We had 4 people in our party but the tour total was about 25 people & by the end of the tour we had gotten to know everyone and were all friends. At least half of our tour were locals from NY which right off the bat was a great sign this isn't your typical touristy thing. Such a great activity to do with out of town friends b/c It feels like a local secret, you learn a lot about the history of beer in NYC, and you drink a lot of tasty beer. We went on the Express Tour. I cannot wait to go on the regular tour next time!

Anthony wouldn't turn it on until we all signed our waivers and "his door was closed." What the two had to do with one another is beyond me. This was the first clue this trip was going to be a nightmare. Common courtesy would have been to make sure the van was cooled down each time we had to get in, but instead we crammed in and sweat from stop to stop. He was completely unprofessional, was on his phone the entire time at the breweries, and offered no knowledge or insight into the breweries we were visiting. As a self-proclaimed "beer guy," I didn't understand his lack of interaction with our group. Instead, he made a scene at our last stop which was a complete embarrassment. Even the guys working at the breweries apologized and knew we weren't the ones with the issue. When I tried respectfully speaking to him about what was going on, he threatened to leave us at the brewery and find our own way home. Our other option was to immediately leave and cut our tour short, which we were forced to do. He had something against our group, as stated, from the first few minutes of the tour. It's a real shame that my best friend put so much effort into making her husband's birthday special and we were all treated so poorly. Luckily, the breweries themselves were wonderful, accommodating, and seemed to truly enjoy our group, unlike our driver who was disrespectful and made us all uncomfortable, and is incredibly overpriced. Considering it was 70 dollars for a ride and a four ounce pour at each of three breweries per person is outrageous, especially when considering NJ state law, breweries are required to give you a tour for free! In fact, most places require a tour. The way this is advertised makes it seem like you're getting something extra for going on NJ Brew Tours. Save your money. Visit the breweries on your own.

While most companies weren't able to accommodate such a small party, this company was happy to work with us. Mike called me in advance to talk about what kind of day we wanted to have, what we like to drink and if we had any special ideas in mind. He had a great working knowledge of: which breweries had the best views; who had what kinds of products; what sort of food was served where; who had live music or special events and so on! He seemed happy to accommodate any requests we had in designing the tour, but was equally capable of crafting a great day with no help from me. It was nice to feel like I could be as much or as little a part of those choices as I wanted and know it would still be a great day. Our tour was also with Mike - who was on time, communicative, friendly, a good driver and an overall great guide. What I felt stood out and made Sam's tour above all of the other various brewery tours that I've been on, is his complete understanding of the chemistry aspect of the brewing process. It's one thing to be able to understand and recite the step by step process of brewing and some of the biological and chemical reactions, but Sam said he went to school in those fields so his knowledge of this fields of study was truly outstanding (and he also had some great stories about beer as well). We visited Flying Fish (the largest and oldest brewery in New Jersey), Lunacy (a cult favorite brewery that I've actually never heard of that only brews at night given the lunar root of their name) and then Roy-Pitz (their main brewing location in not in Philadelphia, but their sours were brewed on site, which if you know anything about beer, sours and all other types of beer need to be kept separated) and Love City Brew Co (this was the last stop on our tour and was PACKED) in the Spring Garden Arts section of Philadelphia. All of the breweries we visited we got a sort of "backstage" look at their specific brewing process as well as tasted four of their beers. On the third stop we had a late lunch/early dinner of sandwiches or burgers (which I didn't even finish because I was so full). Overall based on things learned, new breweries visited, food portion size, and overall tour guiding, I'd give City Brew Tours a 10/10 if it were possible on Yelp. By the end I couldn't even drink anymore beer (I'm tiny, sue me) and left with some new appreciation of some pretty cool breweries that I had never been too. I understand that not every tour goes to the same brewery, seeing as not all will have the same availability week to week, so I'd defs be interested to do another Brew Tour and get to explore some other breweries as well. City Brew Tours was a full day of fun, facts and brews, would highly recommend!

You have a great driver, Kevin, who is very knowledgeable, friendly, fun, and most of all patient to put up with all our drunken shenanigans during this past weekend's Yelp Beer Bus event. The bus itself is clean, comfortable, and has both a tv and dock for playing your Ipod's. It's a great way to get around and taste a lot of beer without having to worry about getting a DWI ! Kevin knows all the routes to some of the best local breweries, and is a big craft beer guy himself. They do many beer tasting events on LI and around the local NY area and have packages available for group trips, or shorter shuttles to the local brew tastings. Check out the website for upcoming beer events and rates. To me, it's totally worth the cost to enjoy a worry free, and safe day, rather than drinking and driving. We hit up Great South Bay, Long Ireland, and Port Jeff Brewing Company. That last stop in Port Jeff on a terrific spring day was just perfect to try some beers and then wander around the town for a bite to eat before heading back to the train station to drop us off. Kevin has a great little biz here that I wholeheartedly endorse. Also, between stops it pretty much became a beer fueled dance party bus with some moves going on that would put some strippers to shame! Yay beer!

Rich was our driver and was such a joy. He made things super easy and kept us on time. The wineries were beautiful and the lunch at Cooperage Inn was a huge hit. The food was delicious and so much better than a boxed lunch option. The tour was 11am-5pm which sounds long but they day flew by. I would love to plan another fun event with Tapped, and Rich! Some large groups made standing outside to look at the sights impossible, though there was plenty of room inside (but it was warm in there). Got back to the area across from Jenkinsons around 845 and idled until the fireworks display, which was okay but partially blocked by a building. Not sure why the captain chose to park the boat there knowing that some folks would have an obstructed view. Parking is a bit problematic as you are blocked in by other cars, and there is no one to irect traffic out of the small lot when it's over. Overpriced but all in all not a bad evening at the shore.
