The leather is super comfy and they've got those liftable middle armrests: perfect if you're with a partner and want that loveseat feel. Taco Tuesday: Great deal here. Tacos were only $5 each, which is a steal for VIP food. They actually tasted pretty fresh and crispy. The "Meh" The Margarita: They had them advertised for $10, but when the menu actually came, the cheapest one was $12 and some were creeping up to $17. Very central location and accessible by the ttc. The staff and concession workers where nice friendly and the theaters were clean.

Really enjoyed my first VIP movie experience. As someone who doesn't go to the movies often, having the option to eat dinner at the same time was quite the novelty and I will definitely be back for more. We had the beyond meat burger with a salad, bacon cheeseburger with poutine, and nachos to share. The food was on par with a bar like Moxie's or Jack Astor's and the prices were very reasonable (about $20 for most entrees). This is especially considering a popcorn, candy, and drink cost $20. The seats were comfortable and wide, and paired off so there's a fair bit of space between each pair for privacy. I think rows D-F are all pretty good views from the screen. I hear some some other locations have even better setups but we were happy with everything. Service was really attentive and efficient. The movie was good, too. read more

This was my first time watching a film in 4DX . It was such a fun and amazing experience. I highly recommend trying it. From the lights, seats shaking and water splashing - you are in for a total treat. I'd love to watch more films in 4DX! Super sad that not all theatres offer it - but making the trip downtown to Dundas Square is worth it though. read more

This Cineplex is located in a great area being right in the middle of dundas square and after a day of shopping or walking around holding bags , it's a great excuse to put your feet up. With many decent eateries located near it, it definitely is one of the favourites for cinema goers as well. The seats are comfortable and spacious, and I was very impressed with how clean the cinema was generally. There's a decent snack offering if you manage to get past the huge queues and the bathrooms are clean as well. It does get very busy the moment you exit the theatre in terms of getting out of the building so I do suggest hanging around for a bit until it clears as no one wants to be standing in a packed elevator or escalator (And I couldn't find the stairs!!) read more

I saw MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE DEAD RECKONING- PART ONE. It was almost 3 hours. Maybe they need to start to have intermissions for movie that's longer than 2 hours, otherwise when I go to the washroom I would miss some parts of the movie. We had to wait for a while to get to even order from the concession stand. The movie start time was at 6:50, so probably prime time which means they really should have more employees working at the concession or maybe have a quick line for popcorn. I do like the faux leather seats though instead of the fabric before. Easier to clean and also did not make me itchy sitting on the chair for the duration. Usually my butt would be sore by the end but this time the seat was actually comfy. Will definitely come again to this location. read more

Though there's a few things I'd take off points for: 1) The chairs sit very upright and don't recline as far back as those in other theatres, making for a pretty uncomfortable experience. 2) When selecting a movie, they show you movies that haven't even released yet which is confusing. 3) Wine is $12. Visit June 1 2019.. I miss going to the movies! And I can't believe that it's been that long since I went to this location. LA' GASP! It's amazing how time flies. Now let's get to the main reason why you are here. Food/drinks: 5/5 The popcorn shrimp, chocolate lava dessert, and the fish bowl drink (can't remember what I had, probably because I had to much to eat and drink...jks). Oooh! The churros too. These are what I recommend trying when you do go there...probably next year due to the whole "you know what" pandemic. Customer Service: 5/5 The servers were friendly, made sure our orders were on point and checked back to see if everything was good. I truly felt like a VIP hehehee. Parking: 4/5 it's Downtown Toronto, so parking is either full or expensive. Save yourself the hassle and take the bus/train. Cleanliness: 4/5 May be I'm just nit picking at this point but...the garbage was full and you couldn't fit anything after the movie was over. Bonus point: I watched Aladdin 5/5. It was my first time watching a movie here. I bought VIP tickets to see Shang-Chi at 7:15pm on a Sunday night. $23/ticket. I had no idea what VIP meant. Tickets were self-purchased at the kiosks. Several were not in service and it wasn't due to social distancing. There is a separate VIP section and you have to be 19+ to go in because they serve alcohol. I was disappointed to find out the cushion seats were not reclining or had any foot rest. It's not like our AMC or Century theatres back in the States. I like that you can order food and drinks from your seat before the movie starts. There were 2 servers there to take your order. We settled on a tropical sangria which was served in glassware. The drink had barely any alcohol in it. read more

