Al dente pasta, oversized drinks, and a beautiful spot no matter the seat. Everything we had was delicious, starting with the focaccia and red sauce, side salad (I will be going home and cracking the dressing recipe), pasta carbonara & truffle capped with the tiramisu made for the perfect amount for two! I had a deliciously fresh mocktail & my husband enjoyed one of his top old fashions. I did make this reservation a month in advance and don't think you could walk in without one it was so packed!
We loved our dinner here. Reservations made 3 weeks in advance. Gave the feel of Southern Italy. Fun cocktails. We enjoyed the truffle pasta, crab pasta, meatballs, and pizza margherita. Everyone was seated practically at once so it took awhile to get service but our server apologized. Then things went smoothly. We would return. It was pretty warm inside in June, so dress accordingly.
Phenomenal ambiance! We really enjoyed the setting and backdrop, and we ordered one of the non alcoholic drinks that was so yummy. The truffle pizza was delicious as was the bolognese. Service was decent, but I was annoyed that they automatically added the service charge and wasn't happy when we asked to adjust it. Overall a good experience, but I would probably try someplace new.
Had a great birthday dinner here! Staff were very kind. I had requested to sit in a booth and although those are for 4 guests. They let me pick from a few different seating options. The back room is very warm so we preferred the main dining area up front. When seated there was a cute birthday card that was signed by the staff team. Very kind. We both ordered a Jumbo Mama drink, which was a citrus twist on a vodka mule. My boyfriend and I ordered the Insalata Di Zucchebe e Caprino salad, Mafaldine al Tartufo pasta, and focaccia bread. We split the salad and the pasta. Everything was amazing! We really loved both dishes but the star was the pasta. At the end the staff brought me a tiramisu with a candle. They sang happy birthday which was a great end to the evening. We would definitely visit again next time we're in London!
A friend and I mapped out the places we wanted to eat in London when we were there recently, and Circolo Popolare was up there, basically just for the gorgeous look of it. It completely feels like you're dining in a garden - very Instagram worthy. The greenery hanging down from the ceiling looked gorgeous with the giant white walls full of colorful bottles of wine/alcohol, making a cool menagerie look all framed and back lit. We took a zillion photos here before we even ordered our food. But don't worry, we did actually eat here, and we ate (and drank) a lot! I tried the Coco Loco drink, which is a fruity mocktail that comes in a little raunchy glass of a woman's chest. I loved the glass, and the drink inside was very refreshing and light. Would order again! My friend had the My Pear Lady which was equally sweet as the Coco Loco, but did have a more light tasting sweetness with the pear flavor (and it did have booze in it, so that flavor too). Our server was fabulous and very attentive whenever we needed to get a refill of water or order another drink or anything at all. They are super well trained at being there at the exact right time to not interrupt anything, but not leave you hanging when you need them at your tale side for anything. A+ there. For a starter, we tried the calamari and it was a little bit over-chewy. All the calamari I've had at comparable restaurants just basically melted in my mouth, but these did not have that feature, unfortunately. I'm not a huge fan of calamari in general, but my travel companion was - and she agreed on the chewiness aspect, so I wasn't just being picky. After our disappointing appetizer, we needed a pick me up after we placed our entree orders. I had the Big Momma Lager, on our server's recommendation. It was their own brew (Big Momma is the restaurant group name) - so I had to try it if it bore their name. It was a great lager, very light on the tongue and not too hoppy or anything. I would recommend trying that if you want a local beer that's not too heavy. My friend and I shared two entrees, and THOSE were excellent. We had the Ravioli Alla Bolognese, which were delicious little raviolis with a creamy white sauce and crumbles of sausage on top. It was very light for being a pasta full of cheese, white sauce, and sausage! Just the right amount on the plate to not leave you hungry, but not over full. Perfect! Our other entree was the Mafaldine Al Tartufo. This is another of Big Momma's specialties, and another recommendation from our server. It was long strands of tagliatelle paste in a super flavorful truffle and parmesan sauce. I'm not even a huge fan of mushrooms, but in this dish it just worked so well! Definitely recommend this one. And to round out the meal, we shared two desserts. My friend ordered the Mousse Al Cioccolato, which was an extremely rich and almost fudge like mousse, full of pralines, hazelnuts, and a salty addition that brought all the sugariness down a bit, in this one. It wasn't my favorite of the two, but if you're a huge chocolate fan - it might be yours. I got the Tiramisu (my favorite dessert of all time) and it was decadently delicious, but with the sweetness alongside the espresso soak - it counterbalanced so well to not make it overly sugary. This also came out from a pan and they dished out a piece of it for you table-side, with was a super nice touch. They even asked if the piece was big enough or if I wanted more! Suffice to say, I would definitely recommend popping into Circolo Popolare for the ambiance and service. Not everything was great, food wise, but the things that were good, were VERY good. Go for the Instagram stories but stay for a few bites to eat.
