However, over the years their customer service and front of house employees have become incompetent. I've been a patient of Dr. Dubiki's for over 20 years. I went here for my annual eye exam, when i called to schedule i asked if they had a large selection of bigger frames the receptionist said yes. However when i got there they didn't have a single frame big enough to fit my face so they had to order a frame. Additionally when I called for my prescription to order glasses elsewhere because they don't have any that fit, I found out they didn't measure the pupillary distance so I can't even order glasses online. read more

I was really disappointed in how the staff handled my emergency call today regarding my eye issue. I have seen Dr. Dubicki before and was extremely pleased with the care he put into my appointment. However, after calling into the office and relaying that I was told I needed an emergency appointment by a walk-in clinic, I was told the earliest appointment was in two weeks, and there would be no exceptions, even after I relayed how vital my issue was. I was told by the walk-in clinic doctor I could lose my eye sight if this is not addressed immediately, so I clearly want someone I am familiar with to help me, and was extremely disappointed in the flippant response I received. I asked if he made exceptions for emergencies whatsoever to get an earlier appointment, and was just told, "no," with no follow-ups about even checking with the doctor. I called another eye doctor immediately after, whose staff asked me questions about my symptoms, and said they would consult with the doctor, which is the correct and appropriate procedure that should be followed, especially by a local doctor. read more

My experience with the in house ophthalmologist, Dr. Dubicki, has been pleasant, and he has made me feel at ease when I've been in for eye exams. On the other hand, the front desk staff's customer service leaves something to be desired. A visit with a simple request to get lenses in my glasses replaced left me feeling less than welcome and sorry I bothered; one of the staff was quite short with me, speaking in a flippant, passive aggressive tone, and offering very little information without being pressed for answers. It was perplexing. I am hoping to find another eye doctor that will be a pleasure to visit on all counts. read more

I went to an exam with Dr. Dubicki almost a year ago but finally got around to writing a review. When I asked about Lasik surgery, Dr. Dubicki was very condescending when talking about it with me. I am pretty young, but previous eye doctors (when I was even younger) had told me I was a good candidate as my prescription hasn't changed in at least 4 years. He probably was right to tell me the risks of getting Lasik so young, but I thought he just told me in an incredibly rude way. But the worse part happened when Dr. Dubicki unexpectedly dilated my eyes without asking me, warning me, or informing me in any way! I don't have any family history of eye diseases and was really only there to get more contacts and ask about Lasik (see above...), so I'm not sure why he even did this. For those unaware, having your eyes dilated makes it difficult to see up close and makes your eyes very sensitive to light. I had never had my eyes dilated before, and I had driven myself to the office and did not have sunglasses. While he gave me these (very ugly) paper sunglasses, I was very uncomfortable driving home, and had an outdoor event later that day for which dilated eyes were very annoying. This experience destroyed my trust in this doctor and I have no reason to recommend him or return. read more

Chris and I both had great, thorough eye exams here by Dr. Dubicki. They take VSP insurance which has a $15 copay and then Chris got a really good deal on new frames. Yeah, there are some really expensive frames (like $400) but his were about $100 with the VSP discount. They have a great selection too. The staff is super nice and helpful, and I told them how happy they were that they were open on Saturdays. The Dr. understands that a lot of people can't get their eyes dilated in the middle of workday. I feel like our sight is in good hands. PS. The map's not totally right for this location - it's in the apartment building with Chase (around the corner) right where Queen Anne Ave jogs to the east to continue down the hill (if you're coming from the north). Trader Joe's is about two blocks west of it. There's a parking garage just to the right of the entrance. read more

Dr. Dubicki and his team took great care of me. The combination of staring at a computer all day and turning 40 I thought it would be best to get my eyes checked out. Having never needed an eye exam before now I didn't know what to expect and was not excited about the possibilities of needing eye wear. Dr. Dubicki made the process a lot less stressful and reassured me that wearing glasses when I look at the computer or read at night will just make things easier for me. By the end of the appointment I felt much better and with their help had picked out a pair of cute comfortable glasses that fit properly. Hands down best optometrist I've been to in a very long time (and I've been wearing glasses since elementary!). I came in to their location in a bit of a crisis as my last contacts were finished and I needed a temporary set (along with new glasses and contacts + new prescription). They saved the day and got me a loner pair and upon my return, worked with my insurance to put me in an amazing pair of new glasses. Very stylish and different from my usual boring selections. I just went and picked them up and not only is the prescription PERFECT, they look great and are incredibly comfortable. I'm wearing them now! Do yourself a favor and avoid lenscrafters and the wholesale joints and come to a place where their #1 concern is taking care of you and your eyes and making the sale second. read more

Dr. Dubicki and his staff are wonderful. They work as a team and help everyone feel welcome and at ease in their office. Everyone is well informed and can answer any question you have. I came in to have my eyes checked for the first time in a decade. Not only were they helpful and kind, they helped educate me in all the steps they were taking to check my eyes. Dr. Dubicki is so incredibly patient and kind. He explained what had changed with my prescription and showed me the difference in my eye sight. Once the exam was over Erika took the time to sit down with me and pick out the perfect pair of glasses for my look and style. She took the time to explain the differences of each style and even gave me a few minutes to look them over and figure out which pair I was most comfortable with. read more

