First the positives, and there are many. The pricing, the number of showings and the seats are comfortable. The people that work there are super friendly and gracious. Here's the thing ... And it's part of the reason we rarely go to movies any more, in general, but it's something the theater could have control over. We went to the 6 p.m. showing of The Odyssey XD. There was a modest sized audience at that time ... which is why we chose it. However, two separate couples chose to bring younger than preschool age children to this show ... One child must have been around a year. The other couple brought a child that looked like she was around three. Of course, in a movie that was in no way meant for children, and featured many war scenes and images that likely would be scary and overwhelming for young children, the children cried, talked and got up and down during the show. At one point toward the end "climactic scene, one of the couples turned on their cell phone flash light and were waving it around. I understand that sometimes it's hard to get sitters and have a date night out. However ... In no way should the theater allow people to bring young children into a movie like The Odyssey. Everyone else in that theater had paid money to see that show - and perhaps paid for sitters, or it was their one night off from work ... or whatever ... and had their experience impacted by the choice of these couples to bring children in to the auditorium for a 2 1/2 hour show. Definitely an area for the theater to consider being a little more proactive. Additionally, never saw anyone pop in to check on the audience and make certain everything was alright ... They surely would have heard an seen the problem. read more

I recently visited this Cinemark location to go see Wicked with my friend. I hadn't been to this theater in years, so I don't know what to expect. The theater has been kept up well! It is clean and comfortable. The staff were helpful and kind throughout my visit. The hallways are easy to navigate and there are ample stalls in the restrooms. It is located in Monroeville Mall, but there are external entrances and exits so you don't have to go into the mall to get into the theater! read more

Clean theatre. I assumed that the seats would be recliner, it was not, but the cost of ticket was almost half of what we pay in Texas on a regular day so I guess its ok. The sound quality was great. Loved that the temperature was set to average it was not too cold that I needed a jacket while inside nor too warm. Stationed inside a mall, it is conveniently located within easy access to food court and various shopping stalls. The staff was very friendly and very welcoming. The unlimited popcorn option was not to be passed over to cover the emotional movie journey we were about to start.... This Cinemark would not be my preferred option in the Pittsburgh area for a couple glaring reasons - 1. Their concession stand is inefficient and slow, so if you are in a hurry good luck getting your items in time, and 2. The seats in the XD theater and frankly, unacceptable in this day and age. They are basically rocking changes that squeak and get real uncomfortable, real fast. read more

I used to live in Wilkinsburg and when I wanted to go to the cinema it was Monroeville. It was located outside the mall now it's in the mall. And to be honest, I'm a penny-pincher so I picked a Tuesday to see the new Superman movie. They have a matinee Tuesday & Wednesday so I thought try to catch a good show & some popcorn. The show was fantastic viewing on IMAX and it was worth the money. Afterwards the mall has the Food Court and other shops to shop around. All in all, it's a great time ! read more

I am a big AMC Lowe's theater -specifically speaking of the Waterfront PGH location. However I do enjoy this Cinemark theater located in the Monroeville mall . 1) for the convenience in distance 2) the XD Extreme reserved seating 3) for the food options. Theaters are clean ( though I haven't been in the general theaters that arnt IMAX, 3D or XD Extreme). Food station is a bit hectic and kind of messy when busy but that's a given . They have hot dogs , mozz sticks , nachoes , etc .. as well as a ton of candy selections and ICEEs! Cleanliness here seems to keep up to my standard pretty well even after being opened for a few years . No complains from me and my family ! read more

This theater is very dated. However, the tickets and concessions were priced very reasonably compared to an AMC theater. Our coke was a little flat, but hey it happens. Our guy hooked us up on the butter and made sure it was layered throughout the popcorn. The biggest downfall of the theater was how warm and muggy it was inside. The air felt so thick and I don't even think the ac was on at all. In the summer that's a no go for me. I had to keep holding my drink to stay cool. Would probably go back because of the price, but maybe during the winter time or maybe bring a tiny handheld fan. read more

We are not from this part of Pittsburgh but was in the mall and decided to take in a movie. We were pleasantly greeted by Lee who was very polite and welcoming. Then we went to the candy counter and Raven's bubbly personality helped us. Even after the movie, Lee and Raven were standing together, thanked us for coming to the theater and said goodbye. Walking through the halls, all of your staff said hello, looked us in the eye and were super kind! It was a perfect experience! Please give your employees a High Five!! read more

