They destroyed a very expensive item of mine. no recourse. I would not go there! They offered nothing. Disgusting.

Absolutely ruined my almost brand new $350 suit jacket (making the $175 pants basically obsolete), and damaged another almost brand new $200 suit jacket. I returned the ruined jacket representing the problem, and received only big time "run arounds", with no resolution! And now, they can't even find the destroyed jacket to give it back to me. Last Thursday I took a bedspread to City Cleaners to have it dry cleaned. The person at the desk told us to come back Tuesday before 5pm to pick it up. We waited actually until today (Wednesday) and got there about 4pm, giving them an extra day to clean it. The same person who waited on us when we dropped the bedspread off was there and he went to find it. It was taking a long time and when he finally came back he said, "It's in the washer." I said, "What?! It was supposed to be done yesterday, and now it's not even done today? We drove AN HOUR from Pagosa Springs! We have another hour to drive back." He said, "Yes, I see it was supposed to be done yesterday. They are very behind." I said, "Why didn't someone CALL me then to tell me it wasn't ready yet?" He said nothing. The clerk left the desk for awhile and when he came back to the desk he said, "It definitely won't be done today." During the time he was gone, another woman customer had come in the store and was waiting behind us. She made derogatory comments about the place while the person at the desk was gone. She said, "They're the only show in town," but told me that there's a place by College Plaza that does bedspreads professionally. When the desk clerk returned and said it definitely won't be done today, I said, "This is unacceptable. Do you know how much it's costing us to drive here and back to Pagosa in that truck?" (motioning outside to our pickup truck). A total waste of a trip. So I asked if there was going to be a discount for the cleaning since we were spending a fortune in gasoline, not to mention hours of our time having to come back again when they didn't have it done even 24 hours after they were supposed to. He didn't offer any discount or compensation. He only said, "You can just take the bedspread back if you want," with an offended attitude. I don't know what HE had to be offended about at this point; he was the one in the wrong. I said, "Ok, I'll just take it," since the other customer had told me about the place on College Plaza. So he went and got it. Before he had said it was in the machine, but it was completely dry - they hadn't even started it yet. It still had a tag safety-pinned to it! This is the worst service I've ever seen, not only at a dry cleaner, but at any business. So I said, "I'm sorry, but you suck. This place sucks." In response, he laughed at me. Laughed quite a bit. No apology, no sorry for the inconvenience - NOTHING. I guess he knows they're the only show in town and they don't have to do a great job to keep customers. Whatever happened to the saying, "The Customer's Always Right?" That still holds true. You don't alienate your customers! When you screw up and are wrong, you humbly admit it. And you offer a discount, or some compensation to make amends and keep your customers. This young guy couldn't care less. This is my review - ZERO stars. What a complete fiasco this place is. The desk clerk should be fired for his rudeness and horrible customer service. Responsibility and civility seems to be going away from society. Whoever is managing the place should be reprimanded for letting the work get so behind. The owner will be told about this. ADDENDUM: I read the other reviews after I posted this one. This business is awful, not only in their service and practice, but they post comments saying things like "This person has a mental illness," and "Just another fake bad review from our competitor." Umm, THIS BUSINESS HAS NO COMPETITORS. They are the only dry cleaner in town and for miles around! So not only are they poor business people, they LIE as well. After reading all the other reviews from people who were treated like I was, I plan to sue them in small claims court. They committed breach of contract costing us monetary damages, and their staff is rude and nasty. Maybe this will teach them a lesson. This place exists - that's about its only saving grace. I'm constantly disappointed in the price, speed, and customer service I receive here. But it is literally the only option in town. Please accept this as a plea to someone out there to open up a less-terrible cleansing place. read more

I've had 100 percent disappointment at City Cleaners, so I don't patronize their business anymore. While handing my soiled clothing over to the counter person, I make it a point to make eye contact and use my finger to indicate spots. When the clothing comes back a few days later, I inspect it and find THE SPOTS ARE STILL THERE! The manager promises to try one more time, blah blah blah . . . . I have stupidly gone through that scenario at least five times. At the time they went "eco-friendly GreenEarth," City Cleaners lost my business. If you have a stain, use the stuff from the hardware store; do not go here. read more

I have used at least a dozen dry cleaners over the years (I wore suits and ties to work every day for over a decade), and these guys are the worst I've ever dealt with. I can deal with the seemingly high prices (don't have many options in town), but they destroy at least one item per batch. It seems like they must pay someone to see how many buttons they can break off of people's shirts. Worse, they somehow never notice this!? And probably most annoying is their inane practice of clamping those ridiculous plastic tags to every garment! I've ripped several items trying to remove them (usually don't have scissors to cut them off when I'm traveling). I've probably seen every manner of labeling customer clothes, and the plastic tags are the worst I've ever seen. A few minor changes and they'd be ok, but until then I'll travel out of my way to avoid this cleaner... read more

Worst experience with dry cleaning EVER! They ruined my sweater and actually tried to convince me that it was my fault! On top of this, the two girls working were actually angry with me for not being satisfied. Do NOT use these "cleaners" for your clothes. read more

the worst, I meant the worst. To begin with I had a large amount of shirts that needed to be laundered. I asked for medium starch, I received "light" starch. that was all fine. what was not fine was the fact that all 21 of my shirts had returned with a permanent bar code, and sloppy work. When I called to complain about the $$ and now my shirts had bar codes, I was told to come pick up my new laundry. I called to speak to the manager and was told they were on vacation until next week. This business is a total nightmare. If they don't lose your stuff they will assuredly ruin it. It's exorbitantly expensive and avg about 1 wk to get your clothes back. Recently spent 11.00 for them to destroy a 100.00 cashmere scarf. After trying repeatedly over the course of 1 month to reach out to them about it the manager offered me "store credit." After losing multiple much beloved items to City Cleaners I now drive all of my dry cleaning to Farmington. Buyer beware. read more