This Cineplex Odeon is conveniently located right at Dundas Station with connection to The Path! This is especially awesome during winter as I don't need to brave the winter cold to get here by TTC! I've been to this theatre a long time ago but not for VIP! It's actually been so long that when I got to the entrance of the mall I had no idea how to get up to the cinema. What looks like the entrance to the TTC (which it also is) also leads to the theatre. Go inside and take all the escalators up till you can't go any further. The Cineplex is kind of hidden to the left hand side of the Jack Astor's. From here you'll need to present your ticket. There are more escalators that will take you up to the VIP area. There is pretty big well-lit signage that points out the VIP area. There aren't any washrooms beyond this point so make sure you go before. In the VIP area there is an open restaurant area with a bar and TVs. There's a smaller concession stand just beyond that. One of the perks of VIP though is being served in your seat so try that out if you haven't before! Our movie was in VIP theatre 1. Upon entering, my date told me that this wasn't one of the better VIP theatres. The chairs had less functionality and it was difficult to control the recline on it. Also there weren't separate tables that you sit at. The tables were built into the chair arm rest and you could pull it out so that it was in front of you. another thing about the chairs is that depending on which pairing you pick, you can adjust the middle armrest so that it folded up and had more space (for example if you're cuddling up to someone). If you're separated by an armrest with a tray that's a no-go. There were paper menus in pockets in the seats in front of us. They do serve alcohol but one tip a friend let me know about was that drinks does tend to equal having to go to the bathroom a fair bit so keep that in mind. I believe you are able to order up to a certain time. We were able to order during the previews and the servers were coming around with food during the beginning of the movie still. I had the pulled pork poutine. The bowl that it came in was actually tiny. It was dark so I have no idea what it actually looked like but it was dry and not great. Luckily we did also order movie popcorn. We asked for no butter but they missed that part and the liquid butter was pumped on there. I tend to enjoy the saltier popcorn but I have to say that I was super thirsty after that. In terms of the screen, they are a bit smaller than the full sized theatres. I'm not sure if this was a function of it being a theatre in the city or VIP specific. The sound seemed good if not a little loud at points. I enjoyed my experience here overall but probably wouldn't do VIP again at Yonge and Dundas. read more

Saw a movie here last night and I loved the comfortable seats in the theater. It was just the regular theater (vs VIP), which I hadn't been to in a while so I was pleased to see they even lean back. Makes a huge difference when you're a tall person! This is no reflection on the theater itself, but I was shocked when despite having a practically empty theater, two women came and sat right beside us, and one of them put her huge purse on top of my jacket and purse on the seat beside me. I couldn't help but laugh. There's literally rows and rows of empty seats and she chooses the ones right beside me. Very strange. read more

I don't have a lot of experience in larger theaters such as this. In my hometown, theaters were the destination place. Here, the theater is in the center of a destination place. With that being said, the location of this theater is amazing!!! You can do your shopping across the street, eat dinner outside the theater then catch a movie 10 feet away!! My husband and I were in town for Labor Day weekend, and we were excited to go see Shang Chi. Cineplex was showing the movie, so we got tickets in the self serve machines. Honestly, I expected more from this theatre simply because it's in Dundas Square, and the seats weren't even luxury reclining. It felt like an auditorium theatre. We did the general admission because I couldn't find good seats and a reasonable time. We ended up sitting in the far right which isn't my favorite place to sit in a theatre, not sure if some of the seats were blocked off due to covid or if it was just busy. We were in auditorium 24, seats BB 4 and 5, row BB is the second row at the very front. We enjoyed the movie and the popcorn was reasonably fresh and good, but the seats could be better especially if some of the movie tickets were at least $20+. I don't see how it's a VIP area either. If you don't care for comfort and just want to see the movie, this is the place to be. read more

Time for an update for this theater. I can't praise Cineplex enough for the VIP theater approach they have taken here. Assigned lush seating check, food and drinks (including booze) served to your seat check, no one under 19 kicking your seat check and check. The front row seats actually recline all the way back. There is quite a bit of up charge for the VIP theaters but its worth IMO if you are movie luver and want to see it in a comfortable fashion. There is bit more oomph in the sound systems at IMAX and Ultra AVX and screen size is a lot bigger but if I have a choice I would rather watch a movie that's not shot in IMAX cameras here. The beer and wine selection is OK and I even saw people drinking a whole bottle of wine by themselves! Good for night out if bars and clubs are not your scene I suppose. read more

Toronto was experiencing a bit of a heat wave, so what should one do? Go to the movies! It's inside and the AC is usually blasting! It's not the first time I've done this. Went to see the new Now You See Me sequel. It was only playing in the VIP theater which meant, a higher ticket price but a server brings you whatever you want, and you get to sit in these bigger cushy seats. I've been to Cinepolis in San Diego, and they offer continuous service throughout the movie, and the chairs recline. This was not offered here. Although I do like the full bar but I didn't take advantage or I would've fallen asleep. I didn't like the little table that swings toward you, because it felt higher than the chair arm. There were probably 9 people total in the whole theater, but why this annoying couple had to sit in the row behind me to the right was beyond me. You do choose your seats and they could've sat down in front. One of them had some nasal problem and it was just annoying! Other than that, it's a great place to come to. I ordered some churros which were decent. Again, on a hot day, definitely go see a movie! read more

