So Rouses is Louisiana's version of H-E-B? If you've been to Texas, you'll understand the reference. As far as I'm concerned, it is, somewhat. While it doesn't have an extravagant wine selection or a plethora of charcuterie boards, it does have it's own style of eats readily available. The hot foods bar contains options such as gumbo, BBQ ribs, collard greens, and mac n cheese; all the delicious fixings you'd expect to find in the south. Sushi and boudin are also available and quite tasty! I'm also a fan of their chicken tenders; while chilled, just microwave and dip in that honey mustard! And of course, their crawfish/meat pies; I'm a sucker for those! I usually get one (and usually two) of them whenever I'm at a Rouses. Probably explains all the weight I've gained every time I visit the state of Louisiana. Make sure you visit any kind of Rouses when you're in Louisiana; especially this one being in the heart of NOLA. It's within walking distance of nearly all hotels. read more

I don't frequent Rouses as much as I used to but I do go here from time to time for local items that I can't get at other stores. The prices here are pretty consistently high but I suppose that's just the new normal. The service is usually pretty standard. I'll likely be at a rouses again within the next few months. read more

I love the fact of this market was one block from the virgin hotel I was staying at. Rather than spend four dollars for a can of Coke I'd rather spend $1.99 for the liter of Dr Pepper! I really wasn't sure what the market was all about and didn't realize it really had everything that I was looking for including fresh fruit, watermelon, chips and toiletries, including the Cetaphil soap, Native deodorant, that I love. I even got some cajun fried shrimp and seafood pasta taster. The layout seemed well organized and the signs with prices clearly labeled. I always enjoy coming here. The staff is helpful, the store is spotless, and the omelets are the real reason I keep showing up. They make them right in front of you and they're honestly the best omelet you'll ever have. The cook is so sweet too. And yes, I did spot a few little friends running around outside. It's downtown New Orleans. If you know, you know. Nothing shocking. Just get there early, because the weekday line starts at 7 a.m. and this place is worth beating the crowd. read more

Whenever we visit New Orleans. I always make a stop at Rouses Market. They offer a lot of unique food options on the go. I love getting some fresh gulf shrimp cooked. It's one of the best ways to taste some good shrimp vs. eating at the restaurants. I got to say all the Rouses brand products are amazing. For example all their chips, drinks, and foods. Their Cheeto brand chips with Cajun flavor is a must. Too bad I didn't have too much bag space to take it back to Los Angeles. All I got to say is do buy their seasonings if you get a chance. The Cajun rub was a hit for me. I smoked some chicken thigh meat when I got home from our trip and used it right away. It was way better than some of the name brands I ordered from elsewhere. Next time I'm back. I'm loading up on the spices for sure. The beer aisle is vast too. I always come and buy something that I never tired before. read more

I've never been to this type of grocery store before, but it honestly reminds me of a Whole Foods with a home feeling from California! There were a number of handmade items that were made fresh in the store/daily as well as a delicious looking deli department with fresh salads, Food for takeout, fish and sushi as well as Boba! Their bakery department looked delicious as well!! We walked a couple blocks down from our hotel to get some ingredients I needed for my morning daily smoothie and man I wish I brought bags with me to buy food or have lunch here!! I paid a visit to a local market in New Orleans called Rouses. Although I do not live here, whenever I am in the city I always go to the market. I was specifically looking for a smoked meat called Tasso and smoked sausage. The market was in an odd spot in the city. This location made me feel like I was in a specialty type of market. So much to look at in this store. Everything was arranged so nicely. The produce was colorful and fresh. They had a well stocked alcohol section. I still cannot get over some states selling liquor in the market. Georgia can you get with the program please? My purpose for going in there was to find some smoked Tasso meat. I found the chicken kind and only one pack of pork. I quickly grilled 6 packs and some smoked sausage. There is no question the Louisiana has some of the best smoked meats. I have no co.plaonts about the structure or the store except the lighting needs to be brighter in the meat section. Other than that it's all gravy. read more

This market is awesome for picking up Louisiana-only staples. I went here my first time in New Orleans and this time, my hotel was only 2 blocks away! They have an excellent selection of Zapps chips as well as seafood boil spice packets and coffee. The staff here are so nice and so helpful if you have any questions or need help. read more

I went to the rouses on Frerect and the employees were extremely rude. The employee who checked me out yelled at little old me that i Was next and needed to hurry up! It was astonishing! Then the employe ( black short hair they had glasses) had the audacity to scold me for not handing them the money and instead putting it down. They were so passive aggressive and clearly rouses does not hire their workers well because the attitude that I experienced was way below expectations. They even rolled their eyes at me! This location is an actual grocery store as opposed to the little market near my house. It's big, spacious, and clean. In addition to groceries and produce there is a coffee bar, salad bar, hot food bar, gelato station, deli, meat, & seafood counters, bakery, and even an omelet bar. I was impressed and a bit overwhelmed. Unlike Whole Foods or Erewhon, the prices aren't inflated. I came here on a Sunday morning and people were getting their breakfast from the hot food bar and ordering omelets. You can come here to shop or eat. This store is near the Superdome, so it's convenient to stop by and pick up your tailgating essentials. read more

