We had some verbal sparring over the phone; and after I made SEVERAL reports to both the health department AND Hillsborough county, she told me to leave. I had already moved my daughter, so. If you research (which I wish I had done before) there have actually been a ton of complaints filed here over the years. It's obvious the owners are only in it for the money. They don't do a lot of projects with the kids, the food is crap, and everything is incredibly old and dirty. Any time you bring up problems, you get a ton of attitude. One time, I caught a staff member spraying bleach water next to my kid, and I asked her to stop and I got yelled at for it? So I brought it up to the owner and she said it wasn't bleach. It was labeled bleach water and I know what bleach smells like! I was told that my daughter had to wear shorts under her dresses or skirts because "the little boys in the class are curious" where TF are the teachers if the little boys have time to do that? My daughter shouldn't have to change what she wears because the teachers aren't doing their jobs. In addition, I've walked in several times and the kids were by themselves and the teacher was nowhere in sight! Stay away from this place; I wish I had never subjected my daughter to it. I hope it gets shut down.

She constantly had to defend herself from bullies, which left her anxious and withdrawn. During this time, she developed night terrors and behavior issues she had never experienced before. The atmosphere did not feel nurturing. Some teachers seemed disengaged, and my daughter was even fearful of certain staff members. On one occasion, while we were at the pool next door, a regular visitor mentioned that they frequently heard teachers yelling at children inappropriately. That was very unsettling to hear as a parent. The facility itself also felt lacking--children don't have adequate cubby space, and there are odd, inconsistent rules that don't make sense. The front office staff were often dismissive and unapproachable, which made communication very frustrating. I regret not removing my daughter sooner. Once we switched her to a different daycare, all of her issues disappeared within weeks--she began sleeping through the night again, her behavior improved, and she was once more her happy, confident self. Every child deserves to feel safe, cared for, and supported at daycare. Unfortunately, that was not our experience at Child's Haven.

Instead of demonstrating understanding or support, the director was condescending and dismissive. What was especially concerning was that she took it upon herself to diagnose my child as autistic based on her "20+ years of experience." I found this extremely inappropriate and unprofessional, as she is not a licensed medical professional and should not be labeling children in this way. As a parent, I was hoping for compassion, patience, and partnership in helping my child grow, especially since this was his first time attending daycare and he needed to adjust to social interactions. Instead, I left feeling judged and disheartened. I would not recommend Oak Crest Preschool to families who value inclusivity, empathy, and professional boundaries. I paid $225 for the registration and curriculum fee non-refundable, which I worked hard to afford, yet it was clear that the curriculum was never applied to support my child. After only 1 day, my child was judged without a fair chance.

My last child was attacked and this was the third time in three days, he was left with a deep scratch in his face that is now a permanent scar a year later. He also "fell" into a bookshelf that left possible fracture in his skull and permanent calcification and dent in his forehead. The doctor said it will Most likely never go away (happened 19 months ago) The first two requests on the injuries that had occurred previous to the serious one were dismissed despite my son telling me another kid hurt him. Additionally my son had a medical emergency (seizure) and requested to see footage per the doctors request and they refused to help me obtain this. Lastly to these isolated incidents, I have never felt more unwelcome in a place that I spent thousands and thousand of dollars at. We have switched to a different preschool and it is like day and night compared to Oak Crest, I didn't realize until i switched how terrible my experience over a 4 year period actually was. They really could improve how they treat staff and families and ultimately the care they provide kids.