I had been on vacation in Toronto for a few days and after walking my way across the city, I needed a break. And a movie was a great option to relax for two hours and rest my feet! Cineplex Odeon is huge! As someone who never had been there before, it's a little confusing. The building is about four stories. You keep going up escalator after escalator until eventually you come into the movie theater. I truly thought I was lost for a good five minutes. They have an online ticket kiosk and a line with a person. I was surprised to see so many people in the line to have a person wait on them. I liked that actually. They have VIP experiences in some theaters. Some theaters are 4D and some are standard (mine was standard). I ordered a pretzel and a Coke from the concession stand for a reason price (even more reasonable with the conversion to USD). The theater itself wasn't great. A little dirty. Seats were comfortable enough but definitely not luxury. Maybe in the VIP areas they are nicer? Overall it was a good experience. My feet rested. I enjoyed a movie. And I found a new place to hang out when I'm in Toronto. read more

I'd give this place another star if the selection was greater. Having said that, what they have on their menu isn't bad. I was surprised by the quality of their food considering that one would generally have dinner elsewhere before the movies. Definitely worth the try if you haven't. read more

Came last week to watch Thor at the VIP theatre. I've also tried the VIP cinema at Don Mills shoppes previously. I really enjoy the VIP experience. I like the assigned seating and big comfy couches and chairs and order from your seat options. I had the buffalo chicken fingers and side salad. My friend had popcorn and a Diet Coke. They bring everything to you. I think you have to be there at least 10 minutes before the movie starts to order and get your selection in seat. The meal is a good portion and always comes well presented and tastes great. Haven't tried the drinks yet but they have a good selection of cocktails and wine if you're looking for this. Overall VIP is the ultimate movie experience ! read more

Heading up 5 floors of escalators is kind of cool when you're heading TO the movie, but it loses it's novelty when you leave and are crammed in with everyone else trying to exit the theatre. A little too crowded for my liking and I wasn't in one of the large theatres! Easy to get to and easy to find, but would not be my theatre of choice. read more

My friend and I wanted to try 4DX at the only Cineplex theatre in Canada. We watched Guardians of the Galaxy 2 in the front row with hesitation but the seats were actually fine. I headed early to pick-up tickets since it was Tuesday. To my surprise, there was a longer line for a free preview of an animated film which I was interested on how to get on guest list. However, I overheard that they oversold the guest list so they were scrambling to find seats in a packed theatre. Back to my experience of the 4DX movie, I walked in the theatre and noticed that there were not as many seats compared to a 3D theatre. Each of the 3 sections had 4 seats in the row with 12 for the entire row. Although there was a handicap section, I do not think anyone would pay for it given that the value is the motion seats similar to DBOX. The added experience included air vents shooting air in the headrest, bubbles from above, occasion massage from the back of the seat, and wind blowing from the front. The overall experience was good but the air vents by the headrest were annoying when the movie constantly triggered them for several times. It was amazing how they coordinated the 4DX experience with the movie. It is on the pricier side so I likely will choose wisely on which movie to watch with this feature. read more

I have never been to a 4DX movie. I think that's the coolest concept. It's a shame it wouldn't work for most of the movies that come out; could work really well for sci-fi and action, though. But I saw Lego Batman, and it was pretty sweet. About halfway through you get kind of annoyed by all of the movements as they're repetitive, but it's like being on a ride for two hours. The effects are pretty cool and definitely enhance your experience. My friend and I saw it one night and had an awesome time; my boss and I saw it the next night, and he told me he was distracted by the movement/effects. To each their own. This definitely appeals more to a younger crowd. I do think it's worth the $25 if you're going to see a big, fun movie. And the concessions stand was pretty reasonable compared to the states. You do get some unsavory types lurking around outside, but that's to be expected from downtown. I still had a good time and will probably go again. read more

Good cinema, good selection of movies, I really enjoyed the IMAX screen (Star Wars Rogue One with IMAX was incredible), and the location could not be better. I loved that the seats were reclinable and I was super comfy during the movie. Popcorn was a bit expensive but the experience was worth the while. read more

We went to the IMAX here to watch Joker here yesterday, October 8 and man disappointed is an understatement. NOT the movie but the movie hall. The seat rows are cramped so close to each other that almost every row is staring at a head in front of them. NO!I dont mean really tall people come to watch a movie here, the theater is just designed that way. The bottom 15% of the screen is blocked by the seats (not people, so its blocked even if the seat in front of you is empty.) And add some more "blockage" for the heads of anyone taller than 5.5 feet sitting in front of you. I'm devastated that I wasted more than 70 CAD to go and watch a movie here for an IMAX experience that was the worst ever I've had across 3 continents. read more