Beautiful, beautiful restaurant with solid Italian food! I made this reservation because coming from NYC I've heard a lot about the Big Mama group and the restaurant itself just looked stunning. It really did not disappoint - the pastas were fresh and a good portion. I definitely recommend the fresh mozzarella board, the fried gnocchi, and the lemon pie for dessert they were delish. Everything else was good too the only thing I wouldn't recommend is the calamari, it just wasn't great. I was worried about the acoustics of this restaurant and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the noise level, it wasn't too loud at all. I don't know if I'd go back but it was a great place to check out while visiting London.
At first glance you'll be impressed by the very cool decor with vaulted ceilings, tall rows of shelving bursting with spirit bottles and the intricately woven vines. There is a very homey ambiance here, strong Mediterranean influence in the booths, tables and table setting. There is a good selection of pizzas, pasta and mains. The place is busy but you don't feel lost in the crowd. Our group of 4 had a reservation for 7:30 and there was a line up, but our table was waiting for us. The server was friendly and we noticed that the servers worked in teams to cover and make sure everyone was taken care of. I had the chicken and it was superb. We also had sea bass and pizza. Everyone was happy with the flavours and portions, all plentiful. We also received the birthday song and candle in our ordered lemon meringue pie, which was spectacular. Good value and service, we would dine here again. 4.5 rating but we are giving a 5.
Hell no! Yes, beautiful decor, but that's the only good thing about this place. We experienced awful pasta dishes and crap service. Limited menu. For drinks, there was no Diet Coke, just Coke Zero. We ordered the Spaghetti All'Amantraciana and Cacio e Pepe Con Scampi dishes. Both were small portions for being pasta, and very poor quality tasting. The pasta was far overcooked (mushy) for both. The Spaghetti All'Amantraciana lacked flavor, almost like cheap canned sauce was used. The Cacio e Pepe Con Scampi didn't even taste authentic and even seemed like imitation shrimp. The server was not friendly at all. We were celebrating a birthday and the server couldn't care less. And, after she took our dinner order, she quickly disappeared for an extended amount of time and never saw her again, we were left without service. We eventually saw some other server that was walking around and we had to ask him what happened to our server and he said she was on break. For 20 minutes?! He got us our check and we left as soon as possible. In summary, overpriced, gross tasting dishes, with very poor service. What a joke. Never again!
Walking into this restaurant, the ambiance is beautiful and inviting. It was busy but the service was good without issue. As for the food, I found it to be very average and nothing to write home about. I've had better Neapolitan pizza back home in Michigan. Both pastas were good but again nothing extraordinary. Would not return here for food but it is a nice place for drinks.
Saw a bunch of tik toks and reviews of this place, and knew i had to book a reservation (and boy am i so glad i did) their truffle pasta was probably the best pasta i've ever had in my life, and their calabrian flame was to die for; if i ever find myself back in London, I'll be returning without a doubt.
Ahhh, fantastico! My daughter has been here a few times and highly recommended it for dinner. The place is super popular so we made 7pm reservations and were seated pretty quickly. The interior of this restaurant is amazing. The walls are adorned with bottles from floor to ceiling and photos everyplace else. The lighting complements these decorations well. The restaurant was very lively and had a happy ambiance while we were there. After being seated we ordered a bottle of Camauro white wine to share and then the Burrata Pappa al Pomodoro as an appetizer. They served their house Focaccia with Oregano which was very good. For dinner, my wife and I had the La Gran Carbonara which is prepared tableside in a large cheese wheel. Very cool. My daughter had The One & Tortelloni Circolo. The food was excellent as was the service. No complaints. By the way, my daughter just got a thank you email thanking us for our business and encouraging feedback. The email included cute GIFs which made us smile. Very thoughtful. This place is definitely great for dates and special occasions. I highly recommend Circolo Popolare.

