We came here for the Community event day. People could have free movies and 30mins arcade games. The closest Cineplex was Richmond Hill one. We arrived 10mins before open, and people lined up outside of the cineplex. It was cold, but the weather was so nice. The door open was exactly at 9am. Different lines for different movies , some staff were distributing customers. They have enough arcade game cards for kids to play. But the games were limited. All kids were lining up there and stuck. We had to lineup almost 20mins for a game. So the card almost could play 1 game only. This was once a year event, and this was the first time we attended it. Pretty neat. There's a separate VIP lounge to access the VIP theaters. Hot tip - during Covid, the lounge is considered a bar and restaurant so it's not subject to the prohibition to serving food in the theater as it is a separate space - but that doesn't mean you can grab popcorn and take to your seat. Even just walking through the space it feels high class - not the same theater going experience from high school. The cinema itself is nice and clean. We spoke to the manager, who was very unhelpful. I personally think VIP is the way to go whenever I go out for a movie night aside from IMAX. Located right at Eglinton Subway Station so is easily accessible if you are taking TTC. I've been to this cinema many times but never wrote a review until now. I have mostly been to the VIP theatres, which are my preference due to being able to purchase tickets with guaranteed seat selection - not to mention the extra comfortable chairs; however, I just saw "Knives Out" in the regular theatre and found the seats to be more comfortable than I remembered. I don't mind going early to get a good seat, but I'll probably stick to the regular theatres for movies after they've been out for a while and VIP for new releases just to avoid lineups. I like that you don't have to print your tickets now for online purchases - so simple and easy to just show your phone. Popcorn is usually good, but I don't think I'll ever be ok with the concession prices so I rarely get anything unless I have a gift card. Either way, going to the movies is still a fun outing and I love that this cinema is in my neighborhood. read more

I really enjoy the VIP seats here at this location because they let you automatically recline almost all the way. The seats are really comfy and are still in great condition after many many visits from many different posteriors over their lifetime. Far superior than the VIP offerings at the Yonge-Dundas location in my opinion. That theatre is closer to me but I prefer coming up to this location for the VIP seats. Now even though the seats are in great condition, I can't really say that for the cinema screen in the VIP auditorium 3. There is a very visible wear and tear patch right in the centre of the screen that you see during bright scenes of a movie. It kinda made watching Rise of Skywalker a little distracting because you just see this "stain" all the time. It wasn't a deal-breaker but I definitely took away from the experience a little. Once you see it, you can't unseen it. The staff are really attentive to getting your order before the movie starts if you come in with at least 15 minutes before showtime. I'm still gonna come back here for future movie experiences but hoping they replace the screen to make the best experience possible. read more

Serendipity led us to the Cineplex VIP Lounge for its inaugural Board Game night! Every single game was brand new and factory-sealed, including classics like chess, Battleship and Yahtzee. We ended up playing Blokus (an award-winning abstract strategy game) while munching on coconut shrimp and pierogis. Oh, and I happily got brain freeze, sipping on frozen Coconut Margaritas. Besides the main event (games not movies), tasty apps & array of (alcoholic) libations on offer, the views were simply stunning and the staff, incredibly fun! And accommodating -- the manager is open to buying your favourite board game if they don't have it. Move over, Snakes & Lattés. Came here for the the VIP theatre (on a Tuesday it's $16). It's a HUGE theatre with ticket sales/kiosks on the first floor, the 2nd floor operates as a restaurant so you can grab a bite/drink before you watch and then the theatres have their servicing for food/drinks (alcoholic and non). The menu is pretty decent (but of course expensive) - the typical popcorn, nachos, they also have "meals" such as popcorn shrimp, tenders/fries, wraps. Their selection of beer/wines is not bad, but once again a bit expensive. but watch in style with your chair comfy and reclined back and have your drink too I normally reserve going to VIP when i get a gift card to Cineplex or it's a movie I really want to see, because you tend to get a better audience - no chair kicking, no kids talking throughout the movie and generally no annoying people :) read more

