It's very convenient to be able to have a hotel that accepts dogs and last year I reserved a pet room with no view. It had two queen beds. This year I reserved a pet room with a view but when we checked in we found it had two full size beds instead of queen. Not great for two adults! There was no point in speaking to the front desk as she was clearly in a bad mood when we arrived. Be sure to reserve the one with no view if you are adults with a dog. That room was also newer than the one with the view. The woman who checked us in was the only employee we saw all three days. She was pretty gruff in the bar and told my sister (who was staying in a room upstairs) they don't put out dry cereal during the week days. Seriously?? The breakfast is already pretty bare bones so that seemed especially chintzy. There aren't a lot of options in Solon so at least know what you're in for if you stay here.

The bar has a super nice staff and prices are very reasonable. Ample free parking and everywhere has amazing views of the lake. They do community fundraising events. As far as the cabins, it's hard to give a sub par review because I really wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt but in the end, it really just wasn't what we were expecting and hope others can learn from it. I will start with the pros: clean cabins, close lake access with docks for boats to pull in, great area to walk in, safe and quiet, close to downtown Hayward, cabin 5 had a great screened in porch, AC is a plus, had fun fishing on the lake but had to get out of the bay. Cons: resort term used loosely as there are minimal amenities, no swimming beach, lodge closed Sun-Tues, boat rental not available on site (although brochure says it is), many missing kitchen tools in cabins, was told all cabins came with bedding but there were only sheets - you'll need to bring your own pillows and blankets, you're kind of on your own once you check in as as property managers did not seem be accessible/available for questions or help after hours, don't expect cell service. We made the most of it and it was an overall decent place to stay but felt a little mislead and wish we'd have asked more questions/had more info about what we were really getting.
