Here's what I suspect (and I say "suspect" because customer service never explained): the bag was on display in the store for a prolonged period of time and suffered sun damage. Was there any indication of discoloration in the product description? Nope. It's actually appalling, the damage is so bad. Like over $350-for-a-redye bad. Thankfully, even though the item was final sale, customer service did rectify the situation with a full refund. I'm so sad though...that behno bag is sold out everywhere. I hope Rowe reexamines how they handle delicate merchandise like suede so that the quality isn't compromised. I would've expected higher standards from an upscale boutique.

The store is located just off of High on First Avenue, and the only reason we spotted the tiny clothing store was because of a sign that read "Designer Clothes at 'Knock Off' Prices". There was one more thing that caught my eye on that sign, the part that read sizes went up to 20! I'm not a fashionista by any stretch of the imagination, but maybe it's because as a plus size girl I find it really difficult to find name brand clothing in my size that doesn't look like a floral print potato sack. Savvy on a Shoestring is small, with a couple hand fulls of outfits in each size category. Some of the brands I hadn't heard of, but I did notice a fantastic Vera Wang dress on display. Clothing ranges from business, active wear, evening dresses and accessories in the form of handbags and sunglasses. The lady behind the counter was pleasant to talk to and I told her how happy I was that they carried plus size clothing. She said both her and the owner were larger women, so they tried to look after us curvy girls. However, due to a lack of interest (or perhaps a lack of knowledge) from their customer base, they were going to start scaling back their plus size line. Don't let this happen, Columbus! I just found this great treasure of a store!

The store is also tucked on a side street behind Grandview Mercantile. These factors add up to one thing: me forgetting that Savvy exists. But one of my friends went in recently, and she couldn't stop raving about the place. She put three or four things on hold, all major name designers like Versace, Michael Kors, Dolce & Gabbana...Everything is offered at a huge discount. You can find a $400 pair of jeans selling for $40. I don't know how they do it, but they do. So, this past Holiday Hop, I made it a point to stop in. The store was small but full of clothing neatly arranged on racks by size. Personally, I couldn't find anything that was my style. Everything looked like it was selling to an older crowd. They had a bit of everything from sweat suit jumpers to skirts, blouses, and rain boots. There weren't many duplicate pieces. The workers were nice and had York Peppermint Patties for us. If you're a label whore, give Savvy a peek. It's oddly affordable in a neighborhood full of $200 sweaters.

It's connected to the White Castle building, snuggled right near the entrance to the apartments, Penzone, and Orange Theory. They sometimes have mannequins out front to call attention to it but it can be hard to miss. Once inside the staff is incredibly friendly, always providing help and suggestions when needed. The aesthetic of the store is pretty much black and white. I've never seen a lot of color here and when I do, it tends to be more neutral tones. The clothing can be fun and unique or even classy depending on what you're looking for. I will add that it's not very size inclusive. As a size 6 I was having a hard time finding something that was true to size. Overall, it fits nicely in the Short North and prices compare to the other boutiques in the area. It's definitely worth a stop, especially if you are a tiny person that prefers a fairly monochromatic wardrobe.

It might be my new favorite local clothing spot. I was delighted to stumble upon this woman-owned small business this past weekend (how did I not know about this?!). The woman working the counter I am now realizing may be the owner? And she was incredibly charming, chic, and helpful. A perfect stylistic representation of the store itself and the perfect model to display looks that I assume she is choosing/buying herself! I ended up with a super cute black and white denim skirt covered in crescent moons, and two amazing pairs of retro jeans. Epic 90's beige cargo jeans-- totally utilitarian raver badassery-- and black boyfriend-cut also super 90's jeans that somehow make my legs look super long. I seriously can't wait to wear them everything I bought! I pretty much liked everything I tried on and I got my top 3 faves. If you love neutral colors (they ONLY sell neutrals x3) in fresh, funky and retro styles this is 100000000% your store. I'll be back as soon as I feel like I've waited long enough for them to get a bunch of new stuff in :)

In one of the pics I saw a little beehive Christmas ornament so thought I would go check it out (my mom is bee anything crazy). I wasn't sure where the GPS was taking me but once I saw the beatiful mural on the side, I knew where I was heading. Really friendly staff and some really cute gifts here. I was promptly greeted when I came in and was offered some coffee or water. I had to pass as it was a quick stop but I really liked the vide here. The shop had a bit of everything including clothing, candles, jewelry, and all sorts of gifts including some gorgeous drinking glasses. Definitely worth browsing just to check it all out. Overall, it looked like the general price point is on the higher end but nothing too outrageous for a boutique shop. Katya had snacks and champagne for us to indulge in while we shopped and tried on clothes. When I was told the shop specialized in caftans I wasn't quite sure what to expect. How many vintage caftans can a studio hold? First, not all of the caftans are vintage. Some are newer fabrics paired with older designs. Second, there are also jewelry, hats, rompers, dresses, and shoes! Third, there was more than one room so take your time so you can explore all of the space and find items you like. If we had a question about any item such as care (vintage sometimes comes without care labels) or approximate size in today's world, Katya was able to assist. Nowadays she has items available on her site and on Facebook. You can even sign up for the S.R. Provisions monthly subscription for $35 where a box of items curated around a them is sent to you.