Becareful sending your precious kids to the movies. They have to have an adult, especially on the weekends and I'm okay with that, however when the adult shows up don't racial profile, harass, and target. This happened when my daughter and her friend called me. I addressed myself as the parent to Mark the Monroeville Cinemark cinema security. He followed us to the ticket purchase area until we purchased tickets and then appeared at the movie exit to follow us out when the movie was over. The female movie manager was useless! When are you people gonna stop these behaviors that a lot of us don't deserve?! There are​ two reasons why this movie theatre is super convenient​ to go to - 1) the 67 bus line is literally steps​ away from the theatre and 2) it's​ located right in the mall! The movie selections can get a tad limited sometimes especially when there's​ a big release (like lion king) because they don't​ have that many theatres but they always feature the most popular films. There's one IMAX theatre which usually shows the highest watched show which I highly recommend because its the biggest screen. Other great things about this theatre are that the employees are super nice, they just started serving new items (try the mozzarella​ sticks and cheese on hot Cheetos​ [SO YUMMY]), and the bathrooms have always been clean whenever I go. They're almost getting reserved ​seating soon which is gonna make ticketing and seating so much easier. read more

Great new cinema, but the employees aren't with it yet. I showed up on a Tuesday to take part in their cheap ticket day. $5.25, any show, all day. Me not looking at my watch, walked up to the touch screen and purchased a ticket for the next showing of the movie I wanted to see. I walked in and handed my ticket to the usher and he just directed me to the theater. Once I entered the theater and noticed the movie was half way through, I turned around and walked out, checked my watch, and notified the employee that I'd be back. Hence why I said the employees aren't with it yet. After that little hiccup, I came back at the right time, and all was well. The theater itself is beautiful. It's new, so it'll look like that for some time. Seats are comfortable, soft and reclining like. Sound system was adequate and I was happy with the experience overall. It's great that Monroeville now has a movie theater once again. It was really the only thing missing in the area. It is a long walk if you are in the mall, park outside the entrance to the mall. Careful though, that is where the bus stop is and buses whiz around there constantly. There is a ticket booth, but it's easier to just purchase your ticket at the touch screen kiosks. Snacks available. Arcade inside to keep you busy until you movie starts. read more

I went here with a group for the special anniversary showing of Wizard of Oz. It's one of my all time favorite movies and one I grew up with. I love getting the chance to see old movies in theaters. This cinema experience is better than most others (ok, not The Manor because that is just plain special). But, better than Lowe's because Lowe's got rid of most of their staff in favor of automated ticket kiosks and drink machines. I kind of prefer a real person tending to my needs, plus Cinemark gives more employment opportunities. But, the real draw to this particular Cinemark is that because of the curfew imposed on teens without adults at the Monroeville Mall, that means less people in attendance on opening premier nights, thus more opportunity for me (such as in the opening of a particular Star Wars movie I recall. We went online, ordered a ticket easily and showed up at movie time and enjoyed our flick. Incredible.) And, last evening (Saturday) my husband and I saw a 7:45pm showing of "The Circle" and we paid a total of 10.00 (4 for him -- senior citizen rate and 6 for me). Then, I had signed up for Cinemark reward emails and had a coupon for a free small popcorn with purchase of any size soft drink so I got a popcorn and medium diet coke for 4.95. Thus, our date nite of a movie and concession treats came to 14.95. Yeah, go beat that for stadium seating, a theatre close by (minutes from our house) on a Saturday night. Think not. read more

The best part about this theater are the prices. Unless the movie is brand new, hot off the press the prices are only $4.00 to $6.00. We try to go for the matinee's to get the four dollar rate. It's sad that two people can see a movie for cheaper than a bag of popcorn but that's the name of the theater game. I should know I worked at one when I was in high school. The theaters are clean and relatively new. They are not the biggest, probably because they are located inside the mall, but they have enough amenities, stadium seating, XD, RealD 3D, IMAX. Probably my biggest gripe about the place is the set-up. You purchase your tickets then get your overpriced concession food, if so desire, then enter through past the usher. If you were inclined to purchase these items after entering the theater you would have to show your tickets again for reentry. It's a little backwards in my opinion. The wife and I have been to this movie theater 3 times in the last month and we do like this theater in Monroeville. I grew up in Monroeville and I remember the old movie theater here at the mall and the old theater minutes from here down 22. When those theaters closed we had to travel a ways just get to the movies. It's nice to have a decent movie theater in Monroeville again. We live in Murrysville now and we have a closer movie theater to us but this is the theater that we go to more often because of the price for their movies. I do think it is an odd shaped theater. Not actually when you're sitting and watching your movie but when you're walking in the lobby to your movie or trying to find a restroom you feel a little lost. You think your going towards your movie or a restroom and all of the sudden you're at the exit to go back into the mall. Other than that it's a very nice theater. It's clean, the sound quality in the theater is great, and again the prices are what keeps us coming back. We went to a movie on a Saturday night for $6 and the next day we returned to a matinee for $4. You can't beat that. We have been trying to watch all of the Oscar nominated movies before the Oscars come on in February. So we have been to the movies a lot lately. We won't go this many times through out the year but if there is a movie that we want to see most likely we will come to this movie theater to watch it. read more