Circolo Popolare is hands down one of the most beautiful restaurants I've ever stepped into. The décor is breathtaking - walls lined with endless bottles, warm lighting, and a vibrant, buzzing atmosphere that instantly makes the experience feel special. The service was excellent from start to finish - friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, which matched the amazing vibes of the place. We tried the spicy spaghetti arrabbiata, pesto pasta, and truffle pizza - and they were all phenomenal. Some of the best handmade pastas we've ever had. The truffle pizza was out of this world, rich and decadent in the best way. To finish, we had the tiramisu, which tasted like it came straight from Italy - light, creamy, and absolutely delicious. Between the atmosphere, service, and food, this was easily one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. So, so good - I'd go back in a heartbeat! read more
I made a reservation here weeks in advance, and now I totally understand why. The space is absolutely stunning, and the service is impeccable. I also had the best meatballs of my life, and the pesto pasta was unforgettable. The warm lighting, suspended florals, and cozy atmosphere made it feel both intimate and beautiful. This quickly became one of my favorite spots in London. Definitely make a reservation, even on a weekday -- I saw so many people turned away while I was waiting for my table! read more

This might be one of the most beautiful restaurants I've ever been to. It feels tucked away and so intimidate and then you walk in and it's this massive space decorated PERFECTLY. And on top of that, the food was amazing and the service was great, as well! read more

Hailed as "the best carbonara in London," the claims couldn't be further from the truth. It's a bold claim, and whoever posited this delusion of grandeur, well...they deserve a stern talking to and perhaps a tour of the worlds' carbonara "best". Circolo Popolare is certainly instagramable with its fake wisteria plastered to the ceiling, but just because something looks pretty, doesn't mean it's worth the trip. The Burrata has more clout than the "famed" carbonara. Don't believe everything you see on tiktok. read more
What a beautiful restaurant!! The service was great! The food was good! I had the crab meat pasta which I had hoped there would be more crab meat but I understand that is how they make the dish. We also had calamari which was greag. I love the food here more than its sister restaurant Pink Mamma in Paris! read more
Zuzana we love you! This was far and away, hand's down, our very favorite meal in Europe. We actually went back to a Big Mamma in Paris and ordered the same things and they just were not made as well. The wait staff was amazing! They got us a table rather late with a smile and genuine warmth. The food was incredible. We ordered appetizers, wine, pastas (truffle and a smoked cheese dish) - everything was cooked perfectly and gorgeously presented, we would very easily and assuredly be regulars if it was close. The wine was great, the prices reasonable, and everything that went by to another table looked and smelled equally incredible. Our server, Zuzana, or Suzana, was a priceless gem in service, helping craft our order and design an experience that none of us will ever forget. As simple as the meal was, it was perfect and memorable, and the environment could not be more adorable, great vibe. I look forward to coming back with my husband when next in town. Living in Los Angeles I was shocked to stumble upon this gem! A clear local favorite this was recommended by a local friend that lives in London. After two nights of super fancy, posh, pricey dinners where we left unimpressed and hungry, we had one of the best meals ever. Both my daughter and I thought this was one of the best pizzas we've ever had. The atmosphere is super fun and hip, but not at all pretentious, definitely not a tourist trap. Some of our favorites were the calamari, burrata, and the margarita pizza. I would pass on the beef carpaccio next time, not bad, but nothing to write home about. For dessert the lemon meringue pie is a must! And if you are dining with a little one, or just a young at heart, don't skip out on a hot cocoa read more
So I had earmarked this place last summer when were in London, and didn't get to it, so made sure to make it there this year. The only reason I'm giving it a four is just that my initial impression was a bit off. The rest of our party arrived before us and was seated, so we joined them, but it took a rather long time to get anyone to wait on us. And then when we did, we didn't end up getting everything we ordered. Not a huge deal, as we weren't charged for it, but just felt like a bit of a hassle to actually get our order placed. BUT, when we got the food we ordered, it was absolutely delicious! I had the spiedino di pollo al limone, and it was divine! The smashed potatoes were such a treat! The chicken itself was wonderful as well...just a bit smaller than I expected. Someone else in our group got the pappardelle and loved that. And another love their pizza. My husband happened to mention being in town for his birthday (not in an effort to get something at all...just a brief answer to a question), and the super kind waiter brought him out an ice cream and a candle. That was a lovely addition, and redeemed the beginning part of the meal where the service felt lacking. Beautiful inside, as has been stated multiple times - loved the decor! read more

The restaurant was located very close to Dominion Theatre, which was the reason we selected it. Wednesday night reservation and we were sat quickly. The lighting was dim as intended for the ambiance, however the detailed menu and poor light combination made it difficult to read. Suggestion... add a small lamp on the table, or larger text on menu (use both sides) We are the starter, crab linguine (shredded crab) which didn't have much flavor. Virgin drink was tasty, and lemon sorbet was delightful but would be strong if you don't love lemon. When visiting the toilet, a women was locked in the stall and staff was working to get her out. 3rd stall in. Scary! 4 stars for toilet issue, inability to read menu and main not being flavorful. read more
The space is truly stunning, evoking the essence of the Sicilian coast with its high wall arches adorned with hundreds of bottles and a ceiling draped with flowers and twinkling lights. Tables are tightly packed, each adorned with unique tableware and mismatched pillows, adding to the eclectic charm. While they offer a variety of fun cocktails, I opted for a virgin option, the Basil Instinct, to balance out the effects of the previous night's heavy drinking. Despite its vibrant green color and basil leaf garnish, I found it to be overly sweet. For starters, we sampled the Burrata Pappa Al Pomodoro and Focaccia Della Casa Alle Olive. The burrata made for a great shareable plate, and I found the pomodoro sauce to be uniquely flavorful. However, I was disappointed to find that the portion of focaccia consisted of only three pieces, and the lack of complimentary bread is essentially a crime to humanity. Moving on to the mains, we ordered the popular favorites: La Gran Carbonara, Mammargherita Di Bufala, and the Mafaldine Al Tartufo. The presentation of the carbonara, intended for two people, was theatrical, but I found the pancetta to be overly salty and the carbonara lacking in sauce. The truffle pasta, while rich and flavorful, became a bit heavy after a few bites. We did enjoy the pizza, particularly the light and airy crust. Overall, while the ambiance is undoubtedly the highlight of the experience, I found the food to be on the pricier side for what it was--a mid-range offering. read more