We had a wait for a prescription at CVS and decided to check out Rouses. A very nice grocery store. They have Mardi Gras items too. A great place to pick up Abita products including root beer. There is a deli and some great cheeses too. Pick up some Steens syrup - great for Brussell Sprouts and other vegetables too. read more

We drove by Rouses multiple times in recent weeks and were wanting to stop by to check it out! Its centrally located to downtown & when you are inside, hardly seems like it, which is a great quality to have! Theres an outside parking lot as well as a parking garage seems like, super close to the Superdome. Rouses has everything you can think of for groceries & essentials, with hot food to take for a quick lunch or dinner at home, an omelette bar, daily specials for lunch time, and a delicious bakery as well. We opted for the smores king cake that they made in house & it was so delicious (like a big cinnamon roll!) and are looking forward to tasting other treats they have. The store is well lighted, maintained, almost like a Whole Foods vibe to it, & the staff seem helpful. read more

I live down the street from this grocery store so I'm literally in here three times a week for different items needed for my family. I basically know most of the staff there and they know my son by name. Lol it's always clean and tidy and they just stepped it up by adding a NEW Starbucks inside the grocery store. They used to have their own Rouses café with pastries and coffee, etc. but now it's a fresh new beautiful Starbucks!! Love this for my neighborhood grocery store!! read more

I believe this is one of very few large supermarkets in the area, it has a large car parking lot in the front so finding a parking will not be an issue. The supermarket has everything and I mean everything that you might need , it is very well stocked - fruit, veggies, meats, fish, hygiene items, plants, flowers, bread, sweets, very large and I mean very extensive large array of alcohol and lots of pre-made sandwiches and other to go meals/items. Pizza that you can just pop to an oven, some good stuff. Please check prices on sale and if they ring correctly, I purchased apples that rang incorrect price making them $6 more expensive but the manager took care of the issue right away. Also, some items on sale were no available like hummus. I am from SF but I found the prices to be high. CC accepted. read more

Definitely a more bougie Rouses than, say, the one in Mid-City or the French Quarter. I'm rating it as good because it could be better. My expectation would be that I could find access to more organic and vegan items but the selection is paltry and hasn't improved since it opened years ago. It's a little surprising. I have been to this location 4 times now. The grocery itself is nice and new but the staffing is insane. Every time I have gone I have had to wait 10-15 minutes at the meat and seafood counter to get simple orders. One guy typically will notice after 5 minutes or so and walk over to let me know that he is not the guy I need and that the other guy may not even be here. Since eating out in New Orleans can get pretty pricey even for California standards, this supermarket is an excellent way to keep on a budget and save $$ while on vacation May 2023. I arrived late at night and luckily they are open from 6:00am till 11:00pm. I got a whole rack of ribs the first day which was delicious that I back came on Friday to have it again. They have a special ribs on Fridays so be sure to check it out. I also tried the cooked crawfish, which you scoop it yourself in a plastic bag. It is located in the back, near the seafood in a cooler and it was steaming hot, set out around 5pm. I liked their flavoring of their cooked food since it is to my liking since I found restaurant food in the area is too spicy for me. I was able to pair the cooked food with mac and cheese, potato salad from the deli, salad, cooked corn, or bread. They also have breakfast food or tacos available in the service area in the back of the store. Best of all, you can eat it indoors in an area towards the pathways to the right of the registers. Be sure to ask for a fork or spoon to eat your meal. Bring your own plastic knife to cut your ribs! read more

Wonderful grocery store if you're going to be in New Orleans for several days and maybe not want to eat out in restaurants breakfast, lunch, dinner! For the first two or three years we end up buying drinks and snacks at CVS, Walgreens or a convenience store near the hotel. And they all cost a ton and don't really have all that much to pick from. I was really happy to accidentally find Rouses Market when I was at a restaurant nearby. Ever since then we visit Rouses Market on the first day we arrive in town. It's so much more convenient to pick up a 6-pack of soda, a bottle of wine, some crackers and cold cuts to keep in our hotel refrigerator. And even though it is convenient, it's not a convenience store; it's a small grocery store. So we were able to stop by for fruit other things we decided we needed during our visits. Tiny but tidy marketplace tucked away in the warehouse district. I was staying locally in the warehouse district on a recent trip, and I went out, looking for some groceries to bring back to the room. I stumbled upon this grocery store across the street from a CVS, and it is a bit unassuming from the outside but once you step inside it's a full-fledged supermarket. The isles were all neatly laid out. The assortment of goods and foods all looked very tasty and organized pretty well. I also wanted to get a little bit of the Louisiana flare, which they had in spades. They definitely felt very local and not big box, in the product they had in stock.
