Avoid the Daly City Provident Credit Union for Business Banking--Worst Experience Ever! If I could give zero stars, I would. I've been a loyal Provident Credit Union member for over five years, so when my family needed to open business accounts, I confidently recommended them. BIG MISTAKE. I scheduled an appointment online a week in advance for a Monday morning. We arrived with all the necessary paperwork and were helped by a flex assistant manager. She was polite, got us set up, and after an hour, she told us we were missing a couple of documents. No problem--we told her we'd email them the same day, and she set us up for a quick in-and-out appointment on Thursday just to sign. Sounds easy, right? WRONG. I emailed the documents first thing the next morning. That's when I got an auto-reply saying she was on vacation for a couple of weeks. Seriously?! I called the Daly City branch and spoke to a flex teller, explained everything, and made sure all the documents were forwarded so we wouldn't have any issues on Thursday. He assured me everything was good to go and even sent a confirmation email. Come Thursday morning, we walk in expecting a five-minute signing appointment. Instead, NO ONE had a clue what was going on. Our profiles? Gone. Our documents? Vanished. We had to start from scratch. Not only was this a colossal waste of time, but the new assistant manager and the branch manager were straight-up rude. We stood there for two and a half hours before they even offered us seats--only after I complained. And in the middle of all this chaos, the assistant manager assisting us took her "mandatory 10-minute break" while my brother and I stood there, stunned. FOUR AND A HALF HOURS it took. We came in at 9am and left at 1:30pm, we finally got the paperwork sorted. I was going to let it go but now I just received an email from the same rep saying that they're still missing paperwork and if I don't turn it in we're in danger of them closing our accounts over documents I had already provided--TWICE! Documents she confirmed receiving! I felt terrible for bringing my family's business here. I'll stay faithful to Provident but the Daly City location is an absolute disaster. If you need a reliable credit union for business banking, AVOID THIS LOCATION AT ALL COSTS. They have no clue what they're doing, and customer service is atrocious. read more

I have had nothing but great customer service from Loid said and the rest of the team. I have been going here for years. The team is always so nice. I always reach out to Loida when something is going on with my account, I apply for a loan, or anything related to opening accounts. I had a bad experience when I called the general customer service line that told me I had to contact the branch regarding the Zelle issue on my account. Ok. So with a 13yo who is growing more independent every day, it was time to figure out how to responsibly handle the birthday money and red envelopes we have gotten recently. Friends have described other website and apps, FamZoo or GoHenry.. but honestly I am not about to spend money to have access and control... I feel like that is best done with communication (and most banks have apps themselves. ) FamZoo is $72/year?!?! What? I don't spend that much with my regular accounts! (I pay nothing!) So, banks. But I hate Chase bank. I say NO to the big banks if possible... Gone are the days of personal banking, I like 1st Republic but they don't do Youth accounts.... Went in to start Youth savings & checking accounts, met with Loida who made it a pleasant and educational experience for kiddo. I have had an account with Provident since sometime in the 1980's, and love the personal service. Most recently I noticed some suspicious transactions in my statement, and visited the Daly City branch as soon as they opened the next morning. Loida Pios, Personal Account Officer assisted me and my husband in filling out reports and putting a stop to the fraud, closing my account, opening a new one, and made additional suggestions related to our security. Some years ago I had my wallet stolen in San Francisco. I went to the branch that used to be on the Embarcadero. Even though I had no ID with me the staff was kind enough to let me withdraw money from my account, calm me down, and make sure I had what needed. You can't go wrong with Provident. You are not just a pile of money to them; you are a human being, and they treat you as such. read more

So far really happy. The team at the Daly City branch have been friendly and helpful throughout the process of transitioning accounts from another institution. Polite and competent through the whole process. It feels very much as if they don't take their customers for granted. While the online, website and app capacities are excellent, I find myself thinking up excuses to visit the branch. The staff are that nice. My one nitpick with the phone app is the lack of 2-factor authentication options. This should be a top order function extension of the current app. read more

The branch manager, Carolina Lopez, was very helpful in getting me an appointment with Mario Perez. They requested my information before the appointment so they could begin their review, and to also help speed up my appointment. Mario was absolutely a joy to work with - he was able to explain in detail every aspect of my refinance, my new checking/savings account, and my new credit card, All in all, it was a great experience from beginning to end and I just wanted to give this branch and their employees a shout out. I have been a member of this credit union since the late 90's and overall had been quite happy. Key word: had. I am writing this review as the customer service has declined significantly, both on the phone (with main number) and at the Daly City branch. Several times I tried to open a business account, and such ridiculous and random requirements completely prohibited the transaction. The person 'helping' me was stone cold and kept saying it was the law and they get audited. I went right down the street to US Bank and opened a business account in the next hour. I'm currently on the phone for the third time today trying to resolve an issue (unsuccessfully, mind you), and could provide more examples. It's nice to be a member of the credit union, and it's local and all of that...but honestly I don't find them to be anything special. :( read more

