Don't do business with Citibank - especially this location. They don't care about their customers and do not secure and protect their private information. I bought a house in San Francisco in 2012. I received several mailings (which I always Returned to Sender) for the previous owner after first buying the house (which is expected and eventually stopped). But, oddly, in November 2025 - more than 13 years after buying the home, I began receiving monthly mail from Citibank for the previous owner again. At first, I returned mail to sender, thinking that will fix the issue (I have worked in the financial industry most of my life and know that financial institutions have a reasonable responsibility to keep customer info updated in order to comply with anti-money-laundering & U.S. Patriot Act laws.) Most financial institutions will remove and address from their customer's profile & investigate further if they continuously received returned mail from an address on file. Citibank did not and for months, I kept receiving mail. So, I went to the local Citibank and personally handed a few months' worth of Citibank mail to the representative and explained that I recognize the addressee as someone I purchased my home from in July 2012 but that person has not lived at my address since nor is a person that I have any relationship with. I asked them to please stop sending me her mail & explained how difficult it is for me to keep having to return mail to sender (I have a brain condition, which I am waiting for surgery for, that has been causing different types of seizures. With some of the seizures, I will suddenly lose awareness and perform a repetitive action for up to 5 minutes which is often followed by a period of 30 minutes where I act drunk and have little to no memory of. I don't have an outgoing mailbox at my home an walking to just the PO Box to return mail sender is scary for me because I never know when a seizure will strike and am unaware of what I'm doing for up to 35 minutes. The mail STILL didn't stop so I went into this office again months later and even found out that the previous owner got a personal loan, using my address, in October 2025 which is why I began receiving monthly mail again in November 2025. Annoyed that Citibank did not protect their customer's private and personal information as well as comply with Know-Your-Customer legislation, I even found the previous homeowner's phone number & alerted her of what was happening, requested that USPS investigate the issue, and notified FTC. I am STILL receiving mail for the previous homeowner and am now also getting mail for other people whose names I'm not familiar with AT ALL. Any other financial institution would have flagged my address as one that does not belong to the client & needs further investigation (to comply with KYC laws) as well as stopped sending me mail (to protect their client's personal information) but Citibank didn't. Called 4638 Mission St Citibank for a Medallion Signature Guarantee (MSG) for a Letter of Transmittal form and was told by the manager at this location that I can email the form for their legal department to review before he can MSG the form. I emailed it and 2 weeks later and still nothing from him. I called the Citibank Van Ness location, got an appointment, went in, the manager was professional, courteous and efficient. He reviewed the forms, Medallion Signature Guaranteed it and asked me to have a nice day. Done. read more

How can a bank not cash a check that has their banks name on it??? I mean what's going on that banks can't do what they suppose to do. I don't have no idea why anyone would want to have business with Citibank. Not only that, but don't even bother getting to see what hours they open because they don't even respect their own hours. If I could give zero stars, I would!!! I took my grandmother here to do a simple withdrawal and there was one teller there. This older Asian lady, and she was absolutely TERRIBLE! Worse customer service ever, had a nasty attitude and was unbelievably rude to me. She was rushing us and she threw the card back at us through the little slot. Rushed my grandma to sign the bottom and my grandma has poor vision, the lady clearly seemed annoyed when my grandma was trying to look at where to sign. Rolled her eyes and everything. Literally 0.2 seconds passed where the keypad prompted us to approve it and she snapped at me saying to press the buttons and out of annoyance with her attitude I responded "I'm not stupid and I can read!!" I wanted to open an Access checking account simply to be able to transfer money to my landlord's Citi account. I was told by a person who helps with opening new accounts that this is not possible. I went online and opened a Citi account and one of the features of the account is to: Transfers to/ or from Non-Citi Accounts. Wow! What a shitty bank!!! Literally shitty. I visited this branch for the first time today for a check deposit and to get cash. I was assisted by a lady named Sandy Kwock (per nametag). She may be efficient at best, but definitely does not provide the warmest of customer service. Also, too often I had to repeat what I wanted during my transaction. Very bad experience !The banker named Pamela Au told me that, if i refer a friend to open an account with her, she offer me a safe box. after my friend opened an account in Feb 2014, she told me that there was no safe box avaliable. i have to wait. I asked her today, when can i get a safe box. she said if you refer a friend to me, i can give u a safe box right away. i already refered you a friend. she said you never refer a friend to me. OMG. she was saying the same thing everytime when i asked her about the safe box. Be possibly aware of this bank. I went in today to close a checking account, the teller offered me all bills. I closed it and walked across the streets to Chase to deposit the money seconds later. The chase teller told me that one of the bills may be a counterfeit after she ran it through 3 machines. Chase's machine took all the bills except one... Now they are sending one bill in to investigate, and I am short $100 in my account right now. I walked back over to Citi and told them, and they told me they can't do anything and kept saying that the money dispensed from the machine. As a tip, next time watch to see if the money really did dispense from the machine because I did not. All I saw was them counting the money in front of me. Lastly, this branch deserves a one star because they could've wrote an official check and save me all this hassle. I really hope citi gave me a crappy bill, and that it's chase's machine not reading it correctly. In the event that the bill really is a counterfeit, I really would be down $100 and would caution everyone of going hereI will update once I got the result. -- I've been told the process will take up to three months. I was having a citi account for over 5 years..never had problems. I went to this location- the banker did some manipulations on my account and immediately I've started to get fees... They usually only have 2 tellers and finding parking here is frustrating. I only come to this location because it is more convenient for my grandma since she lives close by. Everytime it's a mystery whether we are going to find parking close or at all. There have been occasions where we have to make at least 3 loops around to find parking. Granted there is not much they can do about parking but it's still frustrating when your parking lot only has 11 spots and they say reserved for citibank customers only. We spend less time in the bank than looking for parking. Once inside they only have 1-2 tellers working at the same time which is fine on slow days but it seems like there never is a slow down so there is usually a line at least when we go. I would suggest coming here if you truly have to but If not there is another one just 5 mins down the road. read more

In general, Citibank has been good to me. This review is for this location only. Wanted a cashier's check and they have a parking lot in the back where only customers are allowed to park. Rolled in there and 20 minutes later had a check I needed (on a Saturday). Ms. Chow was the accountant and was very friendly. She understood exactly why I needed the check and put in all the right information without me sweating about it. The only reason I would not give them 5 stars is because of the long lines (would have helped to have more staff there). read more

If I could give a negative start I would. I signed up with t mobile, bought a phone and prepaid my account for 6 months. After approx 2 months I cancelled my line, I was told by their CSR that I should expect a refund in 7-10 business days. After that time elapsed I contacted them again, this time I was told that it takes t mobile a month after the line was cancelled before any payment would be issued, I waited the month and contacted them again this time I was told t mobile didn't issue payment directly that Citibank handles all refunds, I made sure they had correct billing info and new number as I didn't have same line active. After another month still no refund so I call again and apparently when the information went from t mobile to Citibank they somehow gave the wrong address. Several weeks later I called complaining about the situation and I was patched through to Citibank and they stilpll had the wrong address....now I'm being told to wait 3 more weeks.!! Sometimes it is nice to reach a bank over the phone. This branch has never answered the phone. The main customer service number is no better since they always are experiencing "heavy call volume" and "the wait might be longer than usual". This makes no sense. Staff is incompetent and will lie to your face. I brought in two promotional offers that said if you deposited $25,000 and maintained the balance for 3 months you'd get a $500 credit. They tried to push me into a different savings plan, wanted $50,000 minimum and wouldn't honor the promotional offer--which is valid for another month. It was very clear language on the offer.
