I paid $3000 for this company to paint my kitchen cabinets. But they never returned for that final step, and, as a result, the cabinets look shoddy. I was concerned about removing his existing / original sink for fear of the Formica countertops and lower cabinets breaking. James came out to look at the sink & see what could be done with either an acid wash or reglazing. Not only did he show for his appointment on time and as scheduled, he was able to work on the kitchen sink right then and there. The sink looks brand new again & my dad kept commenting he wished he had done this years ago! James also put things in perspective for us saying a replacement sink would have been difficult, as the original install sink was a custom size. All of this and for less pricing than another contractor quoted to replace the sink with a new one! Jim and Andrea were the last company to give us a quote for a fairly complex floor refinish/install and thank goodness for our perseverance. Our pre-finished builder grade Bruce hardwood had a pretty good bevel, multiple spots on the floors were worn through the finish from previous owners' dogs, there was some inconsistency with the install that occurred 20 years ago when the house was built, not to mention water damage and we wanted to add hardwood where there was carpet in the family room. We were beginning to lose hope with previous 4 quotes ranging from "we can do it, but..." to a disheartening quote from a well known local company that is considered high standard in this area. I'll name drop simply because others feel compelled to name drop on their critical reviews. My quote from Ziggy's consisted of Ziggy wandering into my open garage and knocking not at my front door, but at my garage door. It was him coming in and basically saying I can't do anything you're asking for. He said, "you can't sand that bevel out, you'll end up with uneven finish and splinters, it will splinter. I've been doing this for 30 years and I teach this stuff. You can't sand out that bevel." He said this even as the other three quotes to this point indicated it was absolutely possible. "You won't be able to make the new floors look like they belong with the old floors." Also not true. Aside from spending half of the quote touting his credentials, Ziggy was also very dismissive of anything we had in mind and simply told us what he envisioned with our floors; it felt as though he didn't listen at all and was only quoting us for what he was willing to do. 10 min after his arrival, he was gone and we were on to the next...we were frustrated because we were being told by one professional who had good ratings that it was impossible to complete this job and then by three other companies that they wouldn't be able to do what we were asking...but could do it half ass for x amount. Boy, were they ALL wrong. Jim and Andrea came into our home with a keen eye and plenty of recommendations for a perfect finish and they quoted us to ensure the floor was done correctly. They were here for about 45 minutes to really get a feel for what it was we wanted to accomplish and to visualize it with us. It wasn't a matter of IF we wanted it done correctly or knew enough to ensure we asked about having it done correctly, they simply said "we can do anything you want, but this is how you do what you're asking for." They were very reassuring that our situation was not unique as others had made us feel. Jim, who I learned is a MASTER in his field and actively trains his peers (he received multiple phone calls while on our job from other flooring professionals with text pictures asking how he would properly complete a job and he even lent tools to another peer who had a tool break in the field) in this field, not simply high school wood shop. He did a GREAT job explaining the process both before and during the refinishing/install process. I also found that although he doesn't like to brag about his education and training, he has more cumulative hours on very specific finishing methods than most do on flooring in general (upwards of 16k hours). Couple all of this expertise with the fact that we didn't have to move out of our house for a week or more and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Our floors have been finished for over a month now and I have recommended Jim and Andrea by mouth to close friends in the market for floor refinishing. It took them coming over once to see our floors to convince them to give Jim and Andrea a call. If you're getting frustrated with quotes that you've been given or you've had a bad experience with a nightmare refinish, give them a call! I can't recommend them highly enough. See before and afters below (no splinters and the shadow lines prove it's perfectly even!).

***editing my review because the owner of the company seems intent on NOT taking responsibility for…read moretheir failure. We followed every instruction on the "leave behind" sheet. We did not put hot objects directly on the counter or leave liquid for extended periods of time (more than 2 minutes). We followed the cleaning instructions carefully (only cleaning with soap and water). Still, the sealant failed within 3 weeks and when we alerted them of this, they wanted to charge us money to have the counters redone. It doesn't make sense to use a kitchen sealer than cannot handle a few minutes of water without staining, and then to do it a second time makes less sense. Additionally, if a company does not deliver results, it should not be up to the customer to give them more money when they can't even trust that it will not fail the second time around. In fact, I think the sealant they used made our counters WORSE as we lived at our house for a year and a half, and the stains did not appear as quickly as they did with this new sealer. Also, it's very telling of a company that tries to make excuses instead of working with the costumer to fix their mistake. Extremely disappointed with the work and the response. This is not a trustworthy company as they actually made our countertops worse and are now refusing to fix the issues. We hired this company to refinish and reseal our concrete kitchen countertops. Within three weeks, white rings began appearing underneath ordinary drinking glasses after they had been sitting on the countertop for only a few minutes. When we contacted the company, we were told that this was essentially our fault. The rings were "etching" because we hadn't properly followed instructions. They then told us that the countertops would need to be rehoned and resealed at our expense. We followed the care instructions we were given, including cleaning with soap and water. At no point were we clearly told that normal use of a kitchen counter (I.e. such as placing a glass of water on the countertop) could cause visible damage, or that coasters would essentially be required every time we placed down a drinking glass. Had we been given that information beforehand, we would not have proceeded with the refinishing. What is especially unacceptable is that the company told us the proposed restoration would involve the same process and same type of sealer, while simultaneously telling us we would need to use coasters and prevent liquids from sitting on the surface to avoid the same issue happening again. We understand that concrete is porous and that no sealer is perfect, but a newly refinished kitchen countertop developing visible rings from ordinary use within three weeks is not what we reasonably expected when paying for professional refinishing. We are extremely disappointed with both the work and the company's response. Rather than standing behind the service, the company ultimately maintained that the work was completed properly and that correcting the issue would be our financial responsibility. I cannot recommend this company. If you are considering hiring them, ask very specific questions about how the finished surface can be used and get every limitation and expectation in writing before you pay for the work.