We were soooo happy with the customer service we got when we opened our personal accounts and today... today that totally changed. I made an appointment to open a business account with a banker (Loida) at 9 am. We were there on the dot and entered; the manager ( Carolina Lopez) looked at us from her office and proceeded to keep typing on her computer, totally ignored. The banker entered the branch right after us, said hi and took 15 minutes to take us into her office and didnt even know what the appointment was for. Overall it was a waste of time, the policy changed so the document we were missing was not needed anymore and we needed something else. I actually don't bank with Provident, but I was looking for a Co-Op shared branch that helps customers of the credit union I do bank with. I had gone to 2 other credit unions, and they said I could use their ATMs, but once I got there, the machines said they didn't accept my card. With a 3rd attempt to find yet another CUs on the co-ops list, I called this credit union after much frustration driving here and there and looking for parking - and thankfully Mario was the one who helped me locate a branch that actually would take my card and do business with me. I opened my account years ago in Los Gatos and always had great service. The tellers were great, the manager super friendly and accommodating. I moved to SF about 3 years ago and knew I would be dealing with this new branch. On the advice of the Los Gatos manager, I went in, and tried to intro myself to the branch manager. All I can say is that other than a couple of very friendly tellers, this is the worst financial institution I have ever dealt with. It is night and day different than other branches. It's really a shame. After banking at the new branch for 3 years, I get treated with disrespect and an indifference by management that borders disrespect. Oh the stories are so numerous and ultimately after dealing with regional people I end up getting handled. But it's really not worth the effort. I would encourage anyone that has to deal with provident , don't use this branch, perhaps Millbrae they have always done me right. But I would highly recommend this steering away from this credit union if possible as the issues at this branch appear to be from the top down. Today when Speaking with a manager I said that I never had these issues in Los Gatos. The teller piped in " this isn't Los Gatos" as f Los Gatos is a hick town compared to Daly City. My favorite place to have my hard earned money of all my accounts. Staff seems well trained, helpful and friendly. I never had a problem in 10 years until recently when I made a change to my direct deposit. My deposit was supposed to be done every month instead of only once. Kash the teller gets high praise for me. She fixed the problem and filled out all the forms for me and called the control center to check if it was possible. All I had to do was sign the dotted line. When I checked my statement the deposit went as planned. You go to a lot of places and only a manager can help, and sometime there is more hassle. When a problem happens, I really appreciate when it can be solved instead of a bunch of blah blah blah. Union Bank (Daly City) for instance is a piece of S--t! They ran a special CD promotion and I went a half hour before close and they told me they are too busy, come back another time. I go the next day and they tell me they are too busy and I have to make an appointment...WTF! Kash really impressed me. I m a manager and often observe how a place runs and notice top notched people in the establishment. Provident CU keep doing what your doing. read more

I tried to get a used car auto loan here for $13,500 to take over my girlfriend's auto loan from them. I had a 720 credit score with with a $62k annual income. The pandemic hit hard for everyone and I taught that this credit union would be more lenient of people's past credit history. I got declined because of a default they saw from 2014 (I had a medical condition called depression and couldn't manage my bills during that time). Luckily I recovered and got back on my feet and worked hard to rebuild my credit! I applied for Capital One Auto loan and I got approved for $25k. Also applied at lending tree and got numerous offers. Just want to say if you don't got a perfect credit history don't even bother trying here! Their loan officer is very strict and only lend out money to perfect credit history. (I had other credit union before and that wasn't the case). Also it took 4 days after submission of my loan application to get a result. I got a -3 point on my credit now since they do a hard pull on your credit report. Although the staff sounded nice over the phone. I don't see the risk of lending money out for an auto loan for them since the car is the Collateral... just saying. Plus full coverage insurance of the vehicle is required. Definitely go else where and don't waste your time! read more

The window staff at this branch (Daly City by Junipero Serra blvd.), are very helpful, they have answers to your questions, and very professional. But the branch manager is the opposite, very disappointing, inconsiderate, unprofessional, no accountability, all negative to questions. I have a cd account and by the time of maturity, usually a month before, I should be getting a notification. I did NOT get any notification. Not a hardcopy in the mail, not even an email. The manager did not listen to this, did not even check against their record. I tried showing her my evidence: emails, and mails which for no reason no longer get them. All these were ignored. Feel sorry for them but I will definitely close my account when my cd matures. For now, I'll let them use my money. I hope the president/ceo of this credit union will see my review. read more

This was my first time banking with a credit union and the perks of a credit union are great. When we first switched over a year and a half ago, service was mediocre but bearable. But now, it seems as if things have gotten worse. when the assistant branch MANAGER doesn't have any customer service skills, know how to do something as simple as issue you a new debit card, or even know their own phone number, then something is wrong.
