These guys are true professionals - we loved our driver and the host, as well as the breweries they selected for us. They even came to us all the way out in NJ (1 hour travel time!) for the day's events. I kicked a star off because they didn't have a restroom on their bus, and, for those of you that have drank and then attempted a 1+ hour bumpy ride..... it was a tense ride home! Eddie Avila was our guide and he was very knowledgeable on the beer making process. We ended up being a very small group and had a great time. Let's start by saying our guide Jonathan was GREAT. Super knowledgeable and kept us entertained the whole time. Now info on the site not so accurate... there was no metro card nor bus so this ended being a walking tour. Breweries weren't far but wasn't expecting to walk in the cold. Snacks that where to be provided was just a pretzel that wasn't the best, cold and on the hard side. And swag was just a lanyard with a couple of sheets with info about pairings and such. Worth the $ undecided because the amt of beer was way more than enough but they need to be way more clear online as to what your getting. Over all we would do it again just to hang out with Jonathan and the other couple we met. read more

Mike was great. I'm from Las Vegas and I like to go on these tours to see where the locals go and this didn't disappoint. The three Brooklyn breweries chosen were excellent and we tried some beers we wouldn't normally order. It was a lot of fun. There is a good amount of walking so if that isn't your thing then this might not be for you. You also have to take the subway from one area of Brooklyn to the next. Incredible tour. Our guides were very talented and knew a great deal about the history of beer in the world and in Brookly, NY. Well worth the $ and time. We stayed in Manhattan and took the train into Brooklyn. It took about 30 minutes from Columbus Circle. We went to 4 breweries all over brooklyn one being Strong Rope Brewery. Food was great at the beer hall and van accomodations for the afternoon were great. I recommend it to all over 21. read more

Last Sunday, I embarked on an awesome beer tour with City Brew Tours and some of my fave food & beer loving foodie friends! City Brew Tours makes it easy to hit up local breweries & cideries by driving you around in a private van and taking care of your beers and food (depending on the tour you go on of course). Our dynamic tour guide, Tim, walked us thru the history of beer & it's history specifically within NYC. Each stop treated us like VIP and it's a great way build some fun memories w/ a group! I wish I would have known about these guys for my bachelorette party. Stop 1 was Five Boroughs Brewing & they had fantastic beers . MY FAVE ONE here was their HONEY LAGER it's a collab beer with All Wise Meadery and it's a 5% ABV beer. Five Boroughs Brewing's Honey Lager is a Bavarian Helles with a twist- a large portion of the fermentable sugars come from Orange Blossom honey from @TremblayApiariesNYS. Pilsner and Vienna malts bring a rounded maltiness but the honey is the star. Although the sweetness is gone the essence of the honey remains w/ unique apricot/citrus notes that are accentuated by the bone dry finish. BASICALLY, IT'S DELISH AF. Stop 2 was Circa Brewing Co which is always a pleasure to hit up. We enjoyed food & beer here. The beer that Kale'd me the most was their Coconut Porter...it was created by mistake after they accidentally dropped 40 POUNDS OF COCONUT into a vat, they basically shrugged and continued brewing it. When it was done they realized it was a glorious porter. Stop 3 was Brooklyn Cider House. We learned about cider production here, got to check out their Spanish barrels (made so long ago & obtained from an old cidery in Spain) and we were able to "catch" cider straight from the barrels. Each cider we tried had a nice clean flavor and the ambiance here is really rustic and romantical. Stop 4 (and one of my personal faves) was Braven Brewing. Fave beer was their "Scream With Me" Imperial Porter made w/ pumpkin, spices, vanilla & maple syrup. SO GOOD!! In all I think City Brew Tours is a great time and a really fun gift for someone in your life who loves beer and loves checking out breweries. They're also available in other cities like Boston, Baltimore, Pittsburgh...and I don't know where else. I'm hoping that they at some point create a Queens brewery tour because so far all of the NYC options are in Brooklyn and for the past few years Queens has been killing the craft beer game ;-). read more

This was a very good tour overall. Our guide, Mike, was great. My only complaint is that the first brewery we visited did not reserve space for our group indoor so we had to sit in the outdoor seating area and it was pretty chilly. read more

I opted for another City Brew Tour in new city and I was NOT disappointed! I can almost say it was better than the first! Cat and Tim both incredibly knowledgeable about all things beer, very professional but super personable and fun. The pick up at Smith st was very easy, we visited 3 very varied breweries that had something for everyone. Even people who don't love beer were encouraged to try and Tim tried to find something for everyone's tastes. Five Boroughs was great, Circa was more of a restaurant/brew pub so less my style but the fries that were included were amazing. Braven was a newer add ( less than 2 months open, CBT has got the hook up!) and super low key and cool. All had great beer, not even sure I managed to pick out a favorite! Looking forward to another brew tour in another city! read more

We were picked up at a convenient spot in Brooklyn, right near multiple subway lines. The bus is comfortable, roomy, and in great condition. It holds 13 people in addition to the driver and the tour guide in the passenger seat. The tour guide (Isaac) knew more about beer than anyone I've talked to, and he explained it in easy-to-understand terms, from the history of beer up through modern day beer production. We visited three different breweries, all with different styles and sizes as well. Each brewery was expecting us, and we got the royal treatment at each! My favorite was Five Boroughs Brewing, but all three spots were great and varied. We had a full meal at Circa Brewery, with a salad and a few different types of awesome pizza! We ate until we were stuffed! While everyone was a bit quiet as we boarded the bus, by the time we were touring the first brewery, everyone opened up and we all had a collective blast. The guide was great at breaking the ice, and many people shared their beer experiences with each other. This was a great social activity, and I can see why City Brew Tours has been so successful in other cities! I got the last ticket for this trip, but I definitely plan to do this again soon with a bunch of my friends. As an event planner, I have used a lot of different vendors but City Brew Tours fails on all accounts when it comes to providing a positive experience for clients. Everything from missed packages, beer kits never have the correct items we paid for and their customer service is terrible!!! If I could give them a negative star I would.
