I have a joint checking account with my late wife, it was frozen. The account accepted my pension checks. It denied bill payments through debit cards of the account. I was assured I can use my debit card. First try, it was denied. Called them back, they blamed the store. On their computer end it said "invalid transaction" . They promised me they have straightened it out. After 4 tries, the same results. I found out that the day they received any bill or deposit their computer tags it as invalid transaction but processes them the next day. Imagine I was told this will be going for 5 months. For deposits its ok but for stores on line, a day late in payment, its a delay in delivery, lost special discounts, mistakes in billing, etc. They have no protocol to help their depositors, but to protect their bank. Is their anybody out there who can give me a better or fair treatment?

I'm a current member with the bank next door to them (HVFCU) but I was denied a vehicle loan because of low credit history (even though my score was good). I waited about 1-2 months and sat with a HVFCU representative about my denial and if I should re-apply for the loan, they did not recommend to proceed with the application as it may get rejected again. So I stepped outside and looked to my right... glanced at the MHVFCU and I thought I'll take my chances with this credit union I haven't heard of before. I walked into a very nice, modern, high tech & elegant main lobby and was greeted by friendly smiles. I did not have to wait, and was immediately being assisted by Jonathan who helped me fill & submit my application and mentioned he would get back to me later the same day (which I thought would never happen). The most shocking thing to me is when he called and said that my loan was approved! A few days later I found my dream car and went over to MHVFCU to finalize my loan. I was also in a hurry to get things done but I sat with Debra who professionally went over every detail and made sure I sent her all necessary documents. Then within a matter of minutes, I managed to get a check for the car payment. Debra was amazing, she helped me get what I needed, quick! I'm so glad I walked over to MHVFCU that day. would not recommend this bank for anyone to bank with. They placed a hold on a deposit and when I…read morecalled to see what happened 2 different managers on 2 separate occasions reviewed it and stated they didn't see anything wrong and they can't see why it should be a hold. Both submitted claims to get everything released but it's going on day 5 and nothing. When I sold my house last year I had the same type of deposits with Bank of America for over 90k and it cleared 1/2 in a day and the rest in 3 days and this deposit with TD bank was for under 6k. Don't bank here if you don't want headaches.

I'm happy to say that Gretchen was very helpful and honest. She walked me through the process and explained that the problem may not be able to be fixed until the purchase posted (luckily the purchase was made that morning, so I knew within an hour). She also helped me with reporting my card as stolen to avoid further issues. When I looked at my account on Monday I saw that the purchase had posted. I went back to the branch, Gretchen was there and remembered my situation. She helped me again and I received the money back in my account as promised. I am likely to keep my account with M &T mostly because she was willing to help me. I know that it's not the bank's fault, but the account is small and I was debating whether to close it out.
