If I could give this branch ZERO STARS I would. On Friday September 13, 2024 I went to the Crystal Lake branch to deposit cash in the ATM. I deposited $1,200. The machine kicked back $200 and said it was not readable. It then took the $1,000 but never credit my account; never gave a receipt - it just prompted me to take my card. Following, I attempted to make a second cash deposit for $120 thinking it may push my first deposit through - however it did not. I proceeded to go into the branch. I was initially brushed off because "she works in investments." I expressed my concern anyway and she said "I don't know why that ATM is not out of service!".. So clearly I am not the first person to have this horrific experience. I stood around waiting for a teller to become available. Finally, the bank teller at the counter was unable to help and says let's go talk to another banker and they can assist with opening an investigation/claim. Alfred (I could be wrong on the name) is available. He immediately says I can't open one but I'll dial the number for you so you can open it yourself. LIKE EXCUSE ME, AND I'M YOUR CUSTOMER!?!?! Lazy, despicable behavior. As I sit for another 30 minutes to an hour on the phone, in the branch, with not one check in if I'm OK or if I need assistance, mice start running out of the baseboards into the lobby. Not ONE employee in sight. Then as I'm walking out I see another bank and I advise you should probably call an exterminator! He gets up and starts running in the back. This branch is disgusting, lazy and NOT ONE employee even tried to help. Oh and you should probably service your ATM's so they are not scamming people out of cash deposits. Claim made. Complaint made. And a Police Report was made with the Crystal Lake Police Department. read more

They never answer their phone. Had an account for many years. Citibank told several RMD payments banks I closed my account.NEVER Did. I will wait until my CDs came due and close my account. Citibank has deteriorated It is not a reliable bank anymore. read more

How frustrating that no one ever answers the phone, and you get sent to their general Citibank automated service, and you can't even talk to a person. Citibank assumed that all their customers call just to find their balance to to transfer money between accounts. Don't they know that if you call the branch it for something much more important and that that function is not available online. We might want to speak to a bankers regarding something not offered online. read more

Citi checking had a glitch that made 8 autopayments to a Citi credit card for over $2k. The branch could not help and would only dial a phone so I could speak with idiots in other countries that could not help. It has been a week and I still do not have my money back and they just keep transferring me to others that do nothing to help. I have made 2 trips to the bank and spent over 10 hours on the phone and they will not answer when I can expect my money and say they cannot expedite this to have my money back for Christmas. They keep blaming me when there is no way to set up more than 1 autopayment in the same day. You cannot call anyone at a branch since they never pick up and you are transferred overseas with people that have no information nor authorization to do anything. read more

Went in around 1:30pm. I was told "all of our tellers are out until 1:40." No wonder the drive up was closed. This made no sense to me. I went back the following Monday after 2pm. I was in a line 7 cars long and waited about a half hour. The staff is fine but maybe don't have all of your tellers go to lunch at the same time. I also ordered some checks. They never processed the order after I waited for a couple weeks. I'm usually an easy person to deal with and do most of my banking online. read more

I tried to close my Citibank credit card account for 2 years. I would close it and then a reoccurring subscription would somehow re-open the account. Some were yearly and 6 months reoccurring charges. After 18 months and days on the phone I finally had the account closed. Then a reoccurring (yearly) charge was made to my closed account. Citibank opened a new account and put the charge on the new account. This seems illegal to me. I called and asked how the account was opened and all I got was you were a member since 2017. Nobody could help me. I was transferred all around. I was unable to speak to a manager. I wanted to pay the bill off but Citibank could not give me my account number for security reasons. All they could do was send me a new credit card. Most of the time I was connected to someone in Asia who did not speak English well or the connection was so poor that we could not understand each other. BTW, It is also funny how yelp hides the bad reviews of other reviewers that have had the same difficulties. Bottom line this company is as bad or worse than Wells Fargo for not closing accounts and opening accounts on people. read more

Went to put a large ammount of cash for my relatives checking account. Was told as of January 20 they have new rules & I could not do that, since I don't have an account with them. Said they can't trace my cash. Well you can't trace anyone's cash. What a strange Rule.? ??? Cash is cash right???? read more

My fiance and I went into Citibank with lots of questions. We wanted to find out how to best fit our needs with our bank accounts. Should we do joint accounts? Separate? Both? I was hesitant to even visit a bank with all the questions we still had, but thought it would help to have someone at least explain our options. We met with Adam Gurchiek, and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about him. He was patient, kind, listened to all of our concerns, and set us up with accounts that meet our needs. He spent almost two hours helping us figure out what was best for us, and we didn't feel rushed or hurried at all. Have spoken with this bank multiple times. Each time I receive different information about rates and payments. It seems as if some employees either do not know the proper information or simply pull bait and switch methods. This was extremely frustrating for me when attempting to pay off a debt. If you are choosing this credit card bank, be sure they document EVERYTHING into the system or they will leave you out to dry (and on hold for about 30 minutes per transfer) read more

Service is excellent and the employees are friendly and knowledgeable. Very seldom that businesses give personalized service the way Citibank does. By the way, the bank CAN be reached directly by dialing the sane prefix with 5051. read more

It is completely frustrating that you cannot call this bank directly to ask a simple question that has nothing to do with your "automated banking services." My question did not fit any of the categories given, and would have taken 20 seconds to be answered. However, I was shuffled through the automated system and given to a centrally located calling center (in India?). It took over an hour to get my answer-and yes all for 20 seconds worth of info. For all the bailout money Citibank has gotten, and now won't lend to anyone (what are they doing with it anyhow?), they should be able to afford a phone!!! I'm changing banks I'm so steamed. Not the first time this has happened, either. Citibank already has your money - through your taxes. Go elsewhere. read more

I recently opened a new savings account with this branch. i told the person that was helping me (cant remember his name, Big Guy), that i do almost all my banking online due to my work schedule. He asked if i wanted a ATM card, i said no, because i prefer to use my credit card for cash withdraws. Few days later, i come to find out, i needed a ATM/Debit card number to do any online banking. Remember that i specifically told Big Guy, i do almost all my banking online. Big Guy should have told me that bit of helpful information. Maybe, he didn't know... that kind of makes it worse. He was very helpful otherwise, so 2 instead of 1 star. read more