First, it seems as though this theatre is now known as Cineplex Yonge and Eglinton on their website, though Google and this site still have "Silvercity" in front of it. Right off the bat: it's fairly easy to rate this theatre as five stars. I'm sure there's a few theatres globally which are better, but in Canada, this one has to be right near the top in terms of experience and it's hard to find anything lacking. Cineplex have been rolling out VIP cinemas over the last couple years, but I'm not sure how many others have 3 VIP screens. First, you enter the general VIP area which is effectively a nice bar/lounge space. As you continue, you reach the entrances 3 VIP theatres. They also offer a concession and bathrooms for this specific area. You can reach them barely steps away from your screen so that you miss as little as possible from the movie if you have to step out. Typically, I'm against paying a lot for a movie ticket and have little interest in paying nearly twice as much for 3D, AVX, etc... I'm not even terribly interested in IMAX unless a film was shot in 70mm film (such as Dunkirk). However, the VIP experience to me wasn't a gimmick and the emphasis is on comfort rather than "bigger and better" in terms of screen and volume. I think many people go to VIP for the luxury of being able to order from a full menu - which includes licensed drinks, from your seat and then being brought to you. People should be aware however that you have to do this before the showtime starts - which includes commercials and previews. I think it's a fairly cool feature, but if I were to come early to a movie, I might just choose from the variety of options in the area first and later enter the movie theatre. You are paying for the convenience. But I did enjoy having a beer at my movie. For me, the huge plus was the comfort. These aren't simply slightly wider chairs that rock back a bit, but full on leather, lazy-boy style, automated reclining chairs with leg rests. Each seat is about 3 feet wide, which doesn't include the massive armrests on each side (one of which has a food tray). The gap between rows is so large that you can walk along the aisle as people are fully reclined with their legs up and still have more than enough room to pass without bumping into anyone. I'm 6'3" and the seat and recliner sat me comfortably. I was nowhere near to having my feet near the head of the person in the row ahead of me, nor was I anywhere near to bumping into the people on either side of me. A guy a couple seats away from me had a broken leg, and I imagine this experience must have been so much better than any alternative. There's other perks too, such as being able to purchase your seat in advance which takes away the stress of having a poor seat or not getting in at all. I honestly can't think of anything lacking from my visit here and they truly delivered a near-perfect experience. Tips: - Signage in Eglinton Square is poor in directing you to the theatre. The theatre is located on the second floor, right next to the Yonge St. entrance. -The theatre validates Eglinton Square parking, taking 25% off the bill. You run it through their machine after the movie which reduces your bill when you pay at the station in the parkade. I paid $7.50 (reduced from $10). read more

I like the look and feel of this place. I am not into the modern theatres that are trying to be cities for monetary extraction. This is a great theatre for my needs. Close to subway. Close to home. Parking all around. Candy Mountain across the street. If you have time to kill there is an Indigo Bookstore attached which always is a great way to spend a few minutes browsing. They have enough screens that the choices of movies is first run and generally good. We usually go after the rush of new releases has died down to avoid the lines others have mentioned. Lots of self service terminals if the line for the cash is long. I suppose my only real complaint is the concession stand seems to always be understaffed. So if you have popcorn coupons... which we often do! Expect to wait a bit. Thankfully the 15 minutes of adds and trailers gives you ample time. pet peeve: paying for the movie and being forced to see adds! read more

