I had an "incident" while driving on the highway a few weeks ago where a recycling truck lost a piece of metal (off the truck, not its load). It hit the windshield, and left a huge hole. immediately called the company and had ALL of the information where, what truck, where the piece came from etc. To my honest surprise, the recycling company inspected the vehicle, called me back and stated they would cover the entire cost to replace my windshield. The said Glass City in Waukegan would be doing the repair. Just give them the info and they would set it up (which they did). This is not your typical glass service at all. It is run out of a converted house. There are comfortable couches in the waiting area, along with a TV and free WIFI. The only down-side is that there is no public restroom. The people were extremely friendly and did a great job on a vehicle not easy to work on. Even though I didn't pay for this their prices were amazingly reasonable. I was hesitant to use Glass City to replace my windshield because of the bad review I saw previously. I decided to take a chance and give them a shot. As I shopped around, most places quoted me somewhere between $200-$400 to replace my windshield. I stopped by Glass City and was quoted $180 including tax. They said they could have my windshield here in 24 hours and it would take about an hour to install. I called back later that week to make an appointment for the next day. It took them less than 1 hour to install my new windshield and the instructions they gave me for the next 48 hours were clear and easy to understand. It's been a few weeks now and my windshield is still intact. I would definitely recommend Glass City to others. Glass City replaced my Jeep Wrangler windshield in less than one hour for $145! Advice, Call first! You will get all the info you need in one call and save time. My windshield looks amazing and they even put my rearview mirror on that was chillin' on the front seat. They speak spanish, and customer service was very friendly! The only bad thing I can say is Customer Seating is a pair of old, stained sofas and the room smells bad, very hard to sit for even a few minutes. I took my car to get the windshield replaced. Upon picking upon picking up my car I noticed that the molding was cracked, it was not liked that when I dropped off my car. When I presented this to the they claim that they did not do it. The reason they're saying that they were not responsible for the damage that they caused was the fact that can see a fingerprint across the molding. Which they blamed my wife for doing this. Glass City is suppose to be a business, but blaming there mistakes on the customer is not right. This review is SOOO overdue! LOL! I've had 2 cars stolen in the past! The car that I brought for repair to Glass City was stolen twice by drug dealers that were stealing cars from the library and Walgreens parking lots, at the time. The police found my car both times, and both times these losers would break the back vent window! I went to Glass City both times for repair and both times they fixed my window with no problems! I believe it cost me $60-$65. The wait was 45 minutes one time, an hour the next. The guy who fixed my window said "A number was done on ur car". I have had no issues and I still have the car! THIEFS!!! I had a large crack on my windshield so I called them up and they quoted me for less than $100 which was great. I also had them check my passenger side regulator that had stopped rolling down. They had a $30 charge for checking it which is understandable given that it takes some labor to remove the door panel and figure out the problem. I was supposed to pick it up the same evening and they called me saying it was done. I was stuck in traffic however and couldn't get there in time so I told them I would pick the car up the next day. Since I had to leave the next day, I couldn't wait for them to order the regulator and fix it so I told them to leave it as it was. [i.e. fix windshield, dont do anything abt regulator] I was really happy with their fast and cheap service. Plus, there should have been a $20 charge for keeping the car overnight but they exempt me from the charge. I would have reviewed this place 5 stars but after 2 years, I attempted the fix the regulator problem myself. I opened the the door panel myself and guess what???? There is no regulator or motor. They had secured the window with some wire and had NOT told me that they had kept the regulator/motor to themselves. The dealer quoted me $300 for regulator + motor. Another big problem is that when u get a new regulator/motor you are supposed to use the same screws but its not in stock in honda dealership so I had to order the bolts/screws for $35. I have NO FREAKING IDEA why they wouldn't have told me that they removed the regulator/motor. DID they forget to put it back in? I dont think so. They had quoted me $60 for a new regulator. I am guessing that was price given that my motor was working fine and they just wanted to replace the regulator when I got back but the thing was that I was moving the next day and I had told them that I was leaving the state. FREAKING THEIFS!!! These people act nice and give cheap quotes but dont be surprised if your car parts go missing. read more

It happens, that rock hits your windshield and you see the crack. You are debating paying your deductible or out-of-pocket. Glass City came in much less than that competitor with all those ads and lower than my deductible. The staff was professional and backs up their work. I had a question about my car and they thoroughly addressed my concerns. It has been a week since my windshield was replaced and I have had to issues with leaks or otherwise. Rude and disrespectful customer service. I have my glass repaired and paid for it as well, so don't know how well the workmanship is and frankly if it was worth the money. Blanca, the manager as she quoted herself was very very rude to both my husband and I. First, she got the glass wrong so it could not be repaired in time. Car sat outside without a windscreen until they got the right glass and came back again. Wasted my time on waiting on them. Did NOT apologize for their mistake instead got upset with me for not being home right away to make the payment. I was just pulling in my drive way when she told me that her workers can't wait any longer (i was gone for 15 mins, in which they had come and installed the glass) and that I should come and make the payment. Good thing, the workers were still there and i paid them there or else God knows what she would have done in her temper!! No concept of respecting your customers and having a professional conversation. My advice to the owner Jane would be to be work on Blanca's professionalism in communicating with the customer. Keep her personal problems out of work place. Its bad for business. P.S. I will update this review if something goes wrong with their installation. I hope it stays. read more

I had a crack in my windshield that was to big to be fixed so the whole thing needed to be replaced. I went to my dealer first and they recommended a glass city. The price was less then the 4 other places I enquired at. They told me it would take about an hour and needed up only taking 45 min. Everything looked good when I left, but when I got home I noticed that a part of the stripping had folded over. I was worried that it was going to let in moisture so I called them up and I was told to bring my car back in. I did and they fixed it in 2 minutes. A couple of weeks later the automatic rain sensor that was attached to the windshield fell off. I ended up needing to glue that back on. I also noticed a small imperfection at the bottom of the windshield towards the center. It's barely noticeable. But, you can catch it when the road line hits it just right. It leads me to believe that the glass was cracked and repaired or the glass was imperfect to start with. The waiting room was disgusting they need new sofas. In short if you are on a tight budget the price can't be beat from what I found. But make sure you go over the work very carefully before you leave. read more

I brought my wife's mini van there for a replacement windshield installed..dealer wanted $530 just for the windshield. This amount doesn't include installation. My wife did some research and found Glass City. They said it would be one hour. Took about 25 mins and the total was $170. Excellent excellent job! Jane, you have a great company with impeccable customer service (the Hispanic girl at the front desk (sorry I didn't get her name) was fantastic!). I will absolutely come here again soon. My other car needs a new windshield and I was hesistant in getting it replaced because I am selling the car in about six months and was concerned about the cost but at these excellent prices, I will definitely do it. Do not use auto city. They replaced my windshield and side window. Windshield started leaking bad and side wundow came dislocated because they used used glass and glued it to the original clips while they charged me for new window which they come with clips so they won't get dislocated. Prices are high and work quality is very low. Stay away! read more