I wanted a place that felt like home, had a respectable kind staff, but had clear expectations and guidelines for my son's safety and care. I toured school with a long check list of questions and all of my concerns were addressed professionally. My son (17m) has been attending since he was 10 weeks old. As a first time mom everything was overwhelming and frightening to start. The whole staff was so helpful and welcoming to start. Bianca and her team made this very difficult transition seem very smooth. I remember on our first day she invited me to call the classroom as many times as I needed. I did my best to focus on my work and trust they had him. She was kind enough to call me. Just to check in and give me an update knowing this was a big day for both of us. Bianca was incredible when it came to difficult things like transitioning to solids, sickness, and developmental milestones. Now my son is in the 1's class and he's learning so much everyday. As soon as my kids started they had major confusion with my children's ages. And forcing my twin 2yr olds to be potty trained bc they thought they were 3yr old When they just had turned 2 right when they started. 1st issue second issue they said my kids had behavioral issues and trying to make it seem like me and my support system didn't know how to discipline my kids. Mind you at home and other peoples homes my kids don't act out. I explained to them how I discipline at home which obviously they have to follow certain rules and things which is understandable to discipline. Never have I ever heard of a toddler getting suspended from a daycare. Nope 2 of my kids did! Almost weekly and I finally got tired of signing incident reports, and asked for video footage. 1 of the reports I signed stated a toy was snatched out of my kids hand which obviously a trigger for a kid so young, so his reaction was to bite. Yes my kid is wrong I understand that completely I asked if they were sat down to explain do we not snatch and bite, no one could answer the question. Then another day comes by and he get In trouble again, for what the report stated was a similar incident. I sign it and don't ask questions bc I was so over it I was looking for other daycares. I walk in the next day to drop off my kids at the daycare and the director tells me that my 2yr old could not come back after today bc he's expelled. However no one told me anything the day before when I signed the paper and it was not on the paperwork either. When I asked why that is when the director proceeded to tell me did I read the incident form I told her yes it's similar to a situation that just happened a few weeks before when she was not there. she then proceeded to tell me that she reviewed the footage and told me a whole different story then from what I signed On the report. So I told her that and stated then why have me sign a report that is not accurate bc you guys seem to not be able to get your story straight. mind You this is my 2nd child getting suspended from this facility for said behavior issues And they knew I was looking for another daycare. from the beginning I paid full price as my school readiness was not transferred yet to their facility which is ok bc they back pay so I would have a credit which I confirmed with the owner. My credit was over $800 and they still tried to get me to pay full price. When I asked about it and mentioned. It that is when the owner decided she would look into my account and seen I had a credit but then tried to say I had a lower credit then $800 which I matched everything up and corrected her. Also when registering my children I provided all paperwork up to date... let me tell you they lost every piece of paperwork provided for all but 1 kid. Now why if im registering 3 kids would I only provide for 1. they always want doctors notes even if the kid misses 1 day. Like what a regular school doesn't even do this. lol. Also they tried to get extra money from school readiness and tried saying my kids is last day was a week after they were expelled. I had to call school readiness to make them aware so the new school could get paid properly.

I have waited all summer to write this because I wanted it to be as un-emotional & succinct as possible. My kids attended 2 years of Montessori here. They loved the teachers but left for summer with very little support for the upcoming school year. Granted, one year was complex with COVID but there is no excuse to conduct a teaching environment if you're not following the Montessori method and actually teaching. I feel so sad for the teachers. They all mean well & love their students. However this place has had multiple admins turnover in a matter of 2 years, and teachers came & went just as easily. Unfortunately this was evident when multiple parents came together towards the end of the year and realized their kids (8-10) year olds still could not read at their grade level. This same group of parents spent their summer paying alternative schools (Kumon is who I hired) to supplement everything these kids had missed. Mind you, my son was complex and has not done well in any school due to a minor disability, however this wasn't just my son who required remedial tutoring & this review isn't solely based on my son's issues. They weren't proactive in helping me with educational resources , I had to get a 504 plan from a local elementary school, which he didn't even attend but they were willing to take me through the process. Along with charging a ridiculous amount of monthly tuition, they also had so many extra days off throughout the year...then charged extra for those care days if you were a working parent! I'm not talking holidays and 2 teacher work days. I'm talking once every month or two for no apparent reason, it was not on schedule with public schools many days they took off. They didn't pro rate, instead they charge you to "care" for, not teach your kids on those days off . the last month of school, also didn't prorate so you pay a month, get 21 days & then they charge you extra to help care for your kid the rest of the month! They also increased their tuition intermittently, I was paying approximately $1400+ per child. I'm telling you, this place will charge you & then send your kids home with subpar education to succeed thereafter. I am forever weary of Montessori going forward & have opted for charter.

The majority of the teachers are unprofessional and the principal does not have the leadership skills to identify or correct the problem. My child is in the 6th grade and several children have been inappropriately touched by other students and experienced racially related bullying as well. When parents spoke up, the staff retaliated against the students by taking away most of their privileges and cancelling all school events. Police have been present on the campus twice this year. My child, who has always been an A student, came home crying because his teacher led him to believe he is an F student. When I met with his teachers and principal, I found her story to lack any evidence and my son brought home all A's a few weeks later. I truly believe that the teacher was just being nasty. The principal and assistant supported this behavior from the teacher. I'm also shocked at the lack of education level of the faculty. There are very few times when there aren't spelling or grammar errors in what they distribute. My son has brought home reading materials with a set of questions for him to answer that didn't match the material. For the sake of the children in the Palm Harbor community that could benefit from a good private school, I hope there is a change in staff. This is not an inexpensive school by any means, I would not recommend considering this school at all.