I like the location as it's right at Yonge/Eglinton - steps from Eglinton Station as well. They have a number of theatres so there's a film for every taste. You probably won't find independent or foreign films though. I was here on Thanksgiving Monday to watch 'Gone Girl' and it was packed; however, there were enough seats for everyone to be seated. Not sure what else to say about this movie theatre. Prices of tickets and items at the concession stand are totally overpriced, but it's not something that this cinema can change. I've been to a great many Cineplex cinemas, and I have to say that this is a pretty solid place. They have kiosks for you to pay for your tickets instead of (gasp) buying it from a cashier, and you go up the escalator to reach the theatre rooms. You're greeted with a huge area dedicated to buying popcorn, and they serve poptopia too! You pick up your own 3D Glasses and walk into whichever room you're supposed to be in. There is also a section dedicated for kid's birthday parties with Po the Panda stickers all over the windows. Silvercity has a pretty large selection of movies compared to most theatres, so I prefer coming here. The theatre is spacious and the chairs are comfy, plus you can remove the armrest if you wish. This location reaches your basic expectations- good sound system, high quality graphics, and finally they actually have Timeplay! For a while I couldn't find a theatre with Timeplay, which sucks because I like winning free Scene points. I like this cinema in particular because it's super close to the TTC (Eglinton) and also within a mall so that you can browse while waiting for your show to start. As well, Silvercity is within walking distance to a variety of restaurants, so you can go eat lunch or dinner after the movie. Otherwise it's a standard Silvercity chain! read more

Before I start, I changed some info on this theatre's page so that nobody would get confused. Anyway, my father lives near this theatre, and IMO it looks alright. I remember when it used to be SilverCity before Cineplex came in and renovated everything in it, including adding a few VIP theatres and a VIP lounge. The concessions area is a bit small compared to others I visited, and the hallway is a bit long, even for 9 main theatres (including AVX). The most recent time I've been here is seeing "Toy Story 4" in AVX, and the theatre was alright, certainly no different from other Cineplex theatres out there, but a bit disappointed that there's only one men's washroom and two women's ones. Overall, my experience was average, not great, not horrible either, just a multiplex that's convenient for those who live near it. read more

I had the unfortunate experience of attending the 6:30pm showing of Tenet in VIP Cinema 3 on September 3 2020. After the screening ended I went to the ladies room and , to my dismay, after using the toilet I found the toilet tissue dispenser was empty. I was forced to find an alternative to toilet tissue. I mentioned the lack of toilet tissue with the manager as the lack of supplies in the washroom was a clear indication that standard maintenance procedures, let alone any COVID-19 related enhanced sanitization efforts were not being carried out in this facility. When I expressed my concerns to the manager They responded with an glazed over look and turned and walked away without even an acknowledgement that this situation was problematic. If you are considering attending a movie screening I strongly recommend that you reconsider attending a Cineplex Theatre. It has become obvious that this Cineplex location must be avoided at all costs to order to avoid the greatly increased risk of contracting COVID-19 as a result of the serious lack of maintenance and therefore sanitization at this location. My experience dealing with the management of the location indicated to me that they, and also possibly the Cineplex Corporotion as a whole, are much more concerned with maintaining immediate revenues over the long term sustainability of their business and, most importantly, that revenue is more important than the health and safety of their customers and staff members. Serving the midtown area this was my first visit to this cineplex. I had visited this cinema or was it the one half a block down under the Famous Player banner. My experience is limited to the ULTRA AVX theater. The seats are nice and comfy, the sound and picture are top notch and there is assigned seating. What is there not to like. My only qualm is that the ticketing area is kind of tight and there is hang around let alone sit here. A decent cinema to serve this area. read more

I have frequented this establishment a few times and each time I have been let down with their lack of service and poor food quality. I decided to finally write a review after several bad experiences - once or twice can be explained away with excuses, but constant and consistant lack of service and poor food quality merits a warning to others. I really like the idea of enjoying my food at the movies, and am willing to pay their exorbitant fees with the assumption that they provide the service they charge so much for. However the fact is that they have come up short. I will definitely not be coming back to Yonge Eglinton VIP Theatre. I'd much rather go out of my way to another theatre in hopes of better quality and service. read more

