While the San Mateo Provident is great to work with, the 800 number, where one tells what to do with expiring CDs, is awful. The Customer Service is terrible on the phone. For the last 18 months I've had more than 5 and less than 10 CDs expire, and not once was my 800 call responded to promptly. Today, 29 January 26, I've made 2 attempts to reach a person unsuccessfully --- on hold for 20 mins and on hold for 10 mins. Both times I had to hang up due to important calls on another line. They made it difficult to get your own money back -- they automaticallly renew the CD if you can't make contact. Stay away if you want customer service on the phone. read more

Their fraud department and the head of fraudulent reporting is the worse. They don't listen to their members even with concrete evidence there is fraud in their account. They work with the vendor instead of their members. As soon as I can I'm leaving this banking institution as they are the worse! Even go as far as saying you do a fave recognition to sign up for services and that's why they won't refund your money! All bull shit prescribed. Beware folks. Don't bank with them. This bank office branch is wonderful. Staff is always very helpful friendly prompt and there is an ATM machine right outside on 2 floor lobby in building. This credit union offers great interest rates for car home loans and possibly other loans I'm not even from him with. I've switched over to them from big banks and I am never going back. I was told joining the credit union had advantages. I haven't noticed ONE and I've been with them for about 13 years I've probably been overdrawn once by $.99 and I haven't been able to secure a loan for a car or personal. The only reason why I stay here is because all my accounts are linked up and I would have to change everything. In the bank tellers are pretty nicer but that's about it. Parking is horrible at this location as well. read more

I am really sorry to have to write this post . My mother recently passed away and I am trying to access her funds . I have supplied the appropriate documents including the death certificate. It's been over 40 days since my moms death has been noted . No one has reached out to me for updates . I have had to call several times. I keep getting the same answers and excuses. This is supposed to a wonderful place to bank with awesome customer service . Well not today and not ever this whole experience is still unresolved and has been awful. read more

She walked me through the rates, secured a good payment, following up with phone calls and emails. When I was running late and cautious on Covid-19 Stay Precautions, she met me outside of her work office outdoors in an open space. I signed the closing paperwork which she provided for my review. We have banked here for over a decade - and the PCU's service have become an atrocious joke. Their folks are do not call back, do not assist you, their website if misleading by stating you can open an account online, when in fact, you have to email them the application for a minor account or go to a branch. The new account area is the ABSOLUTE WORST experience and consumer lending is not far behind. I have not had this poor of a service experience in years and am STRONGLY urging all PCU members to RUN! I was actually there looking for an atm to make a withdrawal and I actually looked at there services and I was very interested When I came in that day it was almost closing time but the bank manager was very nice and said he will set up a meeting with me the next day , I have explained my situation and was inquiring If I would qualify to open an account and the next day when I went back they were very welcoming and also very attentive. I applied for a checking & savings account online and heard nothing back. A month later I went came into this branch and was told by Erlinda that she could see the application but because it was a month old I'd need to complete a new one. I asked how long would the application take since I was at work and was told about 20 minutes. She then requested a copy of my driver's license and told me to send a copy of my lease and I was done. Soooo no application huh? It's now 16 days later and I still haven't heard from them. I called today to speak with the branch manager about their follow-up game being trash. He stated he would look into it placed me on hold and came back to state the application was denied but he cannot see why. I asked if I would be receiving documentation in the mail this time and he stated that I should be and that he would follow up with their Risk Management department regarding the account. I'm pretty sure I won't hear from them again unless I follow up so I'll call back in about a week. read more

I ordered a card and over a year didn't receive the card. Applied for another card and the card came with the wrong numbers on the card. None matched. Then they sent another and it was the original card I ordered over a year ago with the right bank number but wrong cvs code and wrong expiration date. I canceled account completely. If it's this much he'll to go thru just to get a working card with the right numbers in it I don't want it period. Don't need them now to try and fix anything I simply just won't suggest cash app to any friends or family and will try to get those using to switch services now.