With being a somewhat new theater, it still has that new feel for me when I walk in. I have yet to see it dirty like others in the area, it is still a clean managed theater to me. We have not attended to many movies here, either movie times aren't suitable or it's a weekend and I won't go on a weekend, too many young kids and teens. I don't dislike them, I have young kids and teens of my own, it's their time and I want to allow them to enjoy and go when they allow me to enjoy my movie time. The bad reputation that is falling the mall of late also gives me pause. The theater has its own entrance without going through the mall, but it still gives me pause. Concession stand prices are high, but no different than any other. It is to be expected when going to the movies, either you pay their price or sneak in your own, or eat before or after the show. Monroeville has a few nice restaurants or fast food places in the area, that are open late. I like the popcorn, I have never had a bad batch yet. I also like to buy the bucket popcorn and drink deals. We keep them in the car. We have done so with other theaters in the area as well. Ticket prices are just about the same as other theaters in the area. There are discounts if you look for them. I have ordered advances tickets and it has worked very well, with no complains. I have also ordered through coupon books, tickets for family members as Christmas gifts. I have uninstalled the Cinemark app on my phone, way too many glitches and it isn't as easy to use as I would have liked. The new updates have not made it user friendly. Had to update review, I like this theater A lot better now. They updated some of their problems and now offer specials like $5.25 Tuesdays and a bargain cup and popcorn bucket for $6 but $3 refills and you can bring it back. They have it set up to the left for the ticket booth but there are two electronic kiosk available if you don't want to wait in line. The concession stand is in the center but the food prices are definitely too high. I ordered a hot dog and it was already packed in that aluminum foil wrap to keep it warm but the bun got all smooshed. That cost me $4 and it didn't come with any toppings, just condiments. I wanted a water to wash it down with but they charge for water too. What a rip!! You have water fountains past the ticket exchange but you charge for water at the concession. That's no fair! Normally the theater will have a bathroom in the lobby but you have to purchase a ticket and walk back through the maze of theaters just to go pee. The bathroom was clean and very well decorated but the ceiling had a leak that was dropping water everywhere. For this place to be new I wouldn't expect any leaks so soon. When we took our seats I was surprised that the chairs were made of leather. They were spacious but I didn't like how they reclined as one whole unit instead of just the back. Plus it was sooo cold in there that I couldn't take my coat off and truly get cozy. I'm happy that monroeville has a theater now though because it's a lot closer to home and a better deal for our pockets. read more

Just drove 30 minutes to see a 5 p.m. feature at this theater. Although it was a cold Sunday afternoon, they only had one person selling tickets. I had to flag down the manager and call out for him to open another register. We waited in line 20 minutes and, by the time, we got to the register, the feature was sold out. We thought arriving 30 minutes early for a movie that's on TV about four times a year -- The Wizard of Oz -- should have given us plenty of time. What a disappointment! We will never go to this theater again. read more

Monroeville is little too far from Squirrel Hill in Pittsburgh, where I stay. But I decided to watch Dr. Strange with my fiancée here on Thanksgiving day. We were planning on getting some shopping done from JC Penny right after. The theater is in the Monroeville Mall, do there's a bunch of stuff to do before of after the movie. The theater itself is standard. Nothing outstanding, nothing terrible. We liked watching the movie here. Seats were comfortable. A matinee movie costs just $4, so that's fun. There is a game arcade right outside the theater, where you can play while you wait for your movie to begin. read more

