4 night in-hospital stay (this is standard after TPLO surgery for his patients), take home medications, and 3-4 weekly physical therapy sessions. The Front Office staff was friendly and professional each time I called to schedule appointments or check in (I called everyday during the in-hospital stay after surgery); Dr. Cisneros is very accessible and accommodates fitting me into his schedule to address questions after surgery; the vet assistants were knowledgeable and genuinely cared about my dog; and my final price aligned with the quote I received, which cost significantly less than I would have paid somewhere else. My dog is 11 days post op and doing great, bearing weight on her leg, and can't wait to be able to go hiking again. We have a long journey of recovery ahead, but I'm glad she will have a good quality of life and am extremely satisfied with the knowledge, experience, professionalism, and attentiveness received by Dr. Cisneros and staff. I will note that as a patient during COVID, it's important to be flexible and have patience; phone and in-clinic wait times may be longer. It's also important to be able to differentiate between a true emergency and conditions that do not require immediate treatment. As difficult as it was for me to push surgery out 3 weeks due to the schedule, I've heard stories from many other folks across the U.S. that have had longer delays, and it typically doesn't create additional issues if diet and activity are restricted as recommended by the vet. Apologies this is such a lengthy review, but I wanted to be comprehensive given the significance of this procedure. We have an older chihuahua that we adopted from the shelter in February. She developed a hacking cough that lasted for over a week. I came here because I was told how great they were by a neighbor. I needed a good vet in the area, one that wasn't a rip off like so many vet offices are. I'm speaking of those who charge and perform unnecessary and or overpriced treatments. I took my dog in because he had become very inactive to the point of gaining a lot of weight. He stopped playing, running, fetching. I suspected and still do he has a thyroid condition but this was dismissed as if if never mentioned it. After examining my 7 year old dog and running a general blood test. I was told he had arthritis and I was given a 2 week prescription of ant-inflammatories and was told to call and check in with the Dr. In 2 weeks. So exactly 2 weeks later, I called and told them not much changed, they said give it some time so I came in and got another 2 week prescription. Again I noticed only slight improvement but still no playing, running, trotting, ball, my dog didn't even want to swim. ( His favorite thing ). I went in since I was out of meds and was told to add glucosamine which I explained I'd already been doing so. I was them told to give that a couple more weeks time to kick in. 2 weeks later I called to ask if the Dr. Would increase his dosage prior to my refilling his meds. I was put on hold for ever, it was close to closing time so I hung up and called back the next day. After holding, the receptionist spoke to me and told me " the Dr. Said she can't up the dosage because it's been over 6 weeks since he was examined, you'll hAve to make another appointment to have her examine him again. Meanwhile, the entire 6 weeks I kept asking for some help for my dog who was obviously in some kind of pain or ailing in some way and every time I was told to give it more time. Now I'm told it's been too long and he needs to be seen again. So an office visit, a diagnosis, and $200 in medication and no improvement so "come back and pay again so we can start all over again". That's basically what happened since every time I called I was told to wait longer until it was 6 weeks which apparently is too long to go without having to see a Vet again. You would think they would have done something like increase his meds since during the 6 weeks the dog was in pain. Waste of time and money. I'm not going to go back only to be given the run-around again while my dog remains ill for another 8 weeks! I should note the Dr. Turned out to NOT be the Dr. I was referred to which was Dr. Sisnosis. I thought I was being seen by Dr. Sisnosus and had no idea the office would turn out to be a waste of time and money. Does anyone know of a good vet who isn't just in it for the money & actually CARES about the patient? I'm tired of getting laid away at veterinarians offices. The last one I saw wanted $1400 for an ear infection and a hematoma which btw is painless and goes away on its own after 6 weeks. Would've been nice to know. Luckily I found this out on my own and ended up with a $130 bill instead of a $1400 bill both for the same thing without the hematoma surgery. read more

I took my dog to this vet to have her get a deep cleaning of her teeth because she was in pain and had a lot of tartar on her teeth we could not get off. We got a quote from them that it would be $150 if there were no complications. The day we took her in for the procedure we were told they had a base rate of $295. Then I asked for the base to be itemized . None of it made any sense but we paid it. Then they wanted us to sign a contract that stated they could take as many teeth out that they thought were necessary. When I barked ( excuse the pun) lol about the $120 per tooth they told me the most I would pay for everything including medications I.V. Blood work would be $481.00 but that was a lie. I ended up paying almost a hundred more. What a racket this place is. Then they were charging me $44.00 for the antibiotic. I called Costco pharmacy who sell pet meds as well and bought them there for $13.00. So they milked the bill for all they could get. Greedy whoremongers. Their facility was very clean including their bathroom. I watched through a door when they were drawing her blood and they were very gentle and loving to her. They did not know I was watching either. The girl at the front desk was also very nice. I knew she was just doing her job but they ripped me off. I have no respect for that place. While I was there a woman came in and was there to pick up her very expensive dog food. It seems someone had opened it and used it. She was not a happy camper about that. Our Huskie appears to be doing much better though and for that I am very thankful to them for even if they gouged my pocket book.One last thing they did call me every couple of hours to keep me informed of my pets progress which I did like. read more
