Great little stop in a small town!! They were super kind and the food was soooo good!

High quality large burger was $7.50, and what appear to be homemade cheese curds were delicious. You can choose grass fed burger too. We are so glad we found this place and plan to stop on our future travels to try the pizza burger corn nuggets, funnel fries, and ice cream. The place was very clean and so were the restrooms. Exceeded my expectations for a quick lunch while driving across South Dakota. My milkshake was perfect, hot wings delicious, it was my first time trying broasted potatoes. Yummy!! My husband loved his cheeseburger with the home raised beef. The restaurant was spotless clean and entire staff friendly. Disappointing. Must be new owners Apple Maps calls it something else and says it's permanently closed. For my family of four that only ordered TWO ITEMS per person the bill was $44. Again, each person ordered two items, not a "meal" but everyone averaged $11 /person.., WTF!?!? We will be stopping here again to eat! It's not very well marked, but it's worth finding in Murdo! Such a clean, nice drive-in, with dine in option! We were greeted by the sweetest little guys, who took our order and were so polite! Out food was fresh and delicious! We had burgers and fries which did not disappoint, but I have to mention the Cheese Curds.... OMG... the best I've ever eaten!!!! Gee some. We stopped here during our first week of a three month tour of the USA. These were the best burgers we ever ate, the meat was so fresh and the portions were perfect. Fun place to eat with lots of options! I wasn't that hungry so I just got a $4 pizza pocket since it was the closest thing they had to a pizza puff. It was quite tasty and pretty close to a pizza puff. The pizza burger sounds interesting, too. They also had many options for ice cream, slushes, cyclones and shakes. Great people and excellent customer service! We arrived ten minutes before opening and they asked us to come and wait inside. The restrooms were very clean. The food was freshly prepared. We had the special, a pork belly burger (local grass/grain finished). The place is family owned and operated. They even hire local high school and college kids. I talked to the owner's father. His daughter has owned the place for twelve years and has constantly kept improving the place. You got to admire the pride and ethics of hard working people that are friendly and genuinely love what they do for others. Murdo's drive in is probably your best bet, heck your only bet when you're stopping for gas in Murdo. The area is practically a ghost town with a population of 609 people. The burgers at Murdo are definitely better than McDonald's, Burger King and any other fast food chain out there. I like that they offer a variety of nugget options. They had Mac and cheese bites, jalapeño bites and even broccoli bites! (Get cha fiber on!!) The food doesn't taste processed or fake at all, you can tell you're eating real food and that it's made by hand. Prices are very reasonable for what you're getting, given the fact that it's real food and it tastes decent too. And for that, I can't complain but be thankful that this place exists. read more

T'was in the darkest depths of Murdo, I met a Drive-In so fair... For those of you who get the lyrical reference, yes, we were in the middle of nowhere South Dakota, having just completed a sunset tour of the Badlands from west to east, and we needed a meal. Things looked bleak. Mordor bleak. AND, we didn't realize we had crossed over from Mountain Time to Central Standard Time, and NOTHING was open in Murdo for a quick bite to eat, especially as it wasn't 10 after 9pm, it was 10 after 10pm when we got off the interstate. EXCEPT this little drive through that advertised "GREAT FOOD." Never eat at a place that says it has great food, as it is never the case. The Murdo Drive-in is the clear exception, it does have GREAT FOOD, and we were so glad to have stumbled into it. Murdo Drive-In is worth stopping into ANYTIME you are on I-90 going to or from Rapid City or the Badlands or Minuteman Missile. This place has the friendliest darn people, and they make great, tasty fast food with accommodating ease. We arrived, desperate for a meal at 1015pm, on July 3rd. Most of the tables had been cleaned and stacked, and I bet they had started scrubbing the grills down for the night as it was 15 minutes before closing when we walked in. No problem we were told. They made our burger, hot dogs, grilled cheese sandwiches, fries and onion rings, let us stay past closing time to eat our meal, and then sent us on our way with ice cream cones on the house. This just doesn't happen in many places anymore. You don't find this kind of warmth, quality fast food and variety at a chain restaurant. Skip McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's and Subway, and stop here to support a fine local business. You won't be disappointed, in fact you will be THRILLED with the food and the service. read more

We were driving back home cross country from Glacier NP to KY. There just isn't a lot between major cities in western States. We were starving after spending the morning hiking in the badlands. Found this place after stopping at multiple other restaurants, walking in and saying NOPE. Small place with seating inside/out and a drive through. Surprisingly varied menu. We had grass fed burgers, fish sandwiches, fries, onion rings, jalapeño poppers, corn nuggets, fried macaroni and ice cream cones. There were only 3 of us. We ate like kings for 55$ Food was great quality. Service was great. You can't find a better place in a town called Murdo. Stop and eat here if you drive by. Whole family loved it. Portions were great, prices are very reasonable, there's something for everyone. It's a cute little building decked out in bright orange, blue, and white. You can dine inside or out. The entire staff was welcoming and so polite. Outstanding customer service. We had various bacon cheeseburgers, chicken sandwich, hot dogs, fries, and onion rings that were all delicious. You just have to try ice cream with the rhubarb sauce, the owners mother makes it with their own or local rhubarb and it's to die for! We truly appreciate such wonderful service and food. We tried a lot of stuff off the menu- a burger, jalapeño poppers, fries, pizza pocket, and a corn dog. They have broasted chicken, tacos, salads and other sandwiches too. Best of all, they have sundaes, shakes, malts & cyclones (like DQ blizzards). The place is clean, including rest rooms. This is the kind of place that reminds me why I love road trips. Lots of local flavor in the food and the people. We enjoyed nachos, taco salad, a great BLT, and of course the ice cream. The location is fun and a nearby neighbor let us stake our dog out in his shade while we ate.
