It was my first time coming to this location, and I've had the worst service in any city bank that I've been to. Not only that senior citizen in line ahead of me completely annoyed and complaining how slow their service is, the older lady bank teller who served me keeps allowing herself to get distracted by her colleagues rather than focusing on the customer while doing a transaction! Citibank has been holding my $30,000 for almost 3 months & telling me that they will send me a check soon. I have been checking my mails for 3 months & not getting my check. I have been calling their different departments & every time their ignorant employees lying & telling me that my check is on the way & that I'd receive it in 7 to 10 days. I came in her to make a quick credit card payment and I must say my experience was lovely. They weren't too busy, but with only 2 employees there and customers with a lot to take care of, the line moved very slowly. But it was very obvious both cashiers were doing their best to move it along while being courteous to the customers. When my turn was up, the cashier was very friendly & apologetic for the wait. I applied for a secured credit card thru Citi and was approved. Next I got a series of letters string I'm approved for 1000.00 secured limit. Then I get a card in the mail which I activated as instructed only to be declined at a store a day later. After calling Citi and waiting on hold for 20 min for a supervisor I was told that they can't tell me why the card was declined, they just say my account was closed. Garbage! Would never receive such treatment from Wells Fargo! "Josephine" older gal was to help me change my address that's all. They told me to wait for her and I was first. Attended 2 was ins after me then came up to me and told me to have a seat at her desk. Attended 2 more customers before coming in. Honestly I got the vibe that I'm younger and had a bright pink shirt on and maybe wasn't as important as other older people. Finally she came sat down to tell me there is no manager in and she cannot do anything with my account without a manager's approval. So I asked her can I just change my address? No she cannot do anything can I close my account? No she cannot do anything. So when is a manager going to be in? Try Monday. Will they be in on Monday? Hold on let me check. no he will not be in until Wednesday. I asked her if she could verify that it is me I gave her my social security number and my ID and for the manager whenever he does get into call me and just change my address when he gets a moment. She with attitude starts telling me don't you understand I can't do anything without a manager? Yes clearly! And I explained to her over and over and she just wasn't getting it I didjt know what else to do so I left. I'm closing kg account this is garbage. Mehhhh... I came here because it is right next to my Mom's house and she told me that they are offering a great CD for 6 months. So I decided to check it out. I walked in and there wasn't really anyone to help but I just walked up to a desk and asked. She kindly got up to find the person needed to help me. They all seem pretty friendly but competency might be another thing. If they didn't offer 4% I would have left in the middle. So the guy who helped me out was friendly but a little too much talk. It was taking way too long and I had a bunch of food sitting in the sun. He was a little bumbling in explaining all the details. I had to catch him and ask the question again to finally figure out what he was saying was contradicting. Eventually we were making progress and then he just starts to chat about random stuff. Apparently he was applying to business school at UCLA, my undergraduate school. Then he went on and on... I was a little annoyed because I did not need to see the website you are browsing on and you telling me your whole life. I mean great for you but this is a business transaction and you need to be professional. What makes it worse is that their system was failing! So I don't even know if my CD went in... or if my friend gets a referral! Let's pray! if not I am going to raise heck about the heavy amount of money i gave them! So we will see how it goes. I still haven't gone back to pick up the paperwork and checks & more. So much trouble! I almost regretted about putting it into their CD.... sigh! read more

Nightmare! They allowed someone to drain my account - write bogus fake preprinted checks with no signature needed - its been FIVE months and they are giving me the run around - I keep calling and calling and they tell me to wait - sign a form - then they say they never got it - closed the case - I have to start ALL over again - AWFUL customer service!!!! AWFUL nightmare that should be resolved and still isn't. It is appalling that they allow this and then I have to fight and fight to get it reversed. I am so disappointed in the Lake Forest branch. I have been with Citibank for 25 years and generally have been satisfied. This is the first time I dealt with the Lake Forest branch. I ordered Euro currency transfer for an overseas trip on May 30. The currency was to be transferred and received today. I called the branch multiple times and they did not answer. I called global customer service and they had the same problem. When they finally got through the branch advised they were not the receiver. Citibank global checked with currency exchange and confirmed that the Lake Forest branch was to receive the transfer. They provided the very poor customer service and were not honest. I've been going to this branch for about 20 years. I like that it's a smaller more intimate bank. I had been having problems with my business account and for some reason couldn't get it resolved over the phone, this went on for a while. I finally decided to go into the branch and within a couple of minutes Mehdi Miladi started solving the problem, asking the right questions and getting the right people on the phone. Stopped by the Lake Forest, Ca. branch this morning to open a checking account. Waited less than 5 minutes before Mehdi Miladi introduced himself. I knew exactly what type of account I wanted. Mehdi didn't try to pressure me otherwise or upsell me in any way. Profession manner and all business. He reminded me about the banks policy of awarding referral fees to existing clients who refer new customers (me) and made sure my partner would receive her fee. I was in and out in under 30 minutes. This was my first interaction with Citibank. If you have new or existing business with this branch I highly recommend you let Mr. Mehdi Miladi handle it for you. read more

Worst service ever! I had a current home equity line of credit with them, and they told me about a better interest rate if I applied again. Even though I already had a line of credit with them and have excellent credit, I had to provide them with even more information than the existing one I had gotten from them 2 years earlier. I had everything to them within a week. It took 96 days to finally close with so many mistakes and giving them the same information several times. They didn't follow through with anything. I had to keep calling them. When I provided them with my HOA insurance as well as my own home insurance, I was told my name needed to be on the HOA insurance (this coverage includes all 220 condos in my association, so why would my name be on it?) I then had to pay for a certification that they charged me $120 for. This has been the most frustrating experience. NO ONE answers the phone there! I called for 4 days several times, and each time a machine picked up and said no one was available. I had to leave work and go to the bank when they didn't put money they owed me in my account. I will never do any further business with them. They made promises and didn't follow through ever. WARNING: DO NOT DO BUSINESS THERE What a bunch of lazy people! read more

Been with Citibank for a while and have had a good experience until I moved to Lake Forest and had to use the El Toro location for convenience. The tellers are courteous enough but overall I don't have much confidence in this branch. First, they canceled a deposit we made very early on (our first interaction with this branch) and failed to contact us. Canceling the deposit because of a legitimate reason is fine. NOT even trying to contact the client is a big no no. Absolute shit NO. No phone call, no email, no messages, no mail about a check they decided to pull out of our account. We noticed this missing deposit and had to follow/investigate it ourselves. No apologies, nothing - the manager/assistant manager should take care of their clients when they have a problem. Also I have no idea who the manager is... haven't seen him/her. I knew everyone at my old branch because they would introduce themselves and let clients know.