I use City Cleaners all the time and they are always friendly, very fast and helpful. I have never had any complaints about their service. There have been other cleaners in town through out the 15+ years I have been a customer, but they never last long. We are lucky to have City Cleaners their great facility and professional staff. read more

Pretty good cleaners. I've used them many times and they do an ok job. I had to stop going though, as they kinda ruined several items. I think what others have said is accurate. I wouldn't take anything to them that I really care about, which sort of defeats the point of a dry cleaner. read more

Terrible! I would travel the distance to go out of town to avoid using City Cleaners. I paid $180.00 to have 12 drapes cleaned, 8 of them came back destroyed! The lady at the cleaners argued with me and denied they caused the damage. They were returned to City Cleaners in the original unopened packaging with the tags still on them from the cleaners. The lady tried to say I had slammed them in the card door which isn't even consistant with the damage. While in City Cleaners two other unhappy customers came in, the front desk staff is rude and the lady who handled my complaint is rude. We spend a lot of money there every year and they have lost my business. I didn't even ask them to replace my drapes, only to refund the cost of cleaning them. My wife and I have been customers of City Cleaners for about 10 years now and have never had a bad experience. The girls are so friendly and helpful and the older lady is so knowledgeable. After frequenting this Cleaners several times, it has come to this. Prior to today, I had a decent experience with City Cleaners. For the most part, City Cleaners had done a fair enough job at cleaning my dress clothes and returning them to me in a timely manner. A little hiccup there, a missed stain somewhere else, but nothing out of the norm for most cleaners. That is until a few weeks ago. Recently I had taken in some of my dress clothes to be cleaned and pressed. I picked up my clothes some time later and took them home. I was shocked to see that one of my nicer shirts had a tear on the right shoulder. When I confronted the cleaners about it they flat out denied any responsibility and initially refused to pay for the damaged shirt. When I pressed, they offered me a credit for half the value of the shirt. I refused. Here are the things I know: the shirt I gave them was in good condition, no tears, no rips, no cuts; when I was given the shirt back it had a good sized rip in it, making the shirt unusable; they denied they had anything to do with it and that it was impossible that any employee, or process used, at their shop could have been the cause of it. When I continued to refuse to accept their offer for half the value of the shirt, they finally decided to pay me the full value of the shirt in cash, but added that they would no longer do any business with me. Not only do they continue to deny they had done anything wrong, but now they have lost my business because they refuse to admit that they could have been wrong, chalk it up to a loss, and move on. It is unbelievable. I've never seen such childish behavior from a business. As a result they have lost a potential life long customer. I just want my shirt back. Apparently this isn't the only horrible review for this place. Just check out the "filtered reviews" at the bottom left of this page and see that this isn't a one time deal. There are 3 other people who have had their garments destroyed and then been treated horribly by the staff at this awful company. read more

I can't believe this place stays in business! Two times I was quoted a price and then charged way over that quoted price when I picked up my items. The ticket they give you at drop off does NOT include the price, therefore you are left to argue. The first time I wrote it off as a miscommunication or new employee, but when things happened again, I knew it must be a deceptive practice. I did get the quoted price after arguing. I read another review by someone who said they didn't want to do business with him again, and the same thing happened to me! That's OK with me, cause I will never do business with them again anyway. Also I had once brought in two zippered items and both zippers were broken after cleaning. I had to argue again that the items were in perfect condition when I brought them in. Eventually they did repair them. All this coupled with ridiculously high prices. Would NOT recommend. read more

Horribe! Rude service, staff, owners. Please someone open up another dry cleaners in Durango, PLEASE!! The only reason this place is in buisness is because there is nowhere else. They stained a pair of my jeans and when I poited it out to the girl, she laughed. It took 4 different vistis and a dozen phone calls to even speak with a manager. The staff and quality of service at this business downright sucks! No other way to put it. They ruined my wife's sweater, shrunk some pants, and wouldn't accept responsibility to replace the items and were incredibly rude and disrespectful. We called our attorney and learned they had ruined an article of his. The owner is inaccessible and hides behind her employees, and as I mentioned before, the employees are rude, disrespectful, and very unprofessional. Beware!! read more

I've never had such multiple bad experiences with a dry cleaner. While the women that work the desk are friendly enough, the quality of the cleaning and service is horrid. We've taken our comforter cover to them TWICE to have to cleaned, and both times it came back with these horrid spots that looked like tea or coffee stains. I had to take it back out, get it recleaned, and there was never an apology for the inconvenience. Two weeks ago, I took a top in that I wanted to take with me on vacation and they said it could be done that same day after 5. When I drove out at 5:15 to pick it up, no top. "Sorry, it won't be done until tomorrow." Which was a huge bummer, because I had an 8 am flight the next day. Then, today I went to pick up a top I took out there and it cam back with the same two stains it had when I'd dropped it off. The top wasn't "dry-clean only," but it's an expensive top and I dry clean it to keep it nice. I put some stain remover on the stains, washed it, and shocker... the stains came out. I would call and complain to the manager, but what's the use. There's a lackadaisical attitude with the employees and managers alike that I've encountered, as if it's not important to them that a good job is done and their customers are satisfied. I would NOT recommend taking your cleaning to City Cleaners. From now on, I'll be driving to Farmington. read more