Great movie theater! My family loves going to the movies and this theater makes the experience that much better. Big cozy seats, great sound and the movie prices are very reasonable. Especially a matinee ticket which is only $4! They have all of the latest movies and even offer XD and 3D for some movies. I really prefer this location to Lowes in the Waterfront as it is much closer to me. The theaters are always clean and the stadium style seating makes sure that everyone has the best seat in the house. They also offer handicap accessible seating for those that need it. Yes the concession stand prices are high but, you can always do what my family and I usually do before hitting the movies. Hit the nearby Dollar Tree store and grab some drinks and candy on your way. Or you can always hit one of the nearby restaurants. I also love the fact that Cinemark has an automated kiosk where you can buy tickets for same day movies or tickets for show times in the future. That's cool though because I'm Duke of like 4 other theaters still. Cinemark offers a variety of state-of-the-art movie viewing experiences with options such as XD, RealD 3D, IMAX, and D-Box. D-Box is not offered at this location. Some of these options might cost you a bit more to see. However, this Cinemark location is cool because it's cheaper than the other locations for some reason. Matinee prices are only $4 which makes this the cheapest and best theater in the area. The huge screens, awesome digital sound systems and comfortable seats, you can't go wrong here. This is also probably the smallest of the Cinemarks that I've been to and that's probably because it's within the confinements of Monroeville Mall. Beautiful facility. Great prices, But. . . #MonroevilleMall's movie theater #Cinemark has one of the worst policies. I can appreciate taking safety measures, but nobody wants the third degree when seeing a movie in broad daylight. This policy has been liberally enforced at best since I've been quite a few times and NEVER knew about it. I've only been carded twice. Policy: Anyone over age 17 must present indentification. All persons 17 and under without photo ID must be accompanied by the parent(s). I'm 11 & 12 years older than the young couple I was shaperoning and have valid ID. . .but we were turned away? How do they know I'm NOT the parent? Pretty sure I brought the 17 year old to see a movie there last year with NO PROBLEM. I won't be back Jack! Bet! read more

I really like having this theater right around the corner from me. Overall it's a very clean and newer theater. They show all the big movies out plus some special engagement movies also. During the summer they show low priced kids movies during the day. One thing about this theater that stands out if the overall cost of the tickets. It is far cheaper then other theaters in Waterfront and around the city. That in it self makes it pretty awesome. I have a rewards program thru a company that with the discount they give for theaters, the theater pricing is cheaper then with the discount if I was to buy tickets. Win win for families looking for a night out or a cheap date night ;) read more

Cinemark is the absolute latest and greatest in state-of-the-art in cinema viewing. Now in Monroeville. How about that. Awesome for all and convenient to the east side and just off 22/376. Modern, clean and as new as it gets. It has 12 auditoriums all of which have wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling screens, and its all digital sound and projection. Saw Thor: The Dark World in XD RealD 3D. I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised with the Cinemark theater in Monroeville, considering if you're from this area you know what a train wreck our poor mall has become in recent years. But Cinemark is superb. First off, Cinemark's popcorn is where it's at. Hands down the best theater popcorn you'll get, and you can drench it in butter and salt which makes it even more delicious. The prices are what you'd expect from any cinema, so don't be shocked to see $3 Snow Caps. Cinemark does have a free downloadable app however, where each movie you see, you earn rewards for your next movie. (Free Icee's!) The theaters themselves are incredibly clean. The seating is phenomenal and more comfortable than any other theater in the area, and the quality of the screens is crisp and brand new. I've been here a few times already and have yet to experience any sound or picture issues. Every seat has an equally amazing view as well. No more straining of the neck if you get exiled to the front row. The only con is that since the theater is connected to the mall, the weekend showings may draw in a higher-than-average number of talkative 14-year old brats (since they get bored aimlessly wandering the mall). I will say though for the first time in my life, theater staff *actually* kicked these kids out after checking in and hearing the kids talking loudly. So kudos to the staff for caring and being awesome. If you're looking to catch a movie though, this is the place to go. Cinemark Monroeville has actually brought me out of "movie-going retirement" and made catching a flick in Pittsburgh an enjoyable experience again. read more

Very nice new little cinema located inside of the Monroeville Mall. Despite how busy it gets, it's very clean, which I appreciate. Popcorn is hot, buttery, and delicious in its heart-stopping goodness. Seats are comfy and the "XD" picture quality and sound is a noticeable improvement from other non-XD theaters. The staff is super friendly as well -- I actually got sick here once before a movie started and they were really nice about refunding my money. I'm not sure if it's because this theater is located in a mall or what, but good grief does it draw an exorbitant amount of teenagers. I mean, most theaters tend to attract a lot of teens, but this one is out of control with young'ns. I felt like I was roaming the halls of my old high school when I went to catch a show here the other weekend. So if you're here during peak weekend times, I would recommend trying to see movies that may not appeal to that demographic so as to avoid the inevitable texting/talking annoyances that sometimes happen when too many teens invade a theater. Although I read that with the recent negative things that have been happening at the mall (shooting, brawls), they're instituting a "no unaccompanied teens at night" policy soon (or maybe they already have?), so maybe this is a moot point. PS -- Sign up for the Cinemark email list and they'll send you a coupon every Wednesday that usually involves a free item with purchase! This is a really nice, well appointed theater attached to the Monroeville Mall. It has state-of-the-art sound and digital screens...not to forget the truly awesome XD cinema experience.