Full disclosure: This theatre is the closest to where I live. That said, I have been to a number of other theatres across the GTA and this one deserves to be tops. Within the hustle and bustle of the Yonge &Eglinton area, this theatre is extend beyond the basic operation of showing movies. Logistically, there is parking underground for the Yonge Eglinton Centre Mall.If you don't mind walking, you can park on some of the local streets for free but be prepared to walk at least one kilometre and of course, it's right above the Eglinton TTC station which will also be a future hub to the Eglinton Crosstwon LRT. As far as amenities, there is a games room for kids to spend some tokens and a party room if you want to host a birthday or special event. For the movie buff, there is an Ultra AVX screen that is also equipped with D-Box seating for those wanting to add chair motion to their viewing experience. If you want some extra comfort and have some extra money in the spending budget, they opened three VIP theatres late in 2015 with large recliner seating and in-chair food delivery service. Just like every other Cineplex, Tuesdays are half price and they have a VIP date night on Wednesdays where $56 (tax incl.) gets you two VIP movie passes and two entrees. This location has it all and in one convenient (for me) location. read more

My friend accidentally got a ticket online for somewhere else when we actually wanted to go to this branch. The manager here was quick and efficient to handle this issue by refunding the original tickets and helping us to get the ones available at this theatre. We were lucky to watch the movie on time without having to kill time as there was one with a similar start time and I couldn't thank him enough. read more

This theater is good, but not the best. I find myself coming here to catch a flick more often because of the location. They're plenty of restaurants, shops, bookstores around to keep you occupied before and after the movie. Also, the theater is right off the Eglinton subway station. The theater is generally empty during the day, but in the evenings and weekends it can be crowded with loud teenagers. The staff here I've always experienced to be friendly and efficient. This is not a very big theater, has nice clear and big screens, comfortable seats, the sound system is good but too loud for my personal taste. They also have decent self-serve ticket machines which helps beat the crazy line-ups during busy hours. The popcorn stand is a bit understaffed which makes lines slow and long, long, long! If you're planning on purchasing popcorn before your movie, give yourself some extra time. Also, I would recommend people to come here by subway if they can, the parking here can be troublesome and annoying at times. read more

There's nothing here that really makes this location stand out, it's generally got good movies playing, it's at a very convenient location connected to the subway and it's got enough places around it that a night of dinner along with a movie leaves you with many options or if you need to kill time there is a Chapters right there. It's got a pretty nice yet prone to overcrowding box office/lobby area but I like the fact that once you go up the escalators it's all concessions and movie theatres. Like many Cineplex theatres it now features Ultra AVX which offers better seats, bigger screens and reserved seating for a premium, I haven't been to the AVX here to say if it's screen size is large enough to be worth it, but I've always been a fan of the sound on Ultra AVX theatres. There are no spectacular concession options here either but after a couple of encounters with the staff I can say that they are efficient and friendly. So overall this location gives you a decent movie watching experience without trying too hard to make that experience exceptional. read more

This movie theatre participates in the Stars and Strollers Program. What's Stars and Strollers? It's pretty much some afternoon matinees for mommies. There's Stroller parking, just outside the cinema, and they have change tables set up in the theatre. They pick one or 2 movies a week to participate. It's also supposed to be a little brighter in there, than normal movies, which I didn't notice. But it's great to be able to see the world and do something with baby in tow and no one minds if there's a baby crying...you kind of sign up for that. I give it 3 stars because the elevator taking the strollers to the theatre only takes one stroller at a time, so this is a bit inefficient. read more

THI IS THE BEST VIP EVER!!!! My wife (who now won't go to normal screens anymore) and I have been to the VIP screens at Manulife 4/10, Dundas Square 8/10 and here 10/10. The f@#king seats RECLINE!! Like with a button that does it for you, like in a BMW or something. This place makes me never want to go to the crumby Manulife Centre again. However, the walk from the entrance of the movie theatre to our screen was like I was the star in Mazerunner. We always get the same food, poutine, Jalapeno poppers and a burger. The food is OK, nothing special, but just as good as any corporate place like Jack's or Moxie's. It's expensive though :( read more