Top stars for ambiance a service! Can only say for what we ordered for the carbonara, that you have to order in pairs of two. The cheese wheel is impressive, but not as chessy as I'd hoped. The portion was just right, as we had the carbonara and a shared salad. Be sure to get a reservation online as they can be difficult to book weeks in advance! It's also easy to divide a check through their QR code provided on your table. Overall, great place to dine in at night, with amazing decor and great ambiance and impeccable service and with pretty good food. A bit overhyped for carbonara, but overall, it was a great time. Also, on the pricer side so I'd really be back if someone I was traveling with wanted to try this place. read more

Not only is it a beautiful restaurant in a phenomenal location, but the service was some of the best I've experienced. Due to a mixup on my end, I arrived 2 hours late for my dinner reservation. The restaurant had a special event that night and was booked out. I was fully expecting them to turn me away & yet the servers figured out a way to snag my partner and I a table on the back patio. Miraculous! When we sat, we committed to trying as much food as possible (and by golly we did). We had prosciutto plates, cocktails, pizza, pasta & kabobs...oh & dessert. SAVE ROOM FOR DESSERT. The lemon meringue pie was positively dreamy and I loved it. Don't get me wrong, the pizza & everything else was phenomenal, but I'm a gal who loves desserts and theirs was amazing. Gennaro was the best waiter and we honestly loved everything about this place. My favorites were the ragú and the strawberry sorbet (which they make in house). And the atmosphere and decor is unlike any other place I've experienced. Highly recommend making a res if you find yourself in London! read more

Saw an IG post about this restaurant, so I made reservations (ressies open 1 month in advance). The ambiance was great and the food, even better! Highly recommend going with friends so you can order multiple dishes to try. We were also celebrating a friend's birthday and the restaurant had a signed card when we checked in, and complimentary cheesecake + limoncello to celebrate. read more

Great atmosphere for such a cute intimate Italian restaurant. Everything we ordered was very fresh and delicious. My boyfriend being a picky eater really loved his dish. I ordered the ragu pasta to be safe and I thoroughly enjoyed every last bite. I ordered their focaccia bread and another appetizer that was just like mozzarella sticks - very fresh & tasty. The UK isn't necessarily known for their customer service, but everyone met us with kindness. I would recommend to anyone traveling in looking fle an authentic Italian taste! read more

The most immaculate, food experience I have had yet to date. I found insane recommendations along Instagram and TikTok for this place, but was unable to make a reservation, two months in advance as recommended. I decided to stop by right when they opened in hopes of grabbing a table, and I was successful! I only had to wait about five minutes and was able to be seated and served immediately . Server made lots of recommendations and I ultimately ended up going with the crab pasta which was so simple yet complex I don't think I've still been able to completely process it. The vibes in this place is amazing. I recommend going with the large groups that you can try multiple things and share as I went by myself And did not want to waste such a large amount of food. read more
I so wanted to love this place because the ambiance was beautiful. It is a gorgeous place! Make a reservation! It's packed and the energy is great! Took 13 minutes for a server to greet our table. The jack stand was left behind me from serving 2 close by tables. It was left in the middle of the aisle. I finally pushed it away from me so no staff could walk by with out it being in the way. Someone finally removed it. This is a very cool touristy place so don't go in expecting 5 star food. Wont comment on food because I'm hoping it was an unlucky day to receive poor service and luke warm pasta. Place was hoping! Energy was incredibly fun! Go for the experience. Do not be upset if food or service is not what expected. read more
Pizza from the Big Mamma Group continues to hold the record of the best I've ever had. The flavors are fresh and the dough is fantastic. The ambiance of Circolo Popolare creates a fun and unique experience. We tried the Carbonara for the first time, and revisited the popular Mafaldine al Tartufo.
