I have ordered food from this restaurant almost 20 times since it's opened. I love everything I have ever ordered. The lentil soup is delicious, warming and comforting and very satisfying. I have to get the vegetable biryani and it is always flavorful and fresh. We like either the battered chicken lollipop or the deliciously seasoned chicken 65. Their food is always consistent and well prepared. I think they should be awarded a Michelin star. read more

Finally tried here since I wanted to see how it compared to citrus in New Windsor. Placed a to go order and barely waited for it, which is great fast service. The mix biryani was incredibly flavorful and the rice was just right, but I feel like for a mixed meat rice could used some more meat. Butter naan, was pillowy soft and very warm, loved the fresh rustic taste. Amritsari fish was best out the whole meal, very tender fish with that extremely flavorful and powerful spice batter mix coating, never thought fried fish could be elevated beyond bland. Came here for take out and driving with my little brown bag was one of the hardest things I ever had to do. Found this place on Yelp (thanks to all your amazing recs) and I LOVE Indian food so sometimes I just only stick to my regular spots that serve the dishes I just love. When I went up the stairs to the little restaurant (after peeping also the "we now serve alcohol huge sign" outside) I realized how cute and quaint this place is and how I can't wait to come back and enjoy the sit down experience. Meal: vegetarian samosas, mattar paneer and naan. **Disclaimer** I'm a sucker for dal makhani for something hearty (I usually will go extra spicy for this one) and malai kofta if I'm wanting something a little more creamy and soft. WELL, let me tell YOU that the mattar paneer was everything I could've wanted and MORE. This soft, creamy, flavorful dish is a cloudy caress to your taste buds with the most incredible pops of flavors. The paneer bathed in a creamy tomato sauce with green peas is everything I needed on this rainy day. Regrets: Not knowing about this place sooner, not ordering this dish before and most importantly, not ordering rasmalai for dessert. We had the manchurian chicken appetizer it was very good. We got a couple of the naans and they were fresh. We also got the do piazza which was lamb and it was delicious. We ordered it medium. It had some kick but nothing over the top. We also got the malai kofta and the saag paneer both were good. I was glad they had coke products. Friendly staff but I do wish they checked on us a bit more because we would have ordered another drink if they had. Overall a great meal and we would be back if we lived in the area. read more

I came just before noon on a Wednesday--from the outside it didn't look remarkable, but don't judge a book by its cover--The dining room was inviting--nicely decorated, spotlessly clean and sunny. I noticed a pleasant smell and Indian music as I came in. I was the first dining room customer of the day, but other soon came in. I ordered the Malai Kofta, 'vegetable and cheese dumplings in a mild cashew and almond sauce', and the garlic naan. They had a vegetarian section on the menu, which I always appreciate. My meal arrived promptly-- and OMG the food! The delicately balanced spices in the sauce!!! A hint of cardamom, without being too much. Rich without being too oily. Stumbled upon this gem in an unsuspecting part of town while cutting through on 84. Lamb korma, butter chicken, garlic naan and mango lassi - all were delicious! Amazing flavors and seasonings i cannot even begin to decipher but bode together so nicely to deliver a spicy yet full bodied flavorful meal which folds neatly in your tummy and leaves you just perfectly satiated. When our daughter informed us she would like to use this restaurant as a source for her wedding reception's food, we were surprised, and frankly, a little concerned. We did not know much about Indian food (from what we knew, it was all very spicy and with lots of curry). We went to the restaurant and sampled some of their offerings, and were pleasantly surprised - several entrees were not spicy at all, and we enjoyed all of the entrees we tried. Based on our "taste test", we agreed to go ahead and contract with Desi Dhabi to provide the food for approximately 150 wedding guests. The overall experience was excellent - the restaurant volunteered to loan us "warmers" to keep the food hot (our reception location was about 30 miles from the restaurant), the food was ready on time and was very favorably received by our guests. We got many compliments on the food - a number of the guests had limited or no exposure to Indian food, but commented on how good it was and how surprised they were at how much they enjoyed it. Some local guests inquired where we sourced the food, and when they found out the local source, expressed they would definitely be visiting the restaurant. One other thing we wanted to comment on - we had some family members who had a number of food allergies - the restaurant was very responsive and helpful in sharing the ingredients in the entrees we had ordered, setting our guests at ease about which entree they could enjoy without worry. We would definitely use Desi Dhabi again, and as we attend an event in Newburgh a couple times a year, we plan to eat in the restaurant when we get the opportunity. read more
