Not like Circle of old, buuuuuuuut glad it's back!!!! Circle often imitated for example Circle H or Circle K... Really #whatthewhat!?!?? But never duplicated; because Circle is an original, a staple, a landmark in the Community & New Orleans at large. Washed out by Hurricane Katrina & recently renovated & re-opened January 2014; Circle Food Store is open for business. Journeying in the store, I was filled with emotions & anticipation of what would fill my eyes upon entry. Different from preKatrina Circle, the space seems smaller, maybe it because it's more organized & detailed, but whatever the reason, #ilikeit. Streamlined check out lanes, a dedicated side counter/bill paying area that appears to handle a barrage of functions; did I see kids toys over yonder? Walking in there's security in place, gives a good feeling. The produce is square front & center; how sweet is that, that helps to encourage #healthyeating. Further back are upright refrigerated units & then to the rear is the meat/deli area. I must admit, the meat/deli area was a little lackluster, but oh well. When I initially walked in, I thought it to be likened to a mini-whole foods store; I only mention it for the sake of comparison. But after perusing the store, that feeling fled & Circle took on and identity of its own. I did notice that the price points were quite moderate. Great for the area. Lots of foot traffic on this day I entered & that's great!!!! I'm glad this facility has been reopened to service the community's grocery need My one wish is to see Easter Baskets lining the exterior perimeter of the store like days of old.

Circle Food Store this is the best store in New Orleans. I would never buy groceries from anywhere else unless they don't have what I want. Great low prices. Great selection of prices. Very well managed. Locally owned no I mean really local. Why would anyone from New Orleans or surrounding area go anywhere else for groceries. Visitors owe it to them selves to see real NO grocery. This is it THE CIRCLE As it is known. Owe did I mention that I am the owner

Great to see them open again. Lots of good times there growing up. I know the community appreciates the rebirth.

You gotta come to fresh market on Thursdays for the $5 bistro meals!!! (Beware they do sell out of…read moresome items.) They also have a hot plate meal where you can get a rotisserie chicken, two sides, and 6 rolls - feed 4-6 people. (Perfect amount for 3 people sized family in my opinion.). Depends on the portion sizes your family eats. Either way, great last minute meal ideas after a long day of work. Or for your lunch break! The workers are all really polite here, but the checkout line is not fast so make sure to get a basket or cart to make waiting in line easier. It is always clean in here, and they always have lots of fresh produce. Plus a convenient parking lot.

This has always been my 'go to' specialty market in NOLA…read more The vibe is good, creative offerings and just a very pleasant, upscale place to shop. The staff, especially at checkout, always seem to be friendly and upbeat, which is nice. The pre-prepared foods, snacks, drink choices, bakery and deli are typically better than most, sometimes better than the larger Whole Foods on Magazine St. here. And, they have an amazing floral section at the back entrance. There's a convenient parking lot that wraps around the back and downtown side of the building, but the spaces can be tight, especially with a SUV size vehicle. This time I grabbed some coffee, bread, brownies, and wine. Unfortunately, I found many of the aisles and sections not stocked very well. The bakery section had very little product as did several other places. Just empty bins and shelves. Hmmmm? It is the beginning of Mardi Gras season so plenty of King Cake and specialty vodka. Nonetheless, I do like this store. Fun fact- this used to be the Bultman Funeral Home, in a classic building on the corner of St. Charles and Louisiana Streets. Yes, indeed, a mortuary as well.
