I always enjoy coming here. The staff is helpful, the store is spotless, and the omelets are the real reason I keep showing up. They make them right in front of you and they're honestly the best omelet you'll ever have. The cook is so sweet too. And yes, I did spot a few little friends running around outside. It's downtown New Orleans. If you know, you know. Nothing shocking. Just get there early, because the weekday line starts at 7 a.m. and this place is worth beating the crowd.

I've never been to this type of grocery store before, but it honestly reminds me of a Whole Foods with a home feeling from California! There were a number of handmade items that were made fresh in the store/daily as well as a delicious looking deli department with fresh salads, Food for takeout, fish and sushi as well as Boba! Their bakery department looked delicious as well!! We walked a couple blocks down from our hotel to get some ingredients I needed for my morning daily smoothie and man I wish I brought bags with me to buy food or have lunch here!! The way the store set up is very clean and organized and I was very impressed!! I will definitely come back to this particular grocery chain again!!

I paid a visit to a local market in New Orleans called Rouses. Although I do not live here, whenever I am in the city I always go to the market. I was specifically looking for a smoked meat called Tasso and smoked sausage. The market was in an odd spot in the city. This location made me feel like I was in a specialty type of market. So much to look at in this store. Everything was arranged so nicely. The produce was colorful and fresh. They had a well stocked alcohol section. I still cannot get over some states selling liquor in the market. Georgia can you get with the program please? My purpose for going in there was to find some smoked Tasso meat. I found the chicken kind and only one pack of pork. I quickly grilled 6 packs and some smoked sausage. There is no question the Louisiana has some of the best smoked meats. I have no co.plaonts about the structure or the store except the lighting needs to be brighter in the meat section. Other than that it's all gravy.

What?!? I can't believe it took me two years at five day visits to find this place! Such a fabulous high-end grocery store with premade meals and regular groceries as well super clean super awesome just absolute gem! And they carry some fun items we don't see outside of NOLA.?

This location is an actual grocery store as opposed to the little market near my house. It's big, spacious, and clean. In addition to groceries and produce there is a coffee bar, salad bar, hot food bar, gelato station, deli, meat, & seafood counters, bakery, and even an omelet bar. I was impressed and a bit overwhelmed. Unlike Whole Foods or Erewhon, the prices aren't inflated. I came here on a Sunday morning and people were getting their breakfast from the hot food bar and ordering omelets. You can come here to shop or eat. This store is near the Superdome, so it's convenient to stop by and pick up your tailgating essentials.

    Cute bakery section!

We drove by Rouses multiple times in recent weeks and were wanting to stop by to check it out! Its centrally located to downtown & when you are inside, hardly seems like it, which is a great quality to have! Theres an outside parking lot as well as a parking garage seems like, super close to the Superdome. Rouses has everything you can think of for groceries & essentials, with hot food to take for a quick lunch or dinner at home, an omelette bar, daily specials for lunch time, and a delicious bakery as well. We opted for the smores king cake that they made in house & it was so delicious (like a big cinnamon roll!) and are looking forward to tasting other treats they have. The store is well lighted, maintained, almost like a Whole Foods vibe to it, & the staff seem helpful.

The NEW Starbucks inside the grocery store that just opened!

I live down the street from this grocery store so I'm literally in here three times a week for different items needed for my family. I basically know most of the staff there and they know my son by name. Lol it's always clean and tidy and they just stepped it up by adding a NEW Starbucks inside the grocery store. They used to have their own Rouses café with pastries and coffee, etc. but now it's a fresh new beautiful Starbucks!! Love this for my neighborhood grocery store!!

It's huge, air-conditioned, secure, well-appointed, and open until 11pm. Having them near our hotel made our trip way better. It's a Whole Foods without the whole price.

Ask the Community - Rouses Market

What time does the pizza bar close?

Where is the hot food bar?

If you enter the store at the Baronne Corner (not the parking lot side), it's just past the produce and there are a couple of stations to choose from.