I like how with some theatres the concession is inside so you don't have to worry about keeping your ticket. Washrooms were renovated so they look better. Standard theatre, I go there purely for location's sake as I live close by but that's about the only reason. While I have pleasant visits, I have also experienced rude and inexperienced staff who see no need to mend their mistakes... Instead they say "oh sorry, maybe next time then" which is infuriating. WORST PART: They never pick up the phone... Any questions or concerns about the theatre lead to a dead-end phone call. read more

Came here for VIP for the first time because no other place was playing London Has Fallen in the reclining chairs. (So thank you!) I usually go to the Don Mills locations because it's closer to my home and there's free parking in the vicinity. The VIP area is pretty standard. It just takes a while to get from the entrance to the theatre room. The bathrooms are well kept and the service is good. Before entering, the staff asked my husband and I for ID, which never happened at Don Mills. It was fine - standard protocol. It might be hard for the under aged to sneak in ;). Minus one star because I hate looking for parking. If there's complimentary parking that I don't know of, please let me know. read more

With a fanciful name like SilverCity, you'd expect a large expansive movie complex catering to every whim that you have, theatres everywhere with ample seating, and a selection of films to satisfy even the most fickle. Sadly, SilverCity at Yonge and Eglinton has a dulled version of these trappings and is presented as a place to see movies, rather than an entertainment complex. As accommodating as the staff are, I've yet to get there when there isn't a line-up at the by-today's-standards-small concession stands. Admittedly caused by a lack of floor space, the snack bar becomes crowded easily and can cause unfortunate delays in getting movie provisions. The theatres themselves are smaller in scale, but still have all the trappings of a decent movie theatre (big screen, adequate sound system, etc.). One thing that it does have in its favour is the location. Being at Yonge and Eglinton, it's easy to book-end the evening with a meal at the many restaurants and bars, or head off to see a live comedy show at Absolute Comedy (http://www.yelp.ca/biz/absolute-comedy-toronto) if the film you hoped would be a romantic comedy you witnessed turned out to be neither. read more

Concession prices are bs as usual( Who can justify $20 for a popcorn and watered-down Pepsi..?) If what you want is a decent movie theater though, I would pick this one. Another disappointing movie experience at Cineplex. This time they've put new seats in but they're too narrow and damn uncomfortable. I'm an average sized man and I was cramped between my companions. If they'd been strangers I would have walked out. Also no air conditioning so a packed theatre on a Saturday night and we were all stifling. If that wasn't enough the overhead lights wouldn't dim and at full strength are very bright. Eventually they just turned them off. And if that wasn't enough the parking machine by the box office didn't work so parking was $38. Best advice.. Stay home. The glory days of movies in a theatre are over. Cineplex knows this which is why they have replaced cashiers with electronic kiosks. Oh joy. read more

I love this place and usually concession stand customer service is top notch. But for some reason yesterday night through me off. I wanted to get a drink in the middle of my movie and it was not busy at all at the concession stand. So I am standing there waiting and 6 employees were talking about something and ignoring me. I waved and shouted hello and finally an employee came over and was still having a conversation with another employee while serving me. Thanks but I missed about 5 minutes of the movie because of that. On a good note I always make an attempt to see a movie about once a month. I love this place as there are many good places to go and eat out afterwards around. Other than the concession stand experience I really love it here. read more

Came here today for the new Hangover movie for our anniversary. It was the worst Stars and Strollers experience yet. They are doing construction in the area and we could not find an elevator to use to get to the correct level. We even went to a security desk in a connecting building to ask for help and he told us to walk all the way around (with Chris with his cane and me with the stroller) when we could've used the elevator JUST AROUND THE CORNER from his desk...we ended up having to break down the stroller to bring it up an escalator. Also, the Cineplex website specifically states a $2 discount will be applied to tickets purchased for the showing if you bring an infant. The discount was only applied to my ticket. My husband had to pay full price...even after he brought it up with the employee, he refused to give him the discount too. AND, their "elevator" only fit 1 stroller at a time!
