Odd review for me - who writes a review about a bank? No one, but me and the three other people…read moreposted here. lol I'm motivated to write because of our experience with Santos Fernando Aloi. We went in for a home equity loan and had spoken with some random person on the phone. They'd assured us that our current loan would be closed out, paid off, and a new one opened in its place. Didn't happen. When we went into sign with Santos, they'd just extended the current line. We didn't realize it would mean much, so we didn't care. But Santos said we could get a better rate with the original plan. So, he took the time to explain that and work with us over the course of a couple of weeks to get the loan type and amount that would get us the best rate. He didn't have to do that. He could've taken advantage of our naïveté and coasted through doing little work. Instead, he chose to make his job harder to give us quality service. You don't see that kind of commitment very often anymore.

Never in my time have I dealt with someone as personable, caring, or delightful as Andy F. He thinks outside the box, offers solutions beyond what is required, and is as caring as they come. If you have an issue or need a good banker, see Andy, there is no one better. Banker for life, as long as I live here and he's at that branch. There are a lot of bad reviews for this branch, but it is my favorite branch. Main manager is kind but slightly reserved, tellers are wonderful and friendly, and Andy creates a contagious energetic positive atmosphere than transcends to other staff members. If they are busy, it is just the wrong hour, usually theres at least two bankers for bigger issues, and usually free unless you come at rush hour. Thanks for the exceptional service Andy!

Twice I have gone to the Ladera Ranch branch and have been told that my deposits, which were over $10,000 had to be held. Half available in a couple days, and the other half in a week. Pretty ridiculous for a long-time account holder and a check from a recognized bank. So I go to this one in Mission Viejo, they get my funds available the next day. All of it. Somehow, their "computer" flagged the transaction as an error and possible fraud. The teller told me the only person who could override it was the manager--but apparently the manager was on lunch. Mind you, it was almost 4 PM and the branch was closing in about an hour. Who takes lunch an hour before closing when they're the only person who can handle situations like this? What really frustrated me was the fraud accusation itself. How exactly is me purchasing a cashier's check with money already sitting in my account suspicious? It's not like I walked in trying to cash a questionable check or deposit money from an unknown source. I was trying to access and use my own funds. I was so frustrated that I personally called Wells Fargo's fraud department, put them on speakerphone in front of the teller, and had the Wells Fargo fraud representative confirm that there was NO fraud issue showing on their end. And somehow, that still didn't resolve it. When the manager finally returned, he started asking me questions about where I worked, why I was in the area, and other questions that seemed aimed at figuring out why the system might have flagged me. Look, I'm no Sherlock Holmes, but are we serious here? I'm purchasing a cashier's check. With my own money. From my own account. Instead of getting even more upset, I bit my tongue, answered the questions, finally got my cashier's check, and left. The entire experience was unnecessarily frustrating, embarrassing, and ridiculous. This branch was an absolute joke, and unfortunately, the experience reflects poorly on Wells Fargo as a whole. Jan is a wonderful individual and wished me a happy early birthday. We visited while completing the transaction and I can say the staff at this branch are true professionals, kind and efficient. I so appreciate this financial institution as they focus on stellar customer service. It truly feels like a community partnership and family when visiting the branch and taking care of business. The branch had to open a case to investigate the issue, but a week has now passed and I still have not heard from anyone regarding the status of my case or the return of my funds. What made the experience even more frustrating was how my concerns were handled. Rather than feeling like a valued customer whose money had been taken by a malfunctioning ATM, I felt as though I was being treated like an inconvenience for raising the issue. I understand that technical issues can happen but the lack of communication, follow-up and customer service is extremely disappointing. Customers should be able to trust that their money is secure , if something goes wrong, the bank will take the matter seriously and work promptly to resolve it.

The cashiers check process was also pretty straightforward and I was able to get in and out within 10 minutes without even setting an appointment. I think a lot of other banking institutions are moving to a model where there is less interaction with the associates and more electronic transactions, but it seems Schools First at least has a system in place that allows for the people interaction part and great customer support. It kind of reminds me of AAA, except AAA has ridiculous wait times for their in-person support.