They also have a hot plate meal where you can get a rotisserie chicken, two sides, and 6 rolls - feed 4-6 people. (Perfect amount for 3 people sized family in my opinion.). Depends on the portion sizes your family eats. Either way, great last minute meal ideas after a long day of work. Or for your lunch break! The workers are all really polite here, but the checkout line is not fast so make sure to get a basket or cart to make waiting in line easier. The staff, especially at checkout, always seem to be friendly and upbeat, which is nice. The pre-prepared foods, snacks, drink choices, bakery and deli are typically better than most, sometimes better than the larger Whole Foods on Magazine St. here. And, they have an amazing floral section at the back entrance. There's a convenient parking lot that wraps around the back and downtown side of the building, but the spaces can be tight, especially with a SUV size vehicle. This time I grabbed some coffee, bread, brownies, and wine. Unfortunately, I found many of the aisles and sections not stocked very well. The bakery section had very little product as did several other places. Just empty bins and shelves. Hmmmm? It is the beginning of Mardi Gras season so plenty of King Cake and specialty vodka. Nonetheless, I do like this store. Fun fact- this used to be the Bultman Funeral Home, in a classic building on the corner of St. Charles and Louisiana Streets. Yes, indeed, a mortuary as well.

During the first week of January, my lifelong friend visited Plush Appeal to purchase Mardi Gras decor for her out of state home. We are natives of New Orleans and were raised with the proper etiquette and respect for ourselves, others and community. We are proud graduates of an affluent Catholic high school and our class of women has made quite a positive impact in this world collectively. With that said, as my friend was shopping she interacted with one of the sales associates and had a lovely conversation. This particular sales associate then left the area. Within minutes two other sales associates approached my friend, accused her of stealing, and when my friend attempted to clear her name and prove her innocence, these women refused. They stated she was on camera and despite my friend asking multiple times for proof and to view the cameras, she was again refused her request. Apparently, two large men were then instructed to escort her out to which she stated she felt extremely uncomfortable. Several of her friends have reached out to the store. Ms. Vee was so nice! CeeCee though ... the manager... when I called to ask for clarification she became nasty and hung up. Long story short, nothing was stolen. If that were the case why not call the police or show the video? Most importantly to note are the differences in skin tones. My friend is an upper class African American female who was seemingly targeted for the color of her skin. Take your business elsewhere!

I had previously asked if I could leave my basket near the register while I drove home to retrieve it, and an associate kindly said I could leave it there for about 20 minutes -- the time it would take for me to return home and back. As I walked back to my car, I checked for any cash and found only $10. When I returned to the store, I let the associate know that I would put back some of the frozen and cold items and would leave and come back later to complete my purchase. I recently moved to New Orleans and usually keep a credit card in my car specifically for Walmart trips, but not this time. That's when Floor Manager, Erin, stepped in... she overheard the conversation and said, "wait...we can figure this out so you don't have to leave and come back." I was both surprised and incredibly grateful. Erin asked if I knew my card number, and when I said yes, she guided me through downloading the Walmart app step-by-step -- all while multitasking and assisting other associates with their questions and assigning employees to registers for employee breaks. We encountered an error with the app, but instead of giving up, Erin continued troubleshooting with me. She asked smart, specific questions, and eventually identified the problem: my credit card still had my old address. Once we updated it to reflect my new New Orleans address, everything worked perfectly. Erin even took me to a separate register to test the card with a small transaction -- and it was successful! I returned to a regular register to complete my full grocery purchase, but I won't forget Erin's kindness and professionalism. Please know that you have a permanent customer in me, and I'll always be looking for Erin to say a quick "hi" during my visits. As a retired executive, I can confidently say that Erin's dedication, patience, and problem-solving attitude were nothing short of outstanding. Her willingness to go above and beyond left a lasting impression on me. Bottom line: Erin is a fantastic employee, and you are lucky to have her on your team.
