This place is a gem. We are from the San Francisco area where good Indian and Thai restraints are easy to find. We were on a road trip, finding ourselves in upstate New York, needing to pick a restaurant to meet some relatives at. Based on Yelp ratings, this seemed like the best choice, and I had pretty low expectations: for one, there didn't seem to be many Indian or Thai people in the area, and two, when a restaurant advertises as specializing in two different regions/styles of cuisine, usually both are bad (for example, "Chinese and American food"). My family came here after a long day of driving and after the initial place we wanted to go to was closed. Thank goodness it was because we would have missed out on a gem of a place. I was skeptical of the idea of Thai and Indian food at the same place but Citrus proved my suspicions wrong. We ordered the fried rice, dosa masala, chicken tandoori, lamb korma, roti, and paneer makhani. Everything exceeded my expectations, full of flavor and very generous portions. finally tried here after picking up grub hub orders and the smells of spices and herbs there mesmerized me to try for myself. It was slow there, so I got seated pretty quickly, got to say the service there is pretty lukewarm, but they are attentive and give me a full menu and a refilled my water frequently without asking. I order shrimp tandoori and garlic naan. So, for the tandoori, it arrived hot a cast iron skillet, very impressed. shrimp was bursting with flavor and very succulent, so glad they were very jumbo shrimp, plus grilled just right, not charred but not lightly tapped either with flames. basmati rice was cooked just right and soft, never had a rice so aromatic it scents, and so flavorful for a white rice. Fried garlic shavings on top of rice, were the cheery on top really making the rice its own star next to shrimp tandoori. Garlic naan bread, man i never had naan so fresh, so fluffy and crips on its edges, the garlic and cilantro mixture on it, made like garlic knots distant but better relative in taste, in a bread family. hah. This was my favorite spot around here and I brought many friends and family here and got them business. This all changed a few weeks ago when I had the misfortune of getting a table with a direct view into the kitchen. I was SHOCKED. It looked sooooo filthy in there!!! Look for yourself! And we saw them handling food with their bare hands and placing naan on a dirty countertop. YUCK! Let the dilapidated parkling lot and the leaky ceilings be a warning to you. Upon researching, I found this place has NUMEROUS health code violations from the past few years, including improper food handling, unsafe storage practices, and presence of VERMIN! The fact they deleted this review tells you how dishonest the owners are and that they don't care. Instead of deleting this review, how about you improve the quality of your location!!! Amazing food, excellent service and a simple, cozy and quaint decor. The waiter was great about explaining the selections. The Goat cheese-stuffed Naan made an amazing appetizer. Our three Indian and one Thai plates were excellently prepared and seasoned, with an exceptionally large amount of meat in each. Without a request they provided a birthday desert (mango cheesecake). I have my two favorites which are the popular choices: butter chicken and tiki masala and I will say that here they are great! Top choice is the butter chicken! If you are unsure where to begin with Indian cuisine that is an easy choice. For the appetizer we get the broccoli tod nombuay a deep fried piece of broccoli with an apricot glaze (you can't go wrong with fried). The food is not the cheapest but you can split a curry meal if you want (we usually do) and get full. They will bring you more rice for your meal as you need it which I appreciate but you do have to sometimes ask for more. The service is great and the staff is friendly. Moving in the area just about a yr ago, I was looking for Thai food. I came across Citrus and realized it's not just Thai they also have Indian. (Internally screaming YES!!! For Naan and Briyani) I'm a city girl and know good Thai and Indian food. So far this is the only place in town that can compare to city food. Service is efficient and food is tasty and plentiful. We recommend the Indian but would totally come back here to try the Thai menu. They have all of the usual curries; plenty for vegetarians, as well as meat eaters, and also some more unusual options. There's a goat cheese kulcha for example, that's quite yogurty and stuffed with onions and fresh herbs. You can customize the spiciness of most dishes. Plenty of parking in their own lot, or you can park in the mall lot if you're able to step over curbs and through a patch of grass. I went to this restaurant for the first time today with friends. When showed the menu, I had to admit I had no idea what any of the food choices were. I selected the Wednesday lunch platter because my girlfriends ordered it. Well, it was delicious. I loved the decor. Staff are polite and very helpful when explaining menu items.