SQUEAKY SEATS In theatre 1 (and maybe the others), there are many seats which squeak loudly if you change position, even slightly. This effectively ruins the experience of watching the film in a theatre. read more

As of January 26, 2020, Cineplex has changed the seats of the upper level cinemas. Formerly they were red felt coverings, now they're black leather. I also found out that the screen was off-centre to compensate for the emergency exit door. The decor in here (made by AMC) looks more generic and historic than the nearby Scotiabank Theatre, and because it's nearby, it has a different film selection, so check show times for both theatres to see what you're looking for. read more

I like this theatre. It's located diagonally across from the Eaton Centre and occupies the top floor of Toronto Life Square. You'll have to take some escalators up but you'll come across a Starbucks, Futureshop and a food court before you get to it's level. There are a few restaurants on the top level including Jack Astors, unfortunately the Woo buffet there has closed down for good. The theatres have decent seats and it's pretty well maintained. The video and audio or those of newer theatres so you won't really get stuck in that one crappy theatre that seems to only house art house movies. The thing that I hate about this theatre and possible all AMCs is how terribly slow and poorly designed the self serve ticket booths are! Please AMC fix these things. I'm pretty sure old school Commodore 64s would out perform these things. read more

The women's washroom for the VIP theatres is disgusting. When I pay $25.00 to go to the VIP I don't want to have to use stalls where the locks are broken, the floor is dirty and the toilet seats are rough and gross with burn marks on them. Also the soap hardly lathers and often times one of the hand dryers are broken. Now that theatre are at capacity again they really need to make the washroom experience more pleasant and more sanitary looking like they are at least trying. We're paying a lot and the washrooms should be VIP as well. read more

I've come to this theatre a number of times and it is usually a good experience. On the weekend it gets really busy so it is good to arrive about 30 minutes to an hour before the movie you would like to see. The Normal Theatre: 3-stars The normal theatre is okay. The theatres are smaller at this theatre than at other locations. The pro is this theatre isn't too busy on a typical weeknight. Usually you and your guest are the only people sitting in the theatre on a weeknight. On the weekend, it's much busier Ana you want to arrive early to ensure you are not sitting in the front row. VIP Theatre: 4-stars The VIP theatre is much better since the renovations. The theatres feel big and are clean. The chairs don't have a button that allows them to recline like they do at The Shops at Don Mills but it is definitely worth 4-stars. I enjoyed my experience at the VIP Theatre last week. read more

The whole Dundas Square vibe is little Toronto trying to be like big sissy NYC. It just ain't happening. AMC theatre is no exception. Right on the Yonge & Dundas corner, I expected a lot from this theatre (it was a million years in the making). All I got was a poorly laid out theatre, over priced food and mediocre seating. First of all, you have to take about 3-4 escalators to even get up to the theatre level. All the while passing by many big box retail stores, restaurants and a food court. Then after buying your ticket, you have to board another escalator to get to the where the theatres are. C'mon already! Such a poor use of space. Getting back down to ground level after the movie was equally a pain in the ass. This got me thinking, I wonder what their fire emergency escape route would be, because that thing is a fire trap waiting to happen. I'm not saying the theatre isn't cool looking, it's new what do you expect? But for the amount of hype and the location, it just doesn't do it for me. Sorry... read more

While it may seem a daunting cinema to get to for suburbanites trying to find strategies to park and unpark their cars, this Cineplex is a godsend if you like to have a destination to walk to downtown to see a show. Surrounded by a gaudy splendour that is Dundas Square and Yonge Street, the entrance is on Dundas with a myriad of escalators whisking theatre goers to a dark room in the labyrinth at one of the busiest corners in the city. The staff seemed helpful to point the way around, and there are elevators too, but they are not easily found and didn't seem too responsive when I looked. Crowds can get intense at this theatre but the lines went well with both the kiosk ticket machines and the regular ones. The theatre we went to was clean and spacious making this theatre the one to go to especially considering the whole wide world of downtown awaits you within a few footsteps outside the doors. read more

My husband and I saw "True Grit" there this afternoon. I've been there many times in the past. Yes, it's a pain to get to (three sets of escalators) but the theatres are nice and big if you are seeing something new and/or popular. If you have their card, it knocks a couple dollars off the ticket price every time. It's easy to get to (kitty corner from Eaton Centre). If you're hungry, head there a little early and grab a bite to eat in the food court or one of the restaurants (Milestones, etc.). read more

Came here to catch a flick last night with my dad. He was late so I had a good half hour to scope out this place. It's conveniently located; it took me only a couple of minutes to walk over from the subway. On a week night it was packed so I'm assuming that it's even busier on weekends. The theater has two levels so you have a lot of options with regards to what you want to see. I skipped the concession stand because I didn't want to pay $35 for a bag of popcorn.