Ordered prescription sunglasses over a month ago and was told they'd be ready in 7-10 days. They ordered the wrong frames, then a lens broke in manufacturing, and then they tried to get me to pay another $90 (I'm already in $260), so it's been over a month since the start. The correct frames finally came in and I was told it would be another 7-10 days for those lenses! I said no thanks, I want my money back. That was a week ago, and they've argued and given me excuses when I call in to ask for my money back, and now they've said my insurance won't return the benefit - so I can't get another pair of glasses elsewhere for 2 years. I was in need of a new prescription and frames and looked at several different shops around town when I stopped into City Eye Care. This was the first place that the staff actually welcomed us, so I immediately had a better feeling than I did anywhere else. They had a much wider range of frames to choose from compared to most shops, including a wide array of designer frames, as well as some less expensive options. I ended up trying on at least 20 different frames before I found a few that I really liked. The staff was great to help identify similar options, and why some weren't quite as good of a fit. When I had it narrowed down, they didn't push for one pair over the other, even though one was about $150 more expensive, and I ended up with a great pair of glasses that they've helped adjust to make sure they fit perfectly. As far as the actual eye exam, Dr. Dubicki was personable and professional. He mentioned that I might be a good candidate for Lasik surgery and talked about some of the pros and cons regarding the procedure without being pushing about it. He also got me in and out nice and quickly. All in all, the staff was terrific in each of their roles and I'd happily recommend City Eye Care if you just need a new frame or if you're looking for a new optometrist. read more

I have been going to City Eye Care for a couple years now and love it! Dr. Dubicki takes time to get to know you, listens to concerns and makes sure to set you up with what you need. I definitely feel well taken care of when I leave. It is typically pretty easy to get an appointment at a reasonable time which makes rescheduling, if need be, stress free. This is big for me since my schedule is constantly changing. I appreciate how accommodating they are and how they don't make me feel like I am inconveniencing them when I have to reschedule. I have also had a couple of eye "emergencies" and they were great about getting me in quickly! I am very happy at City Eye Care and highly recommend them! read more

Dr. Dubicki was fabulous -- took his time, and was very thorough ... and I now have the best prescription I've had in ages! Dr. Dubicki gives an excellent eye exam: he's very thorough, knowledgeable and actually LISTENS! He gives good advice, tips and suggestions and when you tell him about a problem or a reason why you didn't like his advice, he actually listens to you, thinks about it and gives a new suggestion rather that just nodding and saying "mm hmm" vacantly like so many other dr.'s I've had. Their frames are expensive because they're name brands, but they do have a great selection ranging from classic wire to colorful and fun frames (I was fortunately able to get a great funky pair that was mostly covered by my insurance). Also, if you DON'T have insurance, their price for an eye exam was reasonable compared to other local doctors (ask if they reduce the price if you pay cash - one of my doctors did and I thought it was them but cannot remember for sure). Last but not least, they have great hours. Evening hours on one weekday (I think Thu) and Saturday hours help you miss as little work as possible. Call early for Sat appts though, they fill up a couple weeks in advance. read more

Dr. Dubicki has got it together. I went in needing a pair of contacts for skiing. I have an astigmatism and have had a lot of problems getting contacts that are stable on my corneas. In less than an hour he had me in the best fitting pair that I have had in over a decade. He also took the time to explain to me the changes (presbyopia) that I was going through and prescribed some reading glasses. I have had half a dozen optometrists over the last 20 years, and he is by far the best. He refracted my 6 and 5 year old children as well without a hitch. I got my frames at Costco. The frames that they have in the store are very nice and generally high end and priced such. The service is selecting them is Cadillac. Dr. Dubicki has evaluated both my kids twice. He is really good with them and quite clear on their corrective needs. read more

Confirmed with my insurance whether City was in network or out. Unfortunately City was out. I liked the glasses so much I bought them anyway. Yolo as the kids say. Great experience all around. Quick note, be mindful of their store hours before going there. Check their website since they're closed Monday's and from 1-2pm for lunch. I have been a customer of City Eye Care for a few years now and I really appreciate the Professionalism of Dr. Dubicki. I have a pair of frames after a year where they snapped in two (I often fall asleep with them). The staff at City Eye Care ended up working with the frame vendor and I ended up with free replacement frames...I thought that was exceptional. I had my girlfriend schedule an eye appointment and the Dr found she had a hereditary condition that had been previously undetected. While not critical at this juncture; it did require ongoing evaluation to ensure it did not develop into a more significant issue. She is 50 years old and this had never been diagnosed despite it being present for likely the last 30 years! If you are looking for an excellent Dr with a nice selection of frames...I recommend City Eye Care. I also make it a point to hit one of the local food places on Queen Anne at the same time. read more

From the very beginning this practice was great. I had been going to the same doctor for years until I had to switch to someone in my network. My co workers all said that City Eye was great so I went. The atmosphere was really comfortable and the employees felt like they were a close knit family. Dr. Dubicki came out and introduced himself to me, "Hi I'm John." I liked that he was laid back which attributed to the comfortable atmosphere. My eyes are really sensitive so normally I struggle with eye exams but this was surprisingly almost fun..Dr. Dubicki was very personable and talked to me the entire time without feeling like it was rehearsed. I absolutely dread the part of the exam that blows air puffs into your eye to measure the pressure - thinking about it gets me tearing! But Dr. Dubicki has a different way to do it and it's a breeze, no tearing and no puffy eyes when I was all done! They had me in and out which is unlike other offices that make you wait way past your scheduled appointment. The receptionist was very sweet and also personable. She helped me get the best deal with my insurance and explained my benefits. She totally knew what she was doing which is great because I didn't! I am very happy I switched doctors.
